It started with the last few pages of 552 of ended of few pages before the end of 553. So yeah, I guess it could be considered a "chapter"

Ok episode. Started off really slow, but picked up pace later.
Got to say, Akainu's voice is great and Mihawk's new one is a good replacement for Aono, in my opinion.
-
Isn't the voice of Akainu the same voice as Don Kreig. Or am I Wrong?

No, it's the same as Krieg.
Kinda a huge step-up role for the VA. XD
-
The same VA as Krieg and also the same VA for Kenpachi in Bleach. :ninja:
-
Good episode. Hope the war stays strong.
-
The Simulcast takes forever to load for me. I have a decent connection, it just always freezes. Does anyone else have this problem? I don't want to have to watch it in lower quality on a 3rd party website.
Funi's video player never works for me either
Ever consider watching simulcasted episodes on Hulu? The only things you have to deal with are about 2 or 3 ads and that the episodes come out the Wedsnday after they air (3 day delay from Japanese airing)
Just two weeks ago you if you watched weekly One Piece on Hulu you would've been an entire WEEK behind!
I highly reccomend it for those who always have problems on the site
Plus, you're still watching them legally

He is also Gendo Ikari. A rather fitting choice, I must say.

I agree. He plays badass characters quite badass, so him playing Akianu, while a little surprising at first, is a fitting choice.

One Piece again on the front page of Hulu for Episode 362. Also the Season 2 finale as well the first episode of Season 3 is now up on Hulu.

…Is this a sign? First the simulcast on the site is on Wednesday and now it is supposedly popular?
-
@LUFFY#1:

Or maybe they're just trying to do this thing called "advertising".
-
Advertising? For One Piece?
There is a god.

You're welcome.

Not to be downer, but you all know that this is a dry season for sites like Hulu. Most tv shows have ending their season's run and are waiting for September for new episodes to air. I know some of the bigger game series like Community, Big Bang Theory (not Hulu), and The Office start September 23rd. And I know The Simpsons, Family Guy, Cleavland Show, and American Dad (huge on Hulu) start September 26th.
All of the following haven't had a new episode for months, which kind of slows down Hulu. Also, in the Animation category I believe only Naruto and One Piece are even being updated weekly at the moment. So offcourse they're going to be watched more than most 2 or 4 month old re-runs.
-
Yeah pretty much the only things I watch on hulu currently is One Piece (I watch it on Funi's and Hulu), It's Always Sunny (since I'm on Season 5 right now, which Hulu gots at the moment), Rookie Blue, Archer, Justifiled and Covert Affairs.
Really the only thing Hulu is missing for me are NCIS (Sometimes I really don't like Viaccom) and Raw (Just in case I missed it.). But I mostly use Hulu for encore watching for One Piece since the episode looks a lot nicer on Hulu on some weeks.
-
I don't have Netflix, but I'm waiting for the price on Hulu's premium membership. Wouldn't mind being able to stream their back-catalog. Luckily, that currently isn't a problem with One Piece, because you can watch Episode 1 til the first episode of Skypiea with subs on Hulu.
-
I really wish Hulu would hurry up and allow Canadians, or that FUNi would find a new place to archive the episodes that is Canuck-friendly. While it's great OP is getting really popular on Hulu and the Simulcast is being put there quicker, it ALSO means it's taken off of FUNi's video server quicker.
I used to have a couple of weeks to watch an episode before it was moved to Hulu. Then I had one week. Now it seems I only have a few days to see it.
-
I liked this episode and for once, it had a good cliff hanger ending. And the filler they used filled in the gaps nicely, it didn't take away from the episode like it sometimes does.
*I'm curious as to what, if any, editing will be done in the next episode.
-
Really good paced episode with brilliant art and animation! So far Marineford has been really good. I really hope it keeps up.
-
Good episode, way better than last week. The pacing was much better.
I have to say: Fumihiko Tachiki makes a great Akainu. (Fun fact: Akainu's seiyuu plays Kenpachi from Bleach and WB's seiyuu plays Ginrei from Bleach)
The war's just beginning, so the really epic moments have yet to come.

seriously? i was actually very disappointed with the animation of the war so far, up to maybe when akainu attacks. And the pacing isn't great either, it really drags on when they keep doing close ups of people smiling, and all the still shots they keep using instead of animating them. it's getting old :ermm:

What? You thought Mihawk's attack being deflected and the battle between Marco and Kizaru was bad? Those were some of the best animated scenes since that one scene against Magellen! And the art was nice as well. And the still shots worked well for me. I'd rather see better main battles than have the budget wasted on scenes of random trash being hit by fire balls.

Anyone else getting kinda pissed with the "Showing people with shocked faces, with weird black dust flying around in the backround" thing. Now there showing it for characters showing off their power. The worst is with Ace, every scene he's in there's a bunch of black pieces of dust in the backround as he goes "GGKKKKGKKKK"

Yeah, but I think the last two episodes were a bit better. There was so much less of Ace doing that.
I was quite impressed with this episode, actually. The second time I watched it I noticed how great everything looked and the pacing wasn't too bad either.

I didn't really get annoyed seeing as it was more fitting but to each their own. I just hope it doesn't have that shit every episode. :getlost:
-
I really liked this episode! I know some people will be annoyed at the stalling with Ursa Shock like we had in Thriller Bark, but that music score makes it tolerable for me. I was a little worried they were going to sensor the dismemberment, but they left it, albeit the blood was a little reduced.
I really don't remember Kuma attacking Oars in the manga. Was this filler or did it happen?
-
Lovely fight scene from Boa. Also liked the the Giants vs Oars. Glad they kept in the one of the more violent actions taken during the war, even if you don't see it for more than 4 seconds.
@Chopperrules:I really don't remember Kuma attacking Oars in the manga. Was this filler or did it happen?
Yep, it sure did. The part I dislike about that scene actually is that it implies Kuma blows up the bubble from small. That completely ruins the logic of the attack though. I always imagined that Kuma "traps" a massive amount of air with a huge bubble, then compresses that. Here, there wouldn't be much pressure if he trapped a small amount of air, made the bubble bigger, then smaller.

Thanks. The earlier parts of the war is a little blurry to me, so I just wanted to check on that. I think I remember it happened on a two page spread, so that may be why.
Also, I think it makes perfect sense to me about Kuma's attack. Condensed air is much more powerful than a powerful gust of wind. Like Franky's Coup de Vent, being a prime example.

air pressure is the weight of like a school bus right?

I'm not sure, honestly. I have no physical evidence to support my theory, it just seems to make sense to me personally. I was looking on wiki for any info on it, but I couldn't find anything.

The episodes are getting better, but i'm still not loving it. The animation isn't getting the feling of the war, it's not fast paced and intense like a war should be. Really the one thing that is killing me more than anything, is the excessive use of still frames with random pirates and marines in the middle of moves. why the hell can't they animate those!?!
Not only that, but the animation as a whole is weak in comparison to the other two most popular anime, Bleach and Naruto. Seriously, the bleach anime sucks so bad (manga is amazing) but it's animation is a hundred times more intense, fluid and good looking than one piece right now. thats just not right!
-
While i agree with you that the Bleach anime is producing better animated episodes than One Piece right now…
Prepare to have people not agree with you SIMPLY because you called the Bleach manga "amazing".

I beg to differ. While Bleach's main story still sucks overall in general these days, the anime at least makes certain scenes durable with its animation and music and the seiyuus. Although now that we're into the Aizen makes a grand speech every episode sub plot, I don't know. But the manga is far inferior to the anime, even if you don't like the filler.
As for One Piece and your comment on the war, I don't get why you guys are so against the still shots? You people have to stop and realize they are trying to budget and save room for higher quality animation later on in the more important scenes. And overall the animation has been pretty fluid in the way so far on the scenes that are important, especially last episode with Marco, Kizaru and Akainu.

I lol'd. I saw the Naruto Vs susauke fight. And I swear some parts made them look so Fucking fugly it wasn't funny. I think One piece anime needs to review how they used to draw before the whole widescreen thing. Because after that I saw the drawings get more shit as it went by. Impel down was just bleh. Amazon lily just was ughhhhh.

The Naruto vs. Sasuke fight was one of the best animated fights I've seen in a long anime. It simply looked breathtaking.

LOL. ok cool nice.
-
Animation wise the Naruto/Sasuke fight was good. It was the art that was bad.
You guys really need to learn the difference between good art and good animation, because there is a huge difference between the two.

lol at this ^
and
about naruto anime,yeah "pain" arc,
generate some "look like a fan made animation level" scenes and a playful animator making a tom and jerry/looney tunes reference kind of filler scenes + fail animations,
I'll be very disappointed,if that will happen on our arcand my expression on marineford arc anime ver.
(so far so good, except for shanks arm) -

I agree with all of this, and i think with one piece at the moment for me, the art is solid, tolerable, basically I have no real problems with it. Its the animation, or lack of, that is bothering me. Still shots, still shots with floating debris. I mean dont get me wrong, i understand they have their purpose, just like background shots and whatnot. Its just they feel over used now, at least for these last couple war episodes, which I feel should have the quality of the movies (of course that isn't exactly reasonable or possible, but you know what i mean)
And about bleach, i dont really want to get into how i feel about it, but basically i hated it too, and then decided to give it a second chance, (or the manga a first chance), and, well, i just kinda fell in love with it somehow. But then i tried to go back and watch the anime, and i just coudnt stand it. I dont know what it is, but the dub really bothered me (which surprised me because I usually prefer dubbed anything over subs). But a lot of the voice acting felt awkward and off, specifically for a lot of the captains and lieutenants. but also a lot of dragging, filler, and flattened characters due to underdeveloped characters being used in fillers got to me too
-
Well, I don't watch the anime for Bleach or Naruto, so I can't argue with you guys there (although are we even supposed to be arguing those here?) but I will say that the anime for OP right now has it's ups and downs. Everyone's already complained about the still shots and such, but in comparison to episode 462 (which KILLED the mood for the beginning of the most badass war in One Piece history >_>) I'll forgive a lot of things.
For one, at least the fight scenes are a bit better. There's not as much standing around staring going "ooo" and "aaa". Plus, Little Oars Jr.'s fall really hit hard. His vision blurring and the flashbacks (although even then I can still think of some things that could have been done better) BUT, I will say this. The choice of music was brutal. T__T Anyone know the name of the piece that was playing at the very end of the episode as he reaches out to Ace? It was really heartrending.
-

Ah. Thanks a lot. Seriously I never even knew that but thanks for that info.
-
Ah. Thanks a lot. Seriously I never even knew that but thanks for that info.
Basically, art is the actual drawing of the characters/backgrounds and animation is the motion of the characters moving on screen. Bad art is when a character looks really bad, like they have weird faces or are in strange positions that make no sense, or something to that effect. And bad animation if when the things moving on screen seem very choppy, like a bad clay animation. Usually you never get both at the same time, but it's happened before.

pretty good episode this week. they totally took scenes from opening 12. cheap bastards .but WB owning the giant was nice and the garp ace luffy scene was very funny
-
Oh God, was it hard to hold 'em back.
I found the translation of 'kuso jiji' perfect. Ace is hardly above that level of language.
Mato sure does love his 's-bombs', though. :p The Daimaô arc of Dragon Ball was filled to the brim with them. :p
