Akainu vs Aokiji, Ace vs Jinbe and now Luffy vs Cracker with those fights over a massive amount of time^^
Let´s how Oda wants to handle a yonkou fight regarding this.

So is Luffy's jaw always Gear 4?
So is Luffy's jaw always Gear 4?
I'd imagine that once the "body" of the armors is destroyed, Luffy was eating the remains. At that point they'd just be ordinary biscuits.
The best thing about this arc for me is the confirmation of some sort of latent ability for Sanji
Of the monster trio, he is the one that has been the least impressive since the timeslip. Struggling against vergo, getting stomped by doflamingo. Zoro and Luffy could feasibly hang with Jinbe, Sanji not so much
That's one of the reasons i was hoping he ate a devil fruit. Dude needs a power up
Reiju's gender have to be considered as well.

Well, it's still science, there are bound to be anomalies. Reiju's gender have to be considered as well.
Just because there are bound to be anomalies doesn't mean you should have unnecessary ones narrative-wise, or ones that could go against the arc's thematics and moral messages.
I think BigMom's current top commanders are:
1-Candy (the lick lick guy that's holding Cesare)
2-Nuts (unknown)
3-Biscuits (cracker)
As foreshadowed here:! http://i1.mangapanda.com/one-piece/828/one-piece-7635373.jpg
http://www.mangapanda.com/one-piece/828/12
Ch. 828 p12
or at least seems to me that way. The closest to Whole cake the island, the more important is its Minister(specifically those that are on the secret route).
Good catch! But Perospero, the guy holding Caesar, is not a Yonko Commander since was already saw his title card labeling him as just Minister of Candy (which means one of the islands above is already covered).
!
If you ask me, Bobbin is probably a Yonko Commander. If you don't remember him, he's the guy that told Big Mom about Fishman Island not being able to pay its tribute. Unlike most of Big Mom's other subordinates, he didn't exhibit any type of fear while talking to Big Mom despite her wrath being imminent by such news. And he also has an intimidatingly big sword (maybe all of the Yonko Commanders are quirky swordsmen like Cracker like the three/four musketeers) and walked into her room with a bunch of henchmen, and we typically see Yonko Commanders in all of the Yonko crews having their own ships and minions. Not to mention he got tasked with destroying a country. Not just securing food and slaughtering whoever gets in the way like some of the other members, but literally just razing it to the ground like Zou's desolation at the hands of Jack. Purin got teased back during this chapter too, so it's not unconceivable that Oda would also tease a Yonko Commander.
!

But that's just my two cents. Like I said earlier, good find!
So you want their personal story to be fleshed out? That sounds more like Judge needs a flashback!
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That can definitely work!
@Don:
My take on that would be, that the siblings received positive feedback from Judge and so adopted over time more and more his attitudes.
Seeing Judge as a role model and his behavior towards others, made a deep impact and formed those siblings the way they are, because…well, they were children.
Sanji received negative feedback from his father, and so he started to reject his ideas and characteristics. An unloved child, who couldn´t be what his father wanted him to be and so he developed more and more towards the opposite side, like many children do in their puberty to show their separation from their parents. (also kind of a cry for help to develop empathy, to be loved by others)
When Judge would have stayed friendly with Sanji, i wouldn´t be surprised when Sanji developed just like the rest of his siblings.
All the Vinsmoke siblings were born equal, but the actions of their parents (especially Judge) formed them the way they are, so talking about "being born evil" is insufficient.Question remains, why Sanji didn´t receive those super powers in his childhood days, which should be explained in the future.
Pretty much what I'm thinking. Monkey see, monkey do. And they're also kids, so it's a given that they can be naturally inclined to pick on somebody who's weaker and more awkward than them. And I'm game to see if Sanji's powers are explained too, but it could easily mess up the theme a bit. Mainly if Sanji was born human on-purpose or if his genes are dominant or something due to being human. I could care less for that type of unnecessary rhetoric towards human worth.
I nominate Moe Szyslak for being the TRUE missing child of the Vinsmoke Family. Sanji was purely a coincidental mistake like Duval being identical to Sanji's bounty poster.

I find that people are missing the importance of character and just talking about power/strength? Because the the only reason Judge would care about Sanji is if he was strong. And apparently the only reason some people care about characters is how strong they are. :p

Worse they desperately want Sanji to be strong in the dad approved way, and seem confused by the idea of Sanji being strong in the ways he found for himself with his actual friends and actual father figure.
They really really suck, and I hope they quit reading.
I wonder if Luffy will get another bounty raise if he defeats cracker…. I think it would be stupid of the WG to not give him one.... I'm also really hoping that they see a new bounty for Zoro or something and be like wtf did he do? Maybe he takes out Weevil or something but i doubt that. At the same time I'd rather have him do something really awesome on panel instead of off.
Anyways that was just a thought. I hope that we get a full chapter of the Luffy vs cracker fight just cause I want to see Luffy move on to the main castle or whatever.

If Luffy beats a big bad in a forest and no one is around to see it, did it really happen?
In terms of bounties, that answer is "no".
Inb4 Screwtape whines about yet another chapter.
@.access:
Been some years since Oda portrayal of female characters started bothering me, and now I realize even the fact that every woman (at least the pretty ones) look exactly the same is troublesome. Just saying 'cause somehow I can tell this whole thing will be what will ultimately lead me to lose interest and drop OP at some point in the future.
Anyways, the cover was really cute.
What a real unspeakable bummer…

Eldest son of Big Mom as well as occupying the island nearest to whole-cake. There's a very good chance that he's a Sweets Commander. Turning people to candy is a pretty strong power. It's speculated that he can manipulate candy to construct buildings. I think he's just unlucky that the term Sweets Commander is introduced later than his introduction so he missed out on the title card. Kinda how we just knew that Vergo is indeed an Executive Officer of Doffy.

His mask looks like a slice of Swiss cheese, so maybe he's the Cheese Minister. And based on original poster's theory, the 4th Sweets Commander that Urouge has beaten. Hehe.

I agree that being first son fits being one of parent's strongest soldiers in terms of standard action shonen logic. Same goes for having a power that compliments the theme of the arc like transforming people into candy Majin Buu-style. But if he was a Sweet Commander, it would have been mentioned in his title card like Cracker.
!
And besides, he still has a special role of being a "Candy Craftsman", hence how he was able to build Caesar his own laboratory and probably acts as an architect all over Totland.
And the thing about Doffy is that once we learned about the ranks of Doflamingo's crew, we had specific elaboration on where Monet and Vergo stood as well. Meanwhile, neither Brûlée nor Cracker mentioned Perospero even though the former was more than willing to randomly mention that one of the original four Sweet Commanders got beat by Urouge. Big Mom's crew and the members standings have already been made relevant in this arc, while Vergo and Monet working for Doffy was purposefully kept secret until after being beaten by Law.
!
! I would find a better translation where Vergo, Trebol, Diamante, and Pica are called "Executives" while the rest are just called "Officers", but I can't find the chapter where this image first appeared.
Also, Kaido's own Yonko Commanders already got the nickname of being called Calamities. So it's safe to say that Oda already thought ahead of specific rank terms/designations like Sweet Commander.
And to be fair, I don't think the "closer distance, more important minister" assumption can really hold up with how integral candy is to Big Mom and Whole Cake Island in general. Of course that is going to be important, and Perospero's minister and craftsman resume already fits that without having to be a Sweets Commander. So Bobbin being the one beat by Urouge isn't that likely. Although it would be hilarious considering how far ahead of time Bobbin was shown lol.

Fair enough. Reading this, another ridiculous idea pop out of me. Something like Perospero is this arc's Sugar. Maybe turning people who chose "leave" into candies, used for construction of stuff around Totland.

That's certainly possible, although I would at least prefer a different execution than just a candy-styled version of the toys from Dressrosa if Big Mom really is that big of a jerk.
Also, I just realized something since we're on the topic of people made of candies working around Totland. Remember how Brook and Pedro were hiding inside of one of many biscuit soldier that patrol Totland?
!
At first I thought that the soldiers may have just been brought alive by Big Mom's fruit and that their similarity to how Cracker's first form looked was just a coincidence. But after looking at how true Cracker was revealed and how his powers were shown off, those biscuit soldiers looking exactly like Cracker's biscuit constructs to the point of even having the same armor, sword, and shields is way too coincidental. Enough so that Pedro might have either been mistaken or talking more about powers Big Mom has at her disposal like Cracker's rather than specifically her Soul Soul fruits.
!
What if, either from the stress of fighting Luffy or eventually being defeated by him, causes all of these biscuit soldiers Cracker originally created to fall apart? If Brook and Pedro are still in one of the soldiers after the timeskip to the next morning, then this could potentially blow their cover and would be really clever on Oda's part to take advantage of the simultaneous plot threads running through this arc.

Im still of the opinion that big mom can infuse her souls into her children with candy DF's creations, because it just makes more sense to me that they can automate thanks to big mom and cracker doesnt have to worry about them at all during fights etc. They operate on their own accord, walking suits of armors large enough to fit a jaguar and 9 foot tall skeleton, lol.
I wonder how far brook and pedro will get to their poneglyph goal before they are spotted, and how they'll nab a print off the road poneglyph. Might be a while before that plot thread rearises

Never really thought it that way. Never gave it a chance since I assumed wrong that Luffy would have beaten Cracker by a 1-hit KO. Haha. So, I accepted them as really being powered by Big Mom's soul fruit. But yeah, it would be interesting if it goes like that.

Are we talking about X/Y-linked inheritance here? Like how it's common for males to get bald than female… and other diseases/resistances.

That would be a bit interesting. Basically giving her children the ability to bring their Devil Fruit "element" to life. It's a bit of a stretch and sounds convoluted, but it is possible. However, you don't need Big Mom's fruit to give your Devil Fruit constructs life. Just look at how Doflamingo's string clones operate and how they even have their voices and minds. He didn't need the Soul Soul Fruit for that, although this was part of his puppeteer theme. Also, biscuit sculptures exist in real life to amazingly intricate levels, so bring crackers to life as armor and minions already fits Cracker without Big Mom needing to play a role.

I made a speculative opinion that the drawbacks of the modification may account for the behavioral nature of sibling 1, 2 and 4, although completely absent in Zero even though it was successful in her. I then suggest anomaly or gender may have been the reason. But the highness who sees himself has Oda's handler felt it's laughable opinion.

Sanji hasn't gotten the time to shine after the timeskip yet, sure, but I don't get why people are saying he's weak.
Doflamingo was out of his league but even then Doflamingo himself commented on Sanji's strength as soon as they started trading blows. He is still top 3 fighter in the SH crew and neither him nor Zoro has shown what they learned in the 2 years of training.

Well im of the opinion that were are a lot of these guys running around or rather patrolling and to your point about doflamingo's clones, he wasnt as occupied with luffy as presumably cracker is in G4 vs him. I mean the first time, doffy's clone blindsided luffy and kyros, the second time doflamingo sent it after him to send a threat, and the third time it was really a two vs one vs luffy and for all intents and purposes doflamingo thinking fighting while he had parasite on was enough to make people fight on their own basically.
I dont think it takes away from cracker that big mom is using some of his clones as watchmen on the other hand I find it really resourceful of her, after all these biscuits are at least a little bit Hard by themselves, she could make better weapons out of them than some saltines or the like, hahaha.
Great chapter, but Reiju being the one good sibling seems, I don't know It seems too clean for Oda.
Everybody needs a Saul.
The current charactarization of Reiju reminds me of the manner in how the characterization of Doflamingo and Fujitora was handled during the Dressrosa arc. Every time you thought you had come to a definitive conclusion of what kind of person Doffy/Fujitor truly is, Oda would write a follow up chapter that would show events relativizing the events from the previous chapters so you were just as wise as before. Reiju has gone from friendly to backstabbing-but-well-meaning to just-as-bad-as-the-others to simply opportunist to secretly good and back and forth. It feels like every time Oda releases a chapter he visits the internet forums and if he feels the character is not interpreted as "well rounded" enough he goes back and adds another angle for the character in the next chapter that in the long run adds more confusion to the discussion. I sometimes wish Oda would go back to his simpler characterisations from the earlier chapters: Clear characterization within one chapter plus one twist in a later chapter maximum.
This chapter just reinforces the fact to me that Reiju will always take her family's side, but she does feel pity towards Sanji. If the Vinsmokes are indeed the enemies to beat this arc, Don't count her to be SH's ally.

It still doesn't mean that she won't be an ally even if the Vinsmokes are the big bosses. If anything, her emotions and sympathy for Sanji show that she has the potential to be inspired to rebel against the Vinsmokes later on. Especially when Luffy and the gang show up after overcoming Big Mom's forces and have Reiju truly realize that the Straw Hats are the nice people that she told Sanji to find rather than just a misfit pirate crew. She still seems a lot like a mix between Hachi and Alabasta Robin to me in terms of loyalty and redemption.
Well, she already met Luffy and the others back then.
Well, she already met Luffy and the others back then.
I know that. I mean in terms of seeing their capabilities as a crew in action. Especially when her first impression of Luffy is almost dying from eating a poison fish out of impulsiveness and having to save his life. She also referred to them as being a "puny pirate crew" while talking to Sanji later and advocated the life of a royal. If she sees how far the Straw Hats are and can be willing to go similar to the situation with Robin in Enies Lobby, she can be heavily inspired to believe in them enough to fight with them.

I actually meant Reiju betraying her family and siding with Sanji during battles with the Vinsmokes. I don't see her doing it, much like Gin going against Don Krieg. In fact, they have slightly similar situations. But after the climax, she could be turned, of course, but I doubt she'll ever leave Germa. Just like how Gin didn't leave Don Krieg after everything. I should have made it clearer. Sorry.
By the time luffy finishes eating all the biscuits from cracker, he will turn giant oars size. big mom will be all over him and ask him to marry her.
I hope Charlotte Bobbin isn't the defeated sweet commander that a lot of people are predicting. I hope he's one of her strongest "do you have snacks?" Can't believe he asked BM that of all people without angering her.
Not sure if someone's covered this but is it possible Luffy has learned to use "life return" and put all that food to immediate use?

Oh, that's perfectly understandable. No need to apologize. I personally don't think she's as devout as Gin is though. Maybe she'll have a brief skirmish with a Straw Hat ally, but I can see her turning by the climax of the story during Sanji and Luffy's fights.
…How ironic is it that we're talking about Gin and his theme of loyalty during the Year of Sanji? Seriously, when is he going to show up again? Same goes for Morgan since I doubt that Oda had a criminal like him escape out into the sea only to never be referenced again.
This chapter brought me to tears…..Oda got me here....
Such emotional impact, I thought the internal conflict going on inside the judge locking his son up and throwing away the key and then letting him go was so brilliant. That is what evil looks like, no turning back now boys!! What about the rest of the flashback where Oda just drives the messages of the disdain the father and sons have for sanji right through the audience skull? It's understandable he is genius so he has to regurgitate it till we grasp it. Oh, and did you see those crying faces, oh, Oda is so subtle I couldn't tell whether sanji was laughing or crying. Luffy's fight off-paneled and eating the crackers of Cracker was unpredictable, no one called it, don't try and persuade me, Oda planned this in his mothers womb!

Morgan? Don't you know he's a Yonkou Commander now and goes by the name of Jack. :ninja:

Damn, how did I forget that? That's almost as bad as not realizing that Killer's a runaway Vinsmoke like Sanji.

Don't forget Vinsmoke Bellamy. He needs love too.

Of course.
Wait a minute. Bellamy and Killer both have blonde hair. That must mean Morgan is also a Vinsmoke! Perhaps he is the uncle.

Dude you're blowing his cover, his name is Jack. Did you know that Bellamy, Killer, Sanji and Jack never met? Aha, didn't see that one coming did you?
It's because if they were ever to meet the big reveal about their familial bonds would be revealed. It's being saved for a later date.
Luffy's fight off-paneled and eating the crackers of crackers was unpredictable, no one called it, don't try and persuade me, Oda planned this in his mothers womb!
Do you even foreshadow bro?

Damn, I'm sorry. I got a bit carried way there.
I always thought that the fact they never met was a bit weird. I bet you that all of these plot threads will intersect once the blonde Gorosei calls all of them together at the Reverie to discuss their lineage linking back to the Void Century and the Ancient Kingdom. That will surely be a glorious sight.
if the curls on Sanji and his siblings eyebrow is indeed related with the curl of the devil fruit, judge not having a curl brow is a possibility

Did you know that the blonde gorosei, killer, Bellamy and Jack all have no eyebrows? It's because when Judge exiled them he told them to never let anyone know that they're his kids, except the gorosei dude, that one is his brother. They all had swirly eyebrows and it's linked to swirly pattern on devil fruits and their ancestral links go as far back as being linked to the devil himself.

Please!! Never change!
