Actually, I think Ivotas had a bad example.
Sanji ass kick by Calipha : Nobody saved him.
Calipha ass kick by Nami : Nobody saved her.
Fukurou ass kick by Franky : Nobody saved him.
Chopper ass kick by Kumadori : Nobody saved him.
Usopp ass kick by Jabura : Near death, Sanji saves him.
Point is, in the other fights, we know there's no backup, so said character was going to either stay down (as in the case of enemies), get back up and fight (which should be possible for enemies, and essential for strawhats), or have another character come along in the next chapter to save him/her (Nami - Sanji).
One I haven't mentioned is "Nami ass kick by Kumadori", in which case it seems to be the exact same scenario as "Soge ass kick by Jabura". Someone (Chopper, Sanji) comes to save them, and although Nami gets the annoyingly obvious chick fight, Soge seems with no major character left to fight save Spandam, if that counts, and let's face it, though he might be a threat with the sword, he's lame.
And about Buster Call, seeing Soge defeat ships and whatnot isn't nearly as satisfying watching him beat down a superhuman government assassin, as I'm sure many Usopp fans would agree with me.
That's why, I'm sour, though avoiding posting about it, find that Ivotas' reasoning is flawed and seek to justify why Usopp fans feel the way they do about the way he is handled in this situation.
