He's clearly basing that on certain FBI data charts (which IIRC do actually show that black people above a certain income are more likely to be arrested than white people well below that income), but he's completely overlooked the fact that those charts describe arrests, not convictions.The more obvious conclusion to draw is that cops in many areas are more likely to target black people of any income unfairly.
You can't really get around the fact that his view (or the view of the person he's parroting) is based on the racist assumption that black people are criminals because stereotypes said so.

A few of my friends and myself watch JonTron's videos, so when we ran into him in Manhattan(twice in the same day, and accidentally followed him home) and met him, we were excited because he was very nice, joking around in a very calm way. So a part of me wonders if this is him trying to capitilize in a really scummy way off the alt right gamer gate crowd.
But then again the 3 of us that met him are all white so there's that.
I think whatever brand of nationalism that Jontron subscribes to is more of the sort that doesn't really go all clan member on individual interactions, like he could probably have a best friends that's Asian or whatever, but when it's a larger group of Asians that's when it becomes spooky scary and threatens his way of life.

He seems so uncertain about everything he says that it just comes across as completely insincere. All those " hehe it's just banter mate" chuckles he do after every sentence becomes increasingly tedious with time. He definetly just had an unhealthy dose of right wing and libertarian kool aid. I'm expecting an apology video within 6 months or something.

It's backing down slightly in the sense that he didn't repeat the "we need to protect the white race" argument, IMO.

By contrast one would be extremely nervous if a Republican lost in a very blue area by just a few points. As in the governor race in my state four years ago.

I guess i just thought the shift from you are what you are based on your heritage and/or birth, and the you are what you choose to align yourself with was a fairly modern thing. In that for instance a Perso-Hungarian dude can take up the flag of "white persecution" because he considers himself part of, or atleast sympathetic to, that alignment. And be accepted by these alt-right dudes in return because he chose the right alignment. But you're the historian, if you say that this has always been at the back drop of things, then who am i to argue.
