Alright, guys. You guys might not know the idea behind Dosun's power gauge, so here you go:
Dosun, the initial sound Dosun is adding to end all sentences coming from his mouth means thud,
Kotsun, the sound he's adding when he's extremely weakened, means clink,
Potsun is equal to English drop, as if rain was falling,
Posun is the harsher potsun,
Tosun is the weaker dosun,
Dogan is the harsher dosun.
I think it's funny, but without knowing japanese, it's hard to get it. XD
And didn't he say like one after Dogan ?
Thanks for the info anyway
@!Volpe:
I think the chapter objective was to show what the NFP are really capable of. But I didn't like it, except for Hyozou ( he is awesome).
And kids: don't use drugs.
Yeah I dind't think it was a great chapter, just like I didn't think last week was a great chapter either, they weren't bad and accomplished the goal that Oda was trying to reach though.
Ok, I really liked this chapter. I seem to be in the minority here.
But it was really fun, the villains were developed, but, above everything else. . .
. . .We got a map!!!! It may be small and not very detailed, but for fuck's sake, it's a MAP!
Also, I don't give a shit if the SH don't appear in a chapter. Even if next chapter it's only princes vs. NFP. We'll have 10 more years of SH panel time, the princes and the NFP only have this arc to shine. So let them shine.
On the low side, yes, Oda is recycling abilities like mad. It's understandable, he made a shit ton of them over the course of the series.
Shit, even in JJBA there are very similar abilities from different characters.
That's how awesome fishmen are; they can have DF like abilities and yet still be able to swim better than humans.

I agree with this.
Dosun would be a great match for either Usopp or Franky..: Fresh fire or fire star using against him
I agree with this.

You probably mean Ikaros, he is the one who's afraid of fire
Alright, there's also plenty of naming mistakes:
I freaking loved it, need to reread it but my first impression was great. I love Hyouzou now. Phew, Oda can be creepy! When he wants to be.
A weird chapter though, and yay finally a map.
Alright, there's also plenty of naming mistakes:
- Gyoncorde Plaza should've been Fishcorde Plaza. It's a pun on gyo (魚) - fish and konkorudo (コンコルド) - concorde.
- Coral Gaoka should've been Coral Hill. In the japanese it's 産後ヶ丘 (Sango ga Oka). Sango (産後) means coral, ga (ヶ) is the counter, while oka (丘) is hill.
- Gloverly Hills is totally wrong. In the japanese it reads ギョバリーヒルズ (Gyobarii Hiruzu), which is a pun on gyo (魚) and Beverly Hills (ビバリーヒルズ, Bibarii Hiruzu) and hence should be Fisherly Hills.
For the record, I think Gyoncorde caries the pun across sufficiently without just sounding too silly :P
But if that is the actual trans then I guess it's okay :P
Maps.About time Oda. The princes' strength keeps getting hyped. Hordy used to go around executing people? then at the time he would have no problem killing a monarch I guess. Hyouzou,Zeo and Ikaros (because of the dry squid spears) im looking foward to see you fight against the strawhats. Lol at Daidaros and the sun & lol at the (NFP?) fishman having enough time to squash damn cockroaches in the current crisis. I love sea monsters panels. What exactly is frightening though the screams/the face/the aura? whatever, good joob zory.
ps: the way oda has portrayed Hordy, getting 'badly' hurt already, the drugs & these 'in pain' wtvr scenes, really that guy cn't be the final boss of this arc.not only him, please where is Davy Jones :cwy:?
I liked some of the wackyness Oda gave to the NFP but didn't notice the powers were recycled from TB until it was pointed here?? The drawing here did bother me as if they were rushed but sometimes it looks like this when it's not cleaned properly right wsnt sure so I did not make a point about it.
Hyozo was the only highlight, the rest of the chapter was boring. The abilities of the NFP are not really impressive, and as someone already mentioned, just recycled from thriller bark / past villains.
And I'm really mad that we did not get to see the outcome of Luffy and Jinbe's "discussion". I hate it when Oda heats you up in one chapter but delivers completely unrelated stuff in the one after.
I guess the only way to make Oda respectable is getting him juiced. Hodi is a lame villian in my honest opinion. The drunken Fishermen is the the best so far this arc.
I can't wait to see the princes in real action.
Poor, poor Neptune, he must feel like a piece of useless thingy that just lies on the floor doing nothing. I want to see him kicking asses. I bet when he sees that his sons and daughter are in big trouble, he'll go wild and kick some asses. Many asses.
They all had awesome introductions, but the chapter kinda felt lacking because of no Straw Hats. :/
@No:
And didn't he say like one after Dogan ?

yes, after that he said bokan, sugan, bagon, and gyaban. No idea about their meaning.
I have a feeling that this arc is going to be better once all the chapters are out, and we can read them all at once. Because now it's a bit… lackluster.
And also, the abilities of the NFP commanders are really, really boring. Either they're reused abilities, or they're just... not interesting. Anyway, I'm still looking forward to seeing how things turn out.
Now that I think of it… have we seen Neptune's mouth yet?
Personally, I enjoyed this chapter it was much more interesting then the spoilers made it out to be. Quite a few folks seem to be disappointed but I think this chapter was very much important. So far all the NFP's besides Hodi have done is sit there and menace people into stepping onto the fumi-e. This is much needed character development obviously. They can be serious threats even while having humorous quirks even though I feel Zeo's "quirk moment" still has him among the most threatening of all of them. This is just how Oda designs his villians think back there were so many villains over time that acted like idiots only to be legitimate threats. For example, think back to Water 7/Eneis Lobby when Kumadori, Jyabura and Fukuro were introduced. All three of them could be viewed much as how the NFP's were in this chapter yet later on they became serious threats for quite a few of the Strawhats.
Will the Strawhats probably defeat them soundly and quickly? Yes of course but this is important for a variety of reasons. First is the most obvious: An exhibition of their Timeskip abilities. We still haven't seen what they are really capable of yet. This was to be the fate of any main villain team that was the first enemy of the straw hats post time skip. Second, these villains and their humorous yet not so deathly threatening abilities are important at this point in the story. We just got through what some might consider the most intense part of the series what with the separation, the war and the ramifications that followed. It may be unfortunate that Oda chose Fishman Island as the first major time skip arc after so much hype but its turned out to be enjoyable to me thus far. We need this, a break arc, to really kind of catch our break and do a semi-reset on how intense the series had gotten. I for one am enjoying the humor, the creativity of FI, and most importantly just the interaction between the Straw Hats.
Was this chapter rushed? Perhaps it did seem fast. It was crucial though because until now all NFP except Hodi and maybe Hammond have had practically the same personality. (With the exception of Daruma (or whatever his name is) who was referenced to be all hyper and loud.) Next week hopefully will continue the plot onward and we should see the fights starting soon.
Let me just say that I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter better than last week's.
It was a very fun read all throughout; seeing the NFP being all goofy with their character quirks at the same time showcasing what they're capable of was truly entertaining.
Ikaros did modified Gum Gum Gatling Gun
And Hordy is probably going to have as Hulk like transformation he will turn into a larger stronger uncontrollable version of himself
EDIT: Oh yeah I really like Hyouzou now he is a drunken swordsman looks like Vasco has competition as an alcoholic >:)
I sense a wonderfully thought out Bellamy section of this arc coming.
It isn`t that unusual that Oda portrais some villains in a goofy way.
But he decided that this time each "side villain" is kind of an idiot.
Mhh, i wonder if Oda did this on purpose to loosen a bit the tense atmosphere he created so far with all the racism and sad backstory he showed us.
I've edited my first post with the meaning of the sounds. Go check it out.

Of course he did, Ikaros has 8 arms, his punches are going to look like Gatling gun, it's inevitable.
Are you going to call Zoro a copycat too? Asura looked a lot like Hachi's swordmanship, since it's all about using several swords.
So guys, how do we stop a Sea Bear attack?
@No:
No, it's hidden by his beard :P
I can see that..
That map… is too damn confusing! xD Way too many places. But at least we have a map. Oh and Mangastream made it even more confusing with inconsistencies, they did call "Coral Gaoka" Coral Hill a while ago.
Oh and you're looking at the map from above, right? Sorry I'm kinda confused by this map…
Chapter was very cramped, all these NFP pirates were a lot to take in. I think that their introductions and abilities would have had more impact on me if they had been shown individually when the Straw-Hats inevitably pair off against them all in later chapters.
Fun chapter. I love me some funky villain shenanigans.
Also, it had the best interpretation of the Daedalus and Icarus tale I have ever seen.
Are you going to call Zoro a copycat too? Asura looked a lot like Hachi's swordmanship, since it's all about using several swords.
You mean illusionary imaginable swords?
So guys, how do we stop a Sea Bear attack?
Do we flame it?
i loved this chapter, saw nothing wrong at all.
looking forward to next week and what happens to Hodi.
BTW is anyone else happy that Zoro fucked up Hodi so badly that he's been on pills this whole time just to stand up? Nice one, Zoro.

the marine shopping mall is missed in that map

the bubble in which is written Gyovery hills is covering him.

I never said Ikaros (or anyone) was a copy cat I just said he did an attack that looked like a modified Gatling Gun
I would have called Zoro a copycat already if I felt that way
Why can't mangastream pay a better translator?
Sigh am too indecisive. Finished rereading it a second time, it does crack 2 or 3 smiles on my face especially the Ikaros and Hyouzou scenes c'mon! and that sea giraffe monster thing panel seriously I stand by my initial judgement Good borderline okay chapter. After this one and last week's I do hope though that the ones to come will get back to 'great' chapter level.
Seeing how Luffy and Jinbei are probably still having that waste of a discussion in the forest I take it the princes with brook, usopp zoro and pappugg will get to the plaza first? and
where the hell is caribou, so many locations were shown. wait no where is VDD? the guy was flying to the sea forest for god sake. By now too shouldn't the marines get in the picture a bit,not as in getting involved but showing awareness of the crisis going on by den den mushi conversation at least? I mean the king of Fishman island is about to get executed lol.
I'll agree that it's not the best OP chapter by far, but it's still a pretty good manga chapter.
Also, to those griping about the 'copied' skills - we haven't seen what plans Oda has for the match-ups or the full extent of their abilities. I'm sure Oda will give us some fun, original fights - when has he disappointed on that front? Just think back to previous battles - who thought a mole woman would be a hard opponent, or that soap suds could defeat one of the Monster three, or even that ghosts could be used the way that Perona used them? I know I wasn't expecting a lot of the things that have happened in past battles.
Sure now they seem 'recycled' but maybe, just maybe, Oda knows what he's doing!
Personally I'm looking forward to a princes vs NFP fight. Even though the princes will lose (you don't really think they'd win, right? Story needs to progress in a certain way for our heroes to become more involved) it'll be interesting to see what else the strongest fishmen are capable of.
Don't forget that the first powers we saw of other villains aren't the full extent of their abilities. Remember the Priests of Skypeia? Sure we saw the fire lance and flying bird, the dog and master and could guess at some of their skills but not all. And hell, there've been a few other 'double ups' like, oh, Ace and a certain Admiral who at first glance shared a 'copied' power but used it/fought quite differently.

My idea of the map: The map is showing a view from abouve like a normal map. I was confused by this at first glace because it looks like a mountain.
Dark grey is deep water light grey is coralls/light water. White is Land with air above. My idea of how a view from the left side would look like:
Right now the strawhats would be in the underwater part becaus the whales are swimming above then. The qestion is: Where do you get a chunk of land shape like that ^^
The Fishmen should've just drawn a circle in the ground when the Sea Bear attacked.
Alright, there's also plenty of naming mistakes:

I appreciate the info, as some people still don't seem to understand these things, but you're wrong about the necessity of gyo being translated into fish. you must realize that for the jokes to carry through to english…they must remain as gyo, right? it just doesn't sound accurate when you replace that with fish.
I appreciate dosun's sound elaboration too, I was curious about that while reading the chapter.
I'm going to start calling the New Fishmen Pirates: The Goof Troop.
The goofiest goofs to ever goof in a troop. What a bunch of goofy goofsters. I'm ashamed that Zoro was caught and had his swords taken away by these goofs. Did Mihawk sit around reading newspapers while running Zoro around cleaning and making sandwitches for two years? I'm thinking it might be best to take a 6 month break and marathon 20 chapters from here on out for best results. But it's just so tempting to look each week that I don't think I could do it.
ooh, thanks
finally we have the map of the fishmen island, although there is not much details
Well, after reading that chap I have to say if all the NFP officers get an E.S.-overdoze like Hodi, IMO the SHs will have interesting, hard fights.
Cause Hodi looks wicked sick in his last panel.
And the sea bear $hits bricks in his pants.
This chapter was okay. I liked seeing more of the NFP, but it did feel a little rushed.
The cover is pretty… well, how to say? I just wonder what the heck is he doing with a Zoro picture right over his bathtub.
Better not to think about it... :ninja:
