what exactly is fishy about pedro?
Just a gut feeling… We know there is a traitor who brought Jack to Zou.
He is a pirate going after Road stones... So maybe Kaidou hired him for reasons

re: Big Mom's female henchmen - I agree, I'm really liking them all. Amande in particular is my favorite.
We don't know if both Big Mum's poneglyphs are road poneglyphs one, do we ? Robin also said that they need to be brought to Raftel, I hope it was just what is written on them that needs to be taken.
It's been stated at Zou that Big Mom possess a Road poneglyphs, if you look in this panel the poneglyph on the top has a darker coloration, that's the red one, and Tamago confirmed it:
https://mangastream.com/r/one_piece/846/3811/15
Now that i think of it, the real doubt is what is written on the other 2 pg. In my original post i assumed they were "information" ones, but there's no evidence to support that.
-edit- The content of the road poneglyphs is not sufficient to unravel history, actually as a matter of fact, they not contain any of it. So, to "build" the Rio poneglyph all the other 9 information poneglyphs scattered through the world must be taken at Raftel. Tamago's diagram on the left top panel confirms it.
@.access:
He is in the panel with everyone asking for Lola.
Oh nice, wow he's expressing concern for his sister, that's cute :)
I'm curious to see how the "Book Book" devil fruit works… I'm my own opinion i think is the most dangerous fruit if used correctly. I'm sure Oda will put some limitations to that.
I LOVE Mont d'Or's Devil Fruit. Going into the world of books…I wouldn't be surprised if he wrote ones on his own just to give his opponents the worst time ever. Good literature for sure. His trump card is a Sonic fanfiction book.
I'm sorry but I'm not sure I can trust Big Mum with her promise. And the fact that she asked Luffy to be captured alive increases the doubt I have already.
I wonder if Nami and Luffy will be taken where Jinbe is.We don't know if both Big Mum's poneglyphs are road poneglyphs one, do we ? Robin also said that they need to be brought to Raftel, I hope it was just what is written on them that needs to be taken.
big mom has one road poneglyphs and 2 "normal" ones, what's inside them it's a mistery though since big mom doesn't have someone that can read them

well for once it seems only able to make illusions..with all he shit that appeared in front of luffy, none of those things attacked him,it was just a distraction
Enjoyed this chapter. Brook & Pedro interaction at the end was quite fun.
I'm really liking all the characters design of Big mom's children especially the girls.

I've seen this idea passed around a bit but do you think Big Mom would be able to give life to the poneglyphs and have them reveal their contents?
@.access:
To be honest, even though he fought for hours he also kept eating for hours - and we know how Luffy works. This basically means he kept recharging the whole fight and was at 100% at the end.
If he was beaten up, it was because of his clash with Sanji (and while I don't think that "fight" would have weakened him, we saw how Luffy fought poorly against Lucci in W7 when he was shaken because of Robin, so it's not impossible he is currently unable to fight properly because of everything going on with Sanji).
That will only make sense if he was eating meat. After the fight, Luffy asked for meat.

if i write something on you in chinese can you automatically know what i wrote and it's meaning?
and anyway, big mom already said that they can't read them
Does anyone know what the title of the chapter refers to? To Tamago? "Egg defense" sounds a little bit strange to me :D

Aren't they made of seastone and so impervious to anything DF-related ?

A bad example since I happen to know Chinese but I get your point.
Oh well. Guess in the end, the poneglyphs are just used as bargaining tools.
A Jaguar and a Skeleton working together is somehow very hyping.
I can't wait for next chapter. I already like the commander of juice :D
I wonder if Big Mom can put a soul on the poneglyphs and have it say whatever is written on it.
I'm sorry but I'm not sure I can trust Big Mum with her promise.
We just got definitive proof that when Big Mom promises something she upholds it.
They straight out said Pedro got to live and leave because Big Mom gave Pekoms that promise.
Now Roof will absolutely break the terms of that promise, and prehaps Capone will go behind her back. But her word is apparently solid.
I have a feeling the treasure bomb will come into play soon. They'll be in the treasure room, after all… and that could also change things with Big Mom.
I was about to ask where Luffy´s observation is, but I gotta admit, that was a pretty smart combo there by the army to catch Luffy off-guard.
Having to face many strong people with crazy DFs at once can get a bit overwhelming, but still…
I believe in you, Luffy! Stand up and fight!
If we went from sheer design my fav would be Praline. But when badassery also Comes into Play, Amanda closely steals the Show.
I wonder if Smoothie is a longlegger. It is hard to tell on the females now (check Reiju's intro-Panel for more info, she has pretty Long legs).
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
But this chapter showed us perfectly Luffy's weakness. Mont Dor is totally Usoppe-material as an enemy. Luffy falls for any psycho-trick and if BB stole this book-DF, Luffy would never ever defeat BB and become PK.
So which daugher Luffy will be forced to marry so Big Mom can get a D in her family?
I just now realized Amande's sword has a fish-shaped hilt.
Cute.
Does anyone know what the title of the chapter refers to? To Tamago? "Egg defense" sounds a little bit strange to me :D
Tamago is Egg in Japanese. Most likely the title should be "Tamago's defense" [of the Poneglyphs] but they inadvertently translated his name.
Nami is gonna explain, how she got Lola's VC, this might calm down BM even more. But then we have Brook and Pedro tryin to steal BM's poneglyphs… And who knows what Jinbe is up to? Damn, what a clusterf**k!
The display of the various abilities at the beginning was quite exciting, looking forward to see more of those.
No comments about what Sanji did or Big Mom's reply, it's what to be expected.
Really glad that Smoothie isn't the typical ugly female character, her design was unique in someway, while still being intimidating.
Last but not least, it's Pedro's time to shine, yeah!
That scene where she wrung the life out of that woman was pretty dark by OP standards.
Kind of like the dark opposite of Crane's devil fruit.
Galette's powers seem to be themed around stickiness or something. If you look closely at the first page, she's holding her hands out with a Force manipulation-esque gesture while Nami's hands look handcuffed by a transparent substance.
Amande's Meito sword, Shirauo, is a Japanese icefish dish. I love her design and presumably being a Snakeneck, as well as her sadistic personality.
So the Minister of Cheese has a book-based Devil Fruit. Cool lol, definitely a highlight of the chapter. His book world seems very Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass inspired. I just hope there's some loose form of logic or consistent theming to it like Brulee's mirror world than just random things happening for the sake of bizarre randomness. But both his book world and ability to make multiple flying books reminds me of Zexion's boss fight in kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix.
Opera kind of seems like a retread of Trebol to me. Who also had a sticky-themed Devil Fruit with flammability. The main difference seems to be that Trebol causes explosions when ignited while Opera's just sparks flames.
Finally, some Brook and Pedro espionage focus! I really hope that Brook can get a good fight in with Baron Tamago due to their similar gentlemen-themed designs and personalities. And Smoothie looks pretty cool and has an interesting Devil Fruit power. Reminds me of Tsuru and Kalifa's when it comes to a theme of clothes, although it seems to be more based around wringing juice than water. Somehow.
So who wants to bet that the Tamatebako Box explosives from Fishman Island will blow up Big Mom's wedding cake?
Boy o'boy was this an impressive chapter. Oda brought his A-game this time around. The new character designs are truly creative, but the new abilities moreso, to the point I can't even comprehend how they will be used in the coming chapters. I wonder if the two big guys who knocked Luffy down are Opera's ''creamclones'' or something. They could just be his closest underling, but considering Cracker's usage of biscuit soldiers, it wouldn't surprise me if Oda go all out with the clone/puppet concept for the Charlotte family's higher ups.
Seems like the next chapter is going to be Brook&Pedro-centric. About time in my opinion. Time to see what Pedro can do.

It really was o.o. And with the whole torturing Baum to death stuff it seems like Oda wants to take OP down a darker direction.
Big Mum may be far from the nicest in the world but she has been shown(?) to have a sense of honour, being a lady of her word. But if Brook and Pedro are to be caught, will they be labelled as 'funny business'? I'm really interested to see what Big Mum will do next.
Ah and this chapter's new powers and designs introduced are awesome. Feels like Oda is going down the dark bizarre fantasy route.
new world ain't no joke.
Amande and Smoothie so ruthless
It's mostly small glimpses…but Nami and Brook are defintely starting to have thier moments this arc! I also like how Big Mom's agreed with Sanji's request, though the bomb they've had since Fishman Island won't help..nor the thievery of the Ponygyphs lol. The massive all out attack of them all at once at the beginning was cool! Great way to get through a bunch of them without having to introduce then slowly, and a truly good way to show the might they have, as well as how Luffy and Nami would fair in thier present state (Albeit Luffy is hungry). All in all, a solid chapter that I defintely enjoyed!
Nami is gonna explain, how she got Lola's VC, this might calm down BM even more.
I fail to see that happening.
@Dr.:

My mistake sorry, I meant rio poneglyph (the group of nine)
Fantastic chapter.
The powers are great, the expo is interesting, the character designs are brilliant, we get to see the infiltration team doing infiltration stuff, including plans and whatnot. . .
Great, great, great stuff.
"Egg defense?" So, a shell, right?
Not calling this chapter and Tamago's defensive formations "Eggshell" is a waste of good puns.
That scene where she wrung the life out of that woman was pretty dark by OP standards.
Kind of like the dark opposite of Crane's devil fruit.
She was shivering,so perhaps not dead yet and would get her 'juice' back(whatever that means..).
And then the bomb explodes during the wedding celebration and Pudding dies. End of the story.

He might have eaten crackers, but that is just an appetizer. By now they only thing that gives Luffy regen is meat. I wonder what his reaction would be to tofu.
@Maju:

They could be made out of seastone, hence why they are indestructible, it could also be used to challenge Momo on recreating his clan techniques, by freeing someone from sea stone handcuffs.
I'm not sure what the most gruesome part of this chapter was; Meito slowly murdering the screaming tree by cutting it slowly in half or Smoothie juicing a real human being.
Fantastic chapter, loved the last panel.
Given that Bobbin has had almost no relevance I'm curious as to why he was introduced so early in the story and hyped up as a country destroyer. He just isn't the major character I thought he'd be.
Laffy hasn't gone hear 4 yet for this horde. Time to make one last effort to clear house

if i remember correctly,we saw robin touching one of those, and she wasn't effected, hence that can't be seastone
A Jaguar and a Skeleton working together is somehow very hyping.
Indeed. The interactions between the two at the end was the highlight of the chapter. Couldn't be more excited for next week.
Also, I wouldn't rule out Bobbin so easily just because we didn't see him do stuff do this chapter. Oda might be keeping us in the dark about his capabilities for now because he's going to unleash him later.
Really great chapter, by the way. The designs and abilities were fucking awesome, Oda nailed them all.
This was a good opportunity for Luffy to awaken his fruit, but I guess Oda is saving that for when he meets Bigmom or Kaido.
So, what was the purpose of Lola's vivre card again in the big picture? Consodering she ran away, I don't think Big Mom will give any more concession.
Did she just juice a person? What an interesting fetish? :p
Finally a woman with an extremely high bounty. It's possibly the highest of Big Mom's crew other than Big Mom(providing the Youku have bounties). Also did anybody get a Terriebito vibe when you first glanced at Commander Smoothies' appearance?
