@Razh:
You're talking from the perspective of a reader. Dofla didn't know Luffy could punch through his non-hardened string net and hardened spikes.
Also, Oda didn't need to make Luffy with G4 vs Dofla so one-sided. Anything would have been better than that 10 minute time out. I would have preferred a more even fight in the end game, that's all.
Heh, maybe Dofla should have just made a small birdcage to defend himself, no way Luffy would have broken that. :ninja:
Wait, so Doula should have used a string spike armor just to see it being useless? In that case, we would've been calling Doula dumb for trying to defeat Luffy with string spikes even though he knew Luffy could punch through them.
@Razh:
A string whip that cuts through buildings like a hot knife through butter can't really be called lame One of those Overheats, and the only one he ever used against Luffy, if I remember well, actually cut Luffy's leg, because he dodged it at the last moment. It's one of his best moves and there's no reason for him not to use it more often.
Speaking of Awakening and all those strings, imagine Dofla creating several Overheats all at once.
Dude, Doula's regular string attack can cut through meteors. The only thing Overheat has is insane range (which the awakened strings also have). Not to mention it was easily blocked by Law, so it's not that strong. I don't know if it cut through Luffy's leg, but it's not like he used CoA to defend against it anyway.
In fact, the 3 times Doula used it, it failed to cause any significant damage to any of his opponents. Not something I would call as one of his best moves.
It would do even worse against G4, thanks to Luffy having an overall stronger body in that state.
