Holy Shit, they not only got off the boat (remember, that happened before with the Sea God) but actually reached the fabled Elfhelm, first revealed as their goal waaaaay back when Guts fought Zodd in the Valley of Swords back when curing Casca's insanity seemed like something that would happen sooner rather than later. It's been about 15 years since Puck has been giving Guts nightmares about "Elf Hell." Guts should have some sort of self-induced PTSD in anticipating being swarmed by Pucks and Ivarelas on all sides and may very well have his mind shattered into a state similar to Casca's once it actually happens.
You can hate the cast, but enjoy the story. There's very little to like about these characters from my point of view. Guts drives the story when they're around so I tolerate them except when they're obnoxiously annoying. They haven't even been in the series since the story cut away from them.
I have to admit, I haven't been too keen on how the youths have come uncomfortably close to dominating the series since Guts first met Isidro, which has lately branched out into the Griffith portion. I'm hoping this all builds up to a major time-skip where they are all older and actually have some dim hope of contributing in the inevitable major battle without having to rely almost entirely on Schierke and Guts to save the day yet again and perhaps even become multi-layered characters.
I will also have to say that aside from the recent flashback, Guts actually hasn't been much of a driving force storywise for quite a while, not since he saddled with the new group and their issues. It's been all Griffith and occasionally some second bananas. He's otherwise just been a battle-wise straight man a majority of the time, either a super-human swordsman swinging away at enemies or a mere spectator to the Schierke's wisdom or the earth-shattering events happening around him, or just a deadpan stump for Puck to sit on. He doesn't even seem to emote much anymore. That is when he's not hacking monsters to death. Isidro was arguably more of a driving force in their last adventure. His vengeance seems to have cooled quite a bit, seemingly a byproduct of being suited up in his own anger-management class 24/7, though it has not been explored nearly as much as I would have liked.
Hopefully reaching Elfhelm will get some of that blood flowing (I mean his own).
"But guys, don't you see? After this arc is over they'll need to get back on the boat again. >:]"

Hopefully by then the King cures Casca? It won't matter so much considering such a major goal is suppose to be achieved on this island. Heck, even seeing the King himself should be some sort or major feat considering he was first teased 10 years ago.
Sure it could turn out that the King is gone or dead or Puck lied to him just so Guts would have an excuse to put up with him–in which case a certain elf will meet an untimely end in the near future.
Talk about a boatload of trouble.
Talk about a boatload of trouble.
What if it's like fake Namek and we're back on boat again?
That would be sublime lol.
I hope the boat captain and his crew stick around as part of Gutts' Posse, which is already getting pretty substantial.
Well there's a translation out there. It's a bit mangapandaish but hey.

Mangapanda? More like Duwang.
Yes it is…very very abnormal. This might not be series for you if you despise Guts new party.
Berserk wasnt about Guts & his merry friends before you know.
The hawks on the golden age were great characters and so were Serpico and Farnese when they first teamed up at Albion, things just derrailed from there on.
Im so glad Guts is finally off the damn boat and the plot can finally move forward.
Once Casca is healed I hope she doesnt pull a Sakura and sides with Griffith.

Yeah there are TON of stuff on Berserk besides Guts new companions (beside Caska) but whole 'lone swordsman' has been done by now, we know what waits in end of that path, specially with berserker armor Guts would become almost like rabid dog. I think Guts is almost more dependant of his companions than they are from him, he is powerhouse of the party but he is also one step away from complete insanity, also Caska really don't like Guts that much though its not that bad anymore and she don't even freak out anymore when Guts is near.
I don't even want to think about what Caska will do if her mental 'condition' will be healed… remembering full carnage and horror of Eclipse what was so dramatic that mind protected itself by escaping to insanity would certainly push Caska to new direction, I am not sure would she ever be able to trust anyone after such callback. Although she also can be 'healed' such way that she only has faint clue what happened during Eclipse and post events...
I'm gonna be honest. I don't know 90 percent of those people and I have no intention of knowing they.
So Myura seems to be planning a timeskip for the outside world. The question is, why?
I gave it a quick thought and I can't think of any ongoing process outside of Elfheim that would benefit from a timeskip. I'm clueless.
What I do know though is that Guts just got a nice bit of character development. He's come full circle from the lone swordsman to the leader of his little band. That little speech there reminds me of Luffys talk at Arlong Park. You know the, I can't cook or navigate or use a sword, I can't even lie, but I can kick your ass, thing. Exiting times for Berserk fans. For the first time in years I am really back into this manga.
has anyone noticed how many times the words 'what're those' are used in Berserk. I thought of saving all the panels, pretty sure there's been 5-6 instances, it's kinda funny
Is it abnormal for me to despise the main cast? I hate everyone besides Guts & Griffth. I hate Puck, Isidro & Farnese the most.
…. It's extremely abnormal if you hate these characters especially Farnese who is a great character and has grown a lot since her first appearance.

Berserk wasnt about Guts & his merry friends before you know.

Not sure what you are talking about since Berserk is just as amazing as it was in the beginning.
I chuckled at Puck breaking the 4th wall.
If someone is gonna die next chapter, then kill Farneze brother, no one would care if he died.
Serpico didn't do nothing wrong. And nobody's going to die next chapter. I don't even see why anyone would except maybe some grunts from the ship who step in the way of some scarecrows
Man I've actually missed Puck and his shenanigans
We're actually getting closer to healing Casca (or atleast that's what's assumed), this is probably the most anticipated thing in the manga right now.
I don't know what will happen and it doesn't look too good for Gutts (especially with that scene with the Skull knight) but damn i want him to have something nice going on for him at last.
I gave it a quick thought and I can't think of any ongoing process outside of Elfheim that would benefit from a timeskip. I'm clueless.
Because literally half the cast are children at this point and need time to come into their own? (counting Rickerts and co.) So the princess can become Queen? So that a reasonable amount of time can be devoted to Caska becoming sane again and getting back into fighting shape? So the world has time to adjust to its new horrible merged status quo?
The advent of a timeskip has been likely since Guts adopted his new family nd it became clear they weren't going to be one arc characters, and has been loooong coming.

Everyone in Gut's group is effectively immortal till the finale. We've already had the horror of the Eclipse, nothing is going to match that, so we're not going through that again. You can still do horrible things to them sure, but… the author has pulled back from the sheer horror awfulness over the years. He's matured past the pure grim shock value crap that makes you queezy to look at.
And Sepricio is awesome, what's your problem? I can understand the complaints about Puck and the kids (I don't agree but I understand), but Mr. Fast Sword?
"The Prologue of Berserk" is probably the funniest things I've seen involving Puck. Which is something because the laugh to joke ratio regarding him is usually not very good.
This arc seems to be setting up more of a fable/fantasy adventure so it's not worthwhile to expect anything too grim or serious. That is until Casca starts taking center stage again. If she does get cured, there's no way the series can soft-pedal the aftermath. It could also easily cause a rift in the group depending on how she takes it.

I agree there. Remember who among the Golden Age survived? The youngest characters. In this case, it's even more severe in which the "older characters" like Farnese and Serpico are around Guts and Casca's age during the Golden Age while Isidro and the other kids are preteens. Well, except Schierke whom I imagine can live hundreds of years and ages much slower. There's gotta be some sort of skip
Also these main 5 (including Farnese and Serpico) characters have gotten the most character development and are poised for more. Even Isma. Roderick is just in it for the adventure and Magnifico for wealth (and 'cuz it's safe hiding under Gut's cloak). Azan has got next to nothing aside from his first appearance in the Black Swordsman era–he just seems to be a drunken knight that stumbled into their party. Not even sure if he's ever left his armor since. How many lines has he spoken since actually joining? Maybe a set-up for a dramatic reveal?
This chapter also provides some additional fuel for that. Like perhaps Guts and Casca stay on the island too long while the rest leave so when they reunite the younger characters will have "caught up" with Guts while meanwhile they have alternate adventures with Rickert, who will also mature into manhood over time. Puck is potentially ageless so it would not affect him hardly.
I agree in the overall tone and sheer horror of the series. The last truly horrific scene involved the Kushan General transforming his army into demons or some-such using fetuses and the like. Nothing has come close to that since. I think things will eventually swing back into a darker tone, but likely not as severe as the first decade or so of the series.
Also, regarding the Eclipse, the average manga reader up to that time had to have known something like that going to happen. Griffith was already revealed to be some sort of demon, Guts was a wandering psychopath, you knew he had to have lost nearly everything. Only the sheer horror of it and how it happened remained a surprise (along with the few survivors). With this, there is no foreshadowing anyone in the cast is going to die. Not even Guts at this point.

I'm not sure we'll get a full on timeskip, since they said Elf Island time moves slower. So I think we'll get a sort of one, where only a year or two max passes for Guts and his group, but a decade or two passes outside so Rickert is now a full-grown badass, but Isidoro and Schierke are still teens
Magnifico owns and I have money banked on him playing a key role in Griffith's defeat.
Anyway, I see the timeskip being prompted by Casca getting de-PTSD'd, causing Gutts to basically retire and slip into domesticity with his new family on Great Fairy Island. A few years of this, until something happens that compels Gutts + entourage to come back to the world and start actively trying to deal with Griffith.

Rickerts group would be the counterexample for the usefullness of a timeskip at the present to me. They are in the middle of a plot line right now. So far Miura did not shy away from putting his main characters on the back burner for a while to show the events in Falconia. So why skip the rest of it? Unless his editor told him to cut that shit…
Charlotte? Maybe. I don't know how important of a character she will be. She's in love with Griffith but I can't see him loving her back. So her influence on him is very limited. If she is to be important she could do with a few years experiance as queen under her belt.
Since Casca is in Elfhelm she would not be affected.

Farnese is just as annoying as Isidro. I've stopped reading what Puck says at a certain point because he never has anything interesting to say. He makes a lot of corny jokes and his comments are irrelevant most of the time. Casca doesn't even have a character anymore. I can tolerate the rest.

Damn… Farnese is one of my favorite characters in whole series, she has had such a massive amount of character development and come such a long way from sadistic silver spooned inquisitor to sorceress apprentice, she used to be a dead weight to group but now she is one of most important ones...
How can anyone hate Puck? Not grimdark enough?
Looking forward to a HnK type timeskip. Imagine the world becoming like Falconia while Guts lives the quiet life with Caska… Only to have him return after X number of years, stronger than before, with a newly grown up cast of characters all rising up against Griffith's "perfect world", which is actually a facade, characterized by oppression of the weak and funnelling of the wealth.
Basically, Berserk needs to hype up the darkness factor again and give Guts a reason to fight (more than just revenge)... otherwise Guts' struggle against Griffith (and his win) would lack oompf.

Hopefully the quality doesnt decrease even more like HnK did during the timeskip.
Once Casca goes back to normal, hopefully she becomes a fighter again, she needs to have some keyrole for Griffiths defeat EOS.
Miura has been hyping up the Age of Darkness since forever. He's not going to skip it. A timeskip now would advance time enough that when Guts crew goes back to Midland, the Age of Darkness will be in full effect. With Guts crew being more experienced from whatever they learned at Elfheim. And if Miura decides to age up the younger people in Guts's current crew all he has to do is have a few of them leave earlier while Guts stays with Casca. So when Guts leaves Elfheim and reunites with some of them they'll be older.
It's either going to be a very small or very large time skip, but my guess is maybe 3-4 years at the most.
…......
Not sure what you are talking about since Berserk is just as amazing as it was in the beginning.
pretty much…any first timer who would read it in one go will find the quality intact....
I got good news and bad news
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-12-21/berserk-gets-new-anime-project-featuring-guts-as-black-swordsman/.96773
Good news is, Berserk's getting more anime in 2016.
Bad news, is… you didn't think it would last, did you? you poor, poor souls...
In addition, Miura will put his Berserk manga on hiatus, with the next chapter coming in "around" summer next year. The manga will also then be published as an irregular series.
CGI is back.
!
Fuck CGI
Fuck Hiatuses
Fuck my life
My christmas is now ruined
so no more chapter until next summer?
I always enjoy it when a new chapter is released, but this lazy money-grubbing despicable of Miura puts me off.
lol, Miura trolled us good. Who needs a timeskip when you can have a hiatus. I wonder if a new Idolmaster game is coming out or if he is finally going to start watching Cinderella Girls.
The pic looks like to be from when he's sleeping in the windmill during the Lost Children arc.
!

I take it Idolmaster is the equivalent to Dragon Quest for Togashi?

I think you mix Miura and Togashi (HxH author). Togashi is infamous deadbeat who can spend year playing Idolmaster but Miura has rather interesting publishing method though Dark Horse. Which is still damn shame because both Togashi and Miura are masterful mangaka's with depth of stories but other manga authors to shame but they cant be called dependable either.
Fairy Tail author (Mashima) is complete opposite, he has massive work morale and spits out chapters and extra's at tremendous rate but while his art is quite great everything else suck ass. Quality is worth waiting in the end

Togashi is Dragon Quest. Miura is Idolmaster.
He drew this right before he went on hiatus a long time ago.
