Has anyone -either those directors or in this thread- done either of these things? Or is it purely extrapolated from their statements in bad faith? Statements given to MCU related questions in interviews and not like, adressed to a hall at comic con? Again, just because someone dislikes or even slams someone you like, its not the same as slamming you. Like, I've had countless friends and family members say they find things I like stupid, childish, whatever that doesn't mean I think they're dismissing me as stupid or positioning themselves as better than me.

Well sure its due to the system and the corporations behind it, but the MCU pretty much the avatar of said systems at the moment, so its understandable to direct your grievances at it - especially when asked directly.To offer a different example, in Denmark theres one soccer team that completely dwarves the rest because it has won so many times that it earns so much money that it can buy the best players so that it can keep winning all the time. Its a self-perpetuating loop that is a symptom of the system at large and not necessarily tied to that one team, but still, you can't really blame the other teamsand their fans for being annoyed at the big team, because its the one currently hoarding all the benefits of the wonky system while crushing everyone else.

It is of course an understandable reaction, I just think it shouldn't be a deciding factor in what your opinion of someone else and their work should be, as it seems to have triggered in this case.

Of course its fun with that happens, but if you want the thrill of a senior icon liking a thing you like, they should also be allowed to hate a thing you like. Thats only fair. And it means that the fun of someone sharing an interest is even greater if you know they're not mincing words- if your grampa says modern music is a piece of crap, all the more fun if he suddenly likes your current favorite band too, you know?

Yes, i'm aware that it is, but some of it comes of generic and there's a way to go about it. I watch Stargirl and i'm never bothered by it, but I just had to drop Naomi off what I suspect from Ms. Marvel.

I do hope they lean in on her view on religion. I like seeing things outside of Christianity represented.

Gotcha. I was curious if it was a first impression or something. I'm with you on seeing a Muslim character with their religion at the forefront represented.

We definitely saw scenes of the mosque and maybe some Pakistan images. So they aren't ignoring it.

Nah the mostly ditched the strechyness, there's a scene on the trailer were she straight up summons some form of crystalline shield against bullets.

Also, Parasite just really left a nice impression on me. The societal and economic criticisms of the work felt like such a pointed message that few mainstream films cover these days. The characters were all hilarious and corrupt in entertaining ways, too. I loved seeing their arcs unfold. Well, except for the part where Kim Ki-jung dies. Her vibe was so good!! Not to be a dirty bisexual but wow she was just cool. Also, Park Dong-ik!! Good lord, what a sexy, horrible, sexy man!!

A big problem with Marvel stuff is that it's so disposable. It's as disposable to me as a series from The CW and I don't even like to complain about The CW. I don't get the same sensory pleasure from it I did from watching Squid Game twice or a Kamen Rider series. Or heck, LOST (which, admittedly, really only gets back on its actors, story and music).

Marvel is the Pizza Hut of pizza. Greasy and empty and you wonder why you spent so much money on shitty pizza when if you had waited a little longer you could have gotten the good local place's pizza.

Having both movies that are artsy fun and movies that are just plain fun are important. We need all types, to show all sides of humans. Like I said, I love Wes Anderson, and also old classic movies like Inherit the Wind or 12 Angry Men. But I love my Marvel and DC too. They are all entertaining in their own ways.

What can be classified as "just fun" movies is a borad spectrum though, certainly broader than just Marvel/DC movies. Anything from 22 Jump Street to Speed Racer to even Mad Max fury Road could be considered "just" fun in a very immediately acessible way, yet are also very different, deliberately so.

And pertaining to this debate, the issue I think many have is that there is a comparatively narrow definition of what is currently considered fun, popular movie that are currently muscling out everything else; Blockbusters have of course usually dominated, but what franchises these blockbusters are from and what even could constitute a blocbbuster is wildly different now what it was before. Its pretty wild to see what qualifies as a sensation in 1990; adjusted for inflation, Ghost made 445 MILLION dollars in the US alone! That is insane!

But yeah, even doing a seperation of church and state of "artsy" movies and big special effects driven blockbuster "Fun" movies, I wish we could get more variety in the latter too, you know? I sometimes wonder "beyond the still-trucking comic book universes, what are the fresh new blockbuster hits that will get remade in 30 years, just like we are now remaking 80s and 90s stuff" and I'm drawing a blank at best, thinking "maybe the same properties that're getting remade now?" at worst.

My criticism is a broad spectrum criticism. Sure, I thought the May stuff or Dafoe's acting were really good. I loved seeing Garfield get his much deserved revenge, too. Generally-speaking, I think these movies and series aren't particularly good. Even shitty series and film can have great moments. The cinematography, coloring, special effects, editing, scripts, story themes, narrative structures and music for these films are still generally not particularly great.

The entire discussion (as perpetuated by industry figureheads) only exists because of the artificial limitations placed on art and art distribution in the first place. I don't particularly think that opinions should matter on art (i.e. I think both Martin Scorsese and those who oppose him should both take their millions and just fuck off) and the reason why art is limited in the first place has to do with how our society makes creating art of any caliber extremely inaccessible to the average person. I can hardly ever focus on my art (writing) because I have to work a shitty day job I hate and rarely have the energy or mental headspace left over to work on art. This is just one of countless barriers any creator of art faces and it's no small miracle that any sort of art is created at all.

Anyway, I think I forgot what my entire point was because ADHD but I hope the gest got across.

I always check out with those. I was spot-checking No Way Home earlier and felt like a lot of the effects looked really unfinished. They also don't have very nice timing or directing. Bare in mind, my gold standard is still Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete for CG animation. Or Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary. Those films still blow my in how the CG is used.

But Inhuman's are mixed race pink Kree's with humans. Kamala has a Kree ancestor hence she

Her Kree heritage is probably where those bracelets come from then. Maybe a combination of bracelet = power unlock. Maybe part of the series will be her learning to use her powers without the bracelet.

Netflix OP isn't Disney or Marvel's so they don't care about that, but yeah you'd think 3 FF4 movies would have given them an idea of what to do about stretchy powers.

Coppola is definitely a "push the boundaries" director, so he probably would like things like Eva, Akira, Berserk, or maybe Death Note.

Why am I not surprised? Could Sony just stop making live-action superhero movies? They just aren't very good at it and trying to build a whole movie universe/franchise only out of random Spider-Man villains was never a good idea to begin with. I would love to see characters like Kraven or Morbius as villains in a new Spider-Man movie, but why do they need to carry their own movie? I mean, there is a reason these guys don't have their own comic book series.

This might be the worst aspect of the MCU…that they inspired other studios to try to (badly) copy their formula and success.

A whole bunch of different X-Men have had their own comics briefly too but never been able to hold onto them for more than a miniseries at a time. Except for Wolverine, obviously.

Morbius is bad, but not as bad as I expected. Leto himself just isn't pulling it off most of the time, not sure if it's writing, direction or the man himself. Or all of it together.

Smith is fun at least.

There's some good scenes, action scenes and effects, but I hate those movement traces that are supposed to emulate Morbius' superhuman hearing.

You know, just try not to think too much of it.

Post credits are among the more confusing and skippable ones.
