well it's not like hunter x hunter's manga is on stop because the mangaka's ill.. more because he likes to take 4 month holiday every 4 chapter :laugh:

It's not only a rule in japan, it's a international LAW
& agreement, treaty .. (well it's a rule for all doctors not to share "medical secrets" but in most country that became part of the law)
Meaning you may not reveal to the public what disease does one have; unless he/she gives his/her agreement :ninja: -

Comic book artists and mangaka get no sick days. They are expected to be at their board whether they have a cold, the flu, etc.. They all know the deal..
Which means, that Oda is sick and just doesn't have a cold or the flu. I hope he gets better soon and makes a full recovery. I have to say that I am worried though.

Hope it is not H5N1 virus….. but everytime im stayin sick at home all that i am is getting bored...so now he have plenty of time for drawing ...and maybe he will have some halucinations from illness and that will inspire him for some new things to come......

Dang, must be at least kinda serious to interfere with publications.
But hey, I think this is the first time I've heard of an illness in all the days I've been following One Piece. That earns respect.
'Course, I'd be a bit more at ease if it was a just a couple-a-weeks break or something, rather than an unspecified illness. Or if they at least kind of mentioned what kind of illness…. Now it's gotten me worried. :\

I really do not see how people could believe this is a Joke. Causing this much disruption is no laughing matter. And lets not think the worst of this sitatuion as in he could die etc… Its highly unlikely. If it was life-threatning serious- we would know about it. At least i think we would.

People believe, or better, they want to believe that this is a joke for two reasons. One they are greedy, even if they don't mean to, they want the chapter. And second they are worried for Oda, and if this would be a joke, which at this point is surely not the case, would make them feel better, knowing that their favorite mangaka is OK.
I don't think this is serious. He is probable in bed, sleeping or eating something warm. It is NOT the bird flu or some dangerous disease. The most logical thing would be if he had a fever and needs to stay in bed for a couple of days. In one or two weeks he's back up and giving us our weekly chapters.
Anyways i wish him a speedy recovery. -

Pretty young, actually. He was born on Jan 1, 1975. Which means he's 30, if Christy is not mistaken.
Christy believes he probably came down with an illness like the flu or something. He will probably be well in a few days to a week. Christy says not to worry, as that will lead to sadness, and that will lead to depression, and the last thing this world needs is more emos.

Christy is a strange woman. Not only does she enjoy talking in the third person, she also enjoys writing strange things. She thinks perhaps you should stay away from her. Or talk to her. She likes that too.

For the record… definitely not a joke. Assume it were a joke... what's funny about it? Get a bunch of readers worried and deprive them of their favorite manga and then expect people to laugh about it when they find out it's not true? It'd be very disrespectful and not funny to anyone.

If it were April Fool's the mastermind should be stricken from the face of the Earth. There's a rule. April Fools is ONE day a year. Taking advantage of any other day means you're a hack and a little bitch. I can even accept having fun with time-zones in different countries but like I said, this was before AF even in Japan.
Not that I wouldn't find it funny, just that the originator would be a piece of crap.

Did Oda not care for his body? It sound like Oda is in a rush and not watching his health.
