So I was rereading some chapters, and I think that Calico Yorki, brooke's former captain, is still alive, in his 80's. I think that he might be the seventh shichibukai. Why bother showing him getting a higher bounty and all that jazz if he isn't going to play a role later on. I am certain he will play a role sooner or later, but do you think he's gonna be strong or just a lost old man?
Calico Yorki

intresting theory. could very well be he's still alive and kicking around dsomewhere. don't think he'd be the last shichibukai though, but some other high player. it is definitely a Oda thing to do. didn't he plan for brooke from the beginning of the manga? to tie in with laboon and all. he prob didnt have specifics but a very good outline of what was to come. so ayone with a name and decent screen time will probably have their moment. especially what's his face from the island of strange animals.

He's dead.
16 painful deaths.
-
@Yan:
He's dead.
16 painful deaths.
I doubt it. why send him away from the ship right before the rest of the crew gets massacred? What?
-
Why bother showing him getting a higher bounty
To show that Brook had one back then, and that he wasn't more wanted then the captain.
-
No.
Just no.
Stop trying.
This would be one of the most pointless things that could possibly be done.
Yorki got sick. Maybe he lived, maybe he died. Maybe he lived on only to succumb to natural causes. Regardless, his (short) role in the story is in the past.
It would be silly to even try and bring him back, honestly.
-
gorlom, that makes sense, but I still think he will play a role later on.
-
If he's still alive, I would think he would've revisited Laboon by now.
-
I doubt it. why send him away from the ship right before the rest of the crew gets massacred? What?
残念がもう死んだよ。
すまん。
-
yep. he's dead.
dead dead dead
-
Wow, I thought this was going to be a discussion about the disease he succumbed to, but I was sadly mistaken.

I thought he picked up the same thing nami had.
-
-
Well, at least no one suggested that he had some tie to Jewelry Bonney.
-
what does すまん mean?
Slang take on Sumimasen. Sorry (to burst your bubble).
The 16 deaths thing has to do with it being necessary to input 16 characters, at least, to post on AP.
-
@_Meh_:
Well, at least no one suggested that he had some tie to Jewelry Bonney.
if any of the supernovas have ties, it's likely to be apoo. Though I don't think so.
edit: nevermind, I just looked up calico jack and now I understand where you're coming from.

While Oda loves to toy with death, it's very clear that Yorki was sick and was dying. He was sent through the Calm Belt. Why would he still be alive? Oda's not that stupid to pull that trick.
-
MAYBE this could happen….MAYBE.....but it's not worth an entire thread....
The 'Theories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread' Thread exists FOR A REASON! -
He's dead, unfortunately, but the reason that Oda had him leave the crew before the massacre was probably to start a family or return to his family before he died.
If he's related to anyone that we know in the One Piece World, though, it's pretty damn obvious who that person is, yo.
And for the record, I'm betting the last Shichibukai is the guy in my sig.
-
no the other guy is luffy's other grand father.
-
No the seventh Shichibukai is actually Dadan who's Luffy's mother and Franky's long lost sister.

What is the name of your magazine and how may I subscribe?
-
No this C. Yorki cannot be a Shichi Bukai; his name does not have an animal in it.
-
I think he may be referenced, but I don' think we'll see him agian
-
Psssh, that nigga is dead. End of topic
-
May be he lived long enough to have kids, maybe if he is alive he is unable to be a pirate (if he survived, he may be been cripple by the illness). But all we know is he is suppose to have died.
If he is alive, we will either never find out or won't find out until someone pops up and say "hey, that was my pop!".

Forgive me for arguing in favour of such a retarded theory, but his animal theme could be a cat.

Plus Blackbeard has no animal.
-
He's dead as a door nail, nuff said!
-
I think that he sailed away before the massacre to show that Brook was once a captain. Also it could be the source of the rumor that the Rumba Pirates fled the Grand Line.
-
@Fire Fist:
Which, if it's anyone, will be the guy in your avatar.
Hmmm… That would be intereasting...
-
Alive right now? Doubt it. But will we hear his name again and could he possibly have some relevance in the future? You better believe it matey! Too many pages and hype in the flashback devoted to a guy who we purposefully never saw perish with the crew as his future was up in the air as he sailed away. And because of page 5 in chapter 488. Dude's story ain't entirely done yet.
-
Hmmm… That would be intereasting...
I'm fairly convinced they're father-son. They're modeled after the same pirate, Jack "Calico" Rackham, they're both have the same mannerisms, and… look here:
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/1/09/
Lower left, where Shanks is laughing.
And here:
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/487/16/
Upper Left, Yorki laughing at Brooke.
Their mannerisms are very similar.
-

So are Edward Newgate and Marshal Teach also father and son (In the real sense not the all my crew are my sons kinda way he got going).
And about the laughing… doesn't brook laugh the very same way whenever he makes a skulljoke?
-
A lot of them laugh that way, I agree. It's no real definitive proof. The only connection I could think of is that Calico is a hair color or hair style, something to that effect, and Shanks's epithet is hair related as well, but again, that means very little, if not nothing.
If we're going to get into this whole area, then Lucky Roux and Bonney are related as well because they were both introduced eating a big chicken leg. And who could forget Brook and Ao Kiji being related because they're both tall, have afros, and hit on Nami?
-
I remember when people thought Brook was Aokiji
Oh speculation

Really? I only remember the theories that said they were related?
Do you remember where this theory was posted?
-

No, but there's a big connection between the two. They were given those names for a reason. And for all we know, Shirohige and Kurohige COULD be father-son. I doubt it, but you never know with Oda. I mean, Garp should tell you that anything goes in family relationships.
And about the laughing… doesn't brook laugh the very same way whenever he makes a skulljoke?
No, Shanks and Yorki's laugh is very distinct compared to anyone else.
-
No, Shanks and Yorki's laugh is very distinct compared to anyone else.
Please do explain. In what way?
-
I think he's alive and will play a roll in the near future I mean why keep him alive and not just declare he's dead
-
I mean why keep him alive and not just declare he's dead
Because Oda needed something to start the rumor that the Rumbar pirates left the grand line and Brook couldn't possibly know if Yorki died after parting ways with the crew. So Brook can't have that in his flahsback.
-

you are an idiot

I personally wonder if he is alive. It might make for something interesting later on.
Still, something tells me he's not gonna be seen again. He might be referenced though.
-
Guys, I laugh like Angelina Jolie, does that mean that we are related?
-

The reason Yorki was shown getting a bounty is because that's what happens with pirates. They do things that aren't considered good by the Marines and World Governments' standards and bounties are issued for their capture. I mean this is simple stuff, connecting things that you're misconstruing to forcibly make "sense" doesn't make this idea any less…let's just say dumb.
I'll put it this way:
So you think that Yorki, the one who along with some other crew members with an "incurable" disease for all we know: made it through the Calm Belt(which is packed with Seakings way way bigger than the ship we saw him sail off in), found his way back to land, got stronger, and is now a Shichibukai? Please read this and tell me if you think it's still plausible.
EDIT: http://www.apforums.net/showthread.php?t=12012
There's a reason the above thread exists.

If he did manage to find a doctor, or recovered on his own, yes it is possible I would suppose. It would make for a good plot twist to say the least.
However one of the Shichibukai? I don't know, considering there's only unknown Shichibukai. It is possible, however I would consider it more likely that is not, seeing as most of the Shichibukai are more 'evil' than good. And obviously, Yorki was very fun loving and good natured from what we've seen.
But that aside, I suppose it could be possible he's the last Shichibukai. -
I find it hard to believe that FFA came up with a theory for Yorki and Shanks… And forgot the other connection; Shanks and his crew know "Bink's Sake". But then, one could argue all the old pirates know it anyway.
-
yeh i dont believe that he will still live kicking :getlost: since it's been 50 years since the day he is departing from his crew….. and as it said he left with half the crew coz they got infected by the disease.....
-

He already had a doctor on his ship. he said the disease was incureble.
