No, unless the manga confirms them somehow in the future.

I wonder how they'll change it when we find out what happened to them later

To me it's like that "Ace in Alabasta" thing. Manga shows Ace briefly meeting with Luffy; Anime extends so that Ace gets more screentime and stays with the crew for a while. In the end, the anime showed what the manga did, but padded it a lot with meaningless subplot. So, in essence, some of the things of those episodes may have some info from Oda, but the anime guys are essentially padding things so that they have a story to tell without revealing anything really new.
And, if in the end some of the anime developments are not supported in by the manga, the anime guys can just add more padding to fill the dots. For instance, if the shadow in Zoro's story is indeed a single swordsman, the anime guys can just make him appear and defeat the ape-like creatures from the episode… and then things proceed like in the manga. Just an example.
-
Did Oda have any hand in the "filler" episodes about the whereabouts of the crew?
The anime seemed to provide a lot more info than the cover stories did.
-
Most likely not since some of them were clearly contradicting what we saw in the Oda's very own title pages.
-
soooooooooooooooooooo…... don't yell at me please because I'm sure this has been debated before but were those episodes considered canon?
They're filler. As shown by Robin's more or less completely ignoring the cover spreads. (aside from revolutionaries.)
Shame cus the bit when she escaped was the only thing I was looking forward. Trust the anime to let me down. AGAIN.
-
Nami, Robin and Sanji are likely to read newspapers. Nami buys them regularly, actually. Plus, the news are probably being talked about everywhere; even the others may have heard about it.
Aside from what Nami is already aware of, I don't think she knows of what's happening down on the blue sea unless the news birds happen to deliver there. I'm fairly certain that the Skypieans didn't know of what was happening down in the blue sea during that arc, so I don't really see a reason for other Sky inhabitants to know of the war down below.

Each Strawhat will probably hear the news as soon as they reach Sabaody (or any other inhabitated place in the blue seas). You're assuming that Nami's stranded in the sky, which is not the case, since Weatheria sells weather service to islands in the blue sea (Nami's coverstory).
-
I think that's why Oda put her there. Sanji busy protecting his ass and Robin is probably like a sponge amongst the revolutionaries but she's most likely to know out of the rest of the SHs.
Sure they'll find out on SA if they haven't on their way there but by then could already be reunited and Luffy could break the news to them or completely try to hard to be upbeat and not make it a hot topic.

Ah edited it out that part about he possibly being on her way to Sabaody. Aside from that I was actually under the impression that they were selling services to other sky islands. There was grass and flowers on Weatheria, so I figured there was probably grass and flowers on other sky islands well. It didn't even occur to me that they were doing business with people on the blue sea.

JEBUS CHRUST
we're getting closer to the SH reunionplease god, let Usopp stay obese
JEBUSSSSSS
-
Since we seem to be around 2 and half months away from the reunion, I will be stating my Nami prediction again.
Nami will understand how to recreate the atmosphere found in the sky islands down in the blue sea. She will have Usopp incorporate his unusable Milky Dial into her Climatact and she will be able to create clouds solid enough to walk on.
Add that to the fact Oda likes Dragon Ball, and we will see Nami riding a cloud, if for a brief moment.
-

I always figured that it would just be a temporary thing that the cloud dials don't work in the blue sea and that sooner or later when Oda thinks the time is right a way how it will work will be implemented. Your suggestion would seem like a plausible explenation.
Add that to the fact Oda likes Dragon Ball, and we will see Nami riding a cloud, if for a brief moment.
I always expected that she'd use it in an Iceman way but while riding on the waver.

Still wondering what Heracle did to that plant when it tried to eat Ussop. We also saw him throw a spear, and it was steaming when it killed the giant bug. Not sure what exactly he did. I'm reluctant to believe it was haki. But it makes me wonder if Ussop will learn to use a different weapon other than his sling-shot. A spear may also be nice, but it would mean he'd fight in a totally different manner than what we're used to. Not that he really had a method. Anyways, and another thing. The forest of gluttony forces me to believe that it is a good place for one to learn how to control one's self. To be learn to be moderate and have self control. Don't really know how this will help Ussop. Maybe this will help him grow in some way, or help him fight in a manner that is similar to Heracle.
Sorry to change subject, but Ussop's growth interests me the most out of all the SH's.

i think i know why kuma sent Franky to vega punks island .. Everyone things he did it to help Franky get a power boost. But i think he sent him there because he is the only person in the crew that is smart enough and have enough exp in the world beside vega to make a cyborg like they are. So not only he wants him to upgrade he want him to learn the weakness of the kuma clones and his own body to be able to beat them and to retrieve kumas old mind once again. Freeing him for he can go join the Rev army once again…
So far there has only been two true cyborgs franky and kuma.. Odds are there isnt many people out there that can do it.. And seeing that these two are under the orders outlaws of the world... hell franky is the one person who shown making his own body in to a cyborg.
So my prediction is franky finding out the weakness and how to retrieve kumas mind once again kuma will stay undercover as a mindless robot till the next major war... -
why did you guys move my thread here that has nothing to do with the crew getting together …
-
Yeah, should have moved to "Theories that don't deserve their own thread" thread.
-
Well now after the chapter is out… Several weeks have passed already and it doesn't seem as the SHs, besides Nami and maybe, learned anything new.
Sanji and Zoro just want to go and don't want to train with Mihawk or Iva
Robin is just chilling
Chopper and Usopp no clue
and Brook is kidnapped.Oda showed nothing... So I think he will first reveal it in the next fights and it will be nothing we predicted. No okama Kempo or whatever. That's why he isn't showing any hint for most of the SHs.

Except for the fact that Sanji was probably training for 3 weeks, and Zoro was most likely training by fighting the monkeys for roughly the same time. One Piece isn't like Naruto, where everyone needs hammy down moves. Usopp is certainly training as well.

I haven't doubted that they will learn something… So please read my post. For most of the SHs have no clue what they will learn and the current stories of them gave us nothing new.
In the beginning all lot of us say oh there is a unknown swordsmen who will teach Zoro = Not really
Same for Sanji = Oh he will learn Okama Kempo = after this chapter not really.
All of them just want go the hell to Luffy and showed nothing from learning something on their islands. Tha't why I said... most likely Oda won't gave us any hints what they learned (cuz it was off-screen) and it will be something completely different as we predict for each of them (besides Nami and Franky)
Peronally I like that we can't predict what they will learn and it will be a big suprise. It won't be a suprise and somehow boring if they appear and use stuff all of us predicted or already have seen like Okama Kempo or whatever.
I'm really looking forward to see the necht fights of them
-
I'm also curious as to how the anime people plan to connect the stuff they made up to what actually happens now that it's been revealed. They made it seem like Sanji willingly became gay, so now they're gonna have to have another episode to show how he snaps out of it.
-
So what order do you predict the strawhats will reunite? I think it'll be:
1. Chopper
2. Robin
3. Nami
4. Franky
5. Sanji
6. Brook
7. Usopp
8. Zoro -
They made it seem like Sanji willingly became gay, so now they're gonna have to have another episode to show how he snaps out of it.
Not "willingly", he was brainwashed. Still, his and even Franky's stories were kinda fucked up by the anime. I find it weird, considering most of others, especially Nami, Usopp and Brook's did fit quite well with the manga.

Oh come on, you have to at least appreciate how funny gentleman Franky was.
-
who think that Iva will turn Sanji in to women force him to wear a dress and return him to normal when they meet SH again
-
Looks like we'll need to reopen the discussions here. The strawhats are definitely not reuniting soon and are going on their own journey/training for some time. So far, sanji and chopper will try to get stronger and improve on their skills (cooking and medicine).
-
Well here why I think Zoro and Sanji will learn haki as well now…
!
Look at the upper right panel… Usopp is shocked like always and cofused... but Sanji and Zoro are looking as if they have sensed something...
And we know both are fighting experts and maybe they will get some clues about it during their hardcore training

well yea pretty sure we all thought it back then, but if the coby scene wasn't confirmation for zoro and sanji i don't know what is.
i mean all vice admiral or higher class use haki and to think that sanji and zoro wouldn't learn it is a joke.

And maybe even usopp. But like Marguarite he will strenght his weapons with it^^
But those 2 are for sure… I don't think they have to be even VA level cuz most of AL can do it as well.
-
Haki will eventually become necessary for the whole crew.

If anything than he willmix it up but…
!

Maybe Sanji will start wearing dresses instead of suits. XD

Haki will eventually become necessary for the whole crew.
doubtful
for sures:
Luffy
Sanji
ZoroMaybe's:
Usopp (only imbue his bullets with it)Possible, though don't see need for it:
Franky (if upgrades big like Kuma with harder steel, lasers or more powerful weapons ect, i don't see need for haki)
Chopper (if perfects rumble, possible awakening, monster point working, ect. i don't see need for haki then)
Brook (could imbue to hit logias or something, but otherwise i see him going more into awesome music than the swordplay. so maybe haki improves music effect?)
Nami (i think her weapons and new weather stuff and smarts are good enough, not sure what haki could bring to her)
Robin (again not really sure what haki could help her with, she is just kind of a choke hold, clutcher more than some kind of str.)So really its just top 3 that i see and possibly usopp. Though based on usopps recent attacks with huge birds and shit that are element based i have a hard time seeing those being imbued somehow. so maybe only zoro luffy and sanji get haki.
chopper/franky/nami/brook i see more of just improving their own UNIQUEness of the rumble/cyborg/weather/music instead of adding this haki. and robin just doesn't seem like it fits either to her fighting style

Oh… Wait a moment, Haki isn't just for offense. The boa sisters used it mainly for defense and avoiding attacks, so the other crewmates could learn those styles of haki...
I think the defensive techniques of haki that Sentoumaro used would really suit Chopper. And the avoinding techniques could suit Brook for example.

i just don't want all of a sudden everyones uniqueness to become nonexistent and all relying on the all powerful haki.
brook and chopper are super unique already with their being skeleton, music attacks and the rumble ball, why do we need to be seeing this "oh i predicted shit or deflected due to haki" We have our super agile skeleton already with having like no weight and running on water for dodging, and we have our guard point for defending.
these are unique things, if they defended or dodged now due to haki then those disapear and they are just a goofy looking sentamaru or boa sisters.
we wilil see these defense from luffy/sanji/zoro such as dodging and predicting and defending. Let us keep our other members uniqueness and not become a huge haki orgy crew.
I want to see chopper go guard point instead of seeig him stick his hands out all sumo like to block. i want to see someones sword pierce brook through his non existent stomach and a skull joke over him predicting and dodging. I want to see franky take a punch with his steel body and the person go WTF instead of a haki block. ect.
-
Haki doesn't take nothing that you have. It just makes you stronger… They're aiming to be the greatest crew ever. How can they surprass Shanks crew, that has hundread of members, perhaps thousand of allies, with just 9 dudes? Shanks crew seems to have everyone used to haki, at least they don't faint while their captain walks like the fodders from Whitebeard's.

I don't think so… My toughts is that just the fodder went down. Everyone with will, with a dream, could take it. IMO. In fact you can see one of the guys on Law's crew almost went down, but he could take it (with much effort).

Rayleigh was seeing the strawhats… Why should he know about Law and Co and they are good pirates?
And really Usopp should have fall down first if he aimed at all. Same for Camie

No, Ussop and Camie have dreams, which supports my theory. He aimed at Law's crew and none went down, FACT. Same could be said about Strawhats, or do you think they're inferior to the almost-fillers of Heart Pirates?

you can't honestly believe this do you?
so if a 2 year old was swinging the sword to kill ace during the war as long as he had a dream of being a vet one day he would have survived it?
-

I didn't meant in that way, as a dream I say a really strong will, something that makes you live. Like an ambition. Which by the way is one of the translations of Haki.
Why do you think there's people that don't go down? Because they got muscles? Because they're strong? YOU CAN'T HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT. It's because they have a drive.
-
Sammsy give Oda some credit. Even if the entire crew did learn how to utilize Haki in some way, he has already very clearly shown that it isn't some magic end all way to beating anyone and everyone.
The Boa sisters with a lifetime of knowledge about Haki could not beat Luffy in Gear 2. Though they could predict him, he was too fast, though they could deflect in time Luffy was to strong and went right through their shields. And it was great knowing that is what the future can still hold. I think Oda set it up just right with that scene.
Now don't get me wrong I do completely understand the fear of Chopper using Haki block instead of Guard Point, but chances are that will not happen. Oda knows how to keep his main characters unique even after all this time, and still lets everyone shine like the sun. Even if 2 or more of the crew got a similiar type you can bet Oda would know how to keep them as unique as ever. But my main point is that they will hardly rely soley on Haki to beat everyone, that is just nuty thinking.
I could see everyone except Nami gaining it actually. I just can't imagine how her moves wouldn't work against anyone regardless, unless she can imbue her lightning storms with Haki to hurt Luffy. But after Brook and Usopp trying their darndest to get Kizaru off of Zoro I bet they have similiar feelings as Chopper. They do not want to let such a thing happen again. That goes for most everyone i'm sure.
The 3 Admirals seemed to use a form of defensive Haki all at once, showing that they do have some similiar skills. But I bet in no way has anyone thought "aw crap they are going to be doing that for the rest of the series".
Just trying to reasure you that when the majority of the crew eventually does learn Haki you can bet everyone will still be as unique as ever. -

i was telling a poster why i don't want those guys like he said to get those techniques. i don't believe oda woudl give them those techniques.
if say chopper had that blocking technique, what would be the point of him having it if all he did was use guard point? so obviously if chopper got that technique he would use the superior technique, if it is still guard point, then no point in giving him the haki guard. if the superior technique is haki guard, then as i fear chopper loses one thing that is unique to him his guard point.
-
Why can't Chopper just use haki to strengthen his guard point?
