Wow, all the responses I´ve got now made me even more enthusiastic to get this thing done. I don´t know if it is a good or a bad thing. :mellow:

I mean if we really would like to get it done then we would have to get everything organized somehow. I would do it myself but since I neither would be the one to write the explenation letter, nor the one to print that roll out nor the one to send everything together to him I have my doubts that I would be the right person to get this thing organized.
Plus the problem remains that people who are not willing or able to take a picture of themselves would be left out in this one.

Dang, the more I think about it the more I would like to get this thing done but without some guys who organize this thing correctly this idea remains nothing more then a fantasy. :sad:

Guys, guys… :happy: Far be it from me to try and defuse a perfectly good hysteria, but every body seems to have missed the first line of the message.

The second line does indeed read "because of the author's sudden illness, OP is on hold". But the complete message says that because of Oda's illness and Pyuu to Fuku Jaguar's author being busy gathering data, the two series will be on hold in this week's issue of Shounen Jump. As far as I can tell they seem to be referring to the week of issue 18, and it looks like they are expecting him to be back the week after, so no need to panic.

On a side note, while I'm sure that get well wishes would be heartwarming for Oda, I doubt flooding his mailbox and/or sending a huge number of pics would be a good idea. The intention would be good, but it would probably result in an unvolontary mail-bombing/overloading of his mailbox. I don't think he really needs that right now…

Hmm, I say we send a CD, instead of printing all the photos, it would take less space. Just be sure to write "get well soon" over the cover and make it look pretty.

They sure do. However, the chances of it getting to him in time or otherwise is a completely different issue. If Oda has the work done for each chapter a few weeks in advance of its print, this could have been something that he may already be getting over.

I know a number of us have sent him some pretty heavy-duty care packages/things, SBS questions, fan-art etc. in the past and have nothing to show for it when seeing the care he gives his fans in Japan, it seems odd that not a peep comes from what he gets abroad other than the one Intl. SBS a few years back.

The japanese seem to be very vague when announcing this kind of stuff, so I wouldn't worry so much about Oda-sensei having a horrible disease or anything. From my experience, the term "illness" could range from pregnancy, a simple cold, stress or "lazyness". He's probably just feeling under the weather, but god forbid it is anything serious!

I understand what you´re saying and there is the chance that it may never get through to him. However I for my part would be ok with getting it done and send it to the correct adress. If it never reaches him then we couldn´t do anything less but at least we gave our best. That is all that matters (even Kant says that).

And if it gets through to him then the mission would be accomplished. The motive behind my idea is not to make Oda communicate with us but to cheer him up. All this time his creation was there to cheer me up in so many different aspects. Of course OP isn´t important for my studies, for my job, for my spare time with friends, for scoring with women etc. But still it is an important part of my life. And it´s all because Oda created such a wonderful piece of artwork that touches me. And if I just cheer him up a little then I´m already satisfied. That´s all that matters to me. I couldn´t care less if he ever responds to this or not. I wouldn´t be doing this to get a favor in return. It´s me who wants to return a favor to him to at least for once bring a smile on his face.

About Oda's illness, I'm not worried. Sure the delay is sad, but as long he gets healthy and continues, this incident will be forgotten soon.

I speak Japanese, only a little, and I offer myself in order to write the letter.
I know the SBS address (Stephen has given to me) and i don't know other addresses to which send the letter (however NO E-MAIL).

Task that Oda would never read the letter written in English, but only in Japanese.

I don't agree in the idea to send the pictures of us, too much cost, too much volume, to much annoying for Oda.

Instead everyone of us can write "Get Well Soon" in his language and sign his name on a paper than scan it, or write on Paint (or similar) and therefore send the img to the email of the guy who will send the final letter.

I think this is the easier and effective way to say him "Get well soon". Ok?

I have a life, I have a lot of friends, I have a girl friend, I go to school, I write about games/movies/music in a couple of newspapers and do a lot of things beside of reading One Piece. But still, One Piece is still one of the deepest meanings in my life. It give hope when everything else fails, gives a fantastic world to escape to, to enjoy, it gives a perfect discussion object, and so on.
I reflect One Piece in everything I do in my life.
Taking away One Piece for me is like taking away a BIIIIIG freakin' part of my life, like taking away the never failing hope and light, taking away pretty much everything.

I am not religious, but I pray to the fucking god/gods that Oda will get his health back and that the illness is nothing other than a cold or something.

If I would have lived in Japan, I would gladly been in for this project, but now I live in sweden, and that sucks. =/

i have to bring somethin' up. as most of you probably know, in the anime of fullmetal alchemist, from ep25 SPOILER(the death of hughes)SPOILER,
the anime is diffirent from the manga. why the sudden changes in the anime? the anime of fma released to early, and that's why it was so close to the last chapters, at that time. anyway, my point is. i'm pretty sure that everybody had fun watching fma eventhough the changes. so, let's say that the manga of OP will be on hold for too much long, so that the anime will come too close, and then! toei will continue a story of their own. would you accept that?

if somethin' like that will ever happen, don't be surprised if in the end luffy's dead and he finds out about some crappy-gate that can pass you to another world, just like fma XD

Not very many series start anime -> manga. I can only name a few off the top of my head. But FMA manga started first.
