@blue-san:
Well idk
I didnt like this chapter.
I didnt like the entire, she forgot to make a contract with the strongest toy Kyros.
I didnt like the fact that Usopp is once again cowardly as hell and wants to abandon the "ship" or at least get away.
I didnt like that we are about to see Diamante explaining to Rebbeca about how her mother was killed to ignite her will, or some poo like that…
I didn't like the fact that entire chapter was dedicated to letting us know they are betting it all on one legged soldier because he is Kyros and had to show him get kicked around for 10 pages and make a run for it to make it all the more sympathetic or something.
I'm not trying to get your goat or anything, but I don't think I've ever seen you fully enjoy any chapter. Has there been any since the timeskip you've enjoyed? It's genuine question - not ragging on you or anything.
I thought it was a fine chapter overall - not fantastic, and the last one was much better, but decent as set-up goes.
-Trebol being so impulsive and quick-tempered will make the fight with Usopp & Robin even more interesting - his goo being flammable might also come in to play whenever that happens. Yeah, Usopp's still being a puss, but I'm hoping with this reveal about Kyros and with the dwarves being out of action, he's gonna buck up and make a difference. As people said in the last chapter thread - he's basically always going to be cowardly in some situations, but as we've always seen, he does what he has to do when the time really calls for it. With the dwarves beaten down by Trebol, he'll know that this is all squarely on his and Robin's shoulders now.
-I did like the flashback between Rebecca and Kyros. Her telling him to his face that Kyros isn't real is interesting - I'm really interested to see their interaction when he becomes human again. Though, seeing that they're both really incompetent (they're both getting whooped right now) makes it harder to root for them somehow. But it seems like one of the more realistic relationships in OP for me; they're both really scared and protective of each other, and neither believes that the other is strong enough to fight. And I guess what we're seeing is that neither of them really is, without assistance (dwarves for Kyros, Sabo/Barto for Rebecca)… I haven't decided yet if that disappoints me or not. To have the arc's main characters, the emotional core, be equally incapable of fighting for what they want without getting curbstomped is a little worrisome; Vivi fought in Alabasta, Robin & Franky fought at Enies Lobby, Brook on Thriller Bark. They're different of course, because most of them ended up being crewmembers (and are therefore stronger than your average bear), but having such significant characters do such a good job of getting thrashed is off-putting at the very least
-I'm not a full-on Rebecca hater, and in spite of my previous comment, seeing her futile attack and then getting straight whooped by Diamante was really satisfying. His power definitely has a lot of utility - I wonder if he's got a whole arsenal folded up in his pockets? And I don't think Rebecca's gonna beat him or anything, but I'm hoping at the very least that she takes something of a stand and actually tries to hurt him. Not some vengeance-power-up thing, but something more than this very un-gladiatorial shit. I feel like if there's any development to be had for Rebecca here, it's that sometimes you've got to hurt people to get what you want. That might further ruin the basis of her own personality though, so I'm not really sure about it.
-I understand Kyros had to be moved ahead, away from Lao G, to get to Doflamingo. But I really hope the fight between Lao G and the dwarves continues to play out - even if it's short, I'd like to see it finished one way or another.
-And obviously Soldier is Kyros, but the reason I really liked Leo's speech is because it reminds me of Usopp's speech about Luffy at Punk Hazard. When Caesar's goons doubted him, Usopp told them exactly why he's got so much faith in him. It might be wishful thinking, but I'm hoping Usopp will understand that Kyros is like Luffy for the dwarves, and that's what will get him to stand up and fight.
So yeah. A pretty normally good chapter.
