Honestly, I question your fan hood of OP if you can't appreciate the subtle nuances that Oda creates for his fan. However, then again everyone isn't going to get it.
ZOMG!!! I didn't love Skypea, so my fan hood has to be questioned.

i wrote this in the 580 thread, still would like to see something like this:
I would like to see something like this go down personally:
Sanjii: NAMI-SWAAAAAAAN, ROBIN-CHWAAAAAAAAAN!
(Chopper beats Sanjii to both)
Chopper: ROOBIIIIIIN, NAMMMIIII (crying)
(Sanjii, dejected in the corner)
Zoro: Shitty cook, get a hold of yourself…
Sanjii: Oi oi oi, who you callin a shitty cook, marimo brain?
(Sanjii and Zoro fight)
(Nami hits both of them)
Nami: Don't fight you too, when we are finally back together!
Chopper: SO SCARRRRYYY!!!
(Robin laughs, Sanjii is love eyed)
Franky: Orange chan (Nami) is SUUUUUUUPPPPERRRRRR!!!!!
Brooke: This is so funny, your making me laugh to death. Oh. But I'm already dead.
YOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO!!!!Usopp: I'm getting "everybody is together again" sickness
...or something like that.
Forgot to say Skull Joke! at the end of Brooks sentence

I'd be surprised if something like this doesn't show up:

Sanji: goes dejected in the corner

Skypiea arc contains crucial hints:
http://apforums.net/showpost.php?p=323690&postcount=5
Without golds acquired from Skypiea, SHs would have not been able to get the Thousand Sunny bulit.
@Chopper:
comin from the one with skypeia zoro as his pic
its just some random googled zoro pic, i couldnt care less about my avatar :S
zoro isnt even my favorite character.
We aren't saying Skypeia wasn't vital to the story, some of us just thought it was long as hell (for One Piece standards anyways) and kinda got boring around the end of the arc.
It wasn't as long as Arabasta, to be fair.
@S.C.:
It wasn't as long as Arabasta, to be fair.
I'm almost sure Skypeia was slightly longer.
But in either case, I read through Alabasta after it was finished and I read Skypeia weekly. So it could be more of my perception than pacing or length.

Now there's irony!!
and is this now just a discussion on skypiea? We have a thread for that, only it's kind of dead at the moment… So is anyone curious as to why Gedatsu was the only priest to get a cover story though? Seriously what happened to the others? I doubt they'd die, but I'm wondering if Oda will address that at any point. It could have just been that he had other characters that held precedence over those guys for a cover story but it is curious...
well he's the only priest who left skypiea to the blue sea.
and he's the only priest who had some humor in his character which helped changing him.

Honestly, I would say the same about Arabasta. I thought it was ridiculously slow, boring, and far longer than it should have been.
Maybe that's just me idkkkkkkkk
No I feel the same, all that chasing after crocodile took long, overall I liked arabasta but it could be shorter
^this.
Somehow I get the feeling we can't put too much trust into everything Oda has said over the years now.
Something changed with the death of Ace, and now, with a timeskip of 2 years, well, all bets are off. Oda may possibly do somethings he said before he'll never do. And this only makes me pretty exited, because anything can happen now, there are no rules (for now anyways).., its a new start, for the Strawhats, and for the readers..
oh no, just listening to the sound of this, already makes me excited, but for others it may be a bad omen for what may come ;/. There will be a lot of changes for the strawhats.
I had a dream last night about how the Strawhats will look after the two years. One Piece is invading my dreams!
Now there's irony!!

If I recall, the other priests were banished to a desert cloud. Probably wouldn't make for a very exciting cover story.

So are they just going to die now or what? Which is exactly what will happen if they never manage to escape somehow. or maybe I'm overthinking. Maybe Oda just thinks the rest of the priests are losers who are not worthy of a coverstory. shrugs oh well. Shura is decent though, even if he did get one-hit KO'd by Wyper.

The Reject Dial is nothing to scoff at. It KILLED Enel before he restarted his heart. Though I suppose Shura's "fight" mainly just served to hype the dial, it's still not a sign of weakness to be one-shot'ed by it. If anything, if Shura survived where "God" Enel did not, that'd be impressive.
I don't think Shura gets enough love around here. Damn, I never realized that before! He survived something that killed GOD. 0__o I would love more backstories for the priests but it seems doubtful that they'll be playing any more important roles in the future. Oda could still bring Eneru back in the reeeally distant future, but the priests wouldn't be a necessary component.
even if Wiper inexplicably survives the recoil twice…
Three times:
-Shura
-Ener
-the beanstalk
Three times:
-Shura

D'oh, forgot the beanstalk! Damn Wiper is either one tough bastard or has "Oda can't bring himself to kill me" plothax. Wasn't just 2 recoils supposed to be deadly?
Actually even just one is supposed to be deadly.
I think that was the 'Oda can't bring himself to kill me' plotlax.
Actually even just one is supposed to be deadly.
Wiper is either yonkou level endurance or Oda really should have left the deadly recoil line out when hyping that dial. I vote the latter.
In other related news, I feel like I have to reread Skypiea now.
skypia is prolly my fave arc so far anime wise. beautiful story
sure the start is a bit slow but in the middle the pace quickens alot and becomes a master piece
You guys, be reasonable. It's probably only deadly if a normal human uses it, like Conis or pre-skip Usopp. I don't think Oda was unreasonable with letting Wiper survive them all with serious damage.

It was stated to have deadly recoil for deadly damage though and the damage killed "God", so the recoil should have been pretty damn brutal even to a warrior like Wiper. But he scrapes by with the "bandaids fix everything" clause rather than any crippling effect. Only the second and third times weakened him and only just enough to plotignore him rather than anything lasting/crippling/deadly-as-was-stated.
Also lets not forget how many times he got a blast from Enel..or got a damage while fighting(like when he looked at Laki and got attacked by a axe-dial)
I always thought he took so far the most damage ever in that arc..
Yeah even more then Zoro in that arc..and that guy is the master of getting injured..i mean in every fucking arc.
Only Zoro was maybe so far more injured after the fight with Kuma.
(Most exhausted was Luffy after Lucci fight i guess)
I'm guessing with the emphasis on Calgara's bloodline, his descendants all bred with the strongest warriors warriors in the tribe.. and he trained his ass off since birth.. so it's not too surprising.
Luffy took the most damage in Thriller Bark…it was only transferred to Zoro and almost killed him. Just goes to show you what Luffy deals with every time.
Luffys pain + Zoros injuries from before are more then just Luffys pain
There are 2 things Wiper and Zoro have in common.
1. They're both demons.
2. They have insane endurance.
Some people are just built differently. I bet if Zoro used the reject dial 3 times he wouldn't die either. Plus he's too important to the storyline…>_>

pre-skip usopp??????????? huh
how do you know he will be that strong

Usopp FC demands a retraction! [does not know any other member of [I]Usopp eFfCe] in Alabasta he took a 4 ton bat fast swing to the head. He's more or less Mugiwara Kaizoku-dan's most durable member.
@Cuddles:
Oda confirmed that Usopp is destined to stay the weakest of all the Strawhats.
Now Usopp learning something that none of the other Strawhats can do, that's a different story entirely.
He'll be the weakest, but never unneeded.
Alright people
raises fist in the air
ONE MONTH!!
Nice oda confirmed he was does it make sense nami will be stronger than him? He is being trained by a power house on that food island, did you also see how fat ussopp got?
if he burns those calories and trains he will have lean muscle in two years, yeah oda is going to have him the weakest, he will probably push sanji out of his place…
Usopp will learn a lot including h2h fighting from that guy so he is fine.
What is the expected date for spoilers?
@Kuso:
I hope One Piece is still…One Piece. No One Piece Z or New World Chronicles and stuff. Just One Piece would be good.
And Oda better complete the crew dammit! Been waiting too long for this to happen...and it hasnt happened yet!
Vivi… just watch ;/. That is oda's answer since he cares that much she will come back into play.
I really doubt that Oda chose to take a four week vacation now as a coincidence. Also, after Luffy's "taking a break" line and the awesome last shot of the hat, it would be silly to tack on a chapter of exposition.
IMO, the momentous, Chapter 600 occasion isn't the timeskip, but the Straw Hat reunion. 598 and 599 will probably have the crew leaving the respective training grounds (perhaps giving a tease about their new powers) and building up the reader's anticipation.
No 598 and 599 should be how much the world has changed towards the end of 599 start showing straw hats, save luffy for last on chapter 600 when they reunite
598 should be longer than the average chapter.
This idea has been indoctrinated into the very depths of my mind, and somehow I find myself thinking I'll be disappointed if it's any less than 45 pages…
WHY and HOW did this get stuck in my mind!? It's probably going to be the standard 19...

unfortunately I have the same thought process
i keep thinking its ok oda will personally make it up to me by having a ridiculously long chapter to give me more juicy details to speculate on
It'd be nice for 20 something pages but 40 + or even 50 is ridiculous and too high of an expectation. That's a 1st chapter/one shot's worth of work just to reintroduce the readers to the OP world 2 years later. Highly unlikely but would be a gift.
Only way I see something like that happening is if an editor suggests it, Oda is fine with it and the main goal is try to recoup the losses for the drop in sales this past month lol.
@Zik:

Oda would probably do it out of sheer guilt.
Thanks for clarifying. then at the very least Franky is included when Oda said that. I'm still sad that Brook doesn't have very many chances to show off his strength though. He's not living up to his nickname as much as I would like.
That us what adding crew members does, i do not think the strawhats need anymore crew, nope not at all. This is it the cream of the crop, if the strawhats get stuck with someone for a while ok, but the current crew is all they need, even if vivi comes back… I included her since Oda cares so much about her.
Luffy already said he wants 10 crew members, excluding himself, so there should be two more that are going to join. It just won't happen right away.
I'm still hoping for all 11 strawhats by the time they get to the 'new world'.
Although we would need 2 members in about 2-3 arcs.
Still the first 7 were generally gathered within every 2 arcs(Sanji-chopper is the exception) and then they got Brook in the arc right after Franky after a long break of no new members. We had a long break now again so hopefully 2 members can join pretty quickly.
When has Oda every publicly said something regarding OP and then just changed his mind?
To be fair he did indirectly say they would lose the Going Merry in skypiea, and then changed his mind to finish it later
Edit: I do still think Usopp will be the weakest even though that statement is vague. I mean is he weaker than Nami? If i never heard that statement I would say no.
I think it would be really boring if we get every single crew member before the New World. just think what kind of interesting people will be over there!
I can only assume we're not going to have too much of a delay before the Strawhats head off to Fishmen Island. arc-wise, it hasn't been that long since Brook joined.

I believe all Oda actually said was "This year a Strawhat will die." He never stated a specific arc as far as I know.
I think there will be a quick showdown to get the ship back to show off their new skills and then 2 volumes of FI, then New World.
I would personally not like that. Why the rush to show off thier abilities straight away? It would ruin the suspense and surprise of thier new skills before they even get into major battles in the future.
2 volumes means around 20 chapters…I would like more considering the hype.

Okay I'm corrected. But I do beleive merry was'nt lost that year.
