Hopefully this means we'll get to see more of Doflamingo soon, he's really one of the most interesting characters in the series.
Chapter 673: Vergo and Joker
-
-
If there were ulterior motives for offing Moria, it was probably Vegapunk or someone in Kaidō's pocket.
-
I wonder how this is going to develop.
Since it's obvious that Vergo is not going to kill Smoker and the Strawhats his cover is already blown and that would force DoFlamingo to act quickly against Smoker. Maybe he'll try to frame Smoker and get him throw out of the marines, that could sort of force Smoker to join the Strawhats against Dofla to clean his name.
Luffy-Law-Smoker VS Dofla, now that could be a thing to see. Well, fanfics apart this was an excellent chapter.
-
@Trumtatta:
Probably Gol D Roger wasn't dead. He stays all this time under cover by the name of…Doflamingo...
Doflamingo is just so bad ass that he can observe his own execution from afar.
-
Why did a pirate's public execution inspire people to become pirates? :P
-
This post is deleted!
-
Only for the one piece. But now we know that the one piece is Doflamingo. So we can assume that all the pirates want Doflamingo. Why? Because he's so charming and well-dotated…
-

Because it's based on a real pirate who was executed. Go look up Olivier "The Buzzard" La Bouche.
-

I was half-joking in my post, but DAMN, that is one intense story. The cryptograms are so much like the Poneglyphs, it can't be a coincidence. And someone is STILL looking for Olivier's treasure. O_O

So CC, Vergo, and DD have to be working together right? I mean why else would CC name the pet slime Smiley?
-
So CC, Vergo, and DD have to be working together right? I mean why else would CC name the pet slime Smiley?
Doflamingo has a dirty marine under his control, Vergo. CC can only get away with his activities because Vergo covers them up. Considering all the go betweens, CC is probably unaware that Joker is Doflamingo. We can assume that Doflamingo needs something that CC is working on, but I doubt that it involves the children, because that just seems weird. Maybe it's the "key" on the island.
-
I thought the smiley thing was a play of words, you know slime -> smile
-
^yep, i thought the same. But i guess CC called not only for that but because that sounder friggin adorable x3
-

And because "Slimey" would be terribly uncreative.

About Vergo, i think possible fruit can be a Fat-Fat fruit ( he loves frites and hamburgers, they stick to his face and fat is sticky) it can be a logia. Or a stick stick fruit paramecia, he can stick everything together and that explains the food stuck to his face, toughts??
-
I bet he has no Fruit powers, and is just a messy eater.
-
But who knocked down the strawhats and Smoker? I doubt it really was Caesar.
And Law was brought to his knees by Vergo when he was able to resist Rayleigh's haki, it could be a weird DF.
-
-
@Baldulf: All the subordinates and marines that were there said that Caesar defeated them
-
@Fire Fist:
With the reveal this chapter (which wasn't that big of a shock, really), it's apparent that Doflamingo works for Kaidou. Kaidou obviously wants Moria dead for unknown reasons (probably involving their conflict 10 years ago), and considering the lack of respect Doflamingo has for the government, he's the only one I can see being able to give Doflamingo an order like that and expect him to follow it. So, with Vergo and Law working for Doflamingo, and Doflamingo working for Kaidou, it's apparent that Law wants to take down either Kaidou himself to free his obligation and ruin Doflamingo, or Big Mom, to eliminate Kaidou's competition.
I think this is a very good concept. I don't know whether this has ever been considered before, but ever since sabaody I've had this nagging feeling that Doflamingo was a noble himself turned rebel, much like Sabo:
This kid picture has cocky ex-noble written all over it! -
What if Sabo IS him?
-
@Trumtatta:
What if Sabo IS him?
Flamingo is 41 right now. :I
-
-
What a badass, he takes them really well…
-
What if he ISN'T?
Then Oda lied to us, which means he did that to cover the reality up. And why would he do that? Because he is Doflamingo/Sabo!
Mind blown.
-
I like that the characters in One Piece have rather realistic ages for their power… The only anomaly is Shanks,
but he may have just aged well. Law is a fluke, the other Shichibukai probably treat him like a child. -
Flamingo is 41 right now. :I
After the accident Sabo became a super genius, invented a time-machine and went 19 years back in time with intention to change the world. Then he ate the string fruit from his friend Vegapunk because Sabo helped him with his research. Later he became famous, joined the Shichibukai and started a complex plan to kill the world nobles.
-
That's pretty funny, how Law was under Doflamingo one time, lol.
But I thought Zoro and that Samurai was going to duke it out from the ending of last chapter? -

Or, far more likely, the order was given by the WG. Doflamingo doesn't require respect for the WG to take pleasure in killing its enemies. Else, why would he have even shown up in the first place? Its obvious that he loves battle/fighting. Plus, there was a scene with Doflo explaining to some WG dude that Moria was able to escape, with the WG dude berating him about it.
Doflo doesn't really seem like the sort to be someones subordinate as well - he's built up a pretty impressive pirate empire by the looks of it (slave shops etc), with him at the top. -
But I thought Zoro and that Samurai was going to duke it out from the ending of last chapter?
What? No, Kinemon is off to rescue his son and Zoro's tagging along for the chance to see more of his sword techniques.
Besides, this isn't exactly the time to be fighting an ally, especially when they're being chased by a large mass of sentient poison and three (possibly five) of their crew mates, including their Captain, have been captured…
-
Zoro wants to learn how to cut flames, but I have a feeling he already has from watching and he'll demonstrate his ability to pickup new sword styles just from seeing them once soon. I'm glad you all thought my suggestion of Doflamingo being an ex-noble was so funny, but I really believe it. Oh and on a completely different note, was it ever confirmed the mermaid cove was Sanji's All Blue?
Oh and btw, did you know Pandaman was Bepo's father?

Thanks for the clarification.

My opinion is that Doflamingo could easily be a Yonkou-level threat to WG if he would go against them. There has been many hints in the story that suggest that he is a really strong guy, the newest hint being that he has underlings who can KO other shichibukais without even touching them and whacking them unconscious with a freakin' bamboo-stick.
(Oh, and did i mention that the particular KO'd shichibukai had 440m bounty and was able to take out a logia type marine vice admiral?)And all that while another Doflamingo's subordinate KO's 400m bounty pirate along with his crew and a marine vice admiral.
-
Oh, Oda, what have you done? As if Doflamingo wasn't hyped enough already…
-
I still dont understand how gas can eat a devil fruit, or even a sword.
Posonous gas can do it by corroding it…that's kind of like eating it but a sword..?! I have no idea how...maybe if a sword cuts it? One Piece has some wird stuff.. :D And that's just how I like it.
-
Hmm I think when Franky is awake they can escape.. I mean.. how do you wanna stop a cyborg from breaking out :'D..

There is going to happen something with those frozen.. inmates.. that last panel on that page is disturbing xD

When Doflamingo actually shows up and is laughing with his tongue sticking out I want Shanks to show up and 'Belamy' him with one shot.
Shanks - Ok, you've been running around causing enough trouble. Funs over. BAM! -

Shanks - Ok, you've been running around causing enough trouble. Funs over. BAM!Doflamingo is obviously top tier and I really don't think two top tier fighters can end their fight in a single blow, Bellamy was different he was at a much lower level than Luffy it is really not comparable.

pretty sure the sword doesn't eat it, it was stated ( i think in the cp9 arc) that vegapunk had discovered the way devil fruits transfer their powers, and with that knowledge he was able to imbue it to objects. ( last part wasn't confirmed, it's simply the only logical conclusion)
-
Doflamingoes will be Doflamingoes.

Sanji likes good looking females and mermaid cove was filled with it that is why he said it was his all blue when it's not.
-

Well, compare Vergo with Zoro and you know that beside the capt`n you could have other big shots right next to you.

they're called devil fruits and the reason only one person gets their power is because only ONE devil spirit is inside also the first person that takes a bite gets the devil spirit inside them this was said during enies lobby by the cp9 the world govt agent they said that world govt scientists found this out in other words vegapunk did!
People who EAT two fruits blow up because the devil fruit spirits inside them fight and destroy the body also Blackbeard's darkness fruit can stop devil fruit powers which means the other fruit spirit cannot fight so he does not blow up also Blackbeard used his fruit power to suck out Whitebeard's fruit he never ate a second fruit.

That's not what happens. That was Jabura's interpretation of what happens. We don't know what they really are, but Vegapunk does, and Oda said they'd be explained by him eventually.

Oh and on a completely different note, was it ever confirmed the mermaid cove was Sanji's All Blue?
No, its not All Blue. All Blue is a region that has all the fish from across the world in it.. While at Fishmam Island, it never said that fish from all over the world is there. Not once
@Law:
Sanji likes good looking females and mermaid cove was filled with it that is why he said it was his all blue when it's not.
That's the reason right there! In the definitions of the All Blue, it was to find a place where a cook can find all types to cook, never was it said as a place where mermaids of all fish types live.
That is why Zoro said Sanji's dream is a 'cheep dream', Sanji had easily turned his back on the real meaning of his dream when he claimed the island was 'All Blue', since he would never cook up a mermaidAnother point to think about, if Fishman Island was All Blue, then it wouldn't be a myth and not believed. Many people have gone to Fishman Island, esp pirates as they can not cross the wall of the Red Line above by going through Marijois. A pirate's only choice to traveling between Paradise and New World is to go through the tunnel at the bottom of the Red Line, which means passing through Fishman Island. That passage has always been used
That is too easy to find, All Blue is still considered a myth, therefore, Fishman Island is not All Blue
-
I doubt the Devil Fruits are entirely scientific, though. There has to be an actual curse in effect here, possibly related to the "Void Century" Robin has spoken of. When you talk about people coming back from the dead and people ranging elemental powers, it can't be entirely scientific. I am certain, though, that Vegapunk has made it more scientific with his research. Either way, I am looking forward to the explanation 50 years from now. Hopefully I'll live to see the day.
EDIT: You guys seriously thought Fish-Man Island was All Blue? I thought it was fairly obvious that it was just a joke…

It's been commonly thought that All Blue is actually Reverse Mountain, or at least under Reverse Mountain. All seas flow to it, so it would make the most sense for its location.

Dofla actually works for Blackbeard, you know. What happened is, after Luffy fucked off from Mock Town, Blackbeard and Dofla caught up, like old acquaintances do. You know how it is, just catching up with your old homie, shoot the shit, memory lane and all that. Anyway, they had a good old chat about dreams, and Blackbeard pointed out how sick dreams are, like, you know, how sometimes they're pretty cool and shit. And how Roger had heaps of 'em so if he loved them how bad could they really be? Dofla came around and the rest is history. Basically they're BFFs now. Anything more you ever want me to clarify, all you have to do is ask, no problem.
