Wasn't Black Panther tenatively put out there for Marvel Phase 3?
Yeah, I think he, Dr. Strange, and Ant-Man were what Marvel has in mind as of now.

Yeah. Ant Man is going to kick things off in 2016 for Phase 3, and that will be followed by Blank Panther in 2017. Supposedly.
Am I the only one who is worried the cast might be getting too big? I mean, I want Ant Man, Wasp, and Black Panther, but add in all the new characters in phase 2, the inevitable deal that gets Spidey over, and the inevitable deal that gets a few X-Men over (because we all know Joss wants to write some Kitty Pryde again,) and the possible Dr. Strange, and you end up with one big fuster cluck of a cast.
I'm pretty confident that Avengers 3 will rival Return of the King in length.
@Nex:
the inevitable deal that gets Spidey over,
I just can't see that ever happening.
no va a suceder~

It's totally gonna happen. Sony would get a lot of money out of the deal.

Well, Sony doesn't see it that way.
triste~
It's not about them giving them the franchise back. It's about allowing them to use the character in the context of The Avengers. They could charge Marvel a licensing fee of practically whatever they want for even just a cameo. The fans really want it, and Marvel has been all about pleasing the fans lately.

You're correct. But, this is more of Sony's call then Marvel's. Will the businessmen involved place their egos aside to capitalize on this great opportunity?
espero que lo hacen~
Marvel must've been in some serious financial shit to sell of their flagship like that
Still amazing was great so i've got no problem with Sony hanging on to it for now

Not to be cynical but they will not do anything that isn't financially prudent and paying out the ass for a Spiderman cameo just to please the fanboys is not financially prudent.
I personally wouldn't really care for Spider-Man being in too much myself. A big appeal of Avengers for me was essentially taking superheroes who were generally not well known in the mind of the public and having now forever sealed them in the memories of of millions of people by being one of the best selling movies out there.

Marvel already sold the film rights away to Spider-Man even before the first Superman movie came out. Then the rights floated around a bunch of different studios for decades until they all ended up at Sony. And even in the mid '90s it was outrageous to think that a comic company, even one as big as Marvel at the time, would be making their own movies.
Don't FUCK with the 'stache.
Who is Harry Dinklage supposed to be in this movie? I feel like it should be obvious, but I have no idea.
Bolivar Trask, Sentinel builder.
Oh, well I guess that would of made sense with the jacket, HAHAHA! XD
We're really getting Sentinels. I'm hyped, and I know I shouldn't be hyped.
I'm hoping for more of a classic Sentinel design.
But my worse fear is this:
! If we get some kind of Michael Bay Transformers bulls#!t. I will flip a table.

[HIDE] Hmmm Transformer bull is bad… didn't marvel comics do a 'human sentinel' where they were took human bodies and converted them, akin to the Phlanex (however it cr@p is spelled.) and they would change from looking human to cyborg (but didn't have any humanity) ? I've been away from Marvel too long but something seems to be creeping around my head when I read that… [/HIDE]

! yes there is a humanoid sentinel that exists, I gotta look it up though. She showed up in the Facebook game that's how I know she exists…
Omega Sentinel.
Hot 16characters
Why oh why do I feel that movie would use that "cyborg" form, Omega Sentinel (thanks Kaiolino for the image) instead of the classic (and better in unique appearance) model?
Omega Sentinel >>>> boring purple robot
There's also Nimrod and Bastion for humanoid-looking sentinels.
Omega Sentinel >>>> boring purple robot
The problem is Omega Sentinel pretty much may as well just be another random mutant. The actual sentinel robots are something different. A different type of menace with certainly a different feeling and presence.
And the award for least creative design goes to Omega Sentinel

Omega Sentinel is a regular woman who is forced by machinery she never wanted inside of her to destroy a group of people. That's already way more interesting than durr giant pew pew robots.

As opposed to Kirby's phoned in scifi design?

No she isn't. Every stupid mutant has a backstory like that. You could pick anyone. And if you want another "human who was artificially enhanced" character (as if there aren't a million), go for someone actually interesting like Omega Red. Sentinels are different because they are actually just hulking automatons. No emotion, no anthropomorphism.
One thing you can always say about Kirby is that when you see a Kirby you know it
You've never seen a Kirby character and thought hey that looks just like whatever brand X draws

lollll Omega Red is awful '90s detritus. I'd expect that character to show up in some lame cartoon. Omega Sentinel is a good character because she was created and written by good writers, not hacks like Jim Lee.
Also every mutant has a backstory like that? No, I don't think so.
Let's all just agree that Galactus and Thanos are the bees knees, and the flies wings. And lets not forget the crickets elbow.
Well we can disagree about what mutants are better but the fact is that Omega Sentinel is way more like a mutant than a Sentinel, which is a bad thing because Sentinels are unique.
@The:

I find it really hard to make a good story involving nigh-omnipotent enemies. Assuming you want to keep the story within the scope of Earth and Earth characters. Because I mean, Thanos's adventures as he obtained power are pretty badass.
Omega Sentinel >>>> boring purple robot
There's also Nimrod and Bastion for humanoid-looking sentinels.
I was tempted to say Nimrod was more original looking than Bastion (who really looked human often) …then I remembered Rom and they do look similar, enough to say Rom's design can be seen.(helmet makes it look like no neck, boots too bulky - and this was before late 90's trends)

We also have mutants as well as humans there. I see that Omega Sentinel and I see one of the Phlanex (sp may be off) =humans/mutants 'artificially enhanced by machine' (this time by technovirus {{wonder if Marvel movies ever would mess those up?}})
She just looks too much like a cyborg or one of the phlanex.
I liked the original Sentinels because there was no human element to them. They were suppose to embody the lack of emotion, of no conscious, no compromise is possible, no mercy, and since they have no humanity to them, impossible to relate to as we do to the sad backstories of people artificially enhanced. The Sentinels were images of the machine that could take over the world (as they did in several AUs, including eventually in DoFP) Its an old story-type of man vs machine, not the human/machine hybrid (usually called that to separate from cyborgs who are human/machine but still have humanity in them).
….…
Hmmm….If given the choice I'd chose the purple people pulverizers over cyborg chick. I kinda loathe fembots cause they really only function as adding in some extra boob that's uneeded, like in that one Transformers movie..the 2nd one?
I would take purple robots, too.
Nothing beats Kirby!
^ I agree
Fembots are (almost) always sexualized. I can not remember one in the hero comics that ws just bizzare or odd shaped like how Nimrod was slightly deviant from actual human form, moreso than the first Sentinels. esp in his first appearances. It was lessened and more humanoid in later versions but not by much
This one doesn't look as … machine-like as the original, its hard to put into words.. its more fluid 'soft' lines of body that makes it look more organic.

Now this one made him look like a man in a suit with the detail to muscles. In fact is his face was blue and a different color scheme, I'd think he was the alien Kree Ronin!=

Kirby, I remember … a little (if tis the Kirby that wrote comics you're all talking about) Ditko, none at all. Please tell me about him
I agree that I always prefer classic Sentinels.
A-are they not going to use black panther, ant-man and wasp anymore? Why Scarlet witch and Quick Silver right now? (Though nvm, the shock of them being in it this early would be cool I guess)
Phase 3. After Avengers 2.
And Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver because Whedon grew up on them, likes them, and the powers are visually unique.
@Nex:
Am I the only one who is worried the cast might be getting too big? I mean, I want Ant Man, Wasp, and Black Panther, but add in all the new characters in phase 2,
Everyone doesn't have to be in every movie. Ion Man might get a break after Avengers 2. Black Widow and Hawkeye and Nick Fury don't need to be in. It can mix up. And someone has to be the villains!

Thats what the fans want but the studios can't get it together. it's not likely to happen.
I'm pretty confident that Avengers 3 will rival Return of the King in length.

They WERE bankrupt on the verge of going out of business at the time.
And they didn't make their own movie studio till like 13 years later.
It was a sensible deal at teh time.
Kirby, I remember … a little (if tis the Kirby that wrote comics you're all talking about) Ditko, none at all. Please tell me about him
Co-created and drew Spider-Man and Dr Strange. And has easily one of the most interesting drawing styles of all time
Read some early Dr Strange and see for yourself
Ditko created the Question and the Question's even more objectivist jackass cousin Mr. A.
Basically he's the reason that Rorschach exists.
I really loved that Alan Moore interview where he claimed that Ditko refered to Rorschach being like Mr.A…..But insane
Ditko also did Blue Beetle, one of my favorite superheroes. :)

Hmmm I wasn't fully interested in the GotG movie before. It was "hm interesting but I'm not likely to see it". But with Glenn in it, I am more interested. I may not go the movies (hadn't gone in years) but I would think about renting it once it came out on DVD - or if it came on On Demand
!
!
Doctor Who's Karen Gillan cast in Guardian's Of The Galaxy, some say she'll be a villain, others don't mention that:
