I think he just stolen them before leave the marines
I can acept that justification tough it doesn't made the neo marines more smart since they only used them whem all the fodder were down.
Meh pacing issues.

I thought the PX were part of the Marines that Kizaru was leading,I just assumed they were like the first attack wave of the Marines! It never occurred me they were part of the Neo Marines!
I was watching it with some friends and even a friend said "oh no now the Marines got to the island too".
I guess I should watch that part again
Well maybe you don't want to be spoiled before you watch the movie but that was already stated on the leaks
Also check the mark on torso
The translation of Ocean's Guide on the wiki has to be the most awkward translation ever, look at this shit
…Yeah that's either Google Translated or just over-literal as fuck... Excuse me while I go purge that thing with fire and replace it with something roughly 638% more natural-looking... hopefully.

I actually translated it earlier on in the thread lol
Finally got to see it! And while I did enjoy it, I liked Strong World better except for one little thing that happened at the end that made me scream because I am just SO HAPPY, but yes, not a bad film. Great animations, and it kind of made me remember why I liked Sanji. Go figure… XP
awesome movie!
just watched it…
why didn't Ain make Z younger? uwotm8?
or she can melt the ice with her power and help Z to fight the marines at the end
! and why there is child version of perona in the credit? while there are no other supernovas like bonney, capone, x-drake, killer
buggy not showed because his revelation being sichibukai is not published yet at that time

i didn't even think about that. Huh.
And i imagine it's because:
! they are all the ones we've seen since the timeskip, at least when the film came out. Except for mihawk but whatever
This is by far the best One Piece movie I've seen. Z was really well developed as the villain of this movie, and this is the first time I've cried for a villain in the entire One Piece series. Me and my friend both shed manly tears at the ending. Loved the final fight. I honestly thought this movie wouldn't really be that good, so happy it wasn't the case.
I just got done watching Film Z and, as others have already said, it was phenomenal. Better than Strong World? Hell fucking yes.
The next movie is going to have its work cut out for it, that's for sure…
Man, I can't believe people actually want to see Glorious Island. Just when I'd come to think well of the community…
! What I felt odd is that kizaru letting SH sailed away.
He couldve bombard the ice with his magatama..instead he only focus on z.
I bet actually marines didnt really want to kill Z, we can see the VA only stay still and one VA even cried (whats his name?). Well perhaps borsalino also a bit carried away with z that he forget straw hats.
Overall, this movie is above strong world, for it not only having the "kakkoi" part this time but also a character that was built solid and sharp, which is z.
! And he's right marine is suck. Eventhough they aware that the pirate which they were about to give shichibukai title was the pirate that destroyed a training ship with z was in it, they still give it. That and the fact that he was spared with one hand as the price. Z must've wanted death. Of course z wasnt the only one pissed about that. Sengoku, garp and the other would be the same. And wheres that absolute justice of sakazuki when this happened. Nah.. He's just robot following order.
One more thing, if the pirate that was being honored shichibukai was the same man that took the empty position just lately, z wouldve still be in the marine pre-time skip, which is not the fact we know.. So was the person the same man with the new person intmanga, the answer should be no. Except if the whole thing was non-cannon, then there's no mean to argue abt this fact.
the movie was good namis tits were nice
Man, I can't believe people actually want to see Glorious Island. Just when I'd come to think well of the community…
I can sort of sympathize for those wanting it. Completists like me want to see all of the One Piece animation out there, even fluff like "Glorious Island" (along with the elusive "Trap Coaster" short.)
the only thing i know about glorious island is boobs
the only thing i know about glorious island is boobs
Is it the prequel to the boob slide?
i didn't even think about that. Huh.

! well there goes my hope :ninja:
! I found many similarities between how Z treated at the end of film and Zack from Final fantasy 7 (crisis core)
BORSALINOOO~! cries
! Zeypher had a dream of becoming a hero of justice, but through the hurt of pirates on his family and the betrayal from the WG, his goals became more vicious as he reverted to his child-like state of what he believed was true justice. His new intentions become more vigorous as he attempts to destroy every pirate that hurt him for his perceived justice.
! It wasn't until he fought Luffy that he realized that by destroying everyone, he would be destroying the dreams of everyone around him, just like he had as a child. It was Luffy's determination and his good nature that makes Z realize that they have dreams too just as he had his own, thus his perception of pirates change and ultimately his desire to kill everyone vanishes.
! He then proceeds to fight against his old comrades in the Marines knowing that there is no going back, he is happy knowing he was such a role-model to them. He fights against them for their 'last training', but remains an idol (with Borsalino calling him 'Master') to those reminiscing. Z dies as the strong 'Hero of justice' he always wanted to be.
! Zeypher wouldn't be the 'Hero' Z he imagined as a child if he killed everyone from setting off the last point. If he did then everyone who idolized him would also die, ultimately this is why is stopped, because he cherished his childhood aspirations so much that he didn't want to destroy anyone elses. Kuzan treats him like a true idol, and makes sure that Z's two closest comrades respect him for who he was.
! Z is by far the best villain so far in One Piece. It's hinted at throughout, but it's not until the final scene until we see Zeypher as the Hero 'Z' who idolized the justice of the Marines, it is reflected in the credits when we see the child (big mouth) idolizing pirates with his own costume similarly crafted like Z's**.
! Dreams continue to live on as long as there are aspirations!**
I'm still finding it really hard to pin-point the main message that was being conveyed, because there are so many. I think the main thing Oda tried to convey were the aspirations of a Marine, rather than a Pirate which is already heavily highlighted in One Piece. Ultimately this is a story about Z's aspirations more than anyone elses, hence the title shown again at the credits.
Anyone else want to give a shot at tackling it?

I don't really think Oda tried to convey anything. Mainly because he only has overseen the movie afaik.^^
But a really good analysis of Z's character!

Thanks, I think this particular film's story is manga worthy even if it's not an Oda thing. The themes cut very close to themes I would have thought would be at the climax of the entire OP story
! such as the 'end points', the emphasis on children's dreams. I'm not surprised there wouldn't be another movie unless it surpasses Film Z. I think would be very hard to imagine even the story is only currently past the start of the New World.
So when Oda drew those characters we never saw as children in his S.B.S, was he intending to put them in Film Z before he drew them, or was it a coincidence? It was cool seeing them animated, but the surprise was spoiled by seeing them already!
Also, I can't fully grasp the first scene with the crew celebrating the end of Autumn with the cherry blossoms. (where are the petals falling from?) They mention things such as the poison protecting Usopps plants are affecting them, and Zoro and Chopper both comment on accepting/not-accepting the change. Then Robin mentions how agricultural chemicals can affect the human body.
It's like there's supposed to be some meaning or metaphor behind it, maybe to do with accepting the passing of time. It seems out of place from the usual crew carry-on, especially for their introductory scene.
@Don:
Before timeskip would point to BB (maybe DD) and during would points towards the one shichibukai left so far in the shadows.
I had assumed that it was before the timeskip and that it was Mihawk…But if it's after then I have no clue.

! You know, this movie almost struck me as a warning about the dangers of idealizing institutions/people. Z's driven to the point that he is because he has these ideals of justice and heroism and believes that the best way to put his ideals in to practice is to join the Navy. He does that, becomes an admiral, loses his family, stays on with the navy, lose his arm and a training class, and stays on until he finds out that the pirate who killed his trainees is now a Shichibukai. The extent of how much he idealizes the Navy and their ideas of justice is insane and it strikes me that despite all of the darkness that exists in the One Piece world, it's the failure of the Government to live up to his standards that pushes Z over the edge.
! And in all honesty, this really resonates with Smoker's statement in the manga and anime about how organizations aren't infallible, no matter how good they are, because they're made up of people. And then in the manga…
! >! Kuzan echoes the sentiment with his line about he didn't think the Navy was all that from the beginning!
! And so there really seems, at least to me, to be this underlying message about how dangerous idealism actually can be because the strength of Z's ideals - justice and heroism - were so great that when the Government betrayed them, Z took a more extreme route to uphold them. Obviously, his methods were wrong and completely contradictory, but that was how strongly he believed in what he was doing.

You're right, that has to be it! There's just so much to dissect in this film compared to the others, I think it's because it brings forward a lot of questions about the underlying themes/ ideals within the OP world, such as the WG and Kuzan as mentioned. It raises more questions which we don't see often in the manga. I hope Oda delves deeper for future chapters.

! I love that bit from Smoker but I can't find the chapter/episode.
! Can you help me jog my memory?
Zephyr's path to redemption was very well done.
Overall, it doesn't look too forced yet still delivers the emotion across.
A fitting end for Zephyr.

It's in Chapter 664 - Master Caesar Clown. The episode it's in should have a similar title.
So how come akainu still boast about justice and stuffs. He's the same corrupt level as WG themselves.
Just saw this a day ago. This was one of the best anime movies I've seen, certainly better than the few OP movies I have seen. The illustration and its style was beautiful, I don't just mean more detail than the half assed attempts of the way the anime is now, I just mean in general, the colors, feel, really engaging. I know it's not possible, but having high detailed illustrations like this would be amazing in the anime, makes me wish the anime itself would only air for half a year and we would get a great anime.
I loved the story, everything flowed well and the antagonist was really an awesome villain. I have to say though, is it me or does Garp and Sengoku look a lot older? :S Luffy in this also doesn't look 12 anymore, which was nice to see. Animation, illustration, music (loved that song that Aokiji(?) was singing), story, pace, everything went well together like a well oiled machine. Is this canon?
10/10
Kizaru, man. The way his fight scenes were done, it's almost as if he was god-like.
Incredible movie! Loved every second of it!
Wow the subbed movie came out way earlier than I expected. I really love the camera/angle works in the fight scenes of the movie, they are one of the best parts. The only problem is the quality of the video but I'll watch the movie again when they upload a better quality and better translation of it.
Z was definitely a way better villain than Shiki
Great news!
That means a better quality rip will be available fairly soon.

Meh boring standard junk. Throw in like a limited edition Figuarts Zero figure or something. :getlost:
You just know that the limited one will sell like cupcakes due to a certain orange-haired lady displaying her refined body.
First time I would actually order a Blue Ray overseas, its worth it, I want it. I also want it to sell out and for the producers to aim for this kind of quality in the future

I'm very tempted to import the Greatest Armored Edition, even though I've never imported anything. I really enjoyed the movie that much.

Looks that way. Honesty, I'm more curious in how the deuce this connects to Z in any way. As far as I can tell, the 2nd part of this special never got leaked and the 1st part presumably consisted of little more of a series of close-ups of Nami swimming, most of the guys eyeballing her, and some Nami x Brook fanservice. Oh, and a sea creature of some sort. Does the 2nd part tease a bombshell revelation about Z, the WG, or the New Navy? A series of close-ups of Zoro's pecs as he's working out juxtaposed with show-mo footage of Chopper rubbing suntan oil on Robin, with a brief glimpse of volcanoes erupting at the end? Hopefully we find out sooner rather than later.

I think all this thing is, is just showing the strawhats screwing around on the ship 5 minutes before we see them in the movie
Its basically a "deleted scene"
So finally got to watch it.
Seemed to be basically Oda having another bash at the themes from Strong World but from the marine side. Much more successfully this time too. 4/6 are still my favourites, but I'd quite happily sit down and watch this again.
now only still missing One Piece 3D: Trap Coaster Special :-(
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but do the Japanese DVD/Blue Rays have English subtitles?

16 characters of no.
Didn't think so. Not a tech guy at all. So can you upload a subtitle package or something?
Ok I watched the movie, and I know I'll be hated for this, but for some reason it didn't have as much epicness as all the hype said it would… There were some pretty rushed scenes, such as Zoro and Sanjis fight... and some others, too long to mention them all...
But what bothered me the most is:
! If Z lost to Luffy because of old age…. why didn't Ain use her Mono Mono powers to make him 12 years younger? -_-

! It has been discussed in some pages back. Basically Z is a proud man, also he was prepared to die.
As it is the movie was about 2 hours… the fights couldn't have been longer. Also... it woulnd't be belieable that Ain and Binz would give Zoro and Sanji more trouble than they already had. Z was a problem being a former admiral and all

! Because Z didn't think he would lose to Luffy. It wasn't until they were in the middle of the third fight between them that it even became an issue. Ain wasn't around to use her powers then and we have no reason to believe that Z would've wanted her to.
