Ohio Mom Kelley Williams-Bolar Jailed for Sending Kids to Better School District
Kelley Williams-Bolar was convicted of lying about her residency to get her daughters into a better school district.
"It's overwhelming. I'm exhausted," she said. "I did this for them, so there it is. I did this for them."
Williams-Bolar decided four years ago to send her daughters to a highly ranked school in neighboring Copley-Fairlawn School District.
But it wasn't her Akron district of residence, so her children were ineligible to attend school there, even though her father lived within the district's boundaries.

The law itself is rather dumb, not to mention the sheer length of the sentence. Trying to stop smoking might be a wise thing to do, but it isn't really their decision to make.

I've heard about that. Stupid that is, jailing her.

Gay Marriage bill in session right now in Rhode Island. Good chance of passing.
Fuck these reverse freedom rider fucks coming from Arizona and wherever. Get your backwards asses out my New England.

I wonder if they'll make the same mistake as Texas an accidentally ban ALL marriage.

Damn Berlusconi! Damn!
Berlusconi's party argued that he believed that Ruby was then-Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's niece and the phone call to the police station on her behalf was done to avoid a possible diplomatic crisis with Egypt.
….
-
Although he's unintentionally hilarious sometimes, I wonder how someone who's so obviously corrupt could stay in power for such a long time. What's even worse is the other countries not doing a damn thing, international relations my ass that guy needs to rot in prison.
And why would he ever believe that the niece of a mutlibillionaire needs to sell out her body. I doubt she gets a turn-on by wrinkly old scumbags. At least the three judges are women so his macho shit won't get him anywhere.

Well now that you mention it Mubarak was probably even worse but he also had torture and media censoring on his side + international support from USA, Europe, Israel etc.
With Berlusconi I seriously don't know what his excuses are, although since he's a media mogul I suppose censoring applies there as well. But has he ever done something extraordinarily important considering foreign politics?
-
Italy is part of the EU and the country obviously doesn't have a problem with him. Well, maybe a little. Maybe it's like Bush where he's the boss, but everyone hates him.

I'm assuming that Berlusconi is going under the "Hey, at least I'm not Mussolini" banner.

I can't help but have that old Greek song making fun of Mussolini playing in my head every time he is mentioned.

Basically he abused his power to bail an underaged prostitute out of prison, also he presumably had sex with said underaged prostitute.
He has done lots of other stuff as well like making nasty remarks about homosexuals and controlling the media at his will because he owns pretty much every bigger tv station in the country.

Dammit Old Italy what happened to cool peeps like Tiberius Gracchus and Julius Caesar?

They got trolled by Republicans.

Pffft Nah! =P
I totally had a crush on Julius Caesar when I was a little girl studying Ancient History. My crush was surprisingly awaken again when fuckin' Alain Delon played the part of Caesar in "Asterix at the Olympic Games". Damn I love Alain Delon. Wish he was 20 again. Heck even 40. I'd still hit that!!!

Didn't Shakespeare imply that he might have been impotent near the end of his life?
I've been hearing about Barlosconi on the news. Sounds like an old, creepy brat if you ask me.

Maybe, but Shakespeare was not a historical expert, he wrote plays.
That's like thinking bulls chase the color red because the movies and cartoons say so. It's still a bullshit myth because bulls are colorblind.

"My students are out of control," Munroe, who has taught 10th, 11th and 12th grades, wrote in one post. "They are rude, disengaged, lazy whiners. They curse, discuss drugs and sex, talk back, argue for grades, complain about everything, fancy themselves entitled to whatever they desire, and are just generally annoying."
"They get angry when you ask them to think or be creative," Munroe said of her students in an interview with The Associated Press on Tuesday. "The students are not being held accountable."
"Parents are more trying to be their kids' friends and less trying to be their parent," Munroe said, also noting students' lack of patience. "They want everything right now. They want it yesterday."
Yep. That pretty much sums up 75-80% of my old High school. Funny how that drops to like 15-20% in College.

Ai-yah….first my beer bottle joke, now this.
My humor has gotten worse, it seems.
I was just making an off the wall, semi-intelligent joke. Nothing serious.

Yeah, makes you also wonder why that person made that terrible career choice in the first place. Teacher isn't really a job your parents will try to force you into unlike med school for example. But nowadays were the social sector lacks so much working power I guess they're desperate enough to hire just about anyone.

Oh maaaan. Tell me about it! I tutored a grade 10 kid in math and he has absolutely 0% motivation. Maybe even less than that. Barely took notes for an entire semester, never did homework, and then i'm called to cram an entire semester of information into him in 2 or 3 days for exams.
"Where's your notes? What are you guys studying right now?"
"I don't have any notes. And something about triangles"
"Ok well.. have you covered the pythagorean theorem? Are you doing sine law?"
"I dunno"
"What's on your exam?"
"Everything"
"Like.. all the way back to factoring and line equations from the beginning?" "Probably"
"facepalm and explode"I tried to beat into him that he had to wake up and start caring about doing well in school, that would shake him up for a while, few weeks later he's absolutely no where again.
-
I had to learn all my stuff extremely close to exams myself, marathoning things overnight because…..well I forget stuff I never use so by two weeks after the physics exam (which I passed) I didn't even remember the specific subject.

I've done that too, several times. Except it was in college.
I have some brilliant stories to tell, eheh. >:DSometimes the cramming worked and i'd pull off an A unbelievably. Other times I was doomed and resorted to…..... other... methods :ninja:.
I had no choice okay! >_< Stop staring at me like that. It's impossible to take 8 classes and memorize 10-15 formulas for 4 of the exams. It's ALSO impossible to take 8 classes and have a 2 hour commute. I was on the edge of insanity O_O.
D..Don't judge me ='(
-
I prefer marathoning exams tbh. I build up the foundations of a topic over the year and then cram in all the details in the week before. If I try and remember specific things months before the exam then it'll be completely gone by the time the exam rolls around.
Seems to work 90% of the time.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Just saw on Al Jazeera. "New World Record? Begium has gone 249 days without a government."

I started doing this by the 2nd year, which meant that thankfully bilogy was not included as it was only a first year subject.
Stil, chemistry is a bitch to memorise when:
1. You have no idea what all these terms mean practicaly and the descriptions you are given are only very vague.
2. You have to make calculations based off of these things
3. Your school has no science lab so you could try and grasp the twenty pages of nonsense you are craming into your head through praxis.Physics was a little like that, but even that I could sometimes logicaly back up.
Oh and I may have told you all the horrendous god awfull stupid thing that set my learning session about graphs back a whole day once, because evidently the textbook didn't consider it important to tell you the graph moves oposite to the value of things in the equation (to the minus side when there is a plus in the equation and vice versa).
Seriously, how are you suposed to figure that out ? Oh and that was the trial problem, one which was used to demonstrate the whole subject for the first time…...and they left out that vital little detail.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

End of all bsing right there. :ninja:

OK, is this for real? Is this really Taco Bell's official campaign, or a joke? I'm not sure if this is awesome or awful. (guess it's not really an article, I clicked on the wrong thread, but it works hehe)

Hmmm….look at the rest of the vid if you want, but 1:40 to around 2:44 is interesting to say the least.

My guess is that the Republican and Tea Party are pretty much suicidal by this point.
I don't know how many kids would actually work, though, if this got through. -
'So This is America': Veteran Ray McGovern Bloodied and Arrested At Clinton Speech
As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave her speech at George Washington University yesterday condemning governments that arrest protestors and do not allow free expression, 71-year-old Ray McGovern was grabbed from the audience in plain view of her by police and an unidentified official in plain clothes, brutalized and left bleeding in jail. She never paused speaking. When Secretary Clinton began her speech, Mr. McGovern remained standing silently in the audience and turned his back. Mr. McGovern, a veteran Army officer who also worked as a C.I.A. analyst for 27 years, was wearing a Veterans for Peace t-shirt.
Blind-sided by security officers who pounced upon him, Mr. McGovern remarked, as he was hauled out the door, "So this is America?" Mr. McGovern is covered with bruises, lacerations and contusions inflicted in the assault.source : http://www.commondreams.org/further/2011/02/16-3 (you can see YouTube vid too there)
-
A couple of years ago, he never would have even made it into the speech, but would have been intercepted at the door and either hauled off to a free speech zone a mile away or taken to prison if he refused to leave the premises.
-
Reminds me of when the Kohk brothers pretended to let reporters into their rallies, but they forbade protesters and such.
I'mma just gonna' get stupid emo dramatic here and just ask this question:
Is America rotting away? I mean, I know we've always had problems like this, but…yeah.
