Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !

Yep!
Designed the ultimate 'by fans for fans' Luffy figure.
The unveiling was yesterday and it will be released this October!
-
Probably it has some more easter eggs than the foxxy miniature and the brother's hats.
Oh the gladiator helm! I don't know if that meat is water meat or a generic meat.
There is something strange in the backpack that seems like a snake skin or something from an animal but can't id it as the only picture is too bright.
-
Given the last chapter and what seens to be a look away from Luffy and the gang…
Do you think it is possible Oda wanted to keep the suspense about the Strawhats fate after the BM incident and was kept from it by his editor?
-
Nah, we predicted this a bunch of pages back when we learned that WCI wouldn't have a happy ending combined with comments from Oda last summer.
Exactly as keikaku'd.

Hi Greg… Quick question.
i think we all know the Ohara version of the earth and the multiple moons we see.
But now I ask myself do the earth really have multiple moons and if yes...
1. Why we never have seen a sky with more than one?
2. On which one is Enel?
3. And do the minks have to look in one specific one or not? -

1. Why we never have seen a sky with more than one?
2. On which one is Enel?
3. And do the minks have to look in one specific one or not?So, like many parts of the series, while we have an object to go by, we have little to no information about that object.
Is it to scale?
Is it ancient?I would bet good money that Oda drew it simply because it looked cool.
Nothing we've seen in the series thus far suggests multiple lunar satellites beyond the object that sucked up Bege.
Oda can easily twist the explanation for that any which way he wants which is why for the time being I stick with the one moon we know about.

Hmm Ok thanks for the response

1. Why we never have seen a sky with more than one?
2. On which one is Enel?
3. And do the minks have to look in one specific one or not?I'm pretty certain Oda was going for the super old school geocentric model of the solar system. It's the regular solar system but with earth depicted at its center which of course we know today is wrong.
Seems like if Oda was really trying to hint at their being more than one moon around the One Piece world we would have been given more hints by now especially when the moon and it's phases were an actual plot point.
-
It's not a satisfying answer but it's also an answer that seems the most realistic based on what we currently know.
Time and again I've just assumed something is a certain way only to be asked by an editor, "Yeah, that's interesting! But…was that ever confirmed in the story?"
-
The main thing with the moon is we've never really had any reason at all to question if there was more than one of them, or if it was on a significantly faster cycle than earth's moon, until this most recent arc.
There being a full moon again so soon after a full moon on Zou seems like it happened faster than the month it should have taken.
But we can possibly account some of that to them maybe spending more time on Zou helping Zounisha heal or just pure travel time. Were used to the adventures happening within days or hours of each other but… this could have been a little longer than usual.
Or the moon could be on a one or two week cycle... but if it is that really really messes with our old estimates of the first half of the series.
-
The real moon rotates around earth closer to the plane that the earth rotates around the sun rather than the earth's own axis/equator.
Recently someone in another work of fiction answered a question of "have you seen the moon" with "wich one", with most characters of that region being incredulous or always having seen one moon, vs the "wich one" character being certain that in his northern lands there was at least another moon, so I'd wonder how would it look from earth if there were satelites with more excentric orbits:
I can't find resources, so I'll have to modelate it when I have time.
-
I’m also for the geocentric theory. The only issue is that in theory in our geocentric model, moon couldn’t have moon themselves. That’s why galileo satellites were such a revolution
But well, as Robby said, there is a problem with the full moon schedule in totland and I don’t think Oda did not think about it. Maybe we will know later when the minks Sulong reappear but I doubt it. I guess Oda prefer to keep this degree of liberty like he does for Haki or Devil fruits powers

What is a planet but a satelite of a star?
No, really, the astronomy site that I was checking out before did say that, every body in space in orbit of another body has an area relative to the body that it is rotating around where their gravity is stronger than the big one, so there is nothing that says that the moon or any other celestial body can't have it's own satelites, as long as they are near enough to them.
Extra fact: Satelites around the moon will inevitably fall to it because the moon is tidal locked with earth, meaning that the moon always has the same side showing at earth, so that screws over the equations and makes any lunar satelite loose speed or something until it crashes. If the moon wasn't tidal locked, then it's satelites would be there spinning until an external force stoped it, and that's why the earth might spin around the sun forever (provided the sun doesn't die), as it isn't tidal locked.

If you are answering my post, that is not the issue i made. In pre copernic geocentric model, everything had to rotate arrou’d the Earth. That was more a religious belief than anything else but it was supposed to be like that. So if it is a geocentric model, Ohara one is different from ours

It's worth enough that when it finally ends the entire industry is screwed.
-
It will be a blow to WSJ at the very least. Do we have the numbers on how much has it changed since Naruto and Bleach ended?

ANd Toei. And all the merchandising people. And the printers. And the bookstores.
Do we have the numbers on how much has it changed since Naruto and Bleach ended?
Bleach was never that big a deal really, despite being "one of the big three". (That was more an english thing tan an actual japanese thing.) and it declined slowly for years so I can't imagine the effect was that bad. Especially since other things like AssClass came along the way.
Naruto has been recycled into spinoffs, and MHA is pretty much filling its niche, so I imagine that's softened its blow considerably.
-
Toei will never give up one piece, we got a one piece GT on our hands
-
If they are smart they would do one piece kai, now with a proper pacing.
-
Every Sunday I pray to the gods of anime that they do OP Kai (and they will) in a timely fashion.
I loved watching OP with my dad but as it stands it's unwatchable.
Also….I don't know if he'll read this but good to see you around Kishido.
-

GT won't be needed. Format of the series means they can probably do movies indefinitely in a way Dragonball couldn't quite, regardless of how the series ends.
It'll be a Lupin or Boy Detective Conan sort of situation. You have the cast assmebled, you throw them into a caper against an over the top villain, audience enjoys seeing them again for 90 minutes. Depending on how the series ends, you just put everything into a vauge time period where adventures could happen forever.
-
They could also chapter of chopper everything and do full crew against Croc.

…but they already did a Alabasta retelling movie.
It wasn't very good.

Because it was just a retelling, it had no extra punch. Episode of Chopper had some standout scenes with Robin as Vivi and Franky as Carue, granted it still no Gold/Z/Strong World, but I'm putting it forward as "let's squeeze some ideas" not just the good ones.
-
the new tv series will be called "Chopper and the Strawhats"
it will be like Episode of Chopper Plus:Bloom in Winter, Miracle Sakura ARCADE EDITION DX ULTRA -
Every Sunday I pray to the gods of anime that they do OP Kai (and they will) in a timely fashion.
If that happens, I really hope they'll never replace the original score like they did with DB Kai.

public domain is only 50 years after authr death. That's less than the standard 70 years or than the usual overcomplicated French ones but it still a lot of time until One Piece becomes legally free.

the second link isn't working for me but I'm loving the first one, I had no idea one piece was worth so much, I didn't even think it was a billion dollar franchise a lot of these other ones are suprising me too!!
what does it mean that the list is incomplete???

WOW  mind boggling how big this series is

Nothing has gone into public domain in a long long time

They gave the explanation in the second paragraph of the summary. Its when there isn't an official total revenue. So they list the the different bits they have collected to make an approximation.
There was also a thing about Oda making about 30 millions us dollar a year because of being the author but it's old.

Thank you again man
I wonder how much more money One Piece would have made in the foreign market if Four Kids had never done what they did to it….. those bastards

How do I make my own One Piece I want $$$$

The problem with the idea of an OP Kai is that DBZ Kai didn't really reanimate much of anything, just recut it, and if that's our baseline, we're gonna have problems. I've seen One Pace - a fan project sure, but it shows that with Toei's padded out animation and line delivery, you're still left with a painfully slow adaptation, even after you remove all the noncanon scenes.
Maybe it's a pipe dream, but I'd love to see OP reanimated from the ground up instead of just recut, with like a season for each major saga instead of running continuously so they're not running their animators into the ground and trying to stretch the budget indefinitely.
-
instead of a One Piece kai I'd rather they give One Piece the full metal alchemist brotherhood treatment and just redo it all, maybe that's just me though lol
-
But FMA 2003 is better than Brotherhood. Either way, it'd be a long ass time before they can properly do something like that or Kai since the story still has around a decade to go. And they would definitely have to keep the music.

Lol, no, that's never going to happen. They're not going to reanimate 400-600 episodes from scratch for fun. They'll take the existing footage and edit out the filler, just like Kai.
It won't be perfect but it'll still be a vast improvement. The first year or two of the show were nearly filler free (or extrapolated nicely like for Zoro's flashback) and it was really solid back then.
-
Greg I hope you are pitching One Piece Kai out there to the big wigs. You're our only hope.
I used to love watching the One Piece anime and now my wife and I are at Marineford and it is absolutely dreadful. We used to watch about 5 or 6 episodes a night and now we can barely do 1 or 2.
Maybe one day it does get totally redone. Filler free, cover stories added and animated like someone cares 100% of the time. Just keep putting it out in the universe!

Damn it.. DB/DBZ is still far bigger than OP..:getlost:
DB/DBZ is use to be my all time favorite. I don't like GT but what really make me hate DB/DBZ is SBSuper.
They destroy DB/DBZ for me.. garbage.
its even worse than Digimon Tri did to Digimon s1/s2 for me -
Being the Daddy and Grand daddy of a lot of the recent battle shonen I am happy to see Dragon ball still well placed.
-
I still think it's a huge missed opportunity that Toei didn't animate these all in the time between the timeskip. At least with the manga, Oda took two months or so off, which really brought home the feeling of time passing since seeing these characters. The anime just kept rolling. I would have liked for them to take advantage of all of this canon material for them to use, gain some needed space from catching up to the manga, and just have fun with showing these characters living their lives outside of the Strawhats perspective.
I would love to see episodes just about side characters and those things after the manga finishes and they're not concerned with using characters because they may come up again in the story.
-
If they ever do another anime, I just hope they'll use the same soundtrack. Please!

From which year is this image? It's all 80s/90s mangas in there.
-
Why the soundtrack? It's probably one of the weakest aspect of the anime. It has some good tracks, but the rest are mediocre and dull especially when they have been so redundant over the course of the show.
-
