on the other hand, against a non df, haki user (albeit a powerful one, rayleigh), his speed was matched. moot as far as the top job. it looks like the real fight was between absolute and moral justice, and of course which serves the superiors better.

caribou's reaction to luffy this chapter "strawhaaaaat!!" is different to his reaction to the entire crew when he found he was alone on their ship "if i play it cool, i can take them out one by one". i wonder if he watched the fight.

poor caribou, with haki, this won't be much of a treasure 'hunt'.

ok, mangareader's "but in the upper echelons[..]support for Aokiji[..]" was weird, but i feel their translation feels more like natural speech, overall.

most serious antagonists have the "steal/cancel powers/abilities/skills" thing. (or bosses who take credit for other's work, lol) bleach is NOT an example i want to quote, lol; tobi and orochimaru—naruto, kuroro—hunter x hunter. bb would do this to become a serious threat.
