Yeah, it's terrifying. This image slideshow gets the message across. And Russian authorities have said they'll arrest even foreigners who go to Russia and are gay.

What with that and Greek Police rounding gay/trans/foreign/undesirables up off the streets, it's scary times in Eastern Europe.

Though even London has recently had official vans driving around the city with 'GO HOME' on the side to intimidate any potential illegal immigrants. None of this sits well with me at all.

They're stopping anyone who isn't white, and then getting angry when people speak of 'racial profiling'. I've actually heard they're doing checks in my area at the moment - and I live in a very Asian & Islamic part of the city (though I'm a white agnostic myself). The whole thing is ugly, even if it's probably designed to play up to racist voters.

There were indeed lots of police and immigrations officials hanging around. I documented this, and now the news want to re-use my photos. I'm probably being added to some police watchlist as I type this. Bit scary, to be honest.

I think there's a noticeable difference between appealing to conservatives in the case of marriages, and issuing a ban that prohibits any kind of discussion of homosexuality in public, because it somehow protects children from pedophilia (exageration I know but the wording I heard is so vague it might as well say that).

We got a prescription for Generic (which is cheaper here than what I normally use, Yasmin) from Planned Parenthood (30 dollars the visit) and when we went to pick it up, they wanted 74 dollars for just 1 box. For just one fucking month. So we were like FUCK DAT SHIT and started searching for alternatives because next Summer, I am moving in the USA. I was aware of the implant already, but taboo's post brought it out more for me and so I studied more about it, talked with Zeph and decided to go for it since it lasts for 3 years.

In Cyprus you do have to pay for the pill 10 euro per month, BUT… you can get it with no prescription at the pharmacy, so that negates the expense for doctor's visit (which usually is 50 euro).

USA needs to gets its shit together and start offering cheap alternatives to women for birth control. This is fucking ridiculous. HOW the fuck do you expect to get abortions and unwanted pregnancies in teenage girls under control if you don't offer them alternative means of protection. I mean, for me getting pregnant, considering my age and that I have a job and an enormous family, as well as a secure relationship, wouldn't be the end of my future. But a 15-17 year old girl that still hasn't the means to properly fend for herself out there? Meh.

Well, if I do the math, I'll be 27 when I need to get it off me so it'll be a good timing for baby making ya know? So period all the time might not have the time to happen to me :X Also, if you want to bitch-slap your period around and regulate it, Evening Primrose Oil capsules help quite a lot. They worked miracles with fixing my period every time I got off Yasmin (which 90% of the time did fuck my period up).

74 dollars a month is insane, who even has that kind of money? Especially, like you say, young girls? Combined with the current abortion laws there, that's just… inhumane.
10 euros a month is more manageable I suppose, but still not ideal. And getting the pill without a prescription (and doctor's advice) seems a bit questionable to me. Okay, not if you've been taking the same one for a long time, but still. This isn't just some pain killer.

As for an implant, I've been afraid to use that because back in high school during Sex Ed, we saw an article about a woman who got an implant, and three years later she wanted to have it taken out so she could get pregnant, but the thing had gotten lost in her body and so she couldn't :< even with MRI scans and stuff they couldn't find it. But my teacher then said that was a very very rare case and what happened to her was actually kind of impossible. I don't want to scare you or anything, the story just stuck to me :p

Yeah that's exactly where i went. apparently Georgia (or that particular PP) doesn't get funding from such and such or whatever. They don't even do payment plans, and they didn't seem to know anything about medicaid when i asked. I do have insurance through my parents, though i was kind of hoping to avoid asking… I might try and see if i can get it cheaper through SCAD's healthcare thingy first.

I only got my pills without prescription in Cyprus because that's the ones my doctor gave me. He was away in the USA when I needed to take them so I went and asked for them and they happily gave me a box. Which is the max they will give you at a time without a prescription. I was surprised myself really.

I know about that story. Found it while I was researching. But, I got the new version of the implant (Nexplanon) which actually can be located with X-Rays quite easily. I guess that accident taught them better lol

Yeah, we don't want babies yet either. Not while Zeph is still studying. They are vitamins really. They help out with lots of stuff apart from the period getting regulated in a fixed schedule.

Actually the American media and internet seems to be producing more and more people with compassion fatigue - what was normally only a trait limited to people being exposed to horrific events constantly. But it seems to becoming more and more common it seems.

Tell me about it. My former job required me to scope out many different articles on the Internet each day and summarize them according to the client's needs. What I've seen in my 3 years of working on that account has been nothing but a constant barrage of negativity brought upon by commentators and bloggers who believe that "The Whole World" sucks attitude is good enough to get attention. Because if the news is good, it doesn't get views. I know that bad news gets bigger attention than good news but c'mon! That does not mean that good things are not relevant!

Needless to say, I finally quit that job and I am now looking for work that I can feel more content with.

In other news, the new goverment is steamrolling through the administration of state companies. Just recently they replaced the head of the National Railway. Now they removed the director of the Nationa Theater, however massive protests by actors and the people alike forced the goverment to back peddle on the idea.

And today the head of the opposition party has flat out started to support the new goverment, saying their party is in agreement over their goverment programe.

Which I totally didn't foresee or anything.

So let's just get used to this leftist goverment is going to continue doing major changes as the chance of it passing have slightly increased. The opposition don't realy have enough votes to help the Goverment pass, and I hope it stays this way though.

Scotland was already gearing up to go for it, I'm thinking their view of themselves as the most progressive portion of the UK might be feeling slightly bruised right now so I have no doubt as soon as they can they'll pass it.

Other GM news here in the US, lots and lots of people are launching lawsuits in lots of lots of states, using the new Supreme Court ruling as a basis for attacking the anti-gay marriage laws in their states.

NORTHEAST: We're so close to done with only two more states to go. One of whom is a bro we know as capable of doing the right thing, and indeed was going to do the right thing until Chris Christie vetoed it. Many efforts are going on there right now to complete thing, a state judge is apparently in the position right now to make big things happened.

I don't think it was even mentioned but England and Wales now have gay marriage.
Scotland was already gearing up to go for it, I'm thinking their view of themselves as the most progressive portion of the UK might be feeling slightly bruised right now so I have no doubt as soon as they can they'll pass it.
Northern Ireland is apparently UK's Alabama though so apparently that's not even on the radar there.

Haha, I watched part of the Lords debate on this when the bill was being passed … I saw this one old guy begin his lengthy, well reasoned, level headed, fairly tolerant argument against. And the whole time he was talking, there was this other old guy sitting just in the corner of the shot, just shaking his head emphatically and occasionally saying something into the ear of the person next to him. It was too funny. I couldn't keep watching.

But yeah when you're behind a country where the upper house is dominated by elderly white people and the government is dominated by the socially conservative side of the country, you know you can;t be doing that great ...

Good luck to those states getting this passed. It's past time, I reckon . . .
