@Long:
i didnt intend to classify them as a monolith I just find it interesting that even if the genepool isnt as deep as thought or whatever that loosely related bands of horse tribes from a relatively small area could have so much presence linguistically
They have incredible mobility, and the run of a large flat area in the middle of Eurasia. It's also why the Turkic languages spread pretty darn far even though that spread occurred when there was far more settled and solid civilization everywhere.
And how the Mongols created the largest land empire.
and the splitting off of the two in different areas
Two? The various tribes headed in way more than two directions.
are why occasionally you will see Iranians that closely resemble eastern/north eastern people.
Dude lol, close resemblance in the sense of celebrity lookalikes has nothing to do with this. It's funny coincidence for the most part.
( looks like the R1A also has an influence on slavic people who of no surprise are closer to the steppe regions and themselves came from that general area )
East and West Slavs. And yeah, because they live in, around, or near that exact area where the tribes probably came from. Which is true of other groups too.
But again "Slavic" is a linguistic category so it's more that the original speakers of Slavic languages migrated from around that area.
What's more a thing to consider is that Poland, Ukraine, Belarus and significant parts of Euro-Russia exist dead on that steppe/plains area.
South Slavs meanwhile don't show particularly major R1a, no different from neighboring non-Slavs anyway.
You shouldn't get overly focused on more modern and recent ethnic labels.

I think the point I'm trying to communicate is that the Slavic migrations wouldn't necessarily have changed the gene pool in some places as much as the R1a might suggest. Some places (like modern Poland) could easily already have had populations with heavy R1a.
Meanwhile in the Balkans like I said, the South Slavs of today don't really stand out R1a wise.

@Kaiolino:
Turkish government is now removing Facebook accounts of Dutch House Representatives of Turkish descent who are criticial of his "long arm" (the Turkish consulate adviced Dutch-Turkish citizens to tattle and report on people critical of Erdogan a few weeks ago).
Fucking nuts.
Erdogan also pressured the Prime Minister to resign, who was from his own party, but wasn't in his corner enough for his comfort. Namely not supporting moves to make the Presidency an officially powerful position rather than a unofficially powerful position if certain politicians hold it.
The Prime Minister is supposed to be the powerful person in Turkey (not the President, which Erdogan swapped into after being PM…sound familiar?).
But lol at that ever mattering. Not that Erdogan is the first Turkish President to flaunt that supposed difference, but he's hella scarier about it.
Turkey moves ever down the road to being "Russia with Sun".
