Absolutely fantastic chapter. Looks like things are getting ready to come to a head.
We also know how the tourney will end now, what, with an army of dwarves storming the colosseum. Now I wonder if D block will even get to finish their fight.

I don't believe there is actually a "Pirate Summit," Monkey Lover. Respectfully. I love monkeys, too.
Also Bastille is Sabo :ninja:
This Arc has so much going on and it oozes creativity. I love the Toys, Dwarves and reference to Noland. And of course, Doflamingo. Love it.
Don Chinjao really hates the past. Still wondering what Garp did to him in the past.
This episode is funny and sad at the same time (people being turned into toys and forgotten. that's sad).
overall, good chapter :)
Someone transforms people in toys through a DF. Now it's highly possible that the toy who's helping Franky is someone important from the Dressrosa of ten years ago, maybe the former king himself!
Their loved ones lose any memory of them and/or their memories are altered. Don Chinjao seems to be suffering from some sort of amnesia as well, (EDIT: this is actually false, sorry for the mistake, I blame Mangapanda…) might the two things be linked together? He says it's Garp's fault, but what if his memory was altered by the same guy as well?
Also Bastille is Sabo :ninja:
No, Sabo is the King of Tontatta …

Crush his treasure… family jewel ... kintama?
I wonder who the Soldier toy was in the past. We've seen him use sky walk so I guess he must have been a fairly strong individual. Maybe the reason he's chased by the Dressrosa police is because they think he has the human disease?
Awesome chapter. From my POV the best chapter since 2 months. It had everthing. So much info. The Pirate summit was mentioned by Chinjao. Seems there will be a lot of Coc Users there.

The toys have their memory back after time, or they don't have their memory erased and have to live with humans under the threat of Doflamingo ?
For me, Law try do flee of green bit, this is why he try to call Nami, because what can they do against Fuji or Doflamingo ? Except if Law hide a secret weapon on the boat (kairouseki ?).
And for the "Law has is ass kicked by a Amiral but want to take down Kaido" :
1. He has a strategy against Kaido, not against Fuji (yet ?)
2. How many times, Luffy got nearly killed and still beat the boss ? Crocodile ? Lucci ? Ceasar ? And Law have to do a perfect journey until Kaido …
I don't say, Law going to beat Fuji and Doflamingo, he's surely going to run away or be capture, that's not mean he can't beat Kaido with the help of the SH.

Don't have to be so gay about it, could just say there wasn't any Pirate Summit mentioned in the manga…
The toys showed are way too inoffensive, there's for sure another meaning behind DD intentions than create an army.
Too weak thinking for the puppetmaster's king.
The truth came after midnight for sure…
So Maynard is a rookie VA… Explains a lot.
Sanji wants to speak with Luffy... Maybe he will eb able to somehow sneak into the tournament
And just for me... Are they 2 factories now? One SAD one where Franky is going and one for the toys where Sanji is heading... Right?

Sanji might end up using Sky Walk and not there's only one Factory (Colisseum) and is linked by underground tunnels with Green Bit and probably the flower field like I said in the spoiler thread
I got a feeling Chinjau is going to be a powerful ally for Luffy who will help overthrow Doflamingo and the Marines.

Maybe they are just soldiers of Dressrosa's original army that Doflamingo decided to turn into slaves that couldn't fight back? Back in Skypeia Enel also felt like keeping around the former God's army to build Maxim instead of outright killing them.

I am not so sure, or was it stated somewhere that ace did mean something else. Chinjao said there are many people with kings haki in the NW. He says everthing will be decided further ahead in the NW. Was it ever made clear by Oda that he didnt mean an actual summit but in a larger sense to reach the top? We know for sure that there is the reverie
! http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/Reveriewhich is kind of a kings summit. Was there ever any SBS mentioning of that?
I commend you for loving monkeys. They are just the best!!!

The "Pirate Summit" refers to them meeting at the top. It's not a literal place.
The Viz translation is something along the lines of ""Next time we meet…. will be on the high seas."
I think the pirate summit is less of a place and more of a metaphor for the most deadly pirates. The ones at the "top" so to speak. I think the closest thing to an actual place would be the New Workd itself.
Edit: yeah, what Galaxy said
the tournament might get interrupted halfway. at least let cabbage fight first oda! i really wish he has white horse zoan fruit and turned into a horseman in the tournament. many of his fans will leave him after that.

Care to explain? Since for some of us One Piece is only recreational fun and not the center of our friggin lives. In chapter 159 Ace mentions the pirates` summit. I asked if there was any SBS clearance about the meaning of that phrase. Summit can be a meeting or it can mean to reach the top in a larger sense. So what is it?
I understand if you dont have an answer . Its obvious that you are not too much into One Piece and desperately try to be funny and putting everybody in there place at the bottom of the monkey kings iron throne ;)

Alright, thanks for the clarification. Since CCC used the word summit in his trans i thought it was the legit term. Thats why i made that connection.

It's just that it's so old a mistranslation that it's not even funny anymore. And recreational fun or not, while reading those shitty translation one should really really double check them.
The chapter was good, showing everyone again save Nami & Co. Now waiting another two weeks for the next chapter T_T
Man, that was a great chapter.
The toys are actually humans who have been forgotten by their loved ones?! Oda, you're pulling at my heart strings again.
Poor Chinjao. He must have really went through hell in his encounter with Garp. There definitely is something more to this. I sense a flashback coming soon (hopefully not a very long one).
Law's barely surviving against Fujitora's onslaught. Buying time might just cost him his life at this rate.
Question.
http://www.batoto.net/read/_/154527/one-piece_ch697_by_mangarule/18
I was looking at the wiki and it said Doflamingo joined 10 years ago and sited this page. Question is the page doesn't have to mean he joined 10 years ago right? It can just mean it's when he started his plans (whose beginnings as indicated in this chapter seem to involve turning te people into toys)?
i think it means when he became a shichibukai ( i think there are other sources as well, dont quote me tho) as his plans started before that if you consider vergo joined the marines 15 years ago.
So this was the last chapter before the break?
Pirate Summit eh. That's some necromancy right there.
Is there a reason why panda doesn't translate "Jiichan"?
I mean, there are phrases specific to cultural references, but gramps ain't one of them.

Ow, man, ow. This is the guy with the most knowledge of OP on the forums who has no direct association with either Japan or the Japanese language. He's just tired of going through the same things that he thinks should be clear to most people with reading comprehension skills and a discerning mind over and over again. Zeph's been here since, what, 05? He gets to say these things, even if it comes across as asinine at times.
Yes, it's a metaphor and it means a figurative top. Not a physical one in any sense. Ace wanted to meet up with Luffy again when they were both at the point where they could contest the Pirate King's title; Luffy for himself, Ace for Whitebeard (even though the man did not want it). Oda and some scanlators made this a bit vague because they, for whatever reason, named the war the Pirates' Summit, probably to contrast this promise and the fact that Ace and Whitebeard met their ends there.
What you don't know, however, is that at the time there was a huge group of angry people spouting nonsensical theories about where the summit would be held, what kind of a physical location could such summit be, and what would happen there, despite there being no evidence of anything of the sort even being subtly hinted at at any point in the story. And it was almost so bad that people who wanted to have sensible conversations about the figurative summit - not that there was really any need for that since it should have been very clear from the beginning - could not do that because they were constantly interrupted by those insisting that it was an actual location. Believe me, it took a lot of time and effort to get the message through to the majority of those people, and the ones who were involved don't really want to spend any further energy into explaining it again. Not very fair to you guys who are just asking, no, but what can you do.
Forgetten people:
Jesus Burgess and Zoro.
Don't planify arc's theories without including them in.
By the way, no interraction with Jesus and others gladiators.
Not a single scene where he gives bread to people or transforms water in wine. Nothing.
am not impressed with this chapter..
some good stuff were revealed but a lot of pages wasted of poor dialog and unnecessary things..

Thanks for taking the time and clarifying. I am a big fan and try to check things before i post something here. I just did so, because CCC used the word summit and batoto had ace using the same word. Now i know. I really i appreciate if people with a large knowledge share their thoughts here. AP is the best forum on OP that i know. The answer was a little rude but its not a problem. Looking forward to the day when the MK posts a wrong OP fact
Starting to think that the curfew has something to do with "treating" the amnesia.
The devil fruit can't turn people into toys AND change other people memories.
So the amnesia is either the work of another devil fruit user, which I doubt, or a treatment with some chemical that Dofla himself could produce in his chemical factory, that is given during the curfew.
Dofla has definitley done some sort of Brainwashing of most the population since they seem to worship him and have forgotten about the vicious things he did when he rose to power. It was either done by a DF user in the Donquixote Family (like the toy thing) or he might have used some chemical developed by CC to erase and possibly even insert memories into peoples minds (Doflamingo might be the real cause of Don C.s amnesia, but he somehow brainwashed him into blaming garp to pit him against luffy)
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Law should have knowledge about all this since he was close to doflamingo and might even have been with him when he took over Dressrosa and all this went down.
doflamingo is a fuckin idiot.
why would you lure luffy in the place where there's the factory he wants to destroy?
Fujitora : Beat both of them .
Doffy : Just only beat Law, ignore Fuji
Law : dodge dodge …all of a sweat=))
LOL @ ppl who said Humans =/= Toys, they're are eating their words as we speak :P

It's easier for him to be wrong than be a donkey ;)
By the way, in the Italian translation of OnePiece, made by a native Japanese guy, YUPA, Ace says something like "we'll meet when we'll be between the best pirates" that clearly means "at the top"…still this "summit" seen as "gathering" or "top" is surely problematic.
It's the progression of the story that makes us understand there couldn't be a summit/gathering since Shanks/Whitebeard meeting is a big event, Shanks against Kaidou is something the Marine itself would prevent, so it's clearly impossible to gather the best pirates into a sort of Pirateish Reverie.
Not a bad chapter but this whole "forgetting people existed when they turn into toys" thing seems a bit weird.
I love the dwarves, love how a teacup is a table in the house. Another princess to rescue, that's getting really old, hopefully there is some kind of twist to it. Kinda figured there was more to the toys thing with Rebecca's and the tin soldier's reaction and all. Hey, Law's struggling, I wonder if he'll lose? Also, now I'm really curious about Don Chinjao's past.
I feel like the real question of this chapter is whats hapening to the fighters who have been defeated. The marines are waiting for them outside but no one has come out I feel there must be something sinister going on beneath the colliseum which is in store for the strawhats later in the arc. DD must have something planed, he wouldnt send luffy to the spot of the action unless he had a plan to counter it. What do you all think might be happening to the defeated fighters? Maybe the devil fruit user feeds on the energy of those which he/she turns into toys? what are your thoughts?
The mini-arc which i doesn't pay attention (to me) is the Tontatta…
I don't know, it was well introduced, good chara-design, new species, reference to Gulliver etc.
But the dialogue and jokes are pretty much anticipated with Ussop, interraction is limited to "yes i'm the great ussoland" (ps: corrected) and "hoooo" response, the scenario too, Robin in mute mode, characters/dwarfs way too generic, not really a single one stand out from the mass in term of personnality.
They're all pretty similar to Leo...
The whole kingdom is touching by their innocence but not exciting.

Thank you very much, I really needed a new wallpaper!

Zoro… Where is Zoro? It's been ages since we last saw him.
Zoro is soo lost that he's just arrived back in East Blue and having a drick at Patty's Bar.

what the hell did garp do to him? or is he just crybaby?
That panel reminded me of Broggy crying when he thought Dorry was dead

Did you read it somewhere else different than us? If you did read it at mangapanda….
Of course its poor dialog! It manga-frekin-panda doing the translations!
And unnecessary things? …are you one of those that just want to see fight - fight - fight with no background to a plot?

maybe the fighters are being used to create the smileys some how
The devil fruit can't turn people into toys AND change other people memories.
The two things (erasing memories and becoming toys) might be due to several factors coming together, but it might also be due to a single ability user. The setting seems a lot like fairy tales where magic ends at midnight and people would return to a reality forgetting about the other reality they came from. So if the devil fruit wasn't specifically "turn people to toys" but "fairy godmother turning mice to horses and people to nut crackers" it might indeed be the root of everything, including the rules that DD forced upon the country.
Good chapter, but please don't let the next 5 volumes be everyone running around a factory fighting Doflamingo thugs, the dwarf and Dressrosa culture swept to the wayside oh god no
Fingers crossed that theres two seperate factories: The one Violet told Sanji of thats below a toy house, and the factory below the Coliseum
This whole situation is sad when you think about it. I feel really bad for these toys(people). Doflamingo deserves everything that will befall him.
