Well that chapter was a bore, usually Kubo at least gives me something to laugh at in relation to his storyline or something..
Felch Discussion Part 4
-
-
This is… I dunno what this anymore, some random gags/slice of life manga? It felt incedibly weird throughout.
Yeah, i don't know either. Kubo is just stalling to keep this thing going for as long as possible.
And the "ominous shadow" is so obviously Chad. -
Back to basics huh? That was refreshing. really feels like manga author brought their equivalent of their "A" game this week.
-
Boring chapter. The foot belongs to Chad.
-
That foot should have his own wiki page.
-
"Everyday life crumbles down!! Who does this omnious shadow belong belong to…!?"
A) Aizen
B) Mullet Aizen
C) Butterflaizen
D) Aizen with the badge
E) Chad followed by Aizennow... choose :ninja:
-
Alright, I'll admit I like the featuring of a certain concept here. Ichigo's older now, and has to deal with more responsibilities than before. This means a tighter schedule, attention to fiscal responsibility, and thinking about the future. These are things I think, thematically, can be played with excellence, especially near the end of a story.
Then Kubo has to make everything feel generic and tedious by putting in a bunch of goofy shit in an effort to seem 'funny'. None of this slapstick crap was natural – every time I saw something like Orihime doing -anything-, I slowly became more and more annoyed by the lack of focus on the actually important narrative that was being built up around our protagonist.
And about that brown/orange-haired lass: am I the only one who finds her attitude... unfitting? Yes, say what you will about HM ruining her, but it was a direction being taken, and one would expect everything that happened there to be followed up in sequential chapters. I didn't see that in the closing chapters of the last arc, and I don't see that now.
Uryuu sameface'd everyone.
This chapter managed to have better pacing than before, and still dragged like a snail.
! FOOOOOOT!
-
If not for what Bleach was for 400 chapters, I'd say this was fun and cute.
Orihime was fun and cute, though.
-
I'm going to take a different stance and make a daring statement:
I actually enjoyed this chapter. I've been getting a feeling from the first arc of the series, and I hope it continues. Of course, Kubo could easily still screw it up later.
Orihime looks really good now, even better than before. I really like her new design, and I like that she is acting like herself again.
-

Well, it's not like anything has been followed up on since the end of Hueco Mundo (Chad, Uryu, Renji, Nel, The Vizards, heck we haven't even seen what happened between Ichigo and Isshin).
-
Orihime looks really good now, even better than before.
I'll say, almost looks like she's Matsumoto-sized now. A year or more does a hell of a job, just look at Nami.
-
Is Orihime not wearing her flower pin any more? I didn't see it anywhere. It is nice to see her being ditzy again after so, so long though.
The chapter was kind of bland, but I much prefer it to the sword-swinging, ''Just as planned'' nonsense of the past, and I hope this mood lasts for at least a bit before we inevitably fall back into it.
And I admit I laughed at Isshin sailing out the window.
-
By god, a foot!? I do not think I will be able to eat until the next chapter comes out. No man alive can do cliffhangers like kubo!!! (also if ya look really close at panel 6 on page 4 all of the bankais we expected to see during the aizen battle were revealed via two shadowy figures whispering in the corner)

It's Chad the forgotten one.
-
I just read the chapter and then… nothing? I felt no emotion towards this chapter and btw that foot was the best cliffhanger in bleach in awhile.
-

yup as he whispers to toshiro's lifeless body, he suffered a sudden heart attack from a build up of "Annoying brat" in his arteries.
-
Yes, I do agree the foot nonsense is ridiculous. Who is it this time? Lol…
-
I just read the chapter and then… nothing? I felt no emotion towards this chapter and btw that foot was the best cliffhanger in bleach in awhile.
It was the reverse for me. I've felt nothing for the past 3 or 4 years but this chapter finally illicited a smile from me. A weak and passing smile but a smile nonetheless. Orihime sliding down from the window wearing that goofy face was the best part of the chapter for me.
-
Was that a bad translation or a guy with glasses just called another guy with glasses, 4 eyes? I though that was a non-glasses thing only.
-
hey….the chapter took me more than 30 seconds to read!
This must be a milestone for Kubo.
-
Maybe it's the fact that this chapter took me a few minutes to read, maybe it's that it had really nothing to do with Soul Society, maybe it's that it sort of reminds of how Bleach used to be, but I somewhat enjoyed this chapter. I honestly didn't feel like this chapter was a waste of life. Excluding the "cliffhanger" it was a somewhat enjoyable chapter with some funny parts.
Eh… -
I enjoyed this chapter a little, it makes me wish Bleach was a slice-of-life manga. These school segments are some of the more entertaining parts.
Except Orihime. Seeing her all cute and goofy feels like getting dirt kicked on my face. It's a massive reminder over how in an arc that seems to be at one point dedicated to rescuing her, she got no character growth whatsoever. She's learned nothing, hasn't gotten stronger as a person, and worse of all I guess her falling for the espada that killed Ichigo got swept under the rug. What a horrible person.
Oh hey, gang fight next chapter. That should be fun.
-
wait a moment, why isn't this chapter painful, where is kubo this was never written by him.
Besides that, I agree with onemoment. I'm not a fan of slice-of-life, but it is the best genre for bleach.
Alright, second not-horrible chapter kubo…let's see If you can keep it up for the next chapter.
Cliffhanger sucked, though. -
I'm not particularly a fan of slice of life so the manga still feels meh to me. Time will tell. You never know Kubo might one day stop his wanking fit and think of the manga he "writes".
-
Orihime was hilarious.
-
@Friend:

he did do a great job with this in the beginning of the series though, with some action mixed in, but it's pretty much what made me fall in love, soul society I became a huge fan hueco mundo felt bad, TBTP was great, then shit hit the fan with the FKT arc that was more than painful to read, and at some point it became fun because it was sooo bad you couldn't take it seriously anymore, like a really really bad horror movie that you find hilarious when it's supposed to be scary (Simon says was hilarious in that aspect, I even bought it because it was so bad, I just can't stop laughing)
-
I felt meh with Bleach to begin then genuinely thought it would become legendary at Soul Society, then for a little while longer it was great, up until volume 25. Then Hueco Mundo happened. I'm in this for the long haul, I am expecting shite but I wouldn't be against the manga if it did improve somehow.
-
i hated this chapter. was SOOO boring. i mean what is ichigo sitting around seeing which club pays him the most to play for them?
then orihime came and tried to be funny, and was just horrid.
and then it just felt like a ripped off chapter of the millions of stories out there were delinquents come to challenge the hero to a fight.
oh but at least that FOOT at the end of the chapter kept me at the edge of my seat /sarcasm
-
Some of you guys are never satisfied. You wanted her to be more ditsy and fun again… here you go.

I agree completely with Smore on this.
Everyone was complaining about the path Bleach was taking, and at least now Kubo is making an attempt to take this series back to what started it off decent. I love Orihime's personality like this - not like the damsel in distress she was in the Arrancar arc.
-
hey i wanted orihime to also be her old fun self again, yet i found her not funny at all this chapter, and it also felt really forced by the author.
-
Then tell me how would be the 'best' procedure to 'return' Orihime to her old self without it looking 'forced'. 'Cause I've seen many posts saying they wish Orihime can return to how she was… and when she does... Still complaints.
It makes me think you guys just complain for the sake of complaining. Her antics in this chapter weren't any different than from the first few volumes. At all. Same exact humor.
So if you liked how she was back then, this should be what you wanted.
I realize Bleach has been shoddy... But when you guys liked something way back when and then declare it garbage now... when it's the same exact thing. Then something is odd.
Unless it's just nostalgia that gets you guys giddy about old Orihime.
-
Just watched the episode. Was not expecting them to actually do a whole recap episode, but at least all the content was the best moments of the first arcs of Bleach before the Arrancar mess. I actually like how they added scenes in between to tie in Aizen's stalking.
I have a feeling at least the first half of next episode will be more flashbacks. They will probably add stuff about Aizen's rebellion and then show shit from the Grimmjow and Ulquiorra fight.
-
That was kind of boring . I mean , a japanese version of Glen the bully , that's all Kubo can come up with ?
Also Orihime's shtick this chapter wasn't that funny . Maybe because I'm not japanese , but the word puns were rather boring .
-
And so Ichigo, the man who's spiritual power rose to extreme heights and was subsequently taken away, continues to be some sort of demigod in terms of physical strenght. Makes perfect sense!
While it's nice to see old characters again, everything is less funny, worse paced and more samy-looking than it was at the series beginnings. And even though he's become scowly faced again, these chapters make me wonder if Ichigo EVER had a personality.
-
What a dull chapter.
-
these last two chapters have been weird while its better than the aizen abomination and the whole butterfly comdom thing i feels kind of forced like hes trying to capture what the manga once had but not acheiving it it all felt kind of forced
-

I think it's one of arlong parks qualities to shit on everything, it makes it hard to discuss lesser mangas like naruto and bleach when you want to say things positive but it's actually what I like about it, I like how people can find the mistakes the authors made and blatantly point them out, and my favorite part are the gifs and pics people make to make fun of them, I think we need a thread for funny gifs + pics that people like gecko make

It's never a good thing to be too biased.
-
The thing is, it's such a clumsy transition back into how Bleach used to be. That, and it's old Bleach minus the actual hollow fights plus even more blank panels.
Forgive me if I'm not too pleased with it.
-
For me the problem is that if this new arc had happened right after the first one(heck even after the SS arc would work) it would be good, but after the huge Arrancar arc this chapters feel very strage and not good.
-
Ok. Since he's not quiting, let's tell Kubo to go back to how he did the Arrancar arc, then.
-
I admit I don't mind Kubo trying to recapture what he had before but…he can't. The problem isn't just the slice-of-life stuff doesn't seem like much and does seem rather dull, it's also simply that he just has become too used to his cinematic structure of making his manga like an anime storyboard that even the slow stuff feels like it! When the series attempted to do this sort of thing way back in the beginning, Kubo still knew how to balance things. Now the storyboard-design he's been doing for way too long that makes his fights take forever...hold back on actual story from happening as well. If I were Kubo, I would have just ended Bleach and gotten into movie storyboarding...or storyboarding this next arc for Pierrot for an anime version...than kept it going in WSJ.
And the anime...well, yeah, this is the point we find out about Aizen's stalking activities but it's both clever and ridiculous that they literally show us all of Aizen's stalking during SS intermixed with clips of stuff. Heck, even the early episodes of the anime look better than what's on the air now.
-
It's never a good thing to be too biased.
agreed but there hilarious when they get on a role, idk it's not really a great place to talk about naruto and bleach if you don't want biased opinions, but I'm guessing things like naruto forums would be the same just opposite, idk what to tell you just keep your own opinion and have listening to their rants which most often have really good points too, it's best to find and talk with friends outside the internet if you want good talks about naruto and bleach (although my friends tell me I shit on them to much too)
-
Bullies. How classic.
-
And one of them is fat .
I'd almost be tempted to say it's a black guy if we were in Soul Society .
-
Read the chapter.
Feh, not too much action. I'm glad to see Orihime's back to being her comedic self, but I was guess I was hoping for more info on the new villain.
And bullies? Aw come on, we've seen Ichigo fight bare-fisted in early Bleach and win and this is a shonen. He'll wipe the floor with them, geez…..
Everyone above me said it best. The transition back into early Bleach's style just seems ......dull. But this arc's only began, so I won't be so critical and just wait for next week.
-
Next week Ishida will have just finished beating them and the foot person will adress Ichigo from off screen .
-
Well, it's true: You can never go back.
The closest comparison I can think of is Yu Yu Hakusho, where after the final arc Yusuke briefly went back to detective work, and it was jarring. A lot of shonen start in 'neutral' before the serious arcs begin, but I can't think of one that's successfully returned to its relatively carefree beginnings. You can't go back.
I'd also like to know if this chapter was funny for Japanese kids. I think this one just didn't translate at all.
