Like for sure they have to take her on the ship until they escape egghead an marines.
There is something very similar between her relation to kuma and rebecca with kyros, so may end up with kuma.
But with both vegapunk and bonney on the ship, one has to be a red herring.

Otherwise we'd just be running around in dead-end discussions otherwise.

So that must mean Laffitte, Devon, and the 10th Titanic Captain are the ones heading to Egghead then. If this is true, then it might be an indication that Luffy’s 10th person will pop up relatively sooner, in order to finalize the 11 vs. 11 once and for all.

About half of Egghead so far seems to be setting up Blackbeard inevitably clashing with Luffy, so this arc would prob be as good of a time as any.
Don't forget about Aokiji. We don't know yet if he is considered the 10th captain or not. If he is and speculation is correct that he is a spy then Blackbeard only has 9 captains and not 10. There is also the possibility that Caribou finds out and Aokiji gets replaced by someone else or Caribou himself.

I'm not saying there isn't any time left for that to happen. What I'm saying is something needs to happen. Something needs to happen to grab the reader's attention and get them excited for who's next. Looking at this thread, it hasn't happened yet so onwards to the next arc.

I think it’s apparent based on what Yamato said and wants in Chapter 1059 that she is indeed meant to be the next crewmate and will follow-up on finding out the full extent of Oden’s mission like with the borders as soon as her business with Momo is finished. I think that’s enough to keep the conversation alive even while we’re in a different place in the manga, but instead of giving the benefit of the doubt, some people would either rather crack jokes or go full-force on their doubt of Yamato ever joining the crew as if nobody who suggests the contrary has any valid point to say. I admit it could have been handled differently, but I’m sure it can also be understood why people like myself are excited by Luffy eventually being able to have fun and adventure with a friend like her.
After all, if people were allowed to get excited at the prospect of someone like Chopper, Brook, or Jinbe joining multiple chapters after the idea of them joining was suggested, then it can be understood where people like me are coming from even if we don’t agree on everything otherwise.
So at this point, I think something more certain we could look forward to is the next cover story. The Germa one recently ended and is currently on reader requests, so whoever Oda decides to focus on in the next cover story could possibly be indicative of where his priorities are with Luffy’s 10th person. If it turns out the next cover story has nothing to do with Luffy’s 10th person, then I’ll admit I was wrong to suspect as much, so we’ll have to see.
I think there is more of a chance for a satellite to be a crewmate than the original if any of the 7 were to join.

Things don't look too good for Kuma right now given how his humanity has pretty much been wiped away and even Vegapunk doesn't seem like he can bring him back. Of course I could be proven the contrary, but doing so would prob negate whatever is going on with Bonney's story. I hope we go back to it soon, speaking of which.

As one of those who have tuned out of this discussion, I don't think Oda is able to credibly build that excitement back up again. With Whole Cake Island and Wano he demonstrated that no degree of fleshing out a character should be trusted to end in a satisfying payoff. Even if the character is getting all the hallmarks of the other Straw Hats, be it a tragic past/present, being an outcast, a dream that necessitates leaving their home and traveling the Grand Line, circumstances that prevent them from chasing said dream until Luffy comes along, chemistry with the crew, a unique design and skills that could be put towards a position on the ship – none of it will guarantee that Oda isn't pulling another curveball on us.

I think Oda placing “fake candidates” was totally intentional to throw people off, and the real one will probably spring so suddenly into nakamaship that it will catch readers off-guard. No time to prepare for it, it will just happen.
The window for Carrot/Yamato being red herrings has long since past and the worst thing Oda can do right now is have someone join out of nowhere without proper build up. It just going to drive home the idea of Oda is rushing to end and will rely on cheap surprises that are more likely to make the reader question is storytelling ability than make them happy. This current arc has been fun but it doesn't make up for all his weird decision making in Wano.
A surprise should excite the reader and make sense, not leave the reader asking "Wtf, Oda?" Wano had plenty of the latter.

I've been very clear that I don't believe the last straw hat will be new. What I said applies to all the characters that are constantly repeated in this thread. Whether it's Yamato, Boa, or even Vivi, Oda has to put the work in. They are not going to join out of the blue.
Having any character join out of nowhere is only going to make those "X for Nakama" fans happy while the rest of us will be, welp, this is One Piece now.

I don't see Yamato's situation as Oda baiting in anyway. I thought he would join, but that wasn't the purpose.
Orochi and Kaido were a force and so will Momo and Yamato. Especially with Pluton down there. Being the guardians or deities of the land that host Pluton is a big deal in this story.

There's Vivi who is a SH not on the ship.
Yamato is a powerful general with Pluton and the leftover Beast Pirates.
Fleet is it's own thing.

Varying categories and purpose. If one is to see it as just a candidate or not, then you can get stuck in "what was the point of Yamato saying they will join". Oden's goal was to help and change Wano. His backstory of not fitting in and welcoming each outcast from Ashura to Neko and Inu speaks to how he'd want Wano to be. He also wanted to selfishly explore the outside world, but it was both that and a means to an end.
Yamato got to enjoy those stories and see that Wano needs a look at before he repeats what his idol, Oden did. Point of holding onto joining the crew is to show how important looking into Wano is. Passing up being a MC for something possibly more closer to his heart doesn't come off as random to me. All those times he could have interacted with a SH and he is just stuck with Momo or Kaido telling him he's the Wano general is no mistake.
Sanji baking the cake. Chouchou standing by the Pet Food shop. It all goes back to what is a character's treasure. Their disposition and the the object itself. You look up to Oden and the samurai that treated you kindly in dark moments. You grew up here and have read about why Oden might have done some of the things he did like dancing. He even prioritized Momo's safety at points.
@Deicide This current arc has been a lot of fun so it's not like I lost faith in Oda. I just don't believe we're getting a new crewmember this arc as Oda hasn't done anything to move that needle forward. There's still time in the story to build that up but it will be done before someone joins, not after. Right now I'm waiting for that moment, even though I will be hesitant about going all in.
And for Pluton, ZERO chance that's staying in Wano under Momo. That's clear as day at this point.

As mentioned before, if one presumes that Oda did everything he did in Wano because he was primarily focusing on Luffy's battle and Momo's rise to being shogun, then it makes sense why those two turned out the way they did.
Neko and Inu leave Zou and encourage Carrot to rise up so they can better support Momo.
Yamato decides to temporarily hold off on sailing in order to support Momo.
Just about everything that isn't revolving around Luffy in that arc revolves around Momo, considering his role in all of this. I don't agree with every decision Oda made there, but if wanting to understand what motivated him the most to make those decisions in the first place, then I'd say placing Momo as one of the two biggest priorities was probably the most likely scenario.
That said, I think it's a result of this that Momo will probably never receive this much focus ever again. So for any 11th crewmate story Oda has in store, he could at least rest a little more easy that he won't have to juggle Momo's story around as much by then.

So with Chapter 1081 out now, do you guys think that Oda emphasizing on Blackbeard’s 10th Titanic Captain could possibly mean we might see closure on Luffy’s 10th person sooner? Regardless of whether or not Kuzan leaves Blackbeard and is replaced, this still seems to reinforce Blackbeard Pirates mainly being structured as 11 people. Straw Hats currently have 10 people, so it only seems appropriate they later have 11 to make it an 11 vs. 11.

I thought the exact same thing, and if Yamato doesn’t fight Kuzan, I’d suppose she’d be set-up with an appropriate replacement.
Kuzan confirmed as the 10th is a step in the right direction but it's not enough to inject the much needed energy this topic needs. There are no guarantees we will have 1v1 fights and who knows is Kuzan will stay in that position. I doubt Oda would keep that position empty so there is still hope I guess.
Going down the road of Kuzan staying as the 10th and the Straw Hats getting one more crewmember, my fight card still stands from the other thread:

Not sure how Robin vs Kuzan will work but I feel that will be a good story considering their history. That leaves Devon as the odd person out and knowing her back story, that means the last crewmember would most likely be a woman. With the information we currently have my best guess would be either Boa or Yamato would face off against Devon. I would be in more favor of Yamato vs Devon as I think that would be a more interesting fight for Zoan reasons and, hopefully, a more personal story beat Yamato.
I think at the very least, this all shows that if Oda is willing to take the time to reveal Blackbeard’s 10th Titanic Captain, even in the final saga, then it may be indicative of Oda having a good possibility of taking time to reveal Luffy’s 10th person, in contrast to what some people may say otherwise.
If Kuzan stays with the Black Beard Pirates I’d definitely say he will fight Sanji, outside of him only Luffy, Zoro and Jinbei would stand a chance anyway and fire vs Ice sounds like a good match up
I still think Caribou might join Black Beard but probably not as a captain
Oh hey, one of the problems I had with Carrot is gone now. She can use her power up at any time now instead of being restricted to plot convenient moon timing.
That was one of the biggies.
The biggest of course being Chopper exists but I think after the literal years of debates it's only fair to admit one of the old obstacles is gone.

All the old reasons for the crew hitting 11 total are still valid, ten friends, soccer team, BB's crew size... but for a long time we've been under the impression that Blackbeard had 10 crew members and Aokiji was an undercover add on that was clearly going to betray him.
If he's the 10th it's a little harder to believe he's genuinely going to be THE last fight for someone, though its more interesting if he's legit joined and provides someone a major challenge.
We've sort of gleamed that the crew seen on Wano is THE crew Oda imagined at the start and certainly nothing is stopping him from having new ideas over the course of 25 years... but his desire to finish is also clearly a factor.
So I won't say "no one else is joining" but I think we might be at the point where everyone, Vivi, Yamato, Momo and Kinemon, Pudding, etc. are all for "epilogue crew" who will be showcased in follow up media and movies after the series is done rather than folks we'll have any actual time with on the ship outside of the final war.
The 10th captain “reveal” actually adds nicely to my expectations of the 11th SH to be revealed soon and suddenly.
Mind you, Kuzan being the 10th captain could have been revealed since Dressrosa. Half of the fans were expecting that, we all knew he was with Blackbeard for 300+ chapters. It could be revealed in last year’s Road to Laugh Tale and it wouldn’t change how this confirmation felt.
So, Oda waiting this moment may in part be influenced by a desire to spark this discussion now rather than years ago.

In replying to what you said there, considering how Oden joined Roger a year before going to Laugh Tale to find answers for Wano’s future and was still shown having fun times with them to the point of developing a bond he cried over when it came time to separate, would you be willing to agree Yamato could go through something like that too?

The only thing I can think of is that Vivi will fool Morgans into printing something the government wants to stay hidden. Maybe it's related to the Egghead Incident, even?
But then, what could come after that?
One possible outcome of that would be the government sending Cipher Pol to deal with Morgans, and this making Vivi's and Wapol's whereabouts public. However, I feel in that case it would make more sense for the Revolutionaries to be in position to save them than the Straw Hats.
Vivi meeting the Revolutionaries wouldn't be bad at all. But I sure want her to reunite with the crew at some point before the end of the story.
Well hey, I ended up right about two things: Kuzan is the 10th Titanic Captain, and Sulong can work without the moon. Still hope we get one more new member to match up with BB, but I can't summond any anticipation about it. Those debates sure were exciting to be part of, still happy I tried.

@Shift Kuzan being the 10th captain was also my opinion for many years, but at some point I got tired and started thinking it could be someone else because "it should have been revealed by now".
(I think I started to think that way after Road to Laugh Tale still kept the 10th captain a secret, less than a year ago)

I'd like to know how it works, thought. Sulong can kill a mink if maintained for too long, and the mink needs to stop looking at the full moon to change back... So how does it work when you don't need a moon to begin with?

@Deicide On that note, it's a bit annoying how no one ever seems to notice how bizarre the Rumble Ball is, in-story. Like, Chopper has invented this crazy-ass pill that makes Zoans have strange new forms, and no one seems to blink an eye at what it does.
Chopper 100000% has made a new variant rumble ball for himself that will be a Sulong variant. Not exactly that obviously, but something else since he's realized the raw strength of his giant form isn't enough anymore. Electric base wouldn't surpise me since no one else in the crew besides Nam does electric... and that's a build up from static in the fur.

Eh, it's kind of a moot point. Strawhats aren't going to do a round trip, they're IN their last few months already.
And it doesn't matter fromm the reader's perspective if they're a technical crewmate that will travel with them in the epilogue, if we're not seeing them grow and face the challenges and go on the great final adventure and having antics with the crew... what does it matter?
Even if Yamato turned around and caught up with them on the very next island, that'll have been a year of real time adventures cut out for no reason, that much less time to hang out, when Oda is clearly gunning for the ending. I don't think Oda's finishing any time soon, there's still at least 5 years left... but no matter how long it runs we've already lost one.
It was bad enough that he pulled this crap with Jinbe for a decade.
"They'll be in the final war in just a few years!" doesn't mean much when EVERYONE is going to do that.
@Johnny-B-Decent Also, when we find another character capable of doing something similar (Black Maria), the story just glosses over it and pretends it's nothing special.
I wonder if there's a connection between Kuzan being named the 10th Captain, despite "Kuzan as Teach's ally" and "Teach having a new crewmember" being treated as separate things when we first check in on Kuzan post-timeskip, and how absolutely bizarre Oda's handling of Yamato was.

I would have zero surprise is this is another time-cut maneuver because Oda has to cut corners SOMEWHERE to keep the series from running another 20 years.
Yamato's exit was SO sloppily done, and reworked just two chapters later (before Oda would have even gotten mail on the matter) that it really really feels like a fumble and he knew it.
-Oda never planned for Yamato to join and red herring ed way too hard
-Oda planned for Yamato to join but during his month break considered what that would do to pacing and number of obstacles needed per arc and changed his mind
-Oda always planned to leave Yamato there but then rejoin later, ala Jinbe, and just really really fumbled the delivery
-marketing told him that they needed to sell more towels
