Somebody punt this guy back into the paleolithic age

"… claims breastmilk cures homosexuality" I don't know why, but reading this sentence made me chuckle a bit. It's just so ridiculous, it can't be real.
Wait, it is real. Woah.
@Rogues':

But his words about "legitimate rape" aren't fake, right? Still an idiot.
Workers arrested at South Africa's Marikana mine have been charged in court with the murder of 34 of their colleagues shot by police.
How the hell does that even work???
Sorry that I don't have anything more to say but I'm just astounded at how asinine the SA government's reaction is.
Especially seeing as how it clearly goes against South Africa's long history of responsible governance.
"Who's Hitler he was just some strict guy right? Btw let's dot the 'i' with a swastika"
Actually swastika makes sense as in India it's symbol of well being, luck, and one of holly symbols of Buddha (and it has been for some thousands years), it's something, that if I was shop owner in India I would definitely want on my shop. It's not their fault some murderers decide to misuse it. Expecting people in India to stop using the symbol is like expecting Christians to stop using symbol of cross.
It's usage of Hitler names that's strange here, swastika may or may not be accidental.
Workers arrested at South Africa's Marikana mine have been charged in court with the murder of 34 of their colleagues shot by police.
Despite how unjust and outrageous it is, I can't bring myself to feel shocked. It's exactly the kind of thing some regimes are willing to pull. Apparently defying all logic and common sense is not the problem for some people. I don't know the current situation in The South Africa too well, but it's clearly not all sunshine when it comes to equality and legislation.

I really, really do hope you can steer clear from these greedy monsters. The people of the States deserve better.
So I just saw a bit of news on a guy who raped women, then stole their money.

Can I get the condensed version of what just happened ? Seems important but my brain is numbed by 12 hours of sitting on stairs.
From what I gather Fox News attempted to hide (outright deleting it would give away the name of the game) an article exposing the lies in a Paul Ryan speech by trying to bury it beneath other articles in a trending list on their home page. Except that they utterly failed to do so and the thing is spreading like wildfire.

They do realize trying to hide things on the internet generally just make them more popular right?

Iran and North Korea Pledge Nuclear Science and Technology Cooperation
DUBAI (Reuters) - Iran and North Korea have signed an agreement to cooperate in science and technology, Iranian media reported on Saturday, and Iran's supreme leader declared that the two countries had "common enemies."
The two countries will cooperate in research, student exchanges and joint laboratories, and in the fields of information technology, engineering, biotechnology, renewable energy, the environment, sustainable development of agriculture and food technology, the Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA) reported.
ILNA said the agreement was signed by Iran's Minister for Science, Research, and Technology Farhad Daneshjoo and North Korean Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun.
North Korea has had close ties with Iran. Leaked U.S. diplomatic cables from 2010 showed that U.S. officials believe Iran has acquired ballistic missile parts from North Korea.
Pyongyang's Communist government and Iran's Islamic republic share little in the way of ideology, but both were named as part of an "axis of evil" by former U.S. President George W. Bush in his 2002 State of the Union speech.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also met with North Korea's Kim Yong-nam, seen as a figurehead head of state, who was in Tehran for the Non-Aligned Movement summit held this week.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran and North Korea have common enemies, because the arrogant powers do not accept independent states," Khamenei was quoted as saying by ILNA on Saturday.
There had been rumors that North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong-un would attend the summit of developing countries. The Non-Aligned Movement is one of the few multilateral forums in which the North takes part.
Iran's first vice-president, Mohammad Reza Rahimi, also called on Saturday for greater economic ties between his country and North Korea, Iranian state television reported.

Iran's living standards aren't SO bad, it's basically like Brazil.
Their political rights are horrible of course, don't get me wrong. It's sad you know, if their government weren't such as it is and they were open to the world and all that jazz, and had responsible governance I imagine their economy would be much much better. Maybe even first world by now.
I still think because they have that strong bedrock that the odds things will work out well once they finally throw off the yoke of the Ayatollahs. If the country isn't ravaged to hell in the process of course….man, such a cool country, held hostage as it were.
North Korea of course is a complete shit hole lol.

Iran is cool. They don't have Walmart and McDonalds. And they don't use credit cards. And they don't block torrents.
A hippie paradise.

Thing is I'm a bit afraid what might happen to Somaliland should the rest of Somalia consolidate itself once more.

Yeah yeah, true.
There's also heavy degrees of tribalism in the country even if everyone is pretty much Somali.

Not to say anything overly negative about the current government, but are we sure that, given the power, they won't try to forcibly incorporate it regardless of the wishes of it's population ? And the world media would probably side with it, being the "little sewer urchin-of-a-nation that could".
Also apparently islamists in Mali have taken over Douentza.

The world is fairly involved in the whole process, but even if they worked it out the possibility of future war would be fairly high I think.
I imagine things are looking good for Somaliland in terms of the immediate aftermath, the West will likely try to work things out with it's wishes in mind. And the African powers around Somalia would probably rather the new state be slightly smaller for competition reasons.

Well Soudan and Other Sudan began fighting like the same year the South gained independence, so….but then again that might be due to who'se still in charge in Sudan.

Decades long conflict between oppressors and people who are tired of their yoke and a helluva lot of oil involved in that particular "war". Sudan's a weird one anyway because there's so much separatism going on inside the country that Bashir's ironfisted rule has only served to inflame the situation further. It could very well all implode at some point, unless changes are made.
However, Somaliland's transition to independence has been, for the most part, peaceful. It's hard to believe that Somalia, in the case that they get their act together and start actually pushing for a functional central government and stabilized conditions in the country, wants to enter another decade of strife just because a former part of it says it wants to stay out now.
So, now we know that she died. Predictable and saddening.

I read some of the response posts to this earlier this morning, before I went off to school.
! I don't know what it is about some dudes and reading these stories and having the "well I don't do that, you shouldn't treat men like they're Schrodinger's rapist" as if this was ever about them in the first place.
What is so hard to understand about "Strangers aren't owed the time of day. You can't know what to expect from 'em, so understand why girls might be cautious of 'em?"
! You see these arguments played out over and over again, into perpetuity:
"I have a reasonable wariness of strange men in public places, because of x, y, and z"
"…but... my penis is being oppressed!! you're being mean to my gender!!!"
"groan"
! And I've heard so many of these harrassment stories it blows my mind, so for my part, when a woman talks about the gauntlet of abuse they have to deal with I sit down and shut the hell up.
I am in no position to speak authoritatively about how these ladies should feel, or how they should act.
The fact of the matter is if you don't get why women are telling you about the kinds of harrassment and abuse they have to deal with, as a cautionary tale,
If you don't get it -- won't get it – just be quiet, damn. You make the rest of us look bad.
Silence, I hope you find a girl who treats you exactly how you would treat her. You're a rare breed these days…you deserve a wonderful relationship :)
Just saw this on Reddit, any resident Japanese here that have heard any news about it? Or are the UK papers just...blowing hot air.(yeaaaaaaaaaaa)
After a week of attempting to decipher what they thought would be an enigmatic code protecting Assad’s private correspondences, one of the sophisticated cyber-burglars tried 'thinking like an idiot,' Al-Hayat reported Thursday.
'You’re doing it wrong,' said hacker Abdullah Shamri, recalling for the paper the moment at which epiphany struck one of his criminals-in-arms. 'You always call the heads of the regime morons, so let’s try to work like morons'.
An enterprising hacker immediately tried a password widely acknowledged to be one of the most imbecilic possible: 1234…Within moments the hackers had at their fingertips a trove of private missives belonging to the dictator of Damascus.

I understand what you mean, but as for the last guy mentioned, I think it's apropriate to say that either way, because this doesn't seem like "just" a case of a guy possibly dangerous to women, more like a great whopping nut who has no business being near anyone without the presence of bars and concrete walls regardless of gender.

Assad, meanwhile, "made light of reforms he had promised in an attempt to defuse the crisis, referring to 'rubbish laws of parties, elections, media'" and at one point forwarded to an aide "a link to YouTube footage of a crude re-enactment of the siege of Homs using toys and biscuits," the Guardian reports.
So Assad watches random shit on youtube. Good to know even one of today's most brutal dictators isn't beyond things like keyboard cat.
I don't think even Gaddafi displayed this much incompetence.
Seldom does history hand us dictators whose cluelessness is so breathtaking
This is why I laugh at conspiracy theorists who believe in things like the Illuminati. Because in real life, yes there are awful iron fisted regimes that control every facet of their society. But they still make passwords of "1234" lollll.
They're still run by falliable idiot human beings.
I can't help but think of the UT student who was labeled a hacker and convicted of a misdemeanor and felony obstruction because he was able to guess Sarah Palin's password for her Yahoo Mail account.
It wasn't something so ludicrously easy as 1234, but it was still something that anybody who knew basic facts about her could guess.

It always feels surreal to me when real life maniacal dictators make the same kind of buffoonish, incompetent mistakes you'd expect of fictional maniacal dictators.

So, hey, Maryland has an upcoming marriage equality bill on the ballot in November.
Brendon Ayanbadejo. a linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens, has supported the ballot several times and even provided tickets to the Raven's season opener to a fundraiser to support marriage equality.
Yesterday, a Maryland minister and politician sent a letter to the Ravens denouncing those actions and even demanded that the team stop him from publicly displaying his support for gay marriage. A copy of the letter can be seen here:
Viking's Punter Chris Kluwe responded thusly:
