@Desperado:
Thinking process that lead to Gear 4:
"Dude, I wrote myself into the corner again. To solve this, I need a really clever twist or another super say… errr mode. Ok, super mode then. What shall it be? I already did heating up and inflation. What else can you do with rubber? Whatever, I will just slap something together from old stuff. "
wrote himself into a corner? what are you talking about? do you want to try and actually explain that? i don't care if you don't like it, but making up an accusation like that just because you don't like it is lazier than the person you are claiming to be lazy. i mean, what is asura? what are deathwinks? just because you want to dislike it doesn't mean you need to make things up and make that your opinion, that's really silly.
please tell us your more clever, not asspull improvement you'd have done? aren't all zoro's attacks some slapped together from swordy slashy stuff?
boundman is five entirely new elements to luffy's fighting style:
-huge musculature
-limb retraction/extension which eliminates the long open windups, with triple the damage, as doflamingo says
-inflation for defense and maximizing physical tanking as well as making the most use of his rubber body. in fact it looked like doflamingo did no damage at all to a weak spot on luffy with a full on hamstring/athlete kick which is no joke at all, and his shoe didnt come close to piercing.
-the haki seems to be an asura like spirit manifestation as well since we see it not only as haki but a kind of stylized manifestation to the form, and is an improvement upon summoning haki on and off for each attack
-flying
these are of course in a really loose and stuffy way, technically "slapped together from old stuff". but it's really not, and it's lame to try and pin that on g4.
