On the contrary i think in a story which is taking place in and around the sea(call lands:happy:),it is the most logical drawback for a power like Devil's Fruit…
It isn't about the drawback but the number of people of the sea with it. With tye number of them we saw it's reslly silly for Shanks to tell Luffy he might not be able to become a pirate.

Are you talking about this?

@Monkey:
Haki is The Force of One Piece. I don't think you're really thinking about it right if you aren't seeing it like that.
There's nothing strange about there being more of it in the more dangerous sea at all.
I just mean that I don't want Haki to steal the spotlight from Devil Fruits and other powers. Half the awe and respect that Logia users get is from their being untouchable by regular people. Haki negates that awing factor, which is fine for the main characters and villains, but I really hope third tier throwaway characters don't all start coming equipped with Haki (I'm looking at you, Boo of the Happou Navy).
Anyway, it would just seem strange to me (and a bit of a plot hole by Oda) if it turns out everyone in the New World uses Haki, yet no one in the first half of the grand line has even heard of it.

he was just teasing a kid…you can't take that seriously..

in the first months of mine getting used to the whole idea of Haki (~between sabaody and FI) i thought like that strongly too, but now i have some more trust in Oda that he will "balance" it properly. i think that the main thing to remember that even if you are aware of Haki and can use it (any of the 3) it doesn't mean that you will win just because you have it, you need to have the skill, technique, power and whit to be victorious . i think that Ultimately Haki is similar to the DFs themselves that if you have one doesn't equal to your automatic victory. Personally, i think DF > Haki most of the times because DF are random and you don't know what to expect while with Haki it is less unexpected (though Oda is magical with these concepts so who knows).
Additionally, don't you remember that outside the Grand Line has barely heard of DFs to begin with?
Yes, I know it sounds supid so don't throw anything at me. This is an old disappointment dating back to the dinosuars (2008). I used to be disappointed that Oda brought in the Red Line so early. I mean they just entered the Grand Line went through nine islands and then bang! They arrived at the Red Line already? Then again Oda is a one unpredicatible beast.
Oh the heck? I already post a similar thing back in 2011.
I love One Piece but I have a few:
-Yasopp. I've always found it incredibly dickish that he left his very sick wife, even if she encouraged him, and their young son to live his dream. I'd be ok with it if it was portrayed negatively but Usopp actually respects his dad.
Ok, I'm getting ahead of myself and thankfully it looks like it won't happen. But if someone other than Law (ESPECIALLY Luffy) is the one to take out Doflamingo then I'll be P.Oed.

Totally support you on this.
It would have been cool if Yasopp had given Usopp a vivre card , but I guess it's one of those things that Oda didn't think about when he started the series.

I don't know who exactly you are expecting Luffy to brawl with in this arc, but I'd say you ought to prepare to get mad.
The next big fight (Kaido) is almost guaranteed to be a team effort, so I'd say we need one real showing of Luffy's power (which we've yet to get) before that.
I guess it's a given that Luffy will get pissed off to the point of wanting to personally beat down Doflamingo, assuming that Doflamingo attempts to dispose of Bellamy despite the later's loyalty and admiration towards him.
Not only that, but Law basically got to fight the big bad of the last arc (Vergo was most likely stronger than Caesar). Unless we're to expect Luffy to duke it out with Fujitora (which is silly), Law vs. Doflamingo would mean Law would be stealing the boss for the second time in a row. It ain't happenin, folks.

Except for arcs where the crew loses or the adventure continues into the next arc, Luffy's always beaten the main villain. Enies Lobby was the only exception, and that was because Spandam was a non-action big bad, and he fought Luuci instead, who was the next biggest bad there and the strongest opponent.
Caesar and Vergo shared the role of main villain in Punk Hazard. So, Luffy still got to be involved in the main villain's defeat there. One Piece is going to go on for a very long time. So, would it be so bad to let someone other than Luffy take out the Big Bad just one time? Law is the one with history and a grudge with Doflamingo. It makes more sense for them to fight.
The only other reason for Luffy to fight Doflamingo is because he took the Mera-Mera no Mi. But, Dofla gave it to Diamante. Thus, Luffy's issue get's transferred to him. And Diamante is the one who told Bellamy to assassinate Luffy. So, again Diamante will be Luffy's target. Oda's been building up to a Luffy vs Diamante fight. The whole Collessium would be pointless if Luffy just completely ignores it's boss.
@Monkey:
So, again Diamante will be Luffy's target. Oda's been building up to a Luffy vs Diamante fight.
No, he really hasn't. Luffy hasn't even exchanged as much as two words with the guy, whereas the foreshadowing of a Luffy vs. Doflamingo fight is well-rooted. Rebecca certainly isn't going to plead "Please, Luffy, beat Diamante!!" It's been over one hundred chapters now since the time skip and we've yet to see ANY of the Strawhats go all out, let alone Luffy. Is it really a good idea to first show Luffy's chops the second he deals with Kaido, a Yonkou? I really don't think so. Doflamingo is a perfect example of a strong person Luffy can brawl with in order to show his (Luffy's) progress. If Luffy honestly has trouble fighting Diamante, then I think we've got a pretty huge problem here.
Not to mention Law has pretty much done all the work throughout the lifetime of this alliance. It's time for Law to see just how valuable of a partner he picked.
The whole Collessium would be pointless if Luffy just completely ignores it's boss.
Yeah… no. It's going to get interrupted.

Diamante is Doflamingo's strongest subordinate (probably). It'd be bullcrap if Doflamingo is 10x stronger than him. Diamate is the hero of the Collessium. He's a strong and formidable opponent. He'll be a good opponent for Luffy to test his mettle with.
Finally, answer me this. What would be the point of Diamante being entrusted the Mera- Mera no Mi if Luffy wasn't going to fight him?

I'm not opposed to that in theory, but DD has been built up as a Big Bad since Jaya. If Law defeats DD on his own, while Luffy just handles the lame subordinate who was introduced a few chapters ago, I'll be disappointed. Unlike some, I haven't been bothered by Law's amount of screen time and abilities so far, but that would make me feel like he's taking over the series.

I doubt Diamante is the strongest guy working for Doflamingo. My money's on the Spade guy because we've seen so little of him compared to the other seats.
You're horribly mistaken if you think the arc is gonna play out with Luffy beating Diamante and Law beating Doflamingo. There is a lot more to this arc. The tournament will be interrupted and I imagine Luffy won't be able to retrieve the Mera Mera fruit until Don is taken down. The reason he gave Diamante is to distract Luffy. He knows the tournament is gonna last a long-ass time. Long enough for him to deal with Law on Green Bit.
what everyone else said
Doflamingo is clearly going to be Luffy's foe. There's a reason why Rebecca, the dwarves, Momotaro and Kyros have exhibited hate for Doflamingo; eventually Luffy is going to find out about how they've been wronged and he's going to wreak havoc. This couldn't have been hinted at more clearly than when we saw Bellamy a couple chapters ago. Luffy is probably going to side with Bellamy and find out about Doflamingo's scheme. He definitely won't say "Damn you Doflamingo!!!! I'll… I'll.. I'll take down your right hand man!!!" Luffy never deals with the henchman; he goes straight to the big boss and this is never going to change. This would be like Luffy responding to Arlong "I can beat you... except when Law is around, in which case I will take on Hachi."
The only thing I'll posit is that it is pretty unclear who Law will be fighting. It would be disappointing on Law's part just as much it would be for Luffy if he were to be really stressed by Diamante or any of the other card seats. Law needs to be capable of or near capable of taking down Doflamingo, just like Luffy. Keep in mind these guys are about to down Kaido; they can't be strained by the chumps. I was thinking that Law could distract Fujitora (and lose) while Luffy fights Doflamingo or maybe be defeated by Fujitora and Doflamingo (which is sort of lame). Not too fond of either of those choices though; maybe he could deal with CP0??? Or maybe maybe maybe both Law and Luffy could take down Doflamingo; I don't really like this because it deprives Luffy of his much-needed glory, we're going to see basically the same thing with the Kaido duel (alongside a few other supernovas), and I really don't think they need both Luffy AND Law going all out to take down Mingo.
Ok might as well post what I'm disappointed in, which is pretty obvious I think.
I'm disappointed in Sanji's character after the timeskip. I hope he does something really really stupid so that even Luffy will get fed up with him and they have a big fight, kinda similar to the Usopp and Luffy fight and he temporarily leaves the crew. Then he'll have to change and finally beat a woman. This is totally just what I would like the most, it probably won't happen xD
I just wish Sanji would suffer A LOT and then beat a woman. If he can do that, then I'll be fine with his character again.
Thats why I think in the future Oda will give Sanji "Kings haki" so Sanji will be able to knockout women with it since he won't fight em.
Luffy never deals with the henchman; he goes straight to the big boss and this is never going to change.
He does get to fight henchmen from time to time, like when he fought Blueno and Mohji.
@Señor:

…and?
It is really obvious that I was talking about the final fight.
If Luffy had just fought Blueno and Mohji and then not gone on to fight Lucci and Buggy your point would be worth bringing up.

it's zoro's fault for not having pirates king as his dream….
Diamanté will be another like Blueno to Luffy. Since Dofla will probably get into a fight with Fujitora and Law then later fight Luffy, Oda don't want people to think Luffy defeated Dofla cuz he was worn out that's why he giving Luffy a tough aswell(Chinjao, and probably Diamanté).

Yeah, you raise some good points. Looking back I did overreact. I'd be disappointed if Law didn't get to beat Dofla, but I wouldn't hate it. While I think the tournament will get interrupted these people's grudges with Luffy and their desire for the Mera-Mera no Mi won't just disappear. And Luffy while playing second-fiddle would look more impressive:
Law- Takes out the Boss
Luffy- Takes out the Boss' strongest subordinate, a man who had a 500 million beri bounty and once fought the strongest marine, a man who can make seeminly unbreakable barriers and/or a man with a violent hatred of him who easily blocked a headbutt that broke continents, and possibly a Yonko's lieutenant (maybe even more than that…).
Thus, if Law get's Dofla, it won't be bad for Luffy because he'll have done more. Thinking I could even imagine a way for both of them to fight him..
Law get's the big drawn out, both are fresh heading in fight against Dofla, and wins. Dofla flees. Luffy just beats Diamante at this time. Dofla steals the Mera-Mera no Mi and Luffy follows him. Then they have a fight (like the 2nd half of Luffy vs Zephyr round 3) and Luffy wins. That way both of them get to fight him and win. Everyone's happy!
You're point about Law is the main reason I want him to fight Dofla. There isn't really anyone else for him to fight except Fujitora, which is a lose-lose situation (if he wins he's too OP and if he loses he looks bad and his build-up is badly damaged). It would make sense for a Luffy vs Diamante fight so unlike Law if Luffy doesn't get Dofla he has someone else. Plus, Law is Luffy's rival, probably going to be his main one among fellow pirates. He needs a big name under his belt of defeated foes.
My final point is this: Dofla'l probably be busy, so when Bellamy refuses or fails, Diamante and/or members of his unit will take care of him. Thus, Luffy will wanna get back at him.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Ok moving on from the Doflamingo's opponent debate, I have two more disappointing thins about One Piece that I forgot to mention earlier:
For me it's gotta be how long the series is. Back in the day I was actually quite happy how the series was so long since I had more to read, but now that I've caught up-to-date and am waiting for one chapter a week, I'm beginning to feel more impatient. I've probably both read and watched the series around five times straight, and after every time I did so the enjoyment I got from reading or watching it inevitably fell. It also feels like not much is happening in one chapter, and more content per chapter would be nice.
It doesn't help that Oda takes a lot of breaks too, like just when something's about to go down it says "One Piece will be on break and back on next week's WSJ". What the hell, what a way to get our hopes up then disappoint us just like that. I was personally really disappointed how the Block C fight was being stalled so much, and with Oda adding all that crap about Usoland in between. I mean, I know it's an integral part to the plot and all, but I think it may have been better to completely finish off one part of the story (I.e. the gladiator fights) or at least sped it up a little.
Other than that I think everything else is good, plot-wise, and the introduction of new characters, as well as character development of both new and reoccuring roles. Waiting to see just what Doflamingo is up to

Oh yeah dude, I'm sure Oda intends to do nothing important with the dwarves at all. No sir.

Meh.. I want Law to beat Doflamingo, it is perfectly set up for him to do so. I know the likely answer is Luffy, but I'd rather not. I'd prefer than Luffy to take down Kaido, or better said he finishes him off though Law and Luffy fight him together. Like the other poster if Luffy beats Diamante, and finishes off Kaido I don't see why that would be too bad. However mangakas rarely if ever do this, see fucking Vegeta as the most wasted opportunity in anime history against Buu.
Every scenario with Law not beating Doflamingo will be very lame since it will mean he is likely to lose to him first only so Luffy can win afterwards. That is a pretty stupid thing to do when he is supposed to be somewhat of an equal of Luffy and show that he is a serious player in NW.
Luffy needs to fight Donquixote; the two are essentially mirror versions of each other

You're talking like Law is anywhere near important enough a character to receive this honor.
I know Zachri and her ilk obsess over him, but get this, your personal niche obsession character? That obsession doesn't mean a diddle in Oda's storytelling.

I'm talking about the obvious that when the Supernovas were introduced, Luffy, Law and Kid were the focal point. With the new generation going to overthrow the old, yes Law deserves his share of doing something meaningful in New World. Which is why I am also all for Kid taking out a Yonko, preferably Big Mom.
@Cyan:

They barely have any similarities…
In the really big arcs skypia, alabasta and enies lobby) the strawhats faced enemies who seemed overpowered through some special ability (df, mantra/haki, rokushiki), luffy always encountered the weakest (mr 5/3, the fat priest with the balls, blueno), defeated them and ancountered the strongest (crocodile, enel, lucci) so this time, the special ability will be haki and diamante is one of the weaker ones in doffys crew.
The only difference i see this time is that luffy and law will tagteam doffy.
diamante is one of the weaker ones in doffys crew.
He's one of the "seats" and he's the freaking champion of the colliseum. If he can still be relaxed after Jesus Burgess winned his block, there's no way he's one of the weaker ones.

perfect I messed up the quote
by mirror versions he didn't meant simiarities,
they are connected through opposites.
One wants to protect his crew the other one would easily sacrifice them
One want to have all the freedom in the world the other one all the power …
The only major similarity is their dream to be pirate king, their paths and methods
are comletely different.

You could essentially make a similar or total opposite comparison for many characters if you are going to clutch at such incredibly small straws. They're very different, and they aren't really polar opposites. That would only be Blackbeard and Luffy if we are comparing Luffy that way.
The only reason you want Law to take out Donquixote is because he's your favorite character, be honest with us

Seats are going to be the fights for the likes of Sanji, Zoro or maybe Franky
Seriously, it's time we see what Luffy can do. It wouldn't undermine Law if Luffy takes Dofla out. But if our beloved surgeon of death steals Luffy the show for a second time i would be totally pissed.

I find him as one of my favorites, but that's not the reason. And no, he's not my favorite character. It just seems to make more sense and seems far more interesting story wise for Law to take him out due to the history they have with one another, other than repeated plot 56 where one of Luffy's friends gets kidnapped/shares sad story and then he does it. Oda has made a wonderful world and I'd like to see other players have their share of the glory. That includes Kid and Law. It would also be interesting if someone else maybe even Dragon takes out an Admiral or Yonko for example, or a Yonko and Admiral fight and one of them wins. I don't want everything to be about Luffy doing it all as he is the focal point of just about every damn thing. Only a few series establish that early on and you accept it like Bleach for example which I am content with. I didn't get that feeling with One Piece however.

Law is nowhere near important enough to this story as a whole to take out someone as important as Donquixote

Yes he is. He and Kid were touted along with Luffy as the 3 main people to overthrow the current system. Not two of them putting their pom pom and skirts on, and cheer Luffy from the sidelines as he does everything.

Lol if you think Kidd and Law are going to be with Luffy near the end of the Grand Line and not taken out at some point earlier.
Law, at most, will be part of Luffy's army when the war breaks out. Nothing more, nothing less.

I don't know what will happen. I would however, like Kid to take down a Yonko and become one himself, and would love a fight between Luffy and he in the future. Regarding Law since they won't be enemies, he could end up being his strongest ally in the final war, there could be a Whitebeard-Roger relationship but I don't know if it will go that way. My point is that I do expect these two characters to make some serious waves in NewWorld, whether they make it to the end is another story entirely.

Uh yeah they are, in the same sense as Kidd, they're gonna be competition.
They are allied against Kaidou, not …forever for no reason.

I don't think they will. Luffy has made far worse enemies friends. They will be going for the same goal, but I don't think it will result in the two fighting one another and going all out.

So they're competing for the same thing, but won't end up competing.
THAT MAKES NO SENSE.

So hundreds and thousands of pirates that are competing for the pirate King title. You mean to tell me Luffy is going to beat every single one, hundreds of them.
THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE.
It's cute how you're trying to retort to Zeph's post but fail epicly in missing the whole point.
In long run Law can well be to Luffy what Whitebeard was to Roger….a worthy rival...in that sense i can well see Law close to the Raftel, but fails to make it...a duel between them is very much probable at that point..
