With the possibility of Ulti and Page-One vs Usopp and Nami, I've realized that Sanji and Carrot vs Daifuku and Perospero would make absolute sense considering everything that happened in WCI.

- Kid and Law fighting Queen and King respectively, no real build-up, even in prison in Udon
Kid actually has good build-up for Queen since he's been tortured and held prisoner for weeks. Plus, both have been mentioned to have weapon designing as a hobby, so there's a ton of potential from a creative standpoint.
Plus, it's obvious Oda will give Kid an opponent to establish his power. He did the same at Punk Hazard by having one of Doflamingo' most important officers dealt with Law.

People keep bringing up Sanji and Perospero, but I don't see it. He has a blatant advantage against him due to his flames, it just wouldn't be a fun fight at all in terms of tension.

Would need to show a scene in which Kid shows the most animosity in regards to Queen which did not happen iirc. Kid was angry at Kaidou, Apoo and the ones who fed Killer the SMILE. In regards to weapons, Kid´s magnetism makes an opposite weapon user pretty useless, at least if he is half proficient in his ability, which seems to be the case.
Heck, Queen is handicapped due to his metal arm. There is a big difference between Vergo and Queen, in terms of power, status of the antagonists, symbolic value and so forth.

You mean like how Law had an advantage against Doflamingo because he could cut his strings, but that never ended up being the case? Or the entire Luffy vs. Enel fight?
Like, the biggest hurdle about Queen is that he can turn into a brachiosaurus, so even without weapons, he's still a massive danger.
-

This statement alone really just nails it all, Kid's not getting anything lower than a Calamity and we haven't seen him going full might yet.
Law's Mountain sized rooms, hawkins giant straw ghost and Bege's mighty castle are making me believe Kidd has a massive power yet to be shown, and doesn't feel like any of the Tobi Roppo would withstand the thing.

Law had a clear weakness in regards to that that has been shown against Smoker already, he needs time and space to apply his powers, tell me how that applies to Kid who can apply his power from any position and circumstance?
Luffy and Enel had a huge difference in power that was eradicated by the match-up advantage (similarly to Croc vs Luffy), you could see that with Enel taking care of everyone in seconds, including Wyper and Zoro, Kid and Queen play in the same field of power while one has a huge advantage over the other. With one limb being controlled by someone else the entire time.
I am not against Kid getting a fight to establish his power, i simply see no hint that that fight is predestined to be Queen.
-
Mecha vs Kaiju really is a must here. And while I had already pictured Queen's hybrid to absoluetly look like Godzilla/Gojira, especially since he's been given fangs for no apparent reason, it's worth notice that Godzilla actually gets to be colored as yellow in some vintage stuff;
The incredibly popular Pachimon cards, from the 70's; which is the most Queen-look alike thing u'll ever see.
Especially when Queen stand up like this in the anime;

I can't wait for him to make a really really really really reallly big fist to smash people with.

I'm still waiting for him to drain all the hemoglobin out of his enemies bodies, leaving everyone breathless.

I imagine a scene like where Magneto took a small piece of metal and just let it rip through his opponents at gigantic speed.
-

Oda is already busy keeping Law and Robin away from most situations considering how, technically, they are way too OP.
I would not hold my breath of him doing something like that. -
This all sounds way to complicated for captain dumbass.
Small metal fists punching people in the bloodstream maybe.
Put a fist in it and it passes the Kidd test.
-
All this talk of metal powers makes me think of Risotto from Jojo Part 5. Just imagine the size of the razor blades and scissors he could produce in Kaido and the Calamities.
Some graphic comic images below.

I'm picturing a giant version of the Robot he has on his child sketch.
And the anime playing Mazinger Z intro on it.

It's interesting that in a land world-famous for swordsmanship and introduced us to the other style of Busoshoku Haki, there hasn't been a peep about Zoro's Asura.
I kind of wonder if Oda has quietly dropped that from the series.

Well we've seen it twice in the comic. Narratively speaking there really hasn't been a place for it yet. Maybe this arc if Zoro gets pushed to his absolute limit against a Calamity or something.
-
Asura is just too weird of a powerup, so I wouldn't be surprised.
It also looks like a bitch to draw.
-
Hair stylists in Wano sure are doing great, seems like the arc with the most crazy hair colors ever.
-
Oda commented something about that, saying he wanted Wano to be colorful and using hairs for that, in contrast to feudal Japan which was known for having little color around.
-
We pretty much know the exact point where Oda decided Wano was going to be wacky multicolor land: While designing the cover of Volume 92.

The little pet theory I've been thinking about is the whole nine shadows thing. Clearly the Akazaya weren't it, and we've got Luffy certain to be at least on of them. With Kid, Zoro and Marco on the way, that makes me think we'll be seeing more characters arriving to bring that total up to nine. Real original, I know, but I think that with the trajectory of quite a few characters so far, it's starting to look plausible. The question is, who?
1. Luffy - 5th floor in 999, roof in 1000. That seems to be pretty clear.
2. Zoro - Getting that ride with Marco. It looks like Robin and Brook might tag along, but with King and Queen still guarding the hole, someone has to stop them. I think Brook will handle King and Robin will fight Queen, leaving Zoro to do as he said and go against Kaido.
3. Marco - Giving Zoro that ride, and a very powerful fighter.
4. Kid - Ahead of Luffy, and definitely capable of making it all the way.
5. Law - Can use his fruit power to easily skip floors, and if Kid makes it up there, Law should be able to.Now it gets murkier. With the island set to fall and most of the Straw Hats preoccupied, there are very few characters who can get up there in time. but here are my guesses:
6. Yamato - He's pretty far from the roof, but there's the Zoan power we've yet to see (T-Rex?), and there's Momo to consider. If Momo can use his clouds to make a path for Yamato to go up, that takes care of the height problem. Whether Momo tags along and becomes one of the nine is another matter. It's not clear if only he can hop on his own clouds, so he might be required to give Yamato a lift, but it'd be pretty dangerous.
7. Killer - Tagging with Kid, and relatively on par with Zoro. Personally speaking, not really feeling it, but realistically, there aren't a whole lot of options.
8. Carrot - It's my belief that Carrot will be convinced to leave Perospero to Wanda so she can jump to the roof and join the fight against Kaido. The dawn was Pedro's dream, and if anyone should be part of the nine shadows that heralds it, Carrot should be.
9. Big Mom - The biggest long shot by far, and it all hinges on the idea of Kaido's that pirates are doomed to betray each other. If something happens on that roof to break their trust in each other and their alliance, then it's possible she would join in the cause for revenge's sake. A long shot, but again, not seeing many other ways to hit nine. -
From my perspective, ever since their reintroduction in the Wano Kuni Arc, it has been seemingly apparent who the nine shadows that will eventually defeat Kaido will be.
I mean, ever since this groups introduction, they have been portrayed as individuals who will challenge the age and its players. And through their expressions of freedom, define a new age.
There is relevance to having 8 of them now present on Onigashima Island. There is relevance in Oda building up the arc to force the members to eventually all go against the Beast Pirates. There is relevance in these 8 pirates challenging the New World after the events from two years ago. If it isn't obvious who these characters are, they are members of the Worst Generation. Luffy, Zoro, Law, Kid, Killer, Drake, Hawkins and Apoo. And would you look at that, all we need is 8 more shadows to challenge Kaido because one shadow has already been challenging Kaido for the past twenty years - Yamato.
Ever since Oda revealed Drake's true allegiance, he has been slowly constructing scenario's to eventually compel the members of the Worst Generation allied with the Beast Pirates to go against the Beast Pirates. Just look at what happened with Apoo. Why would he write Apoo into such a situation? Why would he give Apoo a reason to turn against the Beast Pirates? Why would he now have Apoo's only chance of survival to be allying with the rebellion against the Beast Pirates? Apoo is an individual who concerns himself with his self-interest and if allying with the Beast Pirates is no longer an option but the source of the danger he is facing, he will without hesitation cut his loses and turn against them.
The only member of the Worst Generation present on Onigashima Island that has yet to have focus given to their reversal of allegiance is Hawkins. But we all know that such an act is only a matter of time away. The fates will eventually shift in favour of the Straw Hat Pirates and Momonosuke. And for an individual guided by fate, it is obvious which side they will stand when fate demands it so. Or we could have a subversion of action where Hawkins goes against fate to stand on the side of his desires. Drake already stated that Hawkins isn't following Kaido by choice. Drake even urged Hawkins to entertain the thought of betraying the Beast Pirates. It is only a matter of time for Apoo and Hawkins to fully renounce their allegiance to the Beast Pirates (Drake may end up convincing Apoo to side with the Straw Hat Pirates in order to survive).
What happened in Totto Land with Bege (and Urouge off-screen) challenging Big Mom will happen again in Wano Kuni. The Worst Generation members and Yamato will challenge Kaido. These nine will embody the nine shadows Toki prophesized.
-
I like the theory of them being the Worst Gen, but instead of Yamato, why not SobaMask?
And yeah, things are getting suspicious with Apoo, and always been with Hawkins since he has cards that literally recommend him what to do best.
I'm still thinking Hawkins is the one to save Sanji also.
-
With Queen distracted by the dome events, there’s only Hawkins and Jack in the tower to stop Luffy, Killer and Kid.
I don’t see Hawkins changing sides anymore. The heroes will win despite the odds, and he will choose to side with who appears to be winning.

Why wouldn't the cards tell him Luffy's gon win?
-
Hawkins never really changes sides. He always goes where the fates guide him.
If the fates point Hawkins in the direction against the Beast Pirates, I don't see the issue. He is behaving consistent to how he has been written since the start.
As for who saves Sanji…I would prefer it to be Sanji who saves himself but if it is to be another character, why not Caribou? Those swamp powers can help in getting rid of the fodder Headliners/SMILE Fruit users.
-
The 9 shadows being mostly supernovas is problematic for me. I mean, then what about Jewelry Bonney, Capone Bege and Urouge ? How will they properly shine after being outshined during this very important event ? Okay, Capone had proper exposition during the last arc and we know that Urouge defeated Snack. But that's nothing compared to defeating a yonkou and creating a bond between 8 of the worstgen supernovas.
Capone Bege tried to kill Bigmom and worked under her for a year or so. Urouge defeated Snack and crossed path with Kaido. They both needed to be here ! But now it's too late for the both of them to show up. That'd be way too fortunate -
I think the shadows are just the strawhats. The parallel of Oden and his 9 sccabards and Luffy and his nine crewmates always seemed really strong to me.
Like , it's the only thing that actually make sense to me. A miscellaneous group of random characters that will only act as a group for this one thing would be pretty weird for a prophecy like this imo.
-
It would also be weird to have pretty shifty characters like Apoo and Hawkins who have absolutely no emotional connection to anybody in Wano to end the arc as the big heroes whose coming was foretold in a prophecy and who will release Wa no Kuni from darkness. It feels quite random.
I mean, sure, they might switch sides and do some cool stuff, but I just don't feel like they are being set-up to play such an important role in the climax of the arc. The Strawhats (and Law) are at least friends with the Samurai, know about Oden's history etc.
-
At least Apoo and Hawkins didn't destroy Amigasa Village.
-
Why wouldn't the cards tell him Luffy's gon win?
Because the cards tell the odds, and the odds will be stacked against Luffy. Hawkins will see the tiny chance of Luffy winning and ignore that possibility, but, in the end, Luffy will win despite the odds.
-
At least Apoo and Hawkins didn't destroy Amigasa Village.
Hey man those orphans had it coming
-
At least Apoo and Hawkins didn't destroy Amigasa Village.
Wait until we find out Drake saved those people somehow.
-
Considering Luffy's ability to turn enemies into allies has been highlighted since the start of the series, it seems natural to have characters such as Apoo and Hawkins who don't follow the Beast Pirates out of loyalty of belief eventually become allies to defeat a Yonko. Look at Kid, one of Luffy's strongest rivals yet that isn't stopping him from working alongside Luffy even if Kid doesn't want to admit so.
It initially seemed weird to me to have Bege team up with the Straw Hat Pirates, yet that is what Oda did. The Worst Generation don't have to enter into a long-term alliance like Law, all that need to happen is for their intentions to align and be directed toward Kaido, which is exactly what Oda has been writing the Worst Generation toward. After Kaido is defeated, they can go on continuing being rivals and expressing their own definition of piracy.
!
The Supernovas introduced two years ago were set-up as characters who will challenge and define the new age. All of those characters were represented in the same group as Luffy and Zoro. This is why focus has been given to alliances being set-up among Supernovas instead of other random powerful pirates since the start of the New World. This is also why Oda has had the Eleven Supernovas constantly challenging the major powers within the New World - Bege and Urouge against the Big Mom Pirates, Bonney against the World Government/Tenryuubito, Kid/Killer/Hawkins/Apoo against Kaido initially, Law being the one to introduce the proposal of entering into an alliance with the Straw Hat Pirates and challenging Kaido. Too much focus has been given to the Worst Generation members standing against the major powers of the New World - Yonko, Marines, World Government, Tenryuubito - to not have it culminate in this arc against the first Yonko [enemy] that will be defeated. I don't really see the Worst Generation members standing against a Yonko as random. It feels natural to me.Eight are now present on Onigashima Island. And then there is Yamato whose representation as a shadow that will defeat Kaido has been developed as an inevitability given the past 16 chapters.
Urouge will have his moment to shine in the Elbaf Island Arc whose people are deeply tied to the secrets of the world and with Sky Islands also seemingly being intimately connected to Elbaf (Shanks may be relevant in this arc as well). Bonney will inevitably be reintroduced again (alongside Sabo?) and we already know she has reasons to fight the World Government/Tenryuubito. Additionally Bonney may also be tied into the arc that features Dr. Vegapunk. Bege has already attempted to assassinate Big Mom and may end up being included again when Big Mom is ultimately defeated. To me it appears the set-up for the three Supernovas not present on Onigashima are already at a point where they will have their own moments to shine in future story arcs.
Each and every single member of the Eleven Supernovas will be influential in defeating major powers within the New World. There is a reason Oda had had all 11 members (12 including Teach) present on and near Marineford during Whitebeard's defeat, the man who defined the age that ended on that very day. Rather than being witnesses to an historic event, they will now define it through their actions.
!
I don't see the Straw Hat Pirates embodying the nine shadows as ten would in fact be required. It also ignores Yamato's presence and relevance completely. Yamato WILL be part of the shadows that defeat Kaido, that is how Oda has been writing and setting up Yamato's character and role within this arc. There is also the matter of the potential 11th Straw Hat Pirate (10th crew member) that may also be relevant to this arc where the Straw Hat Pirates defeat their first Yonko Pirate crew. If another character does join along with Jinbe, having all the "Straw Hat Pirates" fight Kaido wouldn't fit the prophecy (not enough shadows).Unless…we get Pirates DOCKING in all its gloriousness, magnificence and sheer epicness. Dam...that would be amazing. Pirates Docking VS Kaido. GG Kaido.
!
-
Because the cards tell the odds, and the odds will be stacked against Luffy. Hawkins will see the tiny chance of Luffy winning and ignore that possibility, but, in the end, Luffy will win despite the odds.
he didn't ignore that Luffy was going to survive Marineford, in fact he checked repeatedly. I bet that's what he's doing right now, becaue he still can't believe the Odds are favoring Luffy, so he's making sure before witching sides.
-
I have the theory that the 1% chance on survival Hawkins mentioned is Luffy's. But that Hawkins will actually turn because those chances are actually astronomically higher than they should. This man just showed up and declared war on two Yonko. By all means it should be zero, and the fact that isn't is what Hawkins was taking note of (like he already did in Marineford). Drake was wrong in assuming that was a bad omen.
Remember, Hawkins bowed to Kaido because he had no chance of survival otherwise, not because his chances were too small.
-
I also want Hawkings to switch sides, but he could have an interesting fight first, against Brooke, for example. I miss the Survival Game in Skypiea, in which the strawhats fought against future allies like Brahm and Wiper. The story made it very clear that they would become friends, but allowed them to show cool moves against the heroes anyway. I want that for Hawkings, but maybe that already happened in Act 1

This post is deleted!

You know, I didn't register that Who's Who's mask was a big deal until chapter 998. Like, it's not weird for One Piece, at all. Garp wore one until he took it off. Franky had one, which I guess was for the carnival at the time. Even Yamato had one, and he didn't even wear that mask in that flashback! People wear masks in One Piece all the time, so I never saw it as something significant.
-
I'm thinking that Yamato is the dog in the Momotaro analogy. Those teeth would fit, and if we assume Luffy is the monkey and Marco is the pheasant, all 3 would share a connection with Ace, as very clearly illustrated in 999.
-

That makes sense… but which dog?
-
I dunno, a dire wolf or something if he has a prehistoric zoan, or some mythical japanese canine creature (I don't know enough to make a guess) if she has a mythical. And god knows what if that whole deal with the teeth is something completely different (but I doubt it now that Kadio's fruit has been established).
-
That actually makes Komayicho look like a huge red flag.
Yeah, I want that now.
-
That actually makes Komayicho look like a huge red flag.
Yeah, I want that now.
Well, Oda is just recycling the same legend throughout the manga, and it was obvious that Tama and Momo were both referencing the tale of Momotaro.
Tama, who has a dango ability (the same food that Momotaro gave to animals), has a dog (Komachiyo), a monkey (Hihimaru) and a pheasant (???).
Momonosuke, who shares a similar name to Momotaro, has a monkey (Luffy), a pheasant (Marco?) and a dog (Yamato?).
Btw, Sengoku had a monkey (Kizaru), a dog (Akainu) and a pheasant (Aokiji).
-
There are not that many prehistoric dogs that would work for ancient, not without making Jyabura pointless.
Dire wolves were essentially grey wolves in size. Not very exciting.
There's also the Epicyon, but that's a bit too obscure. Not Black Maria the Rosamygale-level obscure, but still a bit out there.
-
I think Oda should have had Drake be soon to join the Tobi Roppo, and have one more among them. That way, the less stronger 6 Straw Hats could have had a clear fight each with them.
Oh well.
-
I'm not believing Jack is "down" or anyone is in their "final fight" until I see everyone's hybrid form when it comes to the Zoan users. I feel like Black Maria and Usopp fit each other more, but if it's Page One and Ulti vs Usopp n Nami, that works out too. Since the return, i've seen Usopp and Nami paired together more vs the fake SH Pirates and Buffalo and Baby 5. If this is Usopp's fight, maybe he has armor like Heracles or maybe just a helmet with some kind of Sogeking callback.
I still think Apoo and Brook might match up. The antidote chase was boring. Zoro got serious for 2 seconds (and the art quality got dramatically better out of nowhere lol), Marco wasn't too far away and Chopper had it figured out. It feels like no matter what Queen does, there's no urgency involved. Almost like he wants the BP to fall.
Queen did raise my attention when he mentioned Judge. My speculation has been that Queen worked with Judge, VP, and Lindbergh, possibly others. I don't believe Sanji vs Black Maria is a thing. Nope, not falling for it. Especially when I strongly feel like Marco can't keep Queen and King like that for long.
It's a super stretch, but
- Research Team - Judge, VP, Queen, Linbergh
- Warden - Magellan
- Jailers - King and Shiryu
- Lab rat/prototype for the Beast Jailers - Kaido
- Morley's ability was used to breakout
Raizo's DF and the fish fish DF being mentioned were some of my favorite moments. I want to know more about that scroll. It might be able to contain anything, but is there a time limit to it? Not too many characters dropping as many big bombs as BM is in the last 2 arcs. I expect a lot of exposition from her during this chaos.
This fish fruit mess reminds me of Magikarp and Gyarados.
I didn't like the Marco flashback concerning Kaido and Wano. I get it, but it feels so weak. "Less people die if the WB Pirates stay out of it". WB's comment was funny tho. He ended up taking out a couple big shots. The way he said it wasn't even baleful because we all know it wasn't meant for them and it just went that way in the end.
I'm also getting tired of Oda spamming his love for some of these SMILE users. It's funny, but exhausting. I want to see the Gifters that can transform because they are more interesting than the ones with permanent growths. I think the guy with the helmet is like Sheepshead and Ginrummy who can morph parts of their body. I put Ginrummy in that category because I see no visible growth on her.
If anything is more annoying than the Gifters being spammed, it's the Ace stuff. Oh, God, let me enjoy the manga. It's like reading Boruto and Naruto being squeezed into it every other panel. I get it, Luffy is the chosen 1 and you were 1 of the first to see it, want a cookie? I don't care for Yamato damaging that random dragon figure either. The only decent part is Ace not remembering Cavendish's name correctly.
The Ancient Zoans!!!!!!!Sasaki's was the most predictable and Who's Who was more predictable than Black Maria. She has the best Ancient fruit so far. Thank you Oda. The reveal for Who's Who felt like a Hanna-Barbera drawing. I forgot the name of the cartoon with the cats in the alley just hanging out like it's the 1930s. Feels like 1 of Oda's old cover request could've been a bunch of cats in a cafe. Might have to go back n check. Why is Black Maria coming out of her Zoan beast? It looks so cool, I don't even care for now. I know there will be some explanation
When Yamato almost transformed. Wow. Might be a dog zoan or did Kaido give the fish fish to him???
The 2 Sword Style flashback was cute. As Kaido said "it is too shallow" and that is what I think of that. The Scabbards vs Kaido had run it's course. Kiku losing an arm is just the beginning. I feel like 1 will die. I am not sure about 1 thing tho. Did Luffy just walk pass BM and Kaido or did he do like some speed movement toward Kinemon? It felt like he calmly just walked between them, but i'm uncertain. It's not a big deal, just looking for clarity. I want to see that in the anime badly, either way. Luffy gave me this Goku just arrived feeling when he went to Kin.
Last time I was reading, I was curious if Fukurokuju was going towards Orochi or not. Maybe the Scabbards get to fight more with 1% strength that they have left or more than likely, Orochi sends the Oniwabanshu and Mimawarigumi at the Beast Pirates. Everything the Beast pirates do recently is alienating the Wano residents whether friend or foe.
I think I like Apoo. The way he was knocking the door so casually like "i'm done with this" was hilarious. It's so chaotic and dysfunctional, I wouldn't want any parts of that either. Now that Zoro has him out for a while, he might wake up to even more chaos if my Orochi speculation becomes real.
It may never be addressed again, but I wonder if the times that Pedro is referring to is post Rocks crew. It's implied that Marco was 1 of the first WB Pirates or at least as we know of their MF War version and Perospero is BM's first born. Maybe he is referring those days as rivals or it could be when they were both Rocks. There might be something to easily cancel out Marco being around for the Rocks Pirates and i'm forgetting it. That would make Marco 11 or 12 and Pero around 17 in that crew, so it might just be post Rocks.
Apoo's tonfas are a nice touch and fits his design. It had to be planned a while ago. How impatient does Oda get when he wants to reveal these things at an appropriate time, but it's so cool and he wants to share it badly?
I loved when Nami said Luffy wouldn't stop until he's PK. It wasn't as generic as the usual nakama saying he'd be PK. It's Nami's own way and perfect.
No update on Law or Kid's crew. Don't sleep on Sulong Bepo. Plenty of opponents to share. Especially with Franky, Sanji and Jinbe being outnumbered. Everyone is as well, but whatever.

I'm actually pretty annoyed by Oda that in an arc filled with Zoans, and the prior arc about Giantifcation, not once has Chopper's Rumble Balls been brought up as something the baddies would be interested in.

I mean they'd have to know it'd exist to begin with lol, never got why people ever thought this was a realistic plotline that could happen
