In the end, the entire Beast Pirates didn't feel worthy of being an Emperor crew. Big Mom Pirates were far more menacing, varied and interesting, and yet they were kept out of the battle. Bummer.
yeah this is where the feeling of dissapointment came from for me…
not only did we get a taste of big mom's crew in the previous arc but like... the beast pirates were really built up as a massive threat. the entire plan to stop doffy from producing more smiles was so that they couldn't strengthen their forces anymore or else the fight would be impossible. then we saw jack tear zou apart and look like a complete monster doing it. the crew in the actual raid failed to live up to those expectations.
I disagree. Robin got a GREAT fight, and Jinbe vs Who's Who was also reasonably good.
As for the rest… yeah, not particularly interesting.
jinbei whoswho was alright but the fact that it ended right there without much of a challenge really takes away from it imo
Then why not have them awaken at the end of the fight instead of going on this whole charade of false KOs?
I also happen to think that Awakenings are too valuable a concept for us to see anyone who's less than a Yonko commander, you need rarity to make Awakenings special, and let's be honest, frigging Sasaki should not be mentioned anywhere near the word Awakening.
I think Oda probably regrets making that crew all-Zoan tbh, easily the least interesting subclass of DFs, which clearly limited his options.
except sasaki and whoswho were next in line to challenge for a position against the calamities, implying they were at least in the ball park(though obviously not there yet)
them being absolutely destroyed by franky and jinbei makes them seem like no big deal, but they were pretty much the next strongest on the crew after the calamities

Is it safe to say that Zoro was a much better fighter than King?
Because other than Zoro, hilariously not knowing his race in order to beat him, King wasn't really that much of a threat to him.
The moment he understood King, he easily beat him.
This really dissapointed me, because Oda showed that he was capable of showing a true fight with Luffy vs Katakuri.
Even though Luffy found out how to get around Katakuri's greatest weapon.
Katakuri was still using it to counter Luffy and dodge his attacks.
Also Law vs Doflamingo felt like a fight between 2 masters of their fruits.
It went from a fight between an inferior and superior. To a fight between equals and Luffy earned his victory.
In Wano, it feels like absolutely know one earned their victory. Luffy included.
I am just dissapointed that the antagonists never got the chance to display their full strength against worthy opponents.
We apologized for it in Dressrosa because Oda clearly set it up to show that Doflamingo family had grown old and complacent.
But in Wano? dissapointing.
I still don't see how this crew could hold its own against the other emperors.
yeah im with you there. none of the fights in this arc have been at all satisfying, save g5 luffy vs kaido and parts of the emperors vs the worst gen. i mean queen decided to go after some random woman in the middle of his fight and that led to his loss. the beast pirates were all complete jobbers. ulti probably had the best showing.
that last page is amazing. loved this arc.
i agree with the sentiment that boros being alive after finally getting what he wanted and fighting all out to the death is a bit meh, but i was excited to see him.
-Introduce Sun God Nika myth in fishman island and tie it into the sun pirates story
-Have Whoswho show up in dressrosa to help Doffy and do his exposition dump about gum gum fruit
Probably would make the fruit reveal less jarring, though ideally the story never goes that direction for me…

Hate that he has the chosen one power in general. I'm just waiting to see what other implications it has on the plot, and maybe im just a negative nancy but I doubt I'll like them. Also not a fan of how he "awakened"
Someone posted about the time frame and I have to agree. Even if it isnt a retcon, which I doubt it is, the story of one piece so far hasn't been about the chosen messiah, so it really feels off putting to realize thats what the story is really about, and thats what oda always wanted to write.
I'm seeing people now say the design for the gum gum fruit looks really similar to the darkness fruit, especially the color and swirls on it
probably a reach but the door is wide open for almost anything at this point
