@Monkey:
Because a coup means they would have to be removed from their role in the story? Them being the leaders of the WG and all, it would probably be pretty important for Akainu to get rid of them if he wants to be the leader of the WG? .
A coup means they get new roles, nothing more.
@Monkey:
Akainu is motivated by good (his methods of achieving it are villainous). And appears to have had some sort of traumatic childhood going off his kid pic.
He's hardly somehow more evil than other villains..
Akainu is not motivated by good. Hell, that entire first sentence makes no sense. For a second let's pretend he was motivated by "good"(which he isn't), his actions would still make him the biggest abomination in the series so far. Like that line from a movie i can't remember, "some of the worst attrocities have been committed with the best of intentions". It does not matter one bit if his motivation is noble if he's more terrible than anybody else on the planet. And that's all assuming he WAS motivated by "good". Which he is not, like i said. He's motivated by rules set up by other people who may or may not have no idea what they're doing. That is not good. Even when following "justice" it isn't good, because "justice" isn't good. It's civilized revenge. Akainu is evil in human form at worst and a blind fool at best. In my opinion he is the one true evil in this series and nobody comes close.
Saying all that, Akainu is a necessary evil. I am willing to look the other way on his actions because of monsters like Kaido and his "Calamities"(which is just crazy and scary to think about). These monsters justify Akainu and his actions. And i know the world isn't perfect so i'd rather deal with Akainu who is civilized than deal with these savages who only want blood and guts. It is ironic and Akainu himself is a paradox. He is only allowed to exist because of the pirates he hates so.
Saying all of THAT, Akainu is the one true evil in this series. Once the Yonkos get taken down(except BB who is obviously the final villlain) and pirates become less monstrous under Luffys "rule", Akainu will become the only evil to get rid of. Like i said, the only reason Akainu can exist is because of these pirates. Without them, he will have total control and become an evil that the entire world must unite against. That's my opinion on how he will be taken down, as the second to last villain and the only character in the entire series that i will consider truly evil.
@Monkey:
These are the guys tolerating, ordering, and setting policy that is favorable to the same exact logic Akainu operates by.
Akainu is the bloody spear tip of the policies favored by the leadership of the Gorosei. They're actually very similar sets of characters.
I'd say you're extremely confused about the Gorosei. Their whole role is "Guys who stand for law and order and the status quo at any cost".
Not really. The elder stars have shown regret and humanity. Akainu has already proven that he considers that weakness. He already has been shown to somewhat defy them, somewhat. Akainu will eventually get rid of them.
Akainu was a spear, but he's also a scheming bastard and he's been given way too much power. There is only one outcome in this scenario.
@Monkey:
It's almost like the WG isn't intended on being that mega major evil villain for the end anyway.
The current WG is definitely very civilized and not worthy of a final villain. An Akainu led dictatorship is the perfect second to last enemy the entire world and every character in the series not currently a marine can unite against.
@Monkey:
Yeah you really don't seem to be following Oda's characterization of them at all.
Goes both ways.
