I didn't knew Persona 5 and Octopath Traveler were such old games.
Still wish they gave Cloud a single masculine facial trait.
Didn't they reveal at some point that it was going to be released in multiple episodic parts? Did they scrap that, or is the release date just for part 1?

Still parts .
I'll buy the full version on PS5 in 2022

Given how little they've shown, I'd be amazed if the full version is done by then.
It really really looks like they've only done the starting area from the first 10 minutes of the game… and most of those assetts were in the trailers four years ago. If they had anything else, like Tifa or Red XIII, or literally any area past that segment or on the overworld, you'd think they'd show it.
Though maybe if they reuse the hell out of FF15's assetts for overworld it'll be okay. All the mountains and trees and chocobos and water and stuff they can reuse I would think. If they actually did that sane thing though, no telling.
They really should have done this a couple gens back when they could have gotten away with reusing all the stuff from Crisis Core.
I didn't knew Persona 5 and Octopath Traveler were such old games.
Them and Bravely series are outdated relics.
Episodic action RPGs that needed to change development hands throughout its dev lifetime with questionable added value from the action system is where it's at now
The ghosts around Aerith are Sephiroth Clones
I'm pretty sure episode 1 will just cover the Midgar portion of the game (I also theorize that episode 2 will cover Kalm to the Whirlwind Maze and episode 3 will be everything after Meteor is summoned) I bet we'll see Tifa at E3 and Red XIII later in the year. There also seems to be a lot of extrapolation going on here so I'm interested in seeing just what those dementors are going to be.
Oh well, that's a little better. That's at least the first few hours of the game now. And Tita is in it after all.
Still not a whole lot of the overall game tho. I don't care till we get doggo.
ANd Sweitch is getting hte good version of DQ 11 with the full orchestra and retro graphics huh? SUcks that I already plowed through the PS4 one. Also I see they're not bothering to spoil tag the last party member anymore.

Red is more of a cat, no?
Red definitely a wolf variant.
I am now willing to concede the possibility this might be good.
Red is more of a cat, no?
Nanaki has moves that involve howling and the moon. He's a wolf.
Cait sith is a cat. On a moogle. Sort of.
Cait Sith is by far the character I most want to see in this overblown hyper realism style.
Give me HD Cait Sith with the overwrought indistinct gaelic accent.
They’re gonna have to put a lot of extra stuff in Midgar if it’s two full blurays.

Not really. Make it graphically intense enough and it eats space fast, especially if they're planning on it being super HD 4K.
ANd they don't have to fill two blurays to warrant using two. One disk is 50 gigs, but if they go over that at all, they'd still need to do 2 disks, and a lot of the stuff on the second disk would be redundancies from the first.
The entire second disc is just the textures for Cloud's dress.
Caith Sith is going to be like the smash 4 greninja substitute doll.
Final Fantasy VIII … finally. God damn did we have to wait for that one. And the new character models look so great! It's probably nostalgia because it was my first FF and i loved it when i was young but it's still my favourite of the series.

Maybe you'll be able to go into all of Midgard instead of just two sectors. Easy way to add content; though it may bug people who want to get into the Sephiroth stuff relatively quickly so I dunno.
A good friend of mine loves this game too much, I've trying to play it but the SNES version always lost me in the way. He's hyped right now.

Well over in the general E3 thread I embarrassed myself by complaining about them never porting the actual sequel. I assumed this was a new game, whatevers.
but remake of 2? Cool.
Golden Saucer is an entirely separate game.
@Cyan:
Golden Saucer is an entirely separate game.
I think you mean"paid DLC".
They nailed the FFVII spirit, I like all the new character models for the protagonists. Tifa's in particular has seen a spike of art featuring her.

I didn't knew Persona 5 and Octopath Traveler were such old games.
For FF it has been for a long time.
Its definitely better, no question, and it'd be silly to expect them to do anything on the level of the FF7 remake but… why are the character models still really jaggy in places? Especially the shoulders and elbows? (Made more prominent by every single female character wearing a shoulder baring outfit) They redid them from scratch so...
Is it so they match the rest of the game?
I find Heideggers new look to be extremely worrying.
Backing up a bit: One of the unsung key strengths of FFVII is its tone. Despite its bleak themes and often grimscenarios, it is also an extremely colorful game with a pulpy aesthetic and a wacky sense of humor; its the kind of game where Barret gets a cute sailor suit, where Hojo gets a tan at the beach, where Barret will punch people into the screen, where Cloud can pirouette like a puppet during a stage show…and its a game featuring Heidegger, an obese, gruff, complete caricature of a man. I can't think of a single scene featuring him where he isn't a guffawing cartoon villain.
And here he's just a completely plain, stoic-looking Army Official guy. Combined with the decidedly more pedestrian looking Midgar, it just looks like part of the originals soul has been lost in the pursuit of SERIOUS REALISM. It feels like the video game equivalent of The Lion King (2019)
There's a lot of stuff that's surely going to be lost. Like Mr. Dolphin. And I have noooo idea how they'll handle the Cloud in a dress buisness. That's a super popular moment so they probably need to include it, but.. all the mini quests stuff around it like the hot tub of burly pornstache men and Cloud needing to do squats? That's going to be…. weird in photorealism.
Probably no missile-launching demon houses and weird half-man, half-Chopper monsters either. It just looks so very, very serious; and the original game covered plenty of serious ground, don't get me wrong, but filtering the fantastical story and characters through a fantastical lens made me more invested than if it had strived for "Gritty Photorealism". Again, like the Lion King.
Watch Square make all that stuff even more disturbing.
Have you guys already forgotten about the infamous event at Shinra HQ that turned the plot upside down and gave people nightmares for days? With the level of realism games have today I expect that shit to be downright horrifying. Just look at the remake of RE2 for reference.
What did I just watch?
Hannibal Buress is my spirit animal.
Okay this is probably a stupid question but here goes….the FF7 remake is PS4 only right? No Xbox One version?
Okay this is probably a stupid question but here goes….the FF7 remake is PS4 only right? No Xbox One version?
PS4 as far as anyone knows.

PS4, with insiders and rumors saying it will come to the PC later.
PS4, with the second part for PS5 and the third part for PS6.
This supposed controversy is stupid. When they said "restrict" they didn't mean what many youtuber shitposters being attention whores were claiming.
Well I guess Square came out and said FF7R is not coming to Xbox One….sucks for me.
I kind of wouldn't mind if they left the entire game graphically identical to the original and just changed up a few of the gameplay elements and just added more content. I feel like 99% of my wish list for changes and/or additions to the game would not be fulfilled by the way they're handling this remake. Plus if it's not even the complete game yet, it's going to be done in chapters, that just makes it sound worse.
There is a trailer coming out soon.

Hey, footage from past the first ten minutes of the game! Finally!
Still all within the first couple hours, but its an improvement. We see an actual second room!
Sounds like that's Mark Hamil as the Don.
Summons work like KH.

This hot take ran out of HP three months ago.
Man, I'm excited for this! Frog status! Don Corneo! Umm… new Soldier? Okay..
All I need is to see Red and I'm sold.

No hot take, this is literally the first trailer to show anything past the starting area. I'm happy for there to finally be ANYTHING else beyond what we first saw like four years ago. I'm finally convinced they're maybe actually making a game that might be out in the next decade..
(And yes, I know they put a release date for the first part out a few months ago. I'm talking about the ACTUAL game being finished, not just the first part.)
