Probably there's a problem with the alt. reality and it's trying to fix itself?
Actually they did want Shannon in the scene, but Maggie Grace wasn't available, so they had to find a cheap way out. That kinda bothered me too.

Also why in the name of of all that is sane won't these people just EXPLAIN why the fuck they're doing what they're doing?!
There seems to be a mix of Others there.
Others that have been there (specifically in the Temple I imagine) for a LONG time and Others that have been mobile ie. with Ben, Eloise, Charles, etc.
If this is the case (and it seems to be since they had no goddamn idea who Jack and co. were despite their filanderings with Others from way back) they have absolutely no reason to explain their actions whatsoever. The Others are secretive enough, imagine a group of secret Others.
and what's with all the hostility?
By this point I wouldn't bat an eyelash at Others being hostile.
Why were the Japanese dude and the others living so close to the temple that Ben was duped by AntiJacob in?
They weren't in a temple, they were in 'the wall' which Ben explained was built to keep people out of The Temple.
WOAH! If Nemlocke really IS the Monster, no strings attached, then it finally explains why it took John so long to find a vine for Ben! THEY REALLY ARE ANSWERING EVERYTHING!!!!
I see Darlton's calling them something akin to parallel-backs.
I call bullshit.
I still think they're the epilogue and they're going to come together JUST like in Season 1 but in the mainland.
Why?
Because, repeat after me, IT'S THEIR MOTHER-FUCKIN' DESTINY!
God I love this show.
Actually they did want Shannon in the scene, but Maggie Grace wasn't available, so they had to find a cheap way out. That kinda bothered me too.
goty, although it might have been an issue, they're going to address it specifically and make it, make sense in the story. Which is why they rule. That's not me being hopeful, they literally brought it up in an interview.
OH!!!!! Calling it now!
Richard was a slave on The Black Rock.
You know what, EFFF you. That makes damn good sense now that I think about it. I was trying to think what the hell he meant by chains, totally forgot about the Slave ship.
Am I the only one who thinks Sawyer is gonna con the shit out of Epi-Hurley?
! Claire and Kate! Claire was on her way to give the baby away I presume!
One of the questions I want answered….is what was the deal with Walt getting kidnapped, what did they "get" for more than they bargained for..
HAHA! As soon as Sawyer's eyes perked up I was like, "SHIT! Yer done Hugo!" ^O^
Rewatching and rewatching.
I was in shock and anticipation during the first viewing so it didn't hit me quite as hard as it does now but hearing Locke talk about his Walkabout and then see him wheeled off…that was heartbreaking, especially when Nemlocke walks by his body.
He always was a tragic character but this has reduced him to 'beaten puppy licking his master's hand'.
I thought they made it pretty clear MiB was Smokey after he went and beat the hell out of Jacob's men.
MiB likely hates Jacob because Jacob can leave the Island and for whatever reason he cannot. Might it be that he isn't a solid being and thus needs to remain near the Island so he doesn't run out of…smoke?
I thought they made it pretty clear MiB was Smokey after he went and beat the hell out of Jacob's men.
If it was just that simple, why didn't he 'change' in front of them?
I'm not saying he isn't, but I can't help but wonder if there are strings attached.
I was thinking it was a budgetary issue, not to mention it makes things a bit more creepy. Heck, such could be something they'd like to save for a later money-shot.
Although I will say I'd have love to see MiB-Lock reappear with smoke absorbing into him from his back as if we were cutting to the tail-end of his transformation back into Locke form, but alas such was not to be…
I was thinking it was a budgetary issue, not to mention it makes things a bit more creepy.
It would be extremely easy in amatuer software like After Effects to have him walk behind a pillar and evaporate into smoke.
And don't forget, this isn't the first time he's gone elsewhere when changing.
Remember when Ben talked to him in 'Dead is Dead' and Locke came out of the jungle.
Or when he went to 'look for the vine'.
Plus, since he was right in the room, why did he need to come in from the hallway? And from quite a distance I might add.
Such is a valid point. I'd say MiB is a bit vain however I suspect you are correct in there being something more to it.
Man! Giachinno's beautiful motif playing out the first episode, Locke shaking hands with Boone, all smiles. Now, I'm no figgler, but I admit, I got a bit misty eyed there.
There may have been manly tears shed.
@Yuugi- Damn you for stealing my av idea >=3
hmmm, the ash they sprinkle and the sonar fence that blocked the monster must share a similarity…
The monster is afraid of circles.
Yea but as we know Rock crushes ScissorsCircles made of ash.
I hope there is point in the battle between Smokey and Jacob and it isnt made for nothing.
Didn't you all understand; the smoke-guy just wants to go home.
heh just joking.
What I understood from the interview is that the losties changed things in the 70s, so everything changed since then - therefore we had Desmond in the plane, because he couldn't be on the island (the island was submerged) - Hugo didn't win the lottery with the numbers, because the numbers weren't broadcasted from the island (the island was submerged) - shannon wasn't in the plane, because … she really loved the guy in Australia (the island was submerged of course) - ......

OHH! I can't believe I just got that! I was wondering why Hurley said he was the luckiest guy alive. I thought he was just being sarcastic
Hopefully Locke gets some ( less depressing ) spotlight in the alternative timeline.
Smokey once again made clear, that Lockes whole life and efforts were a tragedy throughout.
I'm willing to bet that the timeline on the island will focus on the war that Widmore mentioned to Locke last season. Though, I'm still kinda bummed that more questions about the history of the island haven't been answered yet. There've been a lot of mysteries that could've been presented in the time shifts, but maybe it's better if we're kept in the dark about some other aspects of Dharma and everything. After all, Darlton said that not all 100 percent of the questions we might ask would be answered.
I'm really hoping we find out about Richard, Flocke, and Jacob's backstories. Right from the moment Jacob was killed by Ben, I knew that it wouldn't be the last we'd see of him. But then again, this is the show where death doesn't automatically equal absence.
Rewatching Season 2 at the moment. Forgot how irritating Ana Lucia was. Can't wait to see that bitch die. Best thing Michael ever did.
Jack is going to correct Locke's spinal injury in the corrected time line in the last episode.
Short question, after rewatching some episodes..
Did we actually ever got to know what Jack's tattoo's really mean?
Or is this still an unsolved riddle?
"He walks amongst us, but he isn't part of us."
But remember, that's what it says, it's not what it means!
For more on Jack's tattoos, watch season 3 episode 9: "Stranger in a Strange Land". I recommend it.
It seemed to me that that storyline was dropped. That chick was brought up, but never seen again. Hope we see her.
I just rewatched that episode, and I have to say I completely disagree with you.
That episode sucks and reveals nothing, why would you want it to have attention called to it again?
EDIT: Okay, so I just don't sound like some random dick chiming in on one point, I've been impressed by this season.
I was a little irked that there was another fucking group of people to deal with, but hey, I guess they know what they're doing.
Anyway, I'm really hoping they don't pull out some pretentious bullshit that is way over my head for an ending, but if they do, I guess it was fun while it lasted.
Finally hit the point in the story where I had quit watching Lost, which is about midway through Season 3. Hot damn. This show is addictive. I think I've watched like 50 episodes in the past week.
I think this was the coolest episode since season 3 finale.
With the disappointment of season 4 and the time traveling of season 5, we finally go back to the core of lost. The characters. The handshake between Jack and Locke was an amazing moment. Also Locke and Boone discussion was fantastic.
To be honest though, I have to disagree with greg who didn't like the scene where Jack tried CPR on Sayid. Actually i thought it was nice that there was a difference with season 1. In season 1 the characters had experienced a crash, survived and out of nowhere there was a monster and someone wanted the baby. So it was justified that Jack and Kate were very emotional which was the reason such a great scene was delivered.
In season 6, after all the shit that happened to them, they most probably have come to think that this is actually natural. They had seen many people die before their eyes and they had gone back to their shitty lives off-island.
That created a great contrast I think.
By the way, I only wish that each season of lost was as great as season 1. That would be totally awesome.
I went into work yesterday. I find out I will now work Tuesday nights. I am not a happy person.
I went into work yesterday. I find out I will now work Tuesday nights. I am not a happy person.
…......
I'm sorry, that was uncalled for. I really do sympathize.
Kate's a real bitch
! Finally feels sorry for Claire, after only leaving her in the middle of the city
Lookin' good so far.
! I guess that really is Sayid and not a Jacob-possessed Sayid.
And there we have it…
! Sawyer's lost the "lovable" part of his lovable rogue charm. And what could the test Sayid went through be?
! Holy crap! Is that Ethan?!
! Whoa. Clever move by Jack.
"I thought you were dead"
"….I am."
GIIIGGLEJGOIHEGOIEGIEGEGLKJASFOLIHAEWOITHOIEHGT!!!!!!!!!!!!! foams at mouth
damn someone told me lost starts at 10pm…...... and I took their word for it.......
good episode guys?
I missed most of the episode, due to my glasses breaking. Dammit, this is not my week.
@The:
damn someone told me lost starts at 10pm…...... and I took their word for it.......
good episode guys?
Let that be a lesson to you.
But yeah, pretty good episode. Nothing incredibly major revealed, although…
! We see Claire at the very end.
@DanialG:
Kate's a real bitch.
Kate is easily the worst character on the show, she's selfish, annoying and always look unclean.
Anyway, this was a pretty good episode, the twist at the end was nice and now I have have a name for Dogen instead of that Japanese guy.
Oh, by the way, does Jack know who his sister is, I know we as an audience know, but does he?
Claire's mother told him about Claire off the island.
Kate is like Sakura.
Kate is easily the worst character on the show, she's selfish, annoying and always look unclean.
Don't forget the bad acting. Seriously, Evangeline Lilly somehow gets worse every year. Her "crying" scene after losing Sawyer yet again was pretty bad. Holloway's sadness was way way more convincing.
Good episode overall, sure the plot didn't advance much, but i always liked Lost mostly for its characters' interaction.
Ethan's appearance wasn't that surprising. No island-reality, i'm expecting a lot of paths crossing.
Btw, is there some place to read the japanese lines translated?
I'm really hoping we see what the lives of the non-815 people were like in the flashsideways timeline after seeing how different Ethan was. It's actually kinda creepy seeiing him work on Claire when you think back to him abducting her back in the first season. When we first saw that mechanic who helped Kate get her handcuffs off, I thought it was Tom for a second.
And for the record, I think Jack's a lot more annoying than Kate.
Walt has to make another appearance before the show is over, it just has to happen, I can't go through the season with him just, being off the island. There has to be more!
Really didn't like the episode, aside from the amazing Sawyer scene on the docks and the last five minutes or so.
Kate is a criminal with a heart. We get it. Did we really need a flash sideways to show us this all over again?
And dicking around with answers is really not the time anymore. I really don't like Dogan for the simple reason he's a vague bastard.
Jack was great. He shared my sentiments in hating Dogan and wanting those damn answers.
I'm just glad we got what is most likely the worst episode of the season out of the way.
Next week is about Sawyer and Flocke. CANNOT WAIT.
P.S. FUCK YES MAC WAS BACK
Kate episodes are so bland and boring, much like the actress. I'm still not really sold on the alternate timeline, what's the point of it? But maybe I'll eat my words at the end of season.
WOW THAT WAS BORING.
Okay, so the island stuff was cool.
Okay, and Ethan was cool.
Okay, so Claire popping up at the end was sweet.
Okay, so Sawyer's scene was amazing and 120% in character.
But holy mother was the epiflash boring. It SOMEWHAT came together when we saw how Kate wanted to seek out Claire so they didn't forget that which is classic tight Lost writing but still it felt like they HAD to depict it and less like they wanted to.
It can't get worse.
And Dogen and Lenon are so sweet together.
Dogen's untranslated lines were interesting as well but this episode, far more than the previous, it felt like direct translations which is a shame. For instance, "There's not really a literal translation."
My ass.
He said he was 'injured'.
And I'm very sad that Sayid's real accent was used at the end of the last episode but was left unaddressed. How did they let that take get used?
And Dogen and Lenon are so sweet together.
I've been hearing the translator referred to this a couple times, but can't seem to find a source.
Is it a fan-given name or am I missing something?
P.S. FUCK YES MAC WAS BACK
Yeah, i noticed him immediately. Was it really him back then when Kate smakked him with the rifle? Maybe I wasn't familiar with Always Sunny back then.
As much as Jack has been annoying me since last season, I give him credit for downing the pill. Tho after all the time travel and whatnot, Jack still being super skeptical about these "behind the scenes" people who "know what's really going on" just feels like childish stubbornness.
Like Agent Scully staring right at an extra terrestrial and going " I don't believe it, Mulder"
Yuppers! The dude they duped to get Karl back.
