Because it's look like that Bartolomeo can, cause he defeated a Vice-Admiral. As we known is common among V.A. that they all know and can use at least one type of Haki. -

What if he even learned (basic) mantra/CoO? I mean, if Tashigi can learn haki, so can Bellamy.
It's hard to estimate just how strong he has become.
-
How did Ricky even get in? There's supposed to be a weight limit, yet it looks like he's wearing full body armor.
Maybe he is barechested, it seems he only has armor on the shoulders and head of course, and looking at Jesus, I'd say he met the max weight limit.

Jesus was half naked, only wore a belt and a protection on his right arm & shoulder.

Besmirched.
Mangapanda's translator is also a fan of Game of Thrones.

What makes that Ricky guy even more suspicious is the fact he's just called a generic "Gladiator", like Lucy and Becky […]
[…] and Meadows and Acilia…
Who started all this Ricky nonsense?
Definitely that prankster Urouge.
-
You know, I think this would be a good opportunity for Sabo to finally show up, he could be there to guarantee that Ace's DF didn't fall in anybody else's hands, just like Luffy. Him being Ricky or not…

It would have been the right time to introduce Sabo if so much shit wasn't already going around IMO. Throwing Sabo in would cause chaos.

But that is the thing, I think it would match nicely with a reason for the CP-0 being involved… Assuming that Sabo is tied to the revolutionaries, that is.

ahhh that's an interesting theory, I'm all about that Ricky=Sabo now! eh for a long time I still think he's alive somewhere.
-
[…] and Meadows and Acilia…
The chances are good that Burgess also entered as a gladiator since he was hiding his identity too. So there's a chance that gladiators could win all 4 blocks! Either way, it's a title shared by elite and fodder alike. But it definitely seems to be the title of choice for someone who's hiding their identity.
Definitely that prankster Urouge.
I prefer to think of myself as a promoter… for awesome.

He's alive, no doubt.
@isrnick that's a nice theory. Although, they could be there just for some other stuff related to dressrosa and DD maybe. -
The people called "Gladiator" here at least to me seem like the ones that just don't have another thing for them. They aren't pirates nor bounty hunters or anything else, they're just…strong fighters proably. Some of them might be in the colosseum more often (Rebecca, Spartan), others just want to hide who and therefore what they really are (Luffy, Burgess, Maynard).

MY GOD.
What horrible things awaits us in this year's character tournament?

Fighting Bull & Lion tag team.
Oh wait, you said horrible things. My bad.

Speaking of Fighting Bull and Fighting Lion: Maybe they are (Kaido's) SMILE users?

Or you know, he could watching the entire thing from the stands. :P

Because it's look like that Bartolomeo can, cause he defeated a Vice-Admiral. As we known is common among V.A. that they all know and can use at least one type of Haki.Anyone can use haki. The thing is, barring cases of some innate affinity, it seems like you need to have an experienced and knowledgeable teacher to be able to understand and master even the basics. Not just that, but it should normally require the motivation to endure years of dedicated training to be able to reliably control it at all. It's not something you just naturally add to your game as your strength progresses normally through battles and experience.
Personally, i doubt Bellamy fits either of those criteria.
Also, in terms of haki, i don't think it necessarily means anything that Barto beat Maynard. Haki is nice, but if person A is much stronger, faster and generally more powerful than person B who can use haki, it might not matter much even if person A can't use it.

Just wanted to ask, is there a chapter next week? I got confused with that Golden Week stuff.

Yes. .

Thank you sir!
Will it be available on Wednesday or earlier? If I'm not mistaken the chapters usually come out earlier before breaks.
-
Earlier, most likely.

Probably earlier. Monday or Tuesday.

That's great, thank you very much.

I don't know. How about.. tomorrow?
-
Oh boy! Can't wait :D
Certainly one chapter before a break its aways epic. I can not imagine in what way will make it this time Oda
-
I don't know. How about.. tomorrow?
Unlikely.
We usually get the chapters on Wednesday, 5 days before the actual release (which is normally Monday). This chapter is released on Saturday, so I'd say Monday is the most probable.

Like the reveal of Ricky!

I just don't understand why Oda would introduce so many characters who probably aren't going to be seen again? Unless we will see them again? But if we do thats a lot of characters.. And also Ricky to win Block B lol

Despite the story revolving around the main characters it's nice to know the fictional world of One Piece does not. Yet. Completely anyway. Things go on in the back ground and later they just may pop up again more important than we previously could have imagined. Just wait for Lip Service Doughty to show up in Impel Down with Bentham. They may be fodder in a tournament but who knows what could happen when the characters ultimately cross paths again. I mean you know, this is One Piece.

There's likely going to be relatively large scale chaos on Dressrosa at some point this arc. I'm sure these characters will have roles to play beyond losing in the tournament.
But even if they didn't, i feel it adds a welcome layer of texture to the world. It's nice when everyone isn't nameless faceless drones.

Why couldn't we have had such clarity at Marineford?
-
Thoughts about the big numbers of important characters in this arc.
DD is cooking something here.
Why he created the Tournament just after quitting the Schichibukais?
Maybe his strategy is to make confussion to the Marines and W.G. by bringing all this dangerous people to Dressrosa. By doing this, he is creating more targets (DD, Law, Mugis, Fighters) in one place for the M and W.G., so that will make DD more chances to run away. If he never created the tournament, the Marines will be arrived to Dressrosa and captured him very easy.
But as we see, Fujitora didn't was affected by this, he's heading straight to Greenbit. -

Just like when he did the same thing at Marineford?
Trust in Oda, buddy. That's the only advice I can give you. If the doesn't use all the new characters right now, he also can do it later.

Heck, Doffy isn't even running the show himself is he? Think he left it to Diamonte just what would happen to the Mera mera and all this tournament mess. Anyway this isn't the first tournament, it can't be if people like Spartan already have 52 wins in it. Maybe the first time it's had such a high stake prize…but again it wasn't specifically Doflamingo's plan alone.

Speaking of Fighting Bull and Fighting Lion: Maybe they are (Kaido's) SMILE users?
Wow, that would actually make sense. We have Burgess there already, why not have some of Kaidou's SMILE users there for us to get a glimpse at how powerful they will be?
DD is cooking something here.
Probably meth.

If Ricky's here, then Fred has serious competition this year.

I have a thought: how is Toei gonna adapt a chapter like this into a single episode? This entire chapter is nothing but one dialogue followed by two page spreads introducing characters.

The same way they always do.
Lots of panning still shots of the competitors looking angrily at each other, followed by existing characters making completely unimportant comments about them to pad out the running time.
Also, they might make Bellamy's story longer and include a flashback to his defeat, probably more than once in the episode. Maybe even nake up a story about what happened on sky island, and flashback to Bellamy giving DD the gold pillar, and flashback to DD telling Bellamy he has to win the tounrament to join his crew, etc.
Remember, this is the company that last arc added a completely new and plot-hole-inducing flashback to child Hody, and later on had a flashback TO SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED IN THE SAME EPISODE to pad the story out. They'll find a way.

What was that episode again?
Also, expect each fighter to get a 10-second close-up shot. That's already 300 seconds (over 5 minutes) of cheap and potential padding right there.
-
What was that episode again?
I don't remember the episode numbers, but the first one was one of Hody's earliest scenes (I think), and I think the later one was when Luffy was attacking Noah and Shirahoshi remembered him attacking Noah or something stupid like that.
-
They could be creative and use the holes Oda is leaving between the other characters and their scenes to make filler that feels like its adding to the plot as a whole. Or am I asking for too much?

Chapter 706 Review:
- Safe to assume that the old woman is the mother or grandmother of Gabura and that the photo will be of her and him…
- I'm really digging Bartomoleo. His attitude towards the upper class and overall appearance have been more impressive then most this arc. Looking forward to his fighting abilities being revealed.
- However Bellamy did steal the show. His complete mood-swing from cocky asshole to respectfully calm was impressive. I'm curious about what he did on Skypeia, but right now I'm more interested in his progression this arc.
- Despite people saying the designs are a waste, I am really digging these gladiators. Damask, Slayman, and Ricky look the coolest I think, but overall the distinct designs and appearance make for a nice visually well-rounded group of fighters.
- As expected, I figured Dagama's group would have an army at it's disposal to do it's dirty work. I expect the same from the Funk brothers (To team up and wipe out the competition (But with Luffy there we know how that'll go). Bellamy or Bartomoleo will come out the victor I believe.
Overall: Short chapter, meant to introduce all the fighters as we all saw. Very awesome looking character designs and I'm loving both Bartomoleo and Bellamy. Next to Burgess, I'm expecting Rebecca, Bellamy/Barto and Luffy to head to the next round and duke it out with the Donquixotes. I'm digging this arc so far!

Is next week or the week after a break?
I'd like to see Law and co get to Green Bit as well as Luffy or somebody in the coliseum fight. Anyone else think Luffy uses CoC to knock out the fodder and then it's like a 5 man free for all?

Its possible but (IMO) I would not think so because of Cavendish's words. He mentioned that the audience likes a bloody fight. I think that's why the rule against firearms is there .. they want to see the fighters pummel each other into a bloody pulp. [HIDE] [/HIDE] Sure Cavendish makes the comment of "who wants to see a match prolonged by swords and armor?" but CoC would be too quick and not be bloody at all. And sure this is Luffy (who doesn't care about rules), but he also enjoys a good fistfight, and doesn't take the easy route. Lets remember he yelled at Usopp when he asked Rayleigh about One Piece because it wouldn't be adventurous, not be fun if they didn't have that uncertainty (did it exist, is it really at Raftel ect). Whent ehy first left FI, he wanted to go to the most dangerous island because it would be an adventure. Now I admit I can be wrong, but I think Luffy would want to win by his fighting powers and not using CoC.
