Right … maybe my memory is really bad but i don't remember Janine being that obnoxious or that dumb.
Ghostbusters reboot
-
-
I love you Chris Hemsworth but…wow...I didn't think it was possible but you just made an already terrible looking film EVEN WORSE
-
Janine was definitely not this dumb. Seems they go the usual lets have a total moron in a generic comedy route.
-
Yeah, so this is the most disliked film trailer of all time on youtube. Not sure it was that bad, but I definitely didn't enjoy the trailer at all. http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-36191146

No, Janine was not that obnoxious or dumb. Some thought she was bland due to her often monotone voice but then there would be a moment she delivered her snark.
She was the smart but snarky secretary that actually helped out..in her own way -
Fathom Events is putting the original film back into theaters on June 8th and 12th. People should probably just go see that instead.

Looks like the new Call of Duty is getting about 340k dislikes on Youtube as well. With these types of actions getting headlines and responses, I predict we'll see more of this in the future as sort of a mini-protest/way to get attention/trolling.
-
New trailer.
I think this one's better than thew first trailer.Thinking Kevin (Hemsworth) might be the villain of this film.
-
Better trailer but the content still doesn't interest me.
-
Being better than a pile of puke is not an accomplishment.
-
That's still pretty awful.
-
I'll watch it because I think it's actually gonna be pretty fun. I hear trailers tend to suck. Often.
I could mention that I have zero nostalgia for the original movie(s). I'm not even sure I ever saw the whole thing. I watched the cartoon. That was fun.
-
The movie still sounds terrible as the overall writing is NOT reassuring…but out of sheer curiosity,
am I the only one that seems to like the visuals of the film? It "LOOKS" pretty cool with the color scheme, gadgets, and so on (not to mention SOME...not all of the ghost designs are pretty cool). Surely I'm not the only one that kinda likes how the movie "looks" but absolutely hates everything else about it.
-
I think it's going to be like any other Paul Feig comedy - which have done well. If nothing like Ghostbusters had come before this it obviously wouldn't have received such negative feedback, which is unfortunate for the makers.
Curiosity will make it a financial success. Critical success depends on whether critics can separate the two iterations.

I tend to always preffer "less is more". Kind of like Godzilla. The less you see of it the more of a surprise and joy it will be once you do see it. Here the ghosts are everywhere. And neon as hell. After a while it'll just be samey samey.

I'm with you, I like the overabundance of color.
Its not the best cut trailer, but not the worst either. The first trailer for Spy wasn't exactly stellar, and that movie turned out fine. The new Ghostbusters may not look exceptional, but it doesn't deserve to have put the internet in the tizzy that it has.
-
Sorry, but the way the special effects look make the movie seem like a typical colorful cheap nickelodeon show. And it looks like they just copy the first movie with all the major plots while adding nothing more than one snl sketch after the other instead of actually a well written story.
But we will see, I hope the trailers just weren't good and the movie will be better. But I think it ultimately will be a by the numbers franchise reboot/remake to grab some cash.
-
Morale of the Story: When you are going to reboot/remake a franchise beloved by millions. Bring your A-game.

And I am especially sick that everybody involved constantly pulls the oh you only hate it because they are all women argument, when there are actual criticisms to be had about the movie judging by the trailers that have absolutely nothing to do with their gender.
-
Once again, international trailer looks better.
Idunno guys, I think this looks alright. You're all free to disapprove of the tone/humor/design/callbacks, but the performances and comedic timing at least seems right up my alley. But then again I'm one of the few people who don't think the original is an untouchable comedic masterpiece, so I'm coming from a position where I'm more accepting of a reboot, compared to say, Lethal Weapon, which I loved wholeheartedly the first time around. Also, just for laughs, I looked up the trailer for the original movie. I know its from a different time and adhering to a different style, so a direct comparison is not fair. But man, it would not have sold me on the film being gut-bustingly hilarious.
-
A lot of the original film was ad-libbed, which has a great deal to do with its lasting popularity, and doesn't come across in a trailer since you don't get the setup and the reaction to the ad-libbed lines.
The reboot seems like a film where the first time you see it, you could say exactly what is going to happen well before it actually does.

The reboot seems like a film where the first time you see it, you could say exactly what is going to happen well before it actually does.Thats true for the current trailers as well though? Scripted or improvised, jokes are always funnier in context. And of course the simplest, easiest to convey jokes get put into the pressed-for-time trailer, like Bill Murray being goofy with slime while the narrator talks about them being professionals.
At any rate, while I will not dispute Ghostbusters status as a beloved comedy icon, taste in comedy is inherently subjective, and ad-libedness doesn't automatically appeal to everyone, always.
I for one find the combination of absurdity, visual cue, timing and delivery of "answer the phone!" "I can't, its in the fish tank" much, much funnier than an iconic, probably ad-libbed line like "this man has no dick" -

Rather ironic as the constant stereotypical on-the-nose joke for gender and color is actually what gets me annoyed.
How about not make them two dimensional walking tropes.

To be fair, that's how Ghostbusters always looked.
I think the visuals are the least of the concerns.@Daz:

As it stands, the trailer looks terrible, but the film may still be enjoyable.
Time will tell. -
This movie is looking more like a Wiig and McCarthy comedy with a Ghostbusters flavor, more than a Ghostbusters reboot.
Ghostbusters in general is kinda weird for me, as in I'm not sure where I stand with the original film. Saw bits and pieces of it a lot in my childhood but can't recall the entire film, and when I tried rewatching it a few years ago, I stopped about 2/3 of the way and didn't finish. It could've been my mood or just not the right time to watch it, I don't know. The humor just didn't stick with me.
But I plan on rewatching it all the way through soon, so maybe that'll clear the air :) As for this new film I know I'll see it eventually.

Personally, I think the movie will turn out fine. The original is a unique entity for sure. With the ad-libs from Murray, the genuine obsession for the supernatural of Dan Aykroyd, the writing of Reitman and Ramis, and a really good balance of tone. That said, I think the new cast and crew are competent enough to put forward an enjoyable movie. Full disclosure, I've always been a sucker for Wigg and McKinnon.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Fox is rebooting it as a TV show.
The 2016-2017 TV season has 4 movies turned TV shows and a reboot of MacGyver. -
James Rofle (AVGN) offers his own thoughts.
With a history lesson.
-
oh yeah i watched those.
he wasn't exactly clear on what he hated in the remake, he just said that it's bad because the ghosts don't look good and it lacks nostalgic moments. which is probably why he received alot of hate from it, he got roasted by alot of sites for saying that he's not gonna review it. i suppose if he was an actual critic i wouldn't consider that professional as well, but come on… it the avgn, he makes videos where he defecates on things and makes up insults. -

The problem he has with the film is that it just seems to be piggybacking over the popularity of the GB franchise without taking into account its history, original writers (Harold Ramis being dead at this point), and seemingly has nothing to do with the original GB aside from the concept alone.
Although this might be hard to determine without actually seeing the movie, the only clue he seems to be running off on is that the movie MANAGED to secure Bill Murray, but supposedly he isn't playing the same role from the previous films. So yeah, that should be a red flag if anything. Oh and something to do with Rick Moranes even though he's supposedly retired.
-

It's no different from Doug Walker offering his thoughts on something, opposed to the Nostalgia Critic doing it. The character isn't tethered to the person.

bad complain imo. this isn't me defending the movie, it does seems to have quite a few problems. but it's a remake. off course it won't follow the history of the originals, it's set in a new continuity with an all new cast of characters (eerily similar to the originals but new none the less).
and what else would they want from ghostbusters besides it's concept? -
I didn't even know he did movie reviews, so I wasn't sure why people would roast him for not reviewing it.
-
As someone who hasn't seen the original Ghostbusters, I decided to watch both trailers to get an cold turkey viewpoint on them. None of the jokes in the trailer were funny, and the first trailer got off to an awful start with its vomit "gag" and body cavity "joke". The rest of the "humor" depended entirely on childish acts, dull one liners, and stereotyping. Seriously, the black character nullifies any championing of this film as pro-feminist. Other than that the action sequences were standard, nothing really attention grabbing. The second trailer was pretty much the same in terms of content quality. Only this time we have Hemsworth playing a caricature of a foolish fanboy of the protagonists with his stupidity feeling forced rather than comical. And of course the worst "joke" of the trailer was the black woman's "race thing/gender thing" combination. Not a smart move given general opinion on this film, and regardless playing the race/gender card for humor is a very tricky thing.
Overall the trailers resemble those of run of the mill children's animations and Adam Sandler comedies, where you know the movie is not going to be good upon seeing them. Of course, Ghostbusters could be good and the studio just sucks at making trailers. But the lackluster trailers don't give me hope for this film, and I doubt I'll be seeing it. And I understand the hate, given that these trailers promise nothing more than a lackluster at best reboot of a cherished film. If Star Wars 7 simply copied Episode 4's plot with a female Luke and Han, and the film's iconic moments were replaced by cheap cinematography and awful dialogue, the reaction to this film would not hold a candle to the vitriol directed at Star Wars 7. It's just simply how you don't do a reboot. An example of a good reboot would be the Jungle Book, which copied the plots of its base material but did so with heart and the changes it made were done with the intention of improving weaker aspects of the plot, not just because they could.
-
@Kaido:
An example of a good reboot would be the Jungle Book,
I would think one would classify the recent Jungle Book movie as a adaptation and less of a reboot.
-
fucking fart jokes. a sign of a good comedy movie.
-
Generic dumb comedy cosplaying as ghostbusters…yep.
-

i hope sony will cancel this clusterfuck
but its 2 late now -
Eww.
-
Eww.
-
Well, at least one good thing is coming from this.
Note that the actual movie clips are still the worst part of this video.
Also, Ghostbusters 3, why not.
-
Actually…I wouldn't have minded if there were a Japanese rendition of Ghostbusters featuring just women. Something about it just sounds...goofily hilarious with a lot of weird potential.

I agree. Goofy it will be indeed and I dare say with more fun action
-
I don't mind at all the idea of there being an american all female ghostbusters team. That's fine.
That the movie looks incredibly stupid and bad and not funny is the problem.
-
The Japanese Ghosbuster burgers look better at this point, and they kinda look awful.
-
I always marvel at the Japanese and their ability to come up with some crazy shit for people to eat and yet still look more appetizing than some of the stuff we make.
-
I'm still looking forward to this movie. :)

They defeat the "final boss" (who just so happens to look like a giant monster version of the ghostbusters logo) by crossing the streams….and shooting it in the "dick".I'm not fucking kidding.

UGH .
Seriously.
UGH.

Eh, he's a food critic, so I don't think he's a good source to go on. I'd just wait until the embargo properly drops first. Besides, he goes and says the original was great because it was "not in on the joke". Yeah, the movie with the giant Stay Puft Marshmallow man is "not in on the joke". He DOES realise that the original Ghostbusters was a comedy, right?
