@JDub:
Oh, yes. The Moral Marines. Truly a paragon of morality and righteousness.
The Marines are about as moral as any other large organization. There are people within it who are good and just and fair (i.e. Fujitora), and there are those who lack morals and are corrupt (i.e. Captain Morgan). You can't make a blanket statement like "The Marines are moral!" for such a large organization, and you can't compare the morals of the Marines to those of the Revolutionaries, because we barely know ANYTHING about how the Revolutionaries operate. Comparing the Marines, a force that has been present throughout the series, to the Revolutionaries, a group we've seen very little of, isn't a fair comparison.
And you really couldn't detect a tiny, itsy-bitsy tone of irony in that sentence, did you?
I'm well aware of groups moral ambiguity. It's one of the reasons I like them in a first place.
I just find it hillarious that there are people that think that Sabo will burn a large portion of the city to stop marines in their track. Oda is not going to present him in that light, that much should be obvious.

@freedom:
I keep saying it hoping it'll sink in. For example, you are giving Smoker a hard time for losing to Law. At this level, I believe Oda is trying to show us that fights are circumstantial.
It all depends on who gets the upperhand for a long enough period. Otherwise, why put details about Garp and Roger, or about Roger and Whitebeard, Shanks and Mihawk, etc.
Isn't it to show that each fight isn't X owned Y!!? Luffy lost to Caesar on PH initially. Did you at any point think Caesar was stronger than Luffy? I know I never did.
No, I'm not giving Smoker hard time.
I'm critisizing the storyline for not providing anything to counter-balance his loses. Which is not the same. I would've been fine with Smoker losing as many times a he did, and in the manner that he did, if there was something to counter-balance it.
There is not.
@freedom:
So, to point. What ARE realistic expectations?
Fujitora isn't curbstomping any named character in this arc.
Really? Considering every other admirals got to curbstomp a lot of people, you consider that A realistic expectation?
But regardless, what you are basicaly mean by that is that Fujitora won't win any battles he participates in. He won't lose either, of course, but he won't win.
And I acknolewdge that.
I just find it bloody disappointing.
@freedom:
As for your complaint about Fujitora not doing anything, again, a place where I feel like you're not following the subtleties of the story.
- Fuji decides to stop Luffy and co instead of going after Doflamingo after Birdcage
- Luffy and co show up, and Fuji intercepts.
- Pica shows up and attacks everyone and scatters the fighters.
- Luffy and group return, Pica attacks again.
- Luffy and group are again separated from the Marines.
- Zoro stays to take on Pica, Luffy and group advance.
- Fuji and Marines try to pursue, Sabo interferes.
I see no problem with Fujitora's expectation.
… I have no problems with basics of following the plot thank you.
My grip is with plot being written this way in a first place.
@freedom:
Why? In a fantasy manga, is it unrealistic to expect one character to stop many.
The 3000 marines are a no consideration. So why even mention them…
Ehm… yes, when at the same he has to face one of the most powerful people on the planet?
@freedom:
I'll give you this. Fujitora may decide to battle Sabo one on one, and have the other marines move forward.
That would make the most sense. There are plenty of colosseum warriors to occupy the remaining marines.
At least on that, we can agree.
