Isn't it interesting that Blackbeard's original last name was 'Everything'?
I mean Teach was introduced as a villain back in Alabaster
Drum actually. And one of the early BB designs appeared on a color page long before that.

Sometimes I feel like you know things.
I honestly don't know why anyone would prefer Blandy Mc-Magmafist as the final villain over a well-constructed/thought-out BB. I mean, he screams final villain material considering how he is being built up as one of the most (if not THE MOST) powerful entity in OP due to having 2 devil fruits that happen to be the black hole and earthquake fruit (two of which are fairly powerful to begin with). Not to mention being a more symbolically APPROPIATE villain than a bland…revenge villain like Akainu (remember how revenge worked well in Rurouni Kenshin, Naruto, and all that blandy mcbland comics?)
BB is the well developed, thematically planned villain whereas Akainu is the lazy man's villain.
I repeat: evil, mirror version of Luffy, who espouses an evil, mirror version of what Luffy's really after, and is named after the most famous pirate of all time, is so thematically appropriate to this series that there should be no question as to what his final role in the series is: the grand climax.

And is Oda favorite and most interesting character…
^^
NOOO! Magma-Mcfistyfist for the final boss ftw! He killed Luffy's brother. Luffy has always been emotionally invested in everything. Being driven by things like…dark feelings and revenge and grief and grudges. Yeah, he's always been driven by those. So clearly Akainu must be the final villain because REVENGE stories are awesome and thematically appropiate for the protagonist in OP.
spoiler:
! Akainu gets arrested by the new regime and his last scene in the series is him getting convicted of crimes against humanity
Why do the old members still continue to discuss this stuff since everyone is gonna their position anyway?

Wait what? I could have sworn I've heard this before… Where was this stated?
One thing people need to notice is that doflamingo can control movements of people but not activate their abilities. E.g. people think if DD controls luffy it's going to be hard for the crew because they are going to get smashed. He can only use basic moves when controlling people. DD can't activate gear 3rd with armament haki on luffy. But if someone is big with weapons like Atomos in marineford then they can cause a bit of damage. DD made Atomos attack his own division. Remember this, the normal men aren't as strong and can get beaten easily. Even though we know sanji is defeated, DD can't activate diable jambe and attack people at full strength. He can only make people attack others basically. So all you would need is Robin to restrain him. The only problem is fighting an own crew member without hurting them.
I also think robin is a key to harming or landing hits on DD cause her DF is very good as she could sprout hands on DD.
I think it'd be funny if Blackbeard barged in on the arc, took the Mera Mera, and left.
It was implied that there was more than one. (more than implied, actually)
True the SHs searched several auction houses for Keimi before finding out Peterman took to the one ran by Disco. So there is more than one Auction House, and even if Disco is out of business, we can assume that the slave auctions still go on since the CDs are still in power and there are still buyers (not just CDs) for slaves
So I made a little diagram.
On the left is the Redline, with the Eve Tree and Mariejois and Fishman Island. On the right is Marineford.
This is really a best-case-scenario of how close Marineford is to the Redline. Shabondy is definitely farther away than this. I hope that this helps people to see more accurately just how far away these locations are from each other. And just how small a vertical distance of 10km is.
The other rookies with higher bounties have (1) sent 100 pirate hearts to the marines, (2) cut off other pirates legs, or (3) been known to terrorize innocent towns. Shakky has confirmed bounties will rise if you're cruel and gruesome. Apoo is the only outlier here.
It's impressive dainty Cavendish has managed to get his bounty this high.
What did you mean by the underlined?
@CCC:
Errrr…. no.
Robin's main weakness is that any damage done to sprouted parts is also done to the actual body part. And she has no healing ability.If someone sliced a Hana Hana arm in two, her real arm would receive the same effect.
Huh..
So in Alabasta when she was protecting that door, (if this was filler my mistake and just ignore this), thru like many arms growing from the door she was making it that much easier to get into the door?
Meaning if some1 had just stabbed any 1 of those arms, (or even got a good concentrated strike on any of the arms), odds are she'd just release/ stop all of the arms from the pain?…
So she held all those people at bay with ...
bluffs?...
Chopper hasn't use that ability since Sky Island.
hmmnn…
Did he try to use it against Kumadori at all?
That's an odd ability to completely erase as Chopper supposedly gets better although guess 1 could say he has had any main opponents he needed using it against, and or, too many of his more recent opponents were too fast to utilize that ability, but eh…
@indigo~ink:
^ Could Law theoretically cut Doffy's "strings" with his own DF?
Shouldn't shambles automatically cut off almost any + all ties to his body at that time of "switching"?
Wait what? I could have sworn I've heard this before… Where was this stated?

Whaa is this for real? I thought Saobody was 10km away from the Red Line laterally, and FI was 10km i.e. the same distance underneath the Red Line?

Honestly, it depends on what the radius of the planet is. What I've drawn is something similar to the Earth.
Is there a page/chapter that specifically says how far away the archipelago is from the Redline? Because 10km of horizontal distance is like almost nothing. You could walk that in a day. Like several times.

I'm not sure, but I think people were saying earlier it was about 10-15km (not sure where it came from though, perhaps judged from travel times by ship in the manga?). For some reason I have always assumed the OP world has a smaller diameter than the Earth, this could also explain why the line of sight is short.

I don't think that there is any actual canon reference to how far away the two places are from one another.
I'm more inclined to believe that the OP planet is the same size as the Earth. It doesn't take more than a few months to circumnavigate the Earth (on a sailboat), and it seems to me that travel times in the OP world are comparable.
So I made a little diagram.

Except that this distance "line of sight" you drew here is exactly 386km long, if the OP planet is the same size as earth.
If you can't see Red Line from Marineford, it has to be further away than 386km. Think about it. That's not the case.
@LUFFYSMC:
What did you mean by the underlined?
I meant Law, Kid, and Hawkins have all done some gruesome stuff. Apoo was the only one we don't really know the details of.

I've thought about it. Why can't this be the case?
Edit: Did a few quick calculations. The distance to the horizon from the top of the Redline, assuming the cliffs really are 10km above sea level and that the planet's radius really is 6378.1 km, can be found like so:
((6378.1km+10km)^2-6378.1km^2)^(1/2) = 357.3km
If you want to be more precise, we can calculate the horizontal distance along the sea surface:
6378.1km*arctan(357.3km/6378.1km) = 356.9km
We have no idea how tall Marineford is, so there's really no way to say just how far the horizon is from its peak. Let's guess, though, that it can't be taller than the empire state building, 443.2m.
6378.1km*arctan(((6378.1km+0.4432km)^2-6378.1km^2)^(1/2)/6378.1km) = 75.2km
Combining these estimates, the horizontal distance from Marineford to the Redline would be about 432.1km.
A fast sailboat can travel about 70km/h faster than whatever sea current it is riding. If the sea current itself is already quite fast, say 10km/h, then this distance can easily be covered in under five and a half hours.
So, what's the problem? Humor me.
I've thought about it. Why can't this be the case?
Because we know that the time to travel from Impel Down to Marineford is approximately 2 hours (helped by the current, but still), and we have a map like this:
I guess it can still be further away if we want to think that the scale here is off. But they did mention the Marine HQ is close to Mariejois for a reason, and being further than 380km means that it'd be a 2-3 day trip from one place to the other. But they travelled down to FI, which IS directly under Marijois in the Red Line in definitely less than a day, which is a 10km distance downwards as well as the distance from Shabondy to FI, which is the same as Shabondy to Mariejois and therefore Red Line.
Thus it can't be more than a hundred kilometres AT BEST and I'm sure it's less than that. Which means, adding 2 hours of time toward Impel Down and probably Enies Lobby as well, that the Red Line should be visible from all these locations.

I don't think you understand just how fast a sailboat can go. Check the edit to my post above.
Also, if the Redline should be visible from all three… then why didn't we ever see it?
@indigo~ink:
Hmmmmm why would Oda introduce a new character at this point and try to build him up into something worthy of the final battle, when he has already developed an antagonistic character over the past decade or so? Said antagonist has done many things to get him offside with the main protagonist, including being responsible for the capture and resulting death of his only [known to be alive] brother. He also stands directly in the way of the protagonist's dream (also wants to become Pirate King) which is the entire reason Luffy is on his journey i.e. the reason the story exists at all.
I mean Teach was introduced as a villain back in Alabaster with Ace saying he was chasing him down… and think back to the pie vs drink thing in Jaya, Luffy and Teach clashed from the start. It's just too great and also Oda-like to have such important things foreshadowed and planned out way, way ahead of time. It would also be much more rewarding to the readers for this to be the most momentous battle as we have followed the development of Blackbeard as an antagonistic character for so many years already.
Well, Akainu just doesn't seem like a final villain either. Sure he will be a formidable foe, I'm not arguing that. But when you think about the "underlying themes", the final battle being about revenge instead of his dream just doesn't seem like Luffy at all.
What do you mean at this point? The story is over half way done and there's probably a decade left of storytelling left to do. There's more than enough time for Oda to do this, it is as if some of you have only read/seen stories where the main antagonist is shown off in the beginning of a story. Akainu could very well find a way to kill most pirates or end the pirate era, ending dreams of not just Luffy, but every pirate out there. At the end, it would still be a clash between dreams. I also find it amusing some of you are acting like Akainu is going to sit on his ass with a sign that says, "I'm just waiting for you Luffy. I will not do anything else at all that may piss you off or endanger others despite getting even more power/control than when I had two years ago when I killed your brother right in front of you. No. I will just sit in my chair and wait. xoxo" The end is largely going to depend which character, Blackbeard, Akainu or someone else will turn the world upside down the most in Luffy's eyes.
More rewarding considering how little we know? We don't know what Teach or Akainu will be doing by the time Luffy defeats one or two Emperors. We don't know how it will effect the world or one another, and what their motives are nor how gray each one is from either perspective. Nor how they attempt to achieve their goal. It isn't as if I don't know.. we find out more about Akainu, he might turn out to be more than a 1-dimensional character? I'm not even trying to push Akainu as some final villain as he may or may not become, just explaining that based on how little we know about the end game, it really isn't as clear cut.
I think you are missing my point. I don't care too much who the final villain is as long as it's written well. Blackbeard is the anti-Luffy and this was determined right after they met one another. My point is that him and only him being the final villain isn't set in stone despite being mirror opposites of each other and have a similar D background. Monkey King's theory is better thought out than mine regarding what will happen at the end, and likelier to happen also. I personally try not to think too much about the ending and just enjoy it like most story. I'm just here for the ride. The absolute statements when we need to know so much more however, the general attitude towards this is just silly.
I don't think you understand just how fast a sailboat can go. Check the edit to my post above.

Because (ignoring the numbers) Oda does not want to imply that they are that close.
Because (ignoring the numbers) Oda does not want to imply that they are that close.
But, if you don't ignore the numbers, then there really is no reason to suspect that they are that close anyway.

I'm saying we didn't see it coz Oda messed up. But it's possible that its not 10km high as I've just tried finding the source but that was apparently never explicitly stated, at Least not from what I saw. So my point is mute :P
@Monkey:
If a restauraunt says "BURGERS AND FRIES" would you assume it was the only place that sold Burgers and Fries…in the world??
Plus no, we saw a completely different shop while they were searching for where Camie was brought. And there were clearly humans in there.
I guess I was wrong. I didn't remember that part w/ Camie.
