@Mad:
I don't understand why you're saying this.
What's wrong with Hannaybal wanting the people of the world to feel a little more secure knowing guys like Luffy are locked away?
You're acting like the Impel Down prisoners don't matter because they're in Impel Down. You're acting like being in prison shows how weak these guys are and how easily they're beaten. That's not true at all.
If the Marines had that much strong manpower at their disposal, as to instantly destroy all those guys once they get out, then you'd have a point. Then the people of the world would be able to feel safer. But you know what, the Marine Big Wigs are more concerned with the massive fish like Whitebeard. Who is looking out for the little guy as they get stepped on by crooks and killers like the pirates? The Impel Down staff. The lower Marines.
I mean, the Marines send their big guys after pirates when Tenryubito get attacked, not when a town is getting pillaged by the Candy Pirates.
But…there's an entire marine blockade surrounding Impel Down. Right now. If I remember right it's like twice as marine ships as there was with the Buster Call, if they are that type of ship. How does anyone above level 5 stand a chance against that?
Do you really think that many prisoners will escape with that kind of force out there? It'll probably end up being just Luffy's closest allies that get out. Hannybal was just saying those things cause he doesn't know Luffy. Luffy isn't letting prisoners escape, most of them are getting KOed in this conflict! The entire level 2 is practically dead now.
Again, I think people are being more swayed by Hannybal's awesome endurance and the passion of his speech, and missing the facts. Btw, I beleive Blackbeard's head crushing and Hannybal's goofy expressions as he was beaten were hints that the author believes Hanny is wrong. Oh yeah, and remember the despair Impel Down brought to Nami or Kokoro during the Water 7 arc. Do you really think anyone but the gaolers themselves think this place comforts the people?
Luffy is here to save his brother, the fact that he's wrecking a prison that rather over dramatically tortures it's prisoners should not be immoral. Besides, this whole "Luffy's letting killers go free" isn't an issue until they reach the surface, and by that time Luffy or Iva can just screw them over. Then bam. Luffy is on his way to Marineford and the prisoners are busy fighting the marines and gaolers. The world shouldn't be effected by this...
