I wouldn't mind buying the latest chapters of the JUMP manga. I already buy the Soul Eater NOT! chapters on amazon. I'd prefer it if they would do it like YenPress since I can't buy a subscription here in Luxembourg. If they would sell the chapters on amazon, I could buy them.
Chapter 757: The Trump Card

About time, now let me introduce you guys to Viz Manga, is the international official manga site. Go and subscribe now only 25$ a year every issue is released at the same date as the Japanese issues.
^^^ 16 characters of this!
-
So when will have the scanlated 758? Sorry to ask
-
I just noticed on the first page there is a Viz upload for this chapter. Is that the official translation from Stephen ripped from digital Shonen Jump?

It is. Should that really be there?
-
@Galaxy:
It is. Should that really be there?
Absolutely not. Is this the first time it's happened? I haven't noticed that from previous chapters but that should not be up there. I am a slight hypocrite because I read the fan scanlations but I do buy physical volumes and have been buying digital Shonen jump since day one.
That needs to be taken down now and we should never be linked to that again.
-
I wouldn't mind this as much if we weren't embroiled in the middle of the slowest moving arc we've had in a while. We need this thing to move as fast as possible.. not wait even longer to get it done.

I'm willing to pay.. that's a small fee for a full year, but will they be translated and where exactly does my money go? I mean does VIZ get most of it or does it go directly to Shonen Jump?
-
What RomanceDawn said. Under no circumstances can a rip of the official SJ version be posted here. Future offenders will receive a one-time warning, and then a perma ban.

VIZ = the American publisher of Shonen Jump. OP is translated for them by a cool dude named Stephen who is a member of this forum.
-
A pity Viz isn't available in non-english speaking countries… Otherwise I would have subscribed immediately. I'll be quite pleased, if Panda and Stream would not be shut down, and I hope that Powermanga will continue their work.

no One Piece on midweekYour avatar works great with that post :)
As for Viz, screw them. Why don't they want my dirty German money? I don't get it. The manga market in Germany is relatively big too. English shouldn't be an issue.
-
yeah i bet sneaky Mister Oda has the last Chapter allready finished and locked in his safe and just keeps us waiting :)
Ugh, I sure hope not. His art for the first few years was pretty bad.

If you read from tablet, then you can easily create a US account and use pre-paid card to charge the account and buy 1 year subscription

Yep compare to before it so much better give or take a few things.
-
What happanned while I was gone? The scans will only be released on fridays?

Ahhh this sounds like TV series only allowing the American population to watch their previews on Youtube despite receiving a big amount of rating from Europe and Central America.

The wrath of Japan has finally unleashed boy, we're at war

And for our audience that does not live in English speaking first world countries: Fuck you losers! HA!
Hillariously enough, being fluent in english does not makes it easier for me to get it. Imagine that.
I would pirate Shueisha stuff a lot less if they actually allowed me to fucking buy it.
-
@Lao:

What do you mean "non-english speaking countries" ?
Viz is NOT available in India, and last time I checked English was the official language of India.
I suspect Viz is not available in Australia either.Though I've heard there are ways around this
If you have a US credit card or bank account, you can link it to Google play to purchase One Piece comic books on Google play.

True.
I would subscribe, but it's only for Androids isn't it?

Truth has been spoken.
As for a change in the release schedule, it shouldn't be very hard to adjust.

You're not American?
-
You're not American?
Nope. I live in Poland, currently. Born here, as well.
And the fact that you could actually make that mistake shows how stupid lack of international availability for Viz is.
And for people citing legal difficulties, I do not believe for a second that it is impossible for Shueisha to deal with it. I believe they are unwilling to do it, though.
-
whoa whoa. Last time I checked there is no official language in india. Even hindi is not the official language. I think you want to say most of the ppl here speak and use english comfortably which is true enough. But I dunno about the size of the manga market.
-
Dark, I did not aware of this, I have just checked the Viz Manga but it forwards to Viz site. I could not find a way to purchase manga to view on web site. There are some apps, I have just tried VizManga app on Android but it says it is not available in Turkey. Is there a purchase type where I could view manga on web page not on an app.
Sorry about that but Viz media(manga) is only available to limited countries. You have to check and see if your country is allowed.
-
So we're moving to Friday releases?
Hrm. Well, I've enjoyed the Wednesday releases for a good while, fit into my weekly schedule rather nicely overall, but I can wait a few days no problem.
I'd like confirmation if this is a one-off event or the new norm, just so I don't disappoint myself next Wednesday.
-
that app for non-americans looks good. I do have an android i never use. Maybe it's time i started paying
-
Really? It's that cheap and I've been dealing with MP shitty scans all this time?
Yes it's that cheap, with better quality HD images and perfect understanding translation.
-
I'm willing to pay.. that's a small fee for a full year, but will they be translated and where exactly does my money go? I mean does VIZ get most of it or does it go directly to Shonen Jump?
Just like CCC said, Viz is American publisher of Shonen jump so money goes on both I guess.

True.

Viz is available for Androids, apple store, or on Viz website. I read mine on iPad and I will tell ya it's better than anything you've read one piece on.
-
Nope. I live in Poland, currently. Born here, as well.
Lol. By currently you mean you lived elsewhere too?
-
Lol. By currently you mean you lived elsewhere too?
No, that I do not rule out possibility of living elsewhere in foreseeable future.
Also, I wish "lol" would just go and die in the corner. Horribly and in pain.

I have none, I'll probably be buying a smartphone, but you can only read on it right? Reading it on a smatphone sucks.
EDIT: Oh, wait you can read it on the website? I'll have a look at that then.
-

Damn, I don't have a tablet.
Is the translation really that good? I've heard people complain that it's very… piratey. Childish/cartoonish, arr arr arr! style!

Don't take offense in "lol". You don't why I laughed that you live in Poland.

Viz manga is worth it guys. Every Monday you get HD, perfect translation for about 6 or more different manga's which sometimes total more than 200 pages.(one piece is translated by Stephen he's really good at this).
Volumes of most manga's is sold for 4$ some are free. Not only that but you also get free stuff in the mail, yes they will send you free stuffs relating to anime/manga(most time is anime cards) to your home address so I will advise you to use your real home address when registering.
And you get more things like when shonen jump is on break, the VIZ manga releases a one-shot series of a kind to help you wait for shonen jump next issue to come out.
Only for $25 sometimes less. Welcome to the family guys!–- Update From New Post Merge ---

The translation is more than good, the translation will help understand things and humors as close as the Japanese will understand theirs.
Example: Luffy "UCY" joke most including me didn't get it, it wasn't funny but in VIZ it was translated as "MOOCY" which is funny since bulls go moo.EDIT: I think you can read it on there website too, only problem is availability in your country.
-
Yess let's all start paying so Oda can afford the G6 private plane and not have to settle for the G5….

Not paying for the ability to read manga on my 4 inch screen android smartphone. And not buying a tablet that would be of no use to me otherwise just to get it.
In the era where I can instantly buy my games on steam, for example, with hardly any difficulty, I am not going to put that much bloody effort for Viz to take my money. Their product might be superior, but only when you have actual way to view it properly.
Either them, or Shueisha, should put effort to make it available. If they do not, then sorry, I'm gonna read inferior quality scans that I still get three days earlier if the estimation are correct.
-

True, paying helps Oda
- paying helps shonen jump
- paying help create jobs.
People who can speak different languages can easily get a job during translation for sites like this and is legal too.

Well you can call it whatever you want, I'm one of those guys who finds good stuff then proceeds to invite others to enjoy that good stuff with. No one is forcing you, is your opinion, VIZ is not yet perfect, but for them to approach or reach perfection more people need to support them and they will be able to give more options than they already have.

Some of the old english volumes have some of that talk but even then it isn't that bad and doesn't really detract from much. The story is still the same old story we know and love.
What we are reading, especially since the awesomely amazing Stephen has been at the helm, has been absolutely fantastic! Translated in a way that makes it very understandable and he explains certain translation choices on the One Piece podcast. Not that you can legitimately get it but it is worth every tiny little penny spent on it. Don't let Zolo dumbos persuade you especially if you haven't gotten the chance to read them yet.

I know you're joking but there's a hint of seriousness in there. Everyone should be paying if they have access to the legit official product in their countries. It's fun to read the chapters a little early, I get that, but if you really love something you should support it with your wallet. I wouldn't care one little bit if scanlations disappeared from the face of the earth and I'm happy to provide Oda with his G6 private plane.

Thanks Dark, I was really eager for such an opportunity to respect Oda sensei's work by buying the issues and the volumes. I'll try the "US account on tablet" solution by getting a tablet first :) Also, I have just sent an e-mail to ask viz about the country restriction case, I dont think it will be solved easily, but again it is a good starting point for my case :)

Yeah, pretty much this.
It's a shame because 25 $ a year is a steal, but I shouldn't have to work my around their restrictions. Matter of principle, really.

Unfortunately that's only in America, and not available for web browser viewing in other regions, for some so far unexplained reason.
