My, my, we hadn't witnessed such a load of fanwank in quite some time. Excuse me, but I'll leave this thread before someone suggests that Buggy should just split one of his atoms and cause a nuclear explosion.
Oh wait.

That was pretty wild. Cindry is still my favorite Thriller Bark character.
Trying to figure out "Obdo Ku Doroa", could you tell us what the kanji next to Obado mean?
Chopper-Doctor-Wants to find a something that will cure anything(pancea I think was the term)
Is this true? I'd like to know in which chapter this is stated. I thought his dream was to find a family that accpets him.
Ugh, talk of substance and chemical reactions… This thread needs more Chocolate Pudding logia, with the power to neutralize pseudo-science.
Logias get the power to turn into "stuff". "Stuff" being anything you can easily distinguish and is malleable enough to provide the characteristic Logia shapeshifting. Anything that fits that bill can be a Logia.
I assure you, daniz, that Oda never asked himself the question of how strong the gravitational constant is in his universe or how the magnetic flow can be channeled into Grand Line. More people in this forum should go buy the mangas and read the SBS, that's where you can see how Oda really thinks. His explanation of Luffy's stretching abilities were delightful.
Uh, no, he doesn't have a lot of scientific knowledge. He's a manga artist, not a quantum physicist. Nothing in One Piece goes beyond seventh grade physics.
I'm not starting a discussion about those fruits. Like I said, to my eye it's obvious that they don't need a detailed explanation. We're just meant to read it and have a good laugh at how retarded it is.
I enjoy One Piece to the fullest. I love the story, the characters, the romantic ideals and the action-packed battles. Pseudo-science is not going to add anything to that, rather take away from it, One Piece shines because it doesn't take itself seriously.
Wow man this is your personal interpretation. I don't wanna get in a discussion here, but both DFs you are mentioning are not just something Oda made up, especially BB one. Oda knows what he is doing especially with physical science: reducing OP to something Oda just made up well is really restrictive.
Quite the contrary. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Oda pulled the noronoro particles right out of his ass. I don't even want to go into the black hole thing (lol pun), he can absorb stuff and then spurt it out in pieces? That's so accurate! Especially because we all know black holes naturally adopt the shape of oozy black stuff and because gravity is always stronger in places where there's no light. Who would have thought you could build a perpetuum mobile just by switching off the lights?
Seriously, I tend to think that trying to find a scientific explanation behind One Piece is in the same camp as saying it's not aimed at seven year olds. "It's not for kids, it has science!"
@Monkey Spirit: I rather like the complicated explanations behind some of the fruits. Oda seems to enjoy them too, or he wouldn't have invented things like the Noro Noro particles or used gravity for Blackbeard's Darkness fruit. Sure, there are some fruits that defy all reason, like buggy's and Moria's. But these are for the most part a minority.
I see it the other way round. Both the noronoro particles and the way Blackbeard uses gravity are signs of Oda laughing in the face of science. He just made up stuff right there. The noronoro has no scientific basis and Blackbeard's powers don't work like a black hole's at all, it's hugely simplified because Oda doesn't care as long as it's cool and fun.
When's the last time a fruit had a complictaed explanation?
And I like it that way. When I want pseudo-science I go grab Kenshin or Naruto.
Well, all I have to say is that Oda likes to keep things simple, he's never cared about complex physics or chemistry and doesn't require a detailed explanation for every little thing.
Good examples of this would be the bubble fruit being able to wash away strength (how exactly could that happen? no, wait, I don't want to know) or the explosion fruit's workings (was he a nitroglicerine logia? again, it's irrelevant) or even the dismemberment fruit allowing levitation of body parts. We don't need that to enjoy One Piece and Oda knows it.
I'm trembling at the sort of "theories" people will come up with next to week to "explain" the workings of Perona-chan's fruit on a subatomic level.
Edit: It's also the reason why I'm against Brook having used any sort of music-based techniques up to this point. Why go for a long-winded explanation when plain One Piece sword-fighting can account for what we've seen?
