Either he's the supreme commander that stands above the sweet commanders or he's Lord Potato starch. He's definitely hot shit it's why he's not been reintroduced yet.
Or he's just a strong fighter in her crew, like Pekoms & Tamago..

So Zeus and Promethius are most likely the Sun and Cloud homies that have been seen with Big Mom on two occations trying to chastise her in the second appearance.
Sanji is using harsh language, but this is almost certainly a was to convey a message to Luffy and Nami. Everyone seems to be quick to jump on the similarities with the Robin situation, but what if Sanji is using the similar circumstances to show Luffy and Nami he is lying through his teeth. He went through the whole ordeal with Robin, maybe he is trying to emulate her actions before she left. Remember, Sanji and Chopper were the ones who ran into her when she gave a similar (yet less scathing) goodbye
they've been together for years now. sanji isn't even a new member like robin was back then..he should know that luffy won't leave the island. fake tension and bad chapter.
Not really. Only a few months actually.
!
So, those two could be Zeus and Prometheus.
That's quite possible. Although Pound's tale Shows them "more-badass-lookin", it could really be those 2 homies. Remember how Barto imagined Tsuru and Sengoku and how the 2 really look like.

For me it is a given hint, that Sanji is lying, just because he speaks totally differently (like a Monarch?). Luffy usually falls for psycho-tricks, but he is also stubborn regarding his nakamas (especially his 1st-class cook). Luffy would never Abandon him.
When Sanji said "read between the lines", I felt like back at the 3D2Y-"riddle". All you hobby-detectives, solve the riddle of what Sanji said and what Sanji meant.
Looks like weakness for women runs in the family somewhat. Lol at Niji drooling instantly.
This was all a little forced, but I'll reserve my judgment until next chapter. Sanji is clearly blabbering his mouth off so Luffy and Nami have no doubt he's faking it. Sanji should know full well what Luffy is like when he sets his mind. Wasn't Sanji there when they destroyed EL trying to take back another member who was forced to leave?
This is most likely a stalling tactic in hopes that Luffy can lay low for a while. At the same time, convincing his family he's going to play ball can only be beneficial to his position. Best to wait it out before calling shitty writing.
Anyways, regarding sun and cloud, not sure what else can it be but some flames and steam with souls. We've seen living doors, ffs. But unlike some solid objects, flames and steam aren't exactly limited in that regard. Flames can spread by burning oxygen if nothing else. And heat can help create more steam, so the cloud can grow bigger. With a little manipulation, you suddenly have a big storm. Frankly, Nami has pulled less credible stuff pre time skip.
Big Mom controlling the weather is an interesting step. Presumably she uses her DF to manipulate it in the same way Nami uses her climatact, which makes a face off between the two of them an interesting possibility.
I wonder if Big Mom spent any time in Weatheria when she was younger.
What a nice color spread.
The one thing that kinda confuses me is how Big Mom's DF even works. Controlling the essences/souls of people for life was one thing, but now weather? I suppose it stacks up to a very generalized nature devil fruit but I worry that it kinda has the same problem as Hancock's or Viola's fruit - there's too much it can do and it doesn't feel focused.
Perhaps that weather related power itself is related to soul manipulating ability.May be she utilised souls of DF users.
As much as Sanji's situation mirrors Nami and Robin, it's not quite the same - here we know of the turmoil before hand, whereas with the latter cases, the reader didn't know the story as to why they were suddenly being so cold and distant. You can clearly see the guilt and grief on Sanji's face as Luffy approaches, he wants to go back to them but he can't just yet, and he's also thinking about Zeff and the Baratie as well.
Luffy isn't biting, and I wager Nami will be savvy enough to guess next chapter?
It is same whether we know beforehand or not, particularly with Nami's case. And Robin had far tougher situation than those two. After all these year if Sanji really has to play 'damsel in distress'(if indeed he has no 'plan'),then his character loses credibility in my eye.Yeah,we all know Luffy will beat some senses to him sooner or later, and all will be well. But was this cliche really needed?Having near and dear one being threatened, pretending to quit, saved by friends -we have already gone through it.Oda could have easily made Sanji's story different.
I agree thar the execution is what really counts, but I still feel that the whole straw hat is blackmailed into doing one biding by having a death threat on those he hold dear can be done only a certain amount of times before losing effect.
I also think Sanji could have been more subtle and less harsh, all of the Mr.Prince's action were very subtle, I think he has a plan to relay a message to Luffy and Nami i just didn't like the way it started. And, for some completely different all the Vinsmoke brothers showed the heart eyes upon seeing Nami. I wonder if it's a side effect of genetic modification.

I was surprised by Ichiji doing it as well, that was a big shock lol
I think Zeus and Prometheus are a cloud and a sun homies, probably she can change the characteristic of a homie's soul if she wants.

Btw, has anyone else expected a more… Sanji-centric chapter, considering the title?
Btw, has anyone else expected a more… Sanji-centric chapter, considering the title?
Since the main zinger of the chapter was the "declaration of being a Crap-Prince" It's only fitting. Since this was a chapter on the heels of a break, it's not surprising Oda'd recap a little
I think my favorite thing about this arc by far has been seeing the scenery react to things
shoutouts to that one hill that just couldn't give a shit about Cracker plowing through the place
Lets see now, Big Mom's abilities:
1 - Whether control.
2 - Soul manipulation.
3 - Some use of stomach acid…
I just don't know.
Sanji's words actually almost brought a tear to my eye especially seeing Nami's reaction. We and the crew know it's all lies but Nami surely understands that something must really be wrong for him to talk like that. This act isn't for Luffy and Nami, this performance Sanji is putting on his for his family.
With this chapter title and later Sanji in the clear I'm certain we'll get a "Straw Hat Pirate Black Leg Sanji" chapter.
If it will be real fight between sanji and our captain
I'm sure sanji will blown away,,,
But, sanji as I know is smart
I think he already has an idea to escape the wedding
Oh my god the names. The commanders all have such perfect names.
Lord potato starch might be the best villain name ever.
they've been together for years now. sanji isn't even a new member like robin was back then..he should know that luffy won't leave the island. real tension and good chapter.
Fixed it. You can thank me later.
So snack was the brawler, the muscleman, since he lost to the damage amplifier smileyface.
And the cracker was a manipulator. So what does that leave for the starch and the smoothie?
Smoothie sounds like a logia. But i dunno if berry juice is a natural element.
Okay Sanji, now you have to put a portrait of yourself on the "Hall of the Crewmates who once fought against Luffy".
So, Big Mom has amazing weather control powers that seem unrelated to her Devil Fruit, or at least what we've seen of it. Nami's interest has been piqued. We haven't seen Nami's thief side come out in some time. Who wants to bet that those powers end up in her hands? Either they're Homie-powered, and controllable by the Vivre Card, or…
Prometheus and Zeus are actually the Ancient Weapon Uranus.
I like Sanji's BS better than Robin's honestly. Robin was really frustrating because we hadn't seen her flashback yet and the reason why she turned herself in (to save the Straw Hats from a Buster Call) was never touched upon that much. But I could tell pretty well why Sanji is acting the way it is, and why him being rescued will just make things worse instead of better.
Also, pretty sure Zeus and Prometheus are cloud and sun homies like we saw in the earlier parts of the arc.
Either he's the supreme commander that stands above the sweet commanders or he's Lord Potato starch. He's definitely hot shit it's why he's not been reintroduced yet.
Hmm, I dunno.
It seems weird that Big Mom would be going on about how big a deal it is for her 3 commanders to be brought together if there was also a supreme commander above them.
It would also be strange for her to refer to Bobbin by a whole different name than when she greeted him previously, no?
I think Bobbin's gonna end up being a midcarder when it comes to the Big Mom Pirates.
More important than delivery boys like Pekoms/Tamaga and less important than the 3 commanders.
This is what I'm hoping for. It also makes sense what with Luffy brushing it off and talking about his own "tantrums", as if he is already aware that weather control is a thing. (or I suppose it could just be him being an idiot as usual)
Or it could be what loledinmypants is talking about, but I'm really hoping for some conquerors haki to be brought into play at this point. We've been waiting so long for a proper explanation.
Still hoping we see something from him. I doubt Oda just introduced him without having him play a larger role. Maybe he's her right hand man?
I imagine he'll come around again and play a part in the story, yeah.
However, for the reasons I outlined when replying to Dranza, I now think he's a middle of the road type of crew member.
This is going to be the Emperor Fight pattern:
-Sanji vs Potato (poele à frire is to cook potatoes)
-Chopper vs Smoothie
-Nami, Brook, Luffy vs Big Mom:
1- Big Mom attack with weather–-> Nami helps to change the weather and Luffy attacks
2- Big Mom attacks with soul power---> Brook transforms into soul and takes back Luffy soul and "power" and Luffy attacks
3- Luffy attacks with Haki and Big Mom protects her with Haki
4- Repeat the pattern until they win
Remember my words.
If it will be real fight between sanji and our captain
I'm sure sanji will blown away,,,But, sanji as I know is smart
I think he already has an idea to escape the wedding
If there'll be a real fight, I wonder if Luffy will fight back against Sanji. On one hand, he doesn't buy whatever crap Sanji is spouting so he'll probably remain stubborn and try to still talk with Sanji. On the other, Sanji is really strong, it'll be trouble if Luffy just takes everything.
I imagine Sanji's brothers will be in awe though on how powerful Sanji is as he's thrashing the place.
Btw, has anyone else expected a more… Sanji-centric chapter, considering the title?
I definitely did but I guess it had to do with the speech he gave. Prince Sanji would work or Lowly peaseants.
Still better than Maynar the Pursuer.
The big difference between Sanji and Robin/Nami's situation is they didn't believe in Luffy.
In Nami's case she was legitimately betraying them for their money. She didn't believe in Luffy because she had her own plans and never really allied herself with the Strawhats.
Robin on the other hand was looking out for the Strawhats and didn't want them to get crushed by the WG and CP9 for her sake. She didn't believe Luffy and co. could take on the WG and tried to spare them.
Sanji however is in a situation where the things he cares most about are at stake regardless of how much he believes in Luffy it won't stop his hands getting blown off or Big Mom's omniscient assassins killing Zeff. He's not doing this to protect Luffy and co he knows they could escape but it's not worth the price he'd have to pay if he does.
This is the CP9/Enies Lobby Arc all over again…
If the sun and cloud homies are supposed to be real ones, Where the hell did Big Mom find a sun?
Either he's the supreme commander that stands above the sweet commanders or he's Lord Potato starch. He's definitely hot shit it's why he's not been reintroduced yet.
I really like Bobbins for a character that has only had two panels, but he might be the commander Urogue beat or like the other poster said, just a strong higher up in Big Mom's crew. Personally I'm hoping your right in some way, but we'll see.

I hope not, but it seems to be the situation currently (or he is the commander that lost to Urogue like I said previously).
Just a quick thought: what have Greek God names been associated with so far in One Piece?
Yep. Ancient weapons.
So maybe (just maybe) Zeus and Prometheus are sort of "minor ancient weapons" or something like this.

Oh wow Sanji's eyebrows have a mind of their own now. They were normal the rest of the chapter.
But in all seriousness Oda has been fucking up something on Sanji every chapter now for like the past three months. Be it this or the handcuffs or forgetting his facial hair.
What if this is intentional? You know, the whole left-right eyebrow thing of the brothers.
so the fat hoe now has two extra powers outta nowhere? weak

When I wrote that I was more hoping than stating. I also hope he's more than just a strong henchmen. But I can see why you said he could be commander snack lol he asked for snacks when he spoke to BM and the fact that she got so angry when he was defeated I doubt a similar reaction will happen when she finds out about Crackers defeat.
I have to say, that was a really good chapter. I certainly didn't expect Luffy to find Sanji this early.
With the letter being brought up in this chapter, I wonder if the woman Sanji was referring to was his mother or Reiju, instead of Purin.
People complaining now about Enies Lobby all over again, lol. You are 30 chaps too late. It was back in 813 when Sanji left because his reoccuring past forced him to.
Thoughts on the chapter:
- Lord smoothie and Lord potato starch??? Really Oda????
- What the hell is with Big Mom's powers? She can control weather now?
- Someone pointed out to me that she may have imbued a ton of powerful souls into like a raging forest fire and a massive thunderstorm so that she could control them. Makes slight more sense…I guess?
- Luffy's insane metabolism making a comeback.
- And here we go a rehash of I can't explain my situation to you, so I'm going to act like I hate you trope. For god's sake Sanji you could have slipped them a note or something.
- Sigh…whatever Oda, hopefully you have something better in mind about where this is going
Potato Starch is Katakuriko, which sounds pretty badass.
If Sanji turns out to play a Robin, this chapter is shit and it would make no sense
If not and he actually has some plan instead… This chapter is OK.
Do not like this Bg Mom weather control. It's not like she already has a DF
EDIT
I ask myself, if Nami will get control of Zeus and Prometheus after Big Mom will fall

In with you on this zeus and prometheus being the ancient weapons
I honestly don't understand why everyone thought Bobbin was this all powerful guy in Big Mom's crew. We literally have no feats to base him on, "Oh, but he wiped out an entire Island!" Umm… I don't know about you but that's not really an impressive feat to me, I imagine it was an island that didn't pay up there candy debt, so I don't imagine there were a lot of particularly powerful people on it, otherwise they wouldn't need the protection of a Yonko. Hell Luffy or even Zoro himself could probably take an island like that out. I always saw Bobbin as a powerful goon, but he never exactly struck me as a guy high up in Big Mom's forces.

Well it wasn't really feeling overly similar until this front Sanji decided to put on.
Luffy and Nami better not get stuck somewhere for a bit then have to rush to the chapel before the vows lol.
Although I would like to see them bust in during the "Does anyone have any objections?" Bit.

Because to some people (myself included) he looked cool.
I dont think sanji does not have faith in luffys power in kicking ass the thing is why would he risk zeffs life by saying things to luffy straight
Doing it Like this makes germa think that sanji has gave up

So you want to see this and don't want to see this at the same time? Haha that objections thing would be so cool even if it's been done a billion times.
Alright, I'm just calling it here because it's something that's been in the back of my mind for a while now. That vivre card of Big Mom's is just a cover for Nami's own parentage. I think she's Big Mom's daughter (we don't know her real parents, after all), and her ability with weather is a pretty big hint towards this. I wouldn't put it past Oda to have given her the vivre card in order to make it so that her own connection to Big Mom wasn't revealed during this arc (or at least, until the part it needs to be revealed during) and it would make a lot of sense with how much Luffy has been struggling to have a different way of 'defeating' Big Mom and putting the Germa 66 in their place. Say, if perhaps one of Big Mom's daughters were 'married' (or just connected) to Sanji… and could somehow still be part of Luffy's crew? You know, like, say, how Sanji and Nami are nakama and all~
Just something that's been swilling around my mind for a while now.
That said, I enjoyed the chapter. It actually reminds me more of Usopp leaving than anything else at the moment, though I can see the parallels that people are putting towards Robin. Thing is, this arc has so far drawn in a ton of references from previous arcs. Zou has been a reference to Skypeia in more than a few ways, there's some parallels between Big Mom's powers and Thriller Bark and something that struck me this chapter was how we're being introduced to Numbered Siblings which reminded me of Baroque Works. It's been a big ol' draw from all of the early arcs and frankly, I'm enjoying it a lot. I don't mind if it does go down the whole Robin route, as long as Oda does it well, which we know he is capable of. I trust him to do right by his story.
People posted what sun and thunder cloud are in spoiler thread XDand it sounded right

Well the first two Sweet Commanders were Snack and Cracker. They let their actions do the talking rather than their names (though I could very well see Smoothie turn people into smoothies, and Potato Starch could create electrical charges).'
I'm pretty sure Zeus and Prometheus are just really powerful homies. Quite a creative use of her power, notwithstanding the question of how a soul got into a freaking miniature sun.

You never know dude lol can't rule anything out in One Piece, three eyed girl was shown a long time ago turns out she's integral to the current arc. The only character to have a conversation with her face to face (and not on the den den mushi) was Bobbin all those chapters ago plus like hosemisnuba said he looks really cool.

Luffy might be strong, but Cracker gave him one of his hardest fights to date, and Cracker's just one of Big Mom's strongest, not the emperor himself. Personally, I'd be wary of Luffy's chances too, but then again, Luffy got Oda… eer.... luck on his side, so who knows.

Big Mom the type of chick that sees something and makes it hers. She probably saw the sun one day and demanded that it be hers.
