I wonder if there are any other people who are under the Yonko trying to obtain the fruit. It was well stated that those three guys who are in Luffy's block that have the number tattoos on them could possibly be from Kaido's crew.

I don't really see him improving to the point where he can beat someone who easily beat a weak Vice Admiral.
One question tho. Would you be disappointed if Bellamy won or would you only be surprised?
le defraudará?~

Well maybe a bit of both. Mostly because I would find it weird that a Vice Admiral got hyped by destroying a 65m (?) bounty pirate, then someone crushing him easily in the same chapter, then 2-3 chapters later that same character gets beaten, only so (likely scenario) Luffy beats Bellamy again several chapters after… Build a shit load of new characters, hype each one so they get pummeled by the next guy only so the inevitable end is to hype Bellamy only so he gets beaten by Luffy again? :S
Also if Bellamy beats Barto, the whole Vice Admiral rank will become a bit of a joke, everyone in New World can beat them...

Whoever the victor, I'm expecting a close match up. So at least if one does lose, because their fight was so evenly matched, the loser will still get their respect from the readers.
lo vamos a respetar~

Rebecca is totally a subordinate of Blackbeard and will get the fruit from Lucy and take it to him with Jesus and Cavendish after learning that his new friend Lucy is really Luffy he also joins Blackbeard along with Bellamy who got rejected by DD. Bartolomeo teams up with Law and Lucy to take out DD/Kaidou. And Ricky will win Block B and be Lucy's final opponent in the tournament before Diamante and reveal himself to be Sabo/Gin. Yeah crack fantasies!

Yeah, these guys who are strong warriors in 90% of the world are complete jokes!

You know, if Bartolomeo manages to advance, then Cavendish's chances of advancing kinda rise. They're practically counterparts both physically and mentally, so it's hard (for me at least) to see one of them advancing while the other gets left behind (if Barto loses, then Caven's chances of winning will also decrease). When Dagama mentions the both of them in the same light, it almost feels like foreshadowing.
-
Easiest way to look at it is that Rebecca will have plot relevance regardless if she wins whereas Cavendish is entirely linked to the tournament atm. What's more difficult to judge is B block. Either way i see Bellamy losing at some point in the tournament and being mistreated by the Donquixore family which will anger Luffy and give him a more personal reason outside of the alliance to deal with DD. Somehow that more personal angle will work it's way in probably related to Rebecca, Bellamy or maybe even the Mera Mera.
-
I don't think it would be ridiculous if many people in the New World could defeat a Vice Admiral… I mean it seems like the New World is mainly dominated by Pirates (as opposed to Paradise and the Blues, which have a greater Marine presence), simply because they are stronger than most of the Marine officers (yet obviously not all of them are on par with Admirals).

Ricky gets no respect, I tell ya.
What makes that Ricky guy even more suspicious is the fact he's just called a generic "Gladiator", like Lucy and Becky, on top of the obvious full helmet.
He may just end up another space-taker, but he does look awfully suspicious lol.

Well, Meadows and Acilia have the same title, and they look like fodder.
But I agree, I immediately expected great things when I saw him.
-
Oh, thanks for clarifying, that was my mistake. ^^ I only remembered the time he 'killed' Enel, and the one he used on the beanstalk. Which was the third, did he use one on Luffy, or two on Enel?
Priest Shura

Ricky is Moriah in his new handsomer self. He is going to kick everybody's ass and wants to give Dofla some payback. Invisible fairy that stole Zoro's sword is a spider mouse graced by the hand of Absa.
… Ricky for nakama.
-
I noticed Ricky as well. for some reason he stands out.
Dagama guy is getting way too much panel time for my liking. He's earned himself a spot on the beat-up list.
Bartolomeo… Dunno what to think just yet.
Cavendish looks more and more like he could be a friendly rival to Luffy.
Cavendish vs. Rebecca - I don't see Rebecca winning her block. I think Cavendish has a better chance of winning, BUT i think that neither of them will win block D. The last block is a perfect chance to introduce some last wild card cliffhanger that Oda won't disappoint.
I predict that Bellamy and Bartologuy will temporarily assist each other to defeat that annoying Dagama, but then Bartolomeo backstabs Bellamy in such a way that will get Luffy emotionally involved. Bartolomeo wins Block B
Funny how Bellamy's legs are skinny compared to his arms. He probably doesn't do squats or calf raises because he uses his DF to change his legs lol.

We need a new thread where we bet on who actually is Ricky.

He's the guy who's going to tell Lucy that he has some explaining to do, that's who.

Do you guys think "Blue Gilly" is Oda's take on Bruce Lee? I think the hair and mouth could be tribute, as well as his pose (nose flick)

We shall see, Group B and D could have some interesting twists.

I don' think Ricky will turn out to be more than…just a guy named Ricky.
BUT if he turns out to be someone, it's gonna be captain of the first ship of the Buggy Pirates, Foxy!

He actually looks pretty badass

Most certainly. He's spelled very close to Lee.
ブルース・リー = Bruce Lee
ブルーギリー = Blue Gilly.

Calling it now, that old guy Lao Chin Jao, he's actually Seagull, from the Roger Pirates.

Is Ideo an homage to any famous boxer?

Is Ideo an homage to any famous boxer?
Closest thing that I can find is Gotoh Hideo, featherweight champion boxer from the 50s.
It may be a coincidence though. -
Personally I was thinking of Hideyuki Ohashi (the legendary Ricardo Lopez won his first world title against him).
-
Alot of those people are gonna lose their block, but i feel that their stories won't end there.
This is shaping up to be a long arc with alot strong guys to fight.

I think their stories will end here (at least for now). I get the feeling that this tourny was designed specifically to broaden the new world–i.e. to show some of the minor players and help create the impression that more is going on in the world than just 9 pirates sailing through the New World.
We'll probably see a couple of them later on in minor roles. I doubt we're even going to get on-panel knockouts for any of the ones who haven't had dialouge outside those spreads.
-
It's kind of obvious which ones are fodder and which ones aren't.
-
Anyone imagine if Law was one of the participants?
Room… Shambles... fight over
-
It's kind of obvious which ones are fodder and which ones aren't.
Except Ricky. He's either fodder of the century, or literally Sabo + Ace's Ghost + Luffy's Mom + Moriah + New D. Nakama.
-
Luffy should be fine in the first round.
I was talking about "faking" a lost, not losing for real. We know he is way stronger than any of these fighters.
It would be a fun plan and nice to see Luffy doing something else than fight. But him following a plan is less than expectable indeed. -
Who started all this Ricky nonsense?
-
Nonsense? He's the most suspicious character in the entire tournament! We had to start making a big fuss out of him because he wasn't getting his proper due around here.
What makes that Ricky guy even more suspicious is the fact he's just called a generic "Gladiator", like Lucy and Becky, on top of the obvious full helmet.

Yeah, that and the panel size also really made me stop and look back again when I first saw him. And Bellamy vs Bartolomeo just seems like a giant red herring to me. Neither really seem like any sort of a threat beyond the preliminary round, and there's no humiliation for them if they lose later on.
Technically, that pyromaniac guy (fire fruit) is a bit suspicious too, but he has Rebecca in his block. So he has a lot less of a chance to actually be hiding someone awesome. No, my money's on Ricky.
-
Looks like the Wiper posts got deleted, I guess they were too derailing?
Concerning the panel's sizes. . .You might be on to something, but only if that applies to B Block alone, cause in blocks C and D, the sizes are all random. Suleiman has twice Rebecca's panel's size, and in C Don Chinjao's panel time is the biggest by far.
But it does seem that in Block B, Ricky and Bellamy and Bartolomeo are the most prominent at first sight, which does seem weird indeed.
Logic (and the past 3 chapters) tells me he's a nobody, but we'll see.

Exactly.
He had a big panel, he's mysterious and he's in a section where there's no-one who has shown any real reason why they'd go through.

But him following a plan is less than expectable indeed.Too be honest, I think the most unpredictable match is the B team. I have NO CLUE who will win that one. There are too many main players involved. C is pretty much obvious. D is a crapshoot, but it'll probably be Rebecca. That's the only fighter Luffy wouldn't want to defeat. It's a mystery… Dun DUN DUUUUN!

Wait, why wouldn't Luffy want to defeat the random helmet girl he had a little chat with about stuff? :L
-
@NER:

Because they had a "moment" and Luffy would be quicker to ask her to join his crew than fight her. If he'd be wiling to do that, he may let her take the Mera Mera No Mi. And we would finally have another female member on the Sunny.
True. It's a theory, but not too way out for this story.
-
How did Ricky even get in? There's supposed to be a weight limit, yet it looks like he's wearing full body armor.
-
I'm actualy curious about the "Gladiator" specification. Does that mean guys dressed like gladiators? The weapons of choice? Armored guys?
Or that they usually fight in the Colosseum, thus being known by the public as "gladiators"??? Like Rebecca or Spartan?
If so, everyone should already know Ricky. Else, well, nothing to see here, folks.

counting that "lucy" got the "gladiator" name too,it's probable that they simply ask them with what "title" they want to be called…

Lucy got it too, that's right.
Then forget about what I just said.

You're all wrong. This is Ricky:
