Well, the date mentions 10th of April and this message is from this week's jump (3rd of April) so we MIGHT get a chapter this week but I'm not recommending holding our breaths

I think we might get a chapter, because if I'm not correct, mangaka usually have their chapters written and drawn up a few weeks in advance of them actually being published in SJ. I'd say we'll see OP next week, but the week after that, doubtful. And as for the lack of manga affecting the anime, doubtful, because I'm sure they'll just not air new episodes and show something else. I think they did that for this last week.
On a side note though, I think we should send an e-card to Oda wishing him a swift recovery.

I'm distressed to hear this too, but I think some of you guys are overreacting. He's been working on OP for 10 years without any other period where he was ill (at least none that I know of), and everybody gets an enduring illness every now and again. If he's got a bad head cold, he's probably unable to complete a week or two of work that's all. I don't think he's dying guys, he's still young :happy:
But I do hope he isn't "sick" the same way celebrities suffer from "exhaustion" (yes, I do think Oda experiments with drugs. How could he not with some of the stuff he comes up with?).

Oda… You're a workhorse, man. The guy brings us our favorite story every week for a couple months straight, superhuman endurance. This "illness", whatever it is, is just some supernatural force telling Oda "Slow the hell down and take a break". He just needs some rest.
Whenever he's back to full capacity, I'll be ready and waiting for some more Enies Lobby goodness. But until then I'm not going to worry - the man's never failed us before, I'm sure he'll get better soon.

omg noooooo!!! not only will the manga stop but the anime is now in serious danger since it is so close to the manga already. i hope they stop the anime till oda get's back to making one piece. it's going to suck if they stop the anime since naruto, bleach are in filler hell right now. :( i hope oda get's well soon and hope Ikue Ohtani get's back to one piece soon.

Is this the frist time he fall ill? Anyone can fall ill at anytime so it should not be strange if he had not fallen ill before.
To some people, Oda may not fail them, to others, he can fail them base on their opitions. I worried he may fail us.

If anything happens to Oda and the series ends at chapter 406, One Piece will be full of plotholes that will be premantly unanswered.
I want to see a Luffy Vs. Lucchi battle and Usopp reuniting the crew. Also many new island has yet to be explored. Waiting for this arc to finish, it'll suck if the series ends at 406 and leaving many story elements untouched.

Except for what people call the stomach flu. That's really gastro intenstenialitis. No relation to influenza at all.
I hope that the Bird Flu hasn't hit Japan. All of them walk around with masks on when they aren't feeling well, but still that seems like it spreads fast.
I'm sure Oda has notes somewhere….
The manga would probably continue. He might just not be able to draw it for a while, he could still write it. I'm sure his assistants could kick it in high gear.

The law of Ueki also has a stop frame on it just like One piece does. The same kind of "The manga artist is sick so the manga has been stopped" type message.. now i advise the weak of heart to not read this last part…
The sickness notice was given in NOVEMBER. Ueki hasn't been published since then. Now....what if OP ends up like this?

I doubt he'll die, I'm right now worried for him and I get cold chills thinking about this event, my stomach growls nervously. Unless if we get clear information of this situation we have to wait for more information.

I find something like that a more likely cause than a virus of some sort; if there's any possible way for him to draw, then he would be.
I almost wonder if he's having problems with his wrist or hands after all this time. Nine years of drawing and writing a comic has to put a helluvalotta stress on those.
