Female singer really drives the animator to make the visual… There are too much ship-happy-scene and StrawHat floating in background without foothold, Big Full Face of villain and past character drawing in the background, now become an expected sequence. Makes me feel too old to watch One Piece .
Hope next will be fem singer!
One Piece Opening 19 and Zou Arc key visual

-
Well, video-wise this opening be pretty trash. Song-wise… It's still not on par with the last two "We ..." openings, but it's definitely a step up from the last opening.
-
I don't like how Shanks is portrayed as a villain in this OP.
Why does he have to be the only Yonko who isn't a power hungry scumbag?
-
ugly boring visuals set to a tepid song. It's a pretty standard by the books opening for One Piece but a terrible opening in general. They have created a formula for One Piece openings that they follow every time.

I enjoyed this opening. Sure, it's always the same outline, but for me it was way better than the 2 previous ones. The change of "music style" for the Poneglyph and Kaido parts sounds great to me. I had the feeling that things are really going on and we are taking one step forward to the One Piece…
I found the water gun fight pretty funny, didn't dislike it at all.
! I assume that they will use the same song but will change the visuals after Zou since it is not supposed to be a long lasting part… Like they did for Dressrosa.
-
The opening sounded better when I streamed it, so I'll put the song above the last one we had. I might end up sitting through it more times than the last one.
-
Well it's better than Hands Up at least. Only thing I really enjoyed was the light water gun fanservice. Song is pretty forgettable. Visuals were standard but didn't flow well.
-
Luffy Gear 4 clashin with Kaido. check.
-
I thought some of the visuals were kinda cool, but the song is weak. Opening as a whole isn't great honestly.
-
I really like the opening, I don't know what everybody is talking about.
-
I keep wondering what's the deal with One Piece openings and fake moments (like the clash with Jack and Kaidou in this one), is it for hype?
And I'm starting to miss the old openings, the last atleast good one was We Go… It's been almost 300 episodes since that.
-
This opening reminds me of Crazy Rainbow Star (one of my favorites) and I like that the Straw Hats are having a watergun fight because it reminds me of summertime with your friends. I also like how they bring the hype for Luffy vs Kaidou (even though Luffy's about to most likely fight BM). One thing I do agree on is the song could've been better but who knows, maybe the song will grow on me like Hard Knock Days did.
All in all, I give this opening an 8/10. It's not the best, but it's definitely not the worst.
I wish endings were a thing in One Piece again.
-
The song gets me pumped as shit, I wanna jump out my window and run around like an asshole. Visuals are… okay. The fanservice is annoying, as always, but I liked the watergun fight in general. Also liked the arc preview stuff- not too spoilery, but hinting at stuff.
I really miss endings though, hahaha. Remember when there were specific character endings? I actually think Robin, Chopper, and Vivi were the only people to get them (Robin actually got 2!)
-

The first and second sentence don't make any sense. What are you talking about?

10 second smash cut of scenes in the upcoming arc - checkThis is basically the problem with the past couple of openings. The setups are standard and routine. They're too formulaic.
Remember when the openings had the crew doing stuff on different islands instead of just doing mudane stuff on the Sunny?
Remember when it wasn't so common to see the crew fighting a bunch of generic mooks and showing off all of their skills for 30 seconds in an opening?
Remember when some openings actually showed more scenarios from the upcoming arc because it was exciting, spoilers be damned?I've always liked it when a few of the OPs would animate manga color spreads because it was refreshing and different. The water gun fight in this opening just has the costumes, but none of the stylistic splendor of the actual spread.
-
I always check out the openings even if I've dropped the anime…. and the visuals are terrible. Stills and obviously wonky art in those stills. I do like the song, though. The guitar is really nice. Much better than the last few songs.
-
I don't think we've had an opening that was visually interesting since Fight Together. After that they've just blurred into a nondescript mess of utterly identical sequences with perhaps a few shots at the very end that tie in to the arc we're currently in.
-
EDIT: What does 'jack' mean in Japanese? It's heard during the lyric 'That's why we've got to go, Captain Live-By-My-Own-Rules'.
-

In this case, i think it's to make up for the lack of actual fighting scenes in Zou. Involving the crew, at least.
Eh, most of those are either background/distant shots or in-between frames that you need to freeze-frame to see. That's not fair at all.
-
It's not that hard to make a decent Robin. I just had to bring down the mouth a bit and remove the tongue.
-

Just a funny compilation of in-between shots and things that look odd, couldn't be helped. Nami in the middle looks fine, but on the right, looks like a creepy one expression smiling robot navigator doll.
-
Robin looks fine in that shot. Nothing about it needed to improved.
More nitpicking over in-between shots and far-away images and other things that you can't notice in motion….yeah. rolls eyes
-
It couldn't have been easy for Toei to whip up an exciting opening for the upcoming arc.
! "We need some action beats to get people excited! Can we use something from the upcoming arc?"
" It was almost all exposition, and hype for Kaido, who may not be dealt with for a 100 chapters"
"Dammit, well show them fighting Kaidou then!"
! It just struck me that Zou in an "animated" 20 minute format is going to be absolute death. If watched back-to-back, theres going to be borderline hours of JUST talking.I can also understand the impulse to fill up the runtime by showing carefree shenanigans of the nine straw hats on the deck of the Sunny, but at this point, its almost false advertising. It hasn't happened canonically in literally years.
-
It's a great opening, fantastic animation, just felt like putting it together.
Though I have to disagree with that shot, Robin looks derped out.
@Daz:

It's not false advertising. It's repetitive but they have to set basic grounding so that viewers (newcomers, children, anyone really) can relate to the main characters easily. The manga rarely includes any mishaps seen in Oda's color spreads, that isn't false advertising. At least there isn't another shot of Sunny flying in the air.
-
Meh, song's not as catchy as Hard Knock Days and visuals are the usual generic "Straw Hats Pose, Straw Hats Play, Straw Hats Fight (another non-canon one in this case), and upcoming arc preview". Nothing interesting in the slightest. If they gotta make these 2 minutes long, least put some focus on the arc more, make it look exciting. Not asking to spoil the thing, just make it look like it'll be a grand adventure worth tuning in for. Hard Knock Days least almost got that right. Why is that so hard?
-
The shot of Robin looks fine….like she always does

.Look at him being put together with all the Yonko and making they looks all evilz.
-

The Nami on the farthest right makes me laugh for some reason. Seriously someone NEEDS to make a gif of that 10 second shot in the OP where she's at the wheel with that face.
-

Them fighting "the elephant" is certainly one giant tease.
However, we should not underestimate the potential of action-based filler sequences or even full episodes in the upcoming arc. The anime fight against Giolla comes to mind.
! However, this opening seems destined to be short-lived given that Big Mom seems increasingly like she's being prepped to be the next big antagonist. Expect a new opening shortly after the following arc starts
-
Look at him being put together with all the Yonko and making they looks all evilz.
That's nothing new. Every time he's been shown since the timeskip he's smirking and covered in shadows.
-

That image is taken straight from this cover.

It introduces the characters yes, but it also sells the promise of a carefree crew sailing around, having fun, doing what they want- which hasn't been true since before Punk Hazard, and may not be applicable to the series again from this point. Ever since Punk Hazard the series has fundamentally changed its story-progress approach, something this opening is not reflective of, is all I'm saying.
-
Some parts of visuals were promising and really exciting, and then the ruin it with same uninspired shit that they do for all the openings. Remember when Toei put an effort in the openings?
[I get it when there some wonky art in the episodes but when it comes to the opening something that viewers watch every week, its not acceptable.
Song is alright tho.](

loud screaming
I like it–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also I like how
! They shaded Apoos face because they know he a lil shit
-
Opening as lazy and lame as this anime is for years now. Toei coasting on mediocrity. Good that I dropped it years ago.
-
No day goes by without missing the pre timeskip color palette.
-
In my country (China), many people loved the opening animation but disliked the song. That's also my idea.
-
It's an okay opening. I don't dislike it, but I don't particularly love it, either. It's better than Hard Knock Days, though.
Brook looks very …interesting in the fight scenes.
! At least, we can have hope that this one won't last forever, seeing as Zou is a very short arc.
-
I like We Can! a lot and the opening visual too the squirt gun sequence was funny
-
Not rally impressed by this new opening… Best part was Sanji and Zoro fighting with water guns
-
I kinda want pictures of Obama spliced in there.
-
Solid opening. Though I agree with the formula stuff people said. Quite boilerplate.
Wish there was more Zou stuff, but I reckon they keep it to only a few scenes in order to replace them as time goes on.
-
EDIT: What does 'jack' mean in Japanese? It's heard during the lyric 'That's why we've got to go, Captain Live-By-My-Own-Rules'.
Good question! The romanized Japanese lyrics say "dakara ikou ze amano jack senchou", which the English translation displays as "That's why we've got to go, Captain Live-By-My-Own-Rules".
"Jack Senchou" is what they call Captain Jack in Japanese, and it's funny that that line pops up while the crew is fighting Jack in the opening.

Well, amanojaku means perverse person or "contrary person", that's why CR translated like that. Jack doesn't mean anything, amanojaku does.
-
Alright so I was screaming at this a day or so ago so actual comment: why the hell do they insist on drawing Nami with a dumb af :D smile? I'm sure its been done in other openings but when she's steering the ship… holy fuck what.
Butyh I actually really like the opening especialyl when all the plot stuff pops up as it's reaching its peack/ending like fUCK -
Does anyone know if there's a creditless version out there? I want to make a gif of Zoro and Sanji spraying each other with the water guns
-
I liked the opening and thought it was the best since the time-skip. This is almost entirely due to: the synthesizer, the Poneglyph section, and the opening going dim and showing Kaidou and his army lurching forward. Kaidou has such a presence, I wonder if people who've never bothered with One Piece saw this opening and may be interested 'cause of the Kaidou parts.
What I didn't like was how still certain moments were, like Usopp pointing with his mouth agape for a noticeable period of time.
And the song is fine. Nothing to rave about but different enough to hold you through the weekly grind for a while.
-

Heh.
-
Heh.
God, I can't bear to look at that.
You know what would make this opening a bit better? More speed. Too many slow motion and still frames. I miss blink-and-you'll-miss-it openings like Believe.
