So at what point does Amy Schumer start being funny?
I know Comedy Central is trying to pretend she's the next big thing and all, but…

Will never eat Jello Pudding again.
Cosby hasn't advertised that since the 90's hell I don't even know when was the last time they advertised Jello pudding.
So at what point does Amy Schumer start being funny?
I know Comedy Central is trying to pretend she's the next big thing and all, but…
Didn't they try this with Sarah Silverman?

Unless they had some role in facilitating Cosby's shenanigans or covering it up, there's no need to be that way.
If people judged companies by past associations, then nobody would ever eat any kind of fruit. Especially bananas or pineapples.

Eat a pineapple while listening to a version of Aloha Oe and hate yourself forever.

I got plenty of laughs out of Trainwreck. It was dumb, granted, but that's not a bad thing. Like the comedy equivalent of a dumb action flick.
Although that said, that'd been my only exposure to her. That clip didn't do much for me.

weird right. She's in a great movie, winning awards, show gets great reviews. When will Comedy Central end this charade.
watch like nobody's raping..
well I love it.

But… her show isn't funny.
At all.
It's just shock humor. "ooh, she made a sex joke, and she's a woman!" is what her entire repertoire consists of.
She's good at getting talked about. Excellent publicist that knows how to get her name out there every 2 weeks. "Oh look, she's on a magazine cover having sex with C-3PO and treating a lightsaber like a dildo!"
But her show isn't funny.
And if that one gimmick is all she has in her, with no deeper layers or variation or insight, people will get tired of it pretty quick as it comes to be expected of her.
In another year or two her career will be done and no one will talk about her, just like other "shocking" comedians whose entire shtick is being rude or talking about sex. Just like Carlos Mencia (who has thankfully fallen completely off the face of the planet) or Sarah Silverman (who is still getting plenty of work but isn't being touted as anything now). I have no idea how Daniel Tosh still has a show, it must cost literally nothing to produce having no writers and being entirely youtube clips.
And no, getting awards or lots of views does not immediately mean "quality". It often means "good publicist" and "money being put behind them."

I often wonder the same about Melissa McCarthy, expect replace "sex joke" with "fat joke". Not once have I considered her even remotely humorous in any film she's been in, and her Mike & Molly TV show with Kevin James is downright atrocious and cringe-inducing.

That's Billy Gardell not Kevin James, Kevin James is the fat guy from "King Of Queens" that makes movies no one watches unless he's a co-star in the film.

I don't think that's fair. All Louis CK does is shock humor and talk about how disgusting it is to be him. Being him meaning life from the male perspective. I think he's hilarious. A lot of people think he's hilarious.
Dave Chapelle's stand up and large portions of his show could be summed up with "black people are different from white people"
One of George Carlin's most popular sets is "Seven Words You Can't Say" the guy is considered a legend.
Jim Gaffigan has made an entire career off being slightly overweight and talking about what he eats.
Every comedian has a shitck. A large part of Amy's is being a woman. If she were a man talking about his life with women, hanging out with his friends, struggling to get laid, first dates, first marriages, you know his life, people wouldn't be giving him shit for it. It's a well that a lot of comedians get free license to draw from but for some reason when Amy draws from her perspective her entire show and routine is dismissed as just being about a woman.
Her show is funny. And it's more than sex jokes as anyone who actually watches it would be able to tell you. And yes a lot of it is about being a woman. And I don't see any reason why that should be counted against her if it's done right and she's doing it right.
That is gold. I don't care what you say.

The designs have killed any interest I might have had in it.
The uniforms just look awful.
-
I've ended up seeing several episode of her show since Comedy Central airs it nearly nonstop.
She isn't funny.
Not because she's a woman or because she makes sex jokes. Other comedians do the same thing and are fine.
She just isn't funny.
I shudder to think about the fact she was apparently offered the Daily Show.
-

eh none of that is what made the original so great though, designs
it was odd comedian chemistry with a vaguely absurd plot involving ghosts in it somewhere -
The new ghostbusters looks great imo. Can't wait to see it
Kinda gives me OitnB vibes which is nice
-
"new ghostbusters?"
Damn I've been living under a rock! … well not really, just don't have cable and without can't get TV reception... so no viewing pleasure for me

Guess internet capable devices are a no-go either?
Though the movie isn't out yet anyway so you got time.

@Cyan:
What even is Trump's base at this point? Besides the racists? Really bitter small business owners who actually bought that "run the country like a business" insanity back in 2012?
http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/20/politics/donald-trump-john-mccain-poll-reaction/index.html
New polling released Monday – nationally and in Iowa -- finds Donald Trump squarely in the top tier of candidates, but raises some questions about whether he'll be able to maintain that standing.
Overall, the new national poll from the Washington Post and ABC News finds Trump at the top of the field nationally with 24% support among Republican registered voters, well ahead of his closest rivals, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (13%) and Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (12%).
The Republican party is really screwed. It's turning into a cesspool of insane and demented.
It was nowhere near THIS crazy back in the 90s, sheesh. -

Hmmm… I really don't watch Hulu or Netflix ... or know about anything else.
I've not seen any commericals on youtube to catch my attention.... okay there was a recent one for a Warhammer game that caught my attention -
Trump feels like a weird social experiment. "Will the American public support literally anybody? Can we drop the pretense that candidates actually have any sort of credentials?" Is this what it was like when regan was running?
-
I do not like DONALD TRUMP. HE IS NOT A NICE GUY. I do not want him to be PRES.

http://news.yahoo.com/police-probing-death-la-1-200-guns-2-024948394.html#
Police investigating the death of a Los Angeles man uncovered an arsenal inside his home and garage — more than 1,200 guns and about two tons of ammunition.
He must've been a Republican. Was he planning on jumping into a pile of guns Scrooge McDuck style? :ninja:

Trump being Trump.
-
It's not even 2016 and I believe we're already living out the 2012 cycle of "CRAZY ASSHOLE RISES TO PROMINENCE THAN FLAMES OUT IN A FEW WEEKS" that inevitably leads the Republicans to their blandest most electable candidate.
I wonder which crazy will rise up in the headlines next. -
Hey that reminds me… whatever happened to Herman Cain?

Trump really is acting like an eternal teenager :getlost: give it up dude

Apparently people like that Trump is actually saying exactly what he thinks and feels rather than hedging things in politics talk. His opinions may be offensive and damaging to the party, but you know its what he actually means.

Not having a filter is a terrible quality to have in a statesman btw

I'm just waiting for Trump to reveal this was all just an elaborate ploy to mess with Superman.

Seems strange to think that no one else had thought about outright blaming the Mexicans.

The legal ones that have comes stateside make up a pretty sizable voting block.
Not that hating women, children, minorities, gays, and military veterans has stopped the Republicans up till now.

I'm almost sorry I'm even giving her the attention but just look how stupid she sounds. It's a mess of cringe worthy generalizations, war mongering, and a full display of ignorance and naivety packed into a 2 1/2 minute assault to anyone's intelligence. I think we found Donald Trump's running mate.

She seems way too young to have her own show.
And she barely even mentioned Jesus, or how he's totally into bombing the middle east.

And what's really sad about her age is people will commend her for being "so smart" at such a young age when in fact she's one of those cases of young and dumb. Hey, we've all been there to certain degrees in our lives. The big difference with her is that she has her own talk show where she can influence others with her terrible stupidity.
And she's totally into bombing the entire middle east "desert" herself.
-

It's usually just the peripheral candidates that do that; since the Civil Rights Movement, the frontrunners traditionally just use codewords to attack minorities.

Not to be, dunno ageist? Or something. But who takes their political advice from an eighteen year old.

Being super prejudice against Muslims will really help in fighting the terrorist groups that hide in and fight within Muslim countries.
Like the number one fighters against ISIS are the Kurds, but they're Muslim so let's make sure to treat them with disrespect and hate too. It's a winning strategy. Also we are bombing ISIS, Al Qaeda, and the Taliban. What is she even talking about.

I reckon she had more of an indiscriminate carpet bombing thing in mind.
Y'know those that solve all problems, and don't plant seeds for future backlashes

Considering we're aiding the Kurds (Libya style) with precise strikes that can help them make advancements on the ground and stuff it really doesn't make even basic military sense.

She seems to view it as more of a punitive expedition than anything else.
Like they dared raise their hands against us, now they must pay in blood.

With conventional munitions. Those hardly even count.

Story 1:http://news.yahoo.com/utah-teenager-ordered-held-killing-12-old-girl-201615530.html
A 15-year-old teenage boy lured a 12-year-old neighbor girl out of her Utah home by asking for help looking for his lost cat, then strangled her and left her body in a field with a shirt around her neck, prosecutors said Tuesday.
Story 2:http://www.starpulse.com/news/index.php/2015/07/21/update-on-chained-dog-set-on-fire-beca
A teenage boy was arrested on July 13th after setting the family dog on fire, apparently frustrated that the dog was not potty-trained.
What the Goddamn Fuck is WRONG with Kids today?!
Like, I can't even comprehend the level of psychosis

There has to be some motive with regards to the first story no way you lure a complete stranger out of their home with the explicit purpose of killing them.
-
If she was a neighbor then they weren't COMPLETE strangers.

There has to be some motive with regards to the first story no way you lure a complete stranger out of their home with the explicit purpose of killing them.
According to the article, there was no previous connection between the kid and the victim (aside from living in the same neighboorhood and perhaps going to the same school district), and he had tried to lure a completely different girl with the same ruse 20 minutes earlier, but that didn't work, so he knocked on their house. The victim's 14-year old sister answered first, and she wouldn't follow him, so he then targeted the younger sibling.
It really seems like he was attempting to lure anyone who was young and susceptible enough away to be murdered.
