Wasn't feeling the usual One Piece love for this arc, but this chapter totally brought that feeling back.

With us not seeing Tiger rampaging throught Marijois, and now with a former slave being introduced, I wanna see a Hancock flashback someday…
Yeah I hope so, I really wanna see when he free all the slaves.

That smiling kid totally creeped me out. Oda really has a thing for drawing creepy children. Reminds me of Stelly.
Jinbe and Arlong seem to keep reversing places. Last week, Arlong was trying to keep Jinbe from going into a murderous rage against unconscious humans, this week Jinbe's the voice of reason. Weird.
This… makes me wonder if Oda didn't mess up the dialog in the last chapter...
you can't have a 180 turn because of nothing, if you are doing a flashback do it properly Oda i expect more from you :(
the "bloodlust" theory makes no sense
The difference is, Jinbe hears people out. He listened to Fisher Tiger, that it they'd be just as low if they murdered humans. As we know Arlong never stopped, he continued and ignored Tiger's ways
Koala creeps me out. o.o
But hahaha at Zeo and Daruma being so shrimpy.
Cool chapter.

There was a 3 year timeskip.
I think it also helps that he had seen so much of humans being evil and whatnot but actually see one that was weak and broken inside like, I'm sure, he's seen from his fishman brothers.
You know every time I see little baby Shirahoshi, I cringe for Otohime when I think of her birth…
I really like where this flashback is going. I like Fisher Tiger's ideologies. Jinbe and Arlong think they get it, but are then surprised at what Fisher Tiger truly believes in. It is sad that the little kid was a slave, but it shows how nice Fisher Tiger can be as well. One quick question. Did Fisher Tiger brand the kid with a Sun Pirate symbol? I know he wanted to remove the world noble symbol.
Great chapter, like usual.
Well, this is the closest One Piece has had me to crying since the "Pain is proof that you're alive" scene from Brooks flashback.
It's a bit of a streatch but maybe now each of the Admirals has dealings with a little girl from the past that they have to deal with in the present. Aokiji-Robin, Akainu-Bonnie, and Kizaru-Koala.
Or maybe not.
Arlong has not shown me any reason to be changing my hateful opinion of him during this flashback. I was worried I might feel sorry for him or something.

The reaction Koala gave after passing out kind of made me sick. That was the first time OP has ever given me that feeling before. I think the last time I teared up or came close was with WB's final spread. It wasn't even saddening though it was just overwhelming.
Oh my God at Kadahl's hair . And also, Borsalino is wearing a fedora after his namesake. It's about time. And it seems that Jinbe is the correct romanization. Hm. And Tiger's badass.
How.. how are you people almost crying and getting so emotional over this kid we were introduced to in the last few pages of the chapter? If anything, he was almost annoying..

Aokiji killed Saul in front of Robin's eyes, then let her go. He's been tormenting her ever since, claiming to be "checking up on her".
Akainu obviously traumatized Bonnie in the past for her to resent him that much. Magma-dick?
Kizaru probably also ends up killing Tiger in front of Koala. Would be really interesting if Koala = Sentoumaru. Would explain why he always calls Kizaru "uncle".
I like the theory of the 3 Admirals and their little girls lol

"Pain is proof that you're alive"? For some reason, I don't remember any statement like that during his flashback…do you remember which chapter it came from?

Here we have an 11 year old that's been tormented so much that the only thing they know how to do is smile out of fear of being killed. I mean that right there would scream more-so sadness more than annoyance.

Volume 50, chapter 487, Brook had just revived and briefly reminisced about something Yorki had said years ago.
Loved the chapter, I just want to point out a few things that are probably mentioned by others but still less discussed:
1. On page 6 you can see WB's flag in the background on FI buildings, small but consistent details like this are what separate OP from other Shonens.
2. Page 15, Arlong pissed off and accusing the humans blind, if you think about it he's probably raging about him not getting a bounty after Tiger and Jimbe (hi there Sanji)
3. Many wanted to see how FT raided Maryjorie, but Oda might be purposely leaving it out since the SH will be doing exactly that in the future

Ahh yes, after reviewing the chapter, I apparently came across it; indeed, some pretty powerful words..

The Jinbe thing is fine. After all, this whole flashback seems to be, at least in part, about Jinbe's gradual transformation.
The only problem is having Arlong, of all people, deliver that line in the last issue. If it were Hacchi, no problem here.
The slave boy and arlong's rant were the best parts of this chapter. I did enjoy the brutal beating of marines by the Mugi.. i mean SUN pirates. Otohime's epic attempt to make people sign a paper is remarkable. But i wonder how the WG will react if/when she brings up the petition(spelt wrong?) to them.
Because she use the girl pronoun "Atashi".

eeeeehhhh. geee, if you say so.
totally off topic, but since we were on the topic of yorki…think we'll ever see him again?

…
Yorki is dead. And even if he survived that disease of his, he would be dead from old age.
Hopefully, the flashback will finally start having a continuous flow instead of seemingly jumping back and forth between chapter cliffhangers. It's at the point where I wouldn't be surprised if we start a chapter that would explain Fisher Tiger's rationale and journey through Marijoa.
Given how young Hodi looked at fifteen, I'm starting to feel more lenient about fishmen ages now. I honestly can't tell.
I'm also glad I'm not the only one that thought Koala was creepy the way she kept smiling. That plus me spoiling the story before pics prevented tears. My mind went to a bad place though when Fisher ashed her into the room.

sniff reality sucks T.T…but Oda has done an amazng job with koala. no doubt she will be a very important character to come. and the part where she cries omg....ODA4LIFE

According to an SBS, humans in One Piece can live past 140. If Yorki is still alive, the oldest he would be is around 90. There is a small hope.
If Koala was the reason Fisher Tiger died (i.e. he was protecting her, lost his blood, no transfusion, yadda yadda…), wouldn't this bring a whole new twist to the "humans killed Tiger" mentality?
Immediate thought: There's gonna be a lot of mayhem that'll eventually leads to the SHP and friends raising all sorts of hell in Mariejoa. Hodi looks even more scrubbish after this chapter.
Nice to see more grey to Fisher Tiger than was alluded to in the spoilers.
I definitely felt the flashback got back on track in this chapter, and the bit with Koala was a nice reminder of the sort of bittersweet charm Oda throws into his flashbacks. The smiling aftereffect definitely struck a cord with me more than seeing a guy tied up in a cell, and that last panel is probably my favorite in a while, even if the kid is a major creep.
No idea what is going on with the Mangastream peeps, though.
Really enjoyed the chapter. Just got me thinking about whether Fisher Tiger's promise of We Will Not Kill Anyone to Koala is going to lead to his death e.g. Not being able to finish off a lethal enemy as Koala is present.
If Koala is still around fishman island after the flashback, it'd be pretty cool to see a human (or possibly 1/4 mermaid, fishman :ninja:) who has adapted to Life on Fishman Island, maybe with a knowledge of Fishman Karate, talking to fish and superior swimming skills.
I wonder, why Vice Admiral Borsalino? isn't that Fisher Tiger was attacking Mariejoa, tenryubito themselves and their home?
any possibility koala is Bonney? some reason that's what I thought immediately

I'm sure we'll see Sengoku at some point… and maybe even some Kong. Honestly, we've seen enough of Akainu, Kizaru, Aokiji and Sengoku for one lifetime... let's see Kong come and kick some ass. Hell, I'll even take some more Garp. Garp vs. Fisher Tiger would be the craziest shit ever.

You know what's funny? I had the opposite thought. I like Arlong more with these flashbacks. I actually like that he didn't change his mind despite that he seems to respect Tiger. But he still out right hates humans due to what the humans have done in the past.
Also Koala is creepy…>_>
why do some people feel that part/scene with koala a little rush? and what exactly Oda's want to achieve with that scene? and how it will be different or how it will impact to the story if Oda actually add more chapter to build up Koala and Sun Pirate relationship.. is it worth it? or you guys feel that Oda actually already achieved what he want with the original scene and the direction he's going to take and a little message that he want to tell..:wassat:
sorry for my bad english.
Aokiji got ohara. Now it's kizaru's time to shine in a flashback.
Get it? Shine? Hohoho!
@Mr.:

Honestly I felt that Akainu was the one that benefited from Ohara more than Aokiji.
Ok this are my thoughts regarding the latest chapter. They are my own, express my opinion only so hold your horses before flaming me for them.
The Intro to the chapter itself is nice. LEGO blocks and Straw Hats, easy-going and lovely theme.
We start the chapter with basically going in flashback in the flashback itself. So we see Tiger Fisher "pleading" with the King to basically break the ties to Human world. And what surprised me here and basically created at least for me some negative opinion about the entire royalty at FI is that all they have to say after the Tiger Fisher words is that now they probably won't be in the reverie, which sort of disgusts me.
Who cares? Really…
And queen going on and on with her sign this so we can attend the reverie and basically forcing their people to do her bidding and join her beliefs is not having any positive effects on me as well, no matter how Oda wanted to painted this and if he wanted to painted her as some good hearted woman, who has some higher idiological beliefs which ascend all those pesky grduges... it just doesn't cut it for me.
She is like a girl in the supermarket pleading her momma to buy her candy unaware that her momma doesn't really have all that extra money to constantly buy her stuff.
So sign this! If you want our country to ever have a chance of becoming part of reverie. Is in my eyes really a one big stupid sentence and if I were there I would have told her back, that I don't have a problem of us becoming a part of it, but NOT untill we are treated equally. And not just on god damn paper.
Ok so than we see the young Hodi gang, which I guess is cute and in a way portraits why they have become such characters as they are now today (though I am sure there will still be some pieces added here, which explain further the hatred towards humans, and it will probably have something to do with Tiger Fisher's dead (I am suspecting it will be about people who kill him, when all he was trying to do was help them by delivering that Koala girl or that he dies because of her, trying to rescue her, making sure she stays safe)
Than yet again we see Sun Pirates waping the floor with some rear Admiral, which is all set up really just to show how Fisher Tiger does not want to kill humans as he believes he'll become the same as them, no better
Than a short preview of what Kizaru looked like younger and in general how Marines are responding to the entire thing together with their bounties (Jinbei and Tiger Fisher)
and than it basically wraps up with them taking Koala and pledging they will take her home...
So all and all perhaps an ok chapter. Not much really happened, it all had purpose but I think all of this could be cut a few pages short and something more added in it. In next chapter I expect them to run in some kind of trouble because of this girl and because they pledged to protect her at all cost + not killing anyone in the process.
I would give it a 5 from 10 and rate it as an average chapter with some needed setting for the plot.
And will again add, that queen really annoys me. (just personal view of her)
you know… i have a feeling that doflamingo will show up at one time during the FI arc.. He's the one who seems to be quite a familiar person when it comes to term slavery..
Ooh. Grats on getting your coloring in the mangastream scan, Alina!
