Law don't have Haki he uses strategy, when Smoker solidifys his body in front the rock, Law use it as a place to hide from his vision and took his heart at that moment.
Chapter 662: Shichibukai Law vs VA Smoker
-
-
Nice to see Law get choked and struggle a bit in close quarters. Really shows he is not as physically strong as his peers.
-
Or maybe the attacker has a superior CoO… just like when Whitebeard did a succesful sneak attack on akainu at marineford, for example. I believe it works the same way with CoA too - like in that scene, during the war, in which Vista and Marco's haki attacks didn't harm Akainu's logia body.
Well...in the end, we'll have to wait until Oda explains how the haki of one person actually affects the haki of another. Great chapter,by the way.It seems reasonable that if both have haki, the effect will be nullified if defender's haki is stronger, or the damage will be done if the attacker's is stronger.
On an unrelated note, we are finally getting some information. Master is the one evidently calling the shots, harpy and centaurs are under his command, Law is working with him, and dragon, interestingly enough, was apparently something that Vegapunk cooked up.
-
I dont see any reason for luffy to fight with law over smoker. He will tell law to change his friends back to normal or he will kick his ass but why would he tell law to fix smoker?I would find it quite annoying if he did. Either by luck or smokers crew or smoker himself should free .. himself.
Also Smoker fainted?I think he has gone into a shock of you know losing his freaking hearth and probably getting scared of dying.Like any human would feel as long as they arent D.
Take the hearth out of D.?A smiling D. will punch you in the face :D.Harpy looks soo cool. Its possible that its a mythologic zoan but seeing how everything in the island is put together like tetris pieces she is probably custom made :)
Btw in page 15 he impaled smoker with a big piece of rock. That was awesome.
Also if you think about it.Bluenos power is similar with Laws fruit.Opening a door on someone on body or taking a piece of it.Laws fruit is like an evolved door fruit :D
-
@Dan:
I really don't think that's Hawkins. Hawkins is calm, cool and collected. Very monotone. This M guy is more excitable and animated. Like Buggy.
Not strange really. He created an opportunity and caught him by surprise.
Yeah, I suppose the drawing style was similar, which is what threw me off.
As far as smoker, what confuses me is that despite being logia simply not seeing the attack coming apparently was enough to bypass his defenses.
And the way he slumps suggests being dead or unconscious, which so far hasn't happened to anyone who Law cut up.
Most likely it's misdirection since I doubt Oda would just kill of Smoker, but so far it sure seems that way. -
no it seems that he got teleported, look closely
his jutte is off and his arms/hands are not visible anymore -
Nice to see Law get choked and struggle a bit in close quarters. Really shows he is not as physically strong as his peers.
It only happened because Smoker has a seastone in that weapon.
-
@vlad:
no it seems that he got teleported, look closely
his jutte is off and his arms/hands are not visible anymoreI'm pretty sure I can see his leg, foot, arm and hand in the top shot of the last page.
He is laying on the ground, dead or unconscious. -
-
It only happened because Smoker has a seastone in that weapon.
It happened because Smoker grabbed Law. He never landed a hit with jutte's tip (which is where the sea prism is), otherwise Law's room would have been gone and fight would have been over.
-
It only happened because Smoker has a seastone in that weapon.
All seastone did was stop Law from slicing the Jutte. The Jutte didn't make any contact with Law. Had nothing to do with him being choke slammed.
-
Hahahaa! Sanji's new bounty photo is the back of his head. That man can't catch a break.
-
@skr:
On the three pictures under Luffy on the Bounties page, I'd guess it was an angry Garp next to Dragon and Ace. Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji were in the plaza in Shabondy (before Fishman Island) which I guess is where they got their pictures updated. the rest of the crew will probably have to wait to get back into civilization get new photos (unless Smoker's crew finds some way to take photos while being completely useless.)
Actuallly everyone but Franky, Robin and Chopper got new pics. Zoro's shows his eye scar, Nami's snows long hair, Usopp's face ..well half of it, Brook's SK crown ect. I think you're right of the photos being taken on SA though. It explains Sanji's, say if it was taken while they were they fighting the PXs, photographer likely hit the button while they could see his face but Sanji was too fast as he went into a handstand to deliver a kick, so when the photo was taken, it got the back or top of his head.
All pics taken on SA by a reporter would explain why pics are same as bounties = Franky & Robin's pics are from Water 7 and Chopper's is from their after-battle party on Water 7.Question: Underneath Luffy's picture there is obviously Ace and Dragon. Who is that 3rd guy to the left of Dragon? Or is that just some unrevealed dude?
Are you sure its Garp? He looks bald, has a goatee and multiple scars on his right face rather than the single line Garp has.
Yes it's Garp, those are not scars but wrinkles and scowl lines.
Those thinking it's Garp, I don't think it is. I think it might be Dadan, as Garp wouldn't be included as he isn't a pirate.
Neither is Dragon, he's a Revolutionary. Those three pics were not showcasing pirate per see, but showcasing Luffy's famous/infamous family= Marine legend of a grandfather, Revoutionary leader of a father, and infamous Whitebeard Pirate Commander of a brother.
-
Finally a chapter who really offers much of info and wild guessing, so I will try to go through it and share my view for anyone who might be interested.
The Cover story surprised me, I didn't expect a new mino-beast to be on it. And judging by his clothes he seems to be a kung-fu specialist. Now I do wonder. We know an approximate power of ID when Luffy managed to penetrate the great prison.
The strongest two were Shiliew and Magellan but since Shiliew was imprisoned after his actions we can safely say that Magellan was the ultimate guy to beat in case anyone wanted to come in or out of the prison by force. Other than that, there were those beasts, and the mino-beasts and I guess the vice warden Hanyabal and the domino and the Blue Gorillas + regular guards.
But with Magellan taken out. This might be a problem. Hanyabal's level of strength was really on far different level than that of the previous warden and so I wonder, is this new mino-beast a great boost in strength and if not is Impel Down less safe?Moving on to the chapter:
Well you can say that from the get-go you expect this to be a great chapter, since the title says Law and Smoker fight. But not before we get a small insight into Tashigi. She just like Zoro feels it is dishonorable to be cut and still live. Indicating the law by which all the swordsmen/women live. And later on what I think is important is this one little panel where she is remembering what Smoker said to her once: "Pirates will always be Pirates"
This is really a strong sentence because imo it sets a ground work for the future and her dealings with SH's.
If not until now, she will learn soon, that in fact, there are pirates who will not always be pirates (if you guys know what I mean) and that will be vital as crucial to that. In fact the way things are slowly taking their way it may not be impossible at all that after this arc Smoker and Luffy will be in different relations to one another and there may come another marine to take his place and chase down Luffy. (It is not that I think it will happen, but am letting the possibility….)
Anyway back to the chapter. What I find interesting in that little confrontation with Tashigi is also what Law says: "Weaklings can't pick their own way of death"
That indicates the way of thinking and the "code" Law may live by as also further on pint-points Tashigi's stregth in comparison to his.
After that we see some more of his ability and the way he can change what ever he wants at will. (snow for Bullets comes to mind)
Than the fight with Smoker comes and I'll just jump a bit to Luffy and his observation amidst all of that "ass wooping" I was genuinely surprised when Luffy could not figure out that some giant noise was not the work of Sanji. Remember he has the haki needed, we just don't know the range or the accuracy it posses. Well now we know it is not exactly a radar and currently only helps him a little.
It was funny as hell that they got the Brownbeard-croc guy to carry them all the way, but was at the same time again surprised they didn't just demand answers from the guy.
Than we skip shortly to the "MASTER" guy and the harpy lady. Here we get the confirmation who all is working together and as it looks like: It is all of them against the Samurai and Luffy and even Smoker but here I will relate to what Law mentions later where he replies to Smokers question on what they are doing with the same question back. Which could indicate (very likely) that this is some project of the Marines but most of the marines dont know about it because it is supposed to be secret and so on…
And in the end of the "MASTER" scene he learns who is it exactly he carried inland and is wracking havoc on it as they speak. + a bonus bounties (I think they have not changed one bit! - save for Luffys) We get to see just enough of them to know it. Franky, Chopper's, Robin's = the same and we know how Franky finished his training and how Robin was taken with the revolutionaries
Well does not matter much, but I really think they should update.
Back to the fight. Now honestly speaking I expected this fight to somewhat go in 2 possible directions:-
Smoker wins and than SH's are about to return the favour and save Law
-
By some events no one wins and they get separated for the time being
But boy was I wrong. Once in his area, you are really in trouble. Only Haki can block anything he does. So first you need to have that and than I guess it is skill vs skill, but with one problem, he basically can teleport across that area like no tomorrow and naturally changes things with in it. So not only you have to protect your own back and ass with haki, you need to be careful of other objects and basically where he stands in a giving moment. Really tricky
So in the end he manages to dodge one of Smokers attempts to hit him and use it as a counter attack where he takes his heart but brilliantly thinking he has it packed in ice so that his logia can do jack about it.And so is it how Law at least temporarily won this fight and we can by right ask ourselves if Law is not stronger than Smoker and also Luffy as a result. (my hope is that yes...he is) But most probably this is far from over. We'll see cause right now poor Law just gets a visit, he cant exactly shake off. And you know what. Instead of normal talk, which he could have done this will probably complicate like hell and result in some fight between them
All and all a really great chapter and I really really really want to know what happens next
We have a half finished smoker, Law and Luffy packed in a small place, should be awsome [h=3][/h] -
-
I've been thinking about this. Smoker asks "What are you scheming on this island" http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/662/16 and Law answers with "I'll let you answer that! What are you marines scheming" http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/662/17 . So Law is probably working with M, but it's something secret since Smoker, begin a marine himself, has no idea about it. So I guess it has to do with whoever Don Flamingo mentioned before here. Or maybe he's just playing around with Smoker's mind, well, I prefer to wait for answer instead of supporting a crazy theory.
Anyway, this was a good chapter, Law is really strategic using his DF's powers to not let him be hit, since he seems to be weak physically. Still, his powers are kinda "broken", though there can be explanations to them and why he can do what he did.
And Oda threw such a cliffhanger to us, but according to MS there'll be no One Piece next week. http://mangastream.com/read/jpreview/87998684/5 -
Haven't read the entire topic, so I may be getting ahead of myself, but the wanted posters that have been updated are the Monster Trio (took down two PKs in Sabaody), Nami and Usopp (destroyed that bar with the Fakehats) and Brook (newly discovered to be alive again). Thus they all likely have at least somewhat improved bounties, though not necessarily. I may be forgetting something but I don't think Chopper, Robin or Franky did anything particularly notably unlawful on their second visit to the groves. Also, the three pics under Luffy's face are Ace (badly drawn, IMO), Dragon, and … Garp ... hmmm, now what exactly has that old man been up to these past couple years?
-
… Sadly we can't spot the bounties
D@MN the bounties, I would like to see her buried treasure in her locked away in her treasure chest. SMILE.
WOW Law, didn't know you were that strong. Also Smoker-san has been training, his attacks were very well thought great use of his DF ability. I don't think Smoker stands much of a chance if he fights Luffy with his current power. I think Luffy has definitely eclipsed Smoker in these 2 years, especially after receiving training from Rayleigh. As someone said yeah it looks like Smoker is the equivalent of the up and coming rookies, however I thought those young punks Garp is looking after were supposed to be in league with Luffy, pre-timeskip.
-
What a chapter! I can't imagine how hard it is to draw these scenes with the ship being tossed and cut.
I like that Luffy has such a happy and nice face when seeing Law.
It was cool to see Smoker get a hit in on Law, but sucks to see he was so sorely defeated. There is also a small chance Luffy will tell/persuade/command/force Law to put Smoker's Heart back, seeing how Luffy is towards Smoker (Alabasta with Zoro saving him from drowning.)
-
@Lilly:

Yea, they didn't. That's why in the journal they are using their pre-timeskip bounties' pictures, because they haven't been sighted by the marines.
-
So…Sani's hair made a cameo in today's One Piece, as a potential antagonist? Sweet.
-
Anyone else kinda surprised that Luffy seems to recognize Law? Luffy was unconcuious during the whole time that Law was saving him and even if he learned who saved him, Luffy's terrible with names and doesn't read the newspapers and wouldn't normally connect the person who saved him with a person he saw at SA by their name alone. He would have needed to be shown a picture (probably the bounty poster) of Law to really know who saved him. Although since he does recognize Law (he must have been shown a picture of Law to go with the name), their interaction in this arc should be very interesting. Even though Law's messed with his nakama, it's not irreversable as long as Law's around so I can see them being both enemies and allies in this arc. Not to mention, Law could very well betray M at some point as alliances between villains usually end in betrayal (like the last arc).
-
Hah Sanji's new bounty poster doesn't even show his face. Poor guy.
Anyone else kinda surprised that Luffy seems to recognize Law?
I was just thinking that actually.

My memory is rusty, but didn't Jimbei tell Luffy that Law saved them once Luffy recovered?
-

I don't think that Smoker's heart is packed in ice. Law just cut out the area around in in a cube shape.
-
Great chapter!
- Dat Harpy. She's gorgeous
- Law's DF seems to be broken, but we're talking about one of Oda's characters. They always have a weakness.
- The new wanted posters… Oda loves trolling Sanji, doesn't he? xD
- WHAT is this Master dude? Oo
- I feel bad for Tashigi
- Nice fight between Smoker and Law, though I didn't expect to see Smoker loosing so fast.
- Aaaand Luffy arrives at the battlefield and has a happy smile on his face when he sees Law... if he only knew...
-
My memory is rusty, but didn't Jimbei tell Luffy that Law saved them once Luffy recovered?
You quoted the entire point and still didn't get it?
Luffy saw Law like once, maybe he doesn't remember or even know Law's name, but the weird thing is how he recognized him immediately. -
Holy Smokes… now THAT is how you do a fight scene . This will be absolutely brilliant when the anime rolls around.(instead of having two combatants stand around talking talking talking about how "my secret kekkei genkai jutsu #2342 ups your bankai level 4" ...zzzz)So Law's at the island investigating something? Does it have anything to do with Doflamingos secret mission? Or did Law get a similar assignment to do something the 'higher ups' want done? Times like this I can't help but think about the fact Law and Doflamingo have the same type of Jolly Rogers; the New Age smiley face ones. Hm...No OP next week?? T.T The suspense will kill me.
-
Luffy remembers people that are as strong as him or have fought on his side, as long as he has come into contact with them. He remembers those that are worth remembering.
That and the fact Im sure he remembers that it was Law who saved him. He may have been in a blinding rage when we first saw him after the surgery, but Im sure he would never forget someone that did him a solid like saving his life.
-
My memory is rusty, but didn't Jimbei tell Luffy that Law saved them once Luffy recovered?
Perhaps but what I'm saying is that do you think Luffy would connect the name Law with someone he saw at SA and didn't know who he was? He doesn't read the newspapers (unlike most people in the One Piece world) and can be terrible at remembering names so I don't think he'd connect Law with a guy he saw at SA unless he had a picture.
-
I'm sure that Luffy remember Law because he is a rival. I'm sure that he would remember Kidd as well. They're all psuedo friends.
-
Is there no chapter next week?

Good point.
I still find it funny Luffy walks in to a battlefield, and has a big smile.

Im gonna kick THE ass of the people who says Harpy for Nakama…....really, everytime we see a new character it's the same story and now it's been more than 10 years!!! So please stop!!! We know that in the next arc Tongo the monster tree will become the next Nakama!!! Oh and i forgot Kiki the bee girl who will join in 2 years....come on.....
-
The best thing we learned about Law this chapter is that his fruit allows for limited geomancy which is REALLY awesome. It shows that even on a open field he will always have something to swap and shamble.
-
I hope the harp is actually a harpy.
-
The first that goes through my mind when I'm done getting my weekly OP fix is "Please don't let there be a break next week!". But hey, atleast its not a hiatus; wink wink, nudge nudge.

Brownbeard for Nakamalammadingdong.:ninja:
-
That M look like Hwakins once he transformed during the Kizaru fight
-
I don't think that Smoker's heart is packed in ice. Law just cut out the area around in in a cube shape.
It seems fairly obvious given a rectangular hole in Smoker's chest.
Why are people in such a rush to post before reading through carefully? -
So everyone on the island is affiliated with each other? (sans Marines/SHs/samurai)
-
You quoted the entire point and still didn't get it?
Luffy saw Law like once, maybe he doesn't remember or even know Law's name, but the weird thing is how he recognized him immediately. They had plenty of face time on Sabaody while fighting marines.
-
Frankly, I think luffy should give law an ultimatum. Return smokers heart willingly or by force. Law comes off way too arrogant and that's reason enough for luffy to serve him a nice piece of humble pie. GOOO LUFFFY
Also, the so called 'gatling' attack that smoker performs are from his fists right?
For what? In all honesty why should Luffy give a damn about Smoker's heart at all? Let us weight the points. Fellow SuperNova who helped him fight marines and saved his life. Or Marine that wants to capture him. I choose the first option. Also, Luffy is no damn hero, and since Law saved Luffy life I thought he want to kill or fight him now.
Whyy wouldd't Luffy remember Law? Fought along side him on SA, Law saved his life, and he was told to remember them because they were his revials. Do not seem likely he would forget him.
On the chapter. Like always Oda shows us how it is really done. I am surprised he just got the Law vs Smoker fight after two chapters. I thought he would tease us, and show us what happened later. I am more surprised Smoker lost, but Law is one bad dude. I cannot wait for the next chapter.
-

Luffy saw Law like once, maybe he doesn't remember or even know Law's name, but the weird thing is how he recognized him immediately.Luffy said, "It's you!" not "It's Law." And since Law was there when Kidd made that speech about meeting up in the new world, I think even Luffy would remember a rival.
-
Haha I was actually surprised Luffy didn't ask brownbeard to join already.
And whats so wrong about wanting harpy to join the crew? I'm sure Sanji would love it lol.
-
Haha I was actually surprised Luffy didn't ask brownbeard to join already.

Besides being a weird girl what exactly do we know about the character that makes her worth joining other then being eyecandy?
-
Awesome chapter as usual.
Sanji's new poster is hilarious. Lmfao!!. Law is ,well, freaking awesome. I know he's the bad guy but I just gotta root for him. And his motto "weaklings can't pick the way they die" …damn right it is.
But I do hope the newspaper is not the real bounty poster. Not showing Nami in bikini's is a major crime IMO.
Anybody else gotta feeling that both sides are being played by the putty monster? -
So is it Golden Week time already ?
-
This post is deleted!

Happy lady is soooooo kawaii~
I hope she is next nakama~~

@No:
So is it Golden Week time already ?
Goldenweek is the last week in April into the first week of May.
-
At least Sanji's poster is a step up from before. From way back when the cover stories first begun someone made out the super tiny bounty and already called that Sanji's photo was the back of his head. Nice eyes! But really I wonder where Oda is going with this, will it be a major plot point again that certian characters don't know his face?
Also interesting to see Chopper, Franky and Robin don't seem to have new pictures. I wonder if brand new pictures are planned again soon after the Big Mom battle?
-
So a regular break then ? :(
