So after about five years another game in the Pirate Warriors musou franchise has been announced for all platforms coming next year. I might pick it up myself since I'll have a Switch by then and haven't played any musou games yet though I know other gamers are starting to suffer from musou fatigue at this point. It'll be nice to finally have the Whole Cake Island and beyond cast like Katakuri, Carrot, Big Mom, Capone (?) etc. playable in a game at least. Don't think there will be too much Wano since the merchandise follows the anime but we'll see.

The trailer for Pirate Warriors 4 looks very nice. I been really enjoying these series of games. I can't wait to see who are going to be the new characters this time around.

I'll say I didn't bother with Emblem, Hyrule, PW3, or Legend Of Sanada.
And I still haven't finished platinum DW8: Empires.

Five years since the last game. That might be the biggest gap between installments in a One Piece game series.
It might be pointless to hope, but I really really really want this to be an evolution of PW3's gameplay.

Last year I binged and did every last thing in Fire Emblem Warriors. Currently I'm on Hyrule Warriors. Guess next year it'll be Pirate Warriors 4.
I just hope they improve on the main cast's abilities, give Chopper all of his current forms for example. Mr. 2 and Mr. 3 (and the other long stays to be playable. Tho doubt it.) and give us some huge scale arcs on adventure mode please. Kinda like FE and Zelda had themed ones.

I might be tempted as long as it's an original story. Also if they smarten up on some movesets like changing Chopper's running animation to his reindeer form instead of his half form that makes him look stupid.

I think it has more to do with Koei waiting for new marketing opportunities, “the next big thing”, which wci with big mom and Katakuri and Wano with Kaido definitely provide.
Unpopular opinion, but I would like Shiki, Zephyr and Tesoro playable, even if they take spots from real canon characters, I think it would make the world feel bigger and it is a good opportunity to go back to older characters and show us something new. I would also like flashback characters to be playable, but I think thats even less probable…

I have to say that this got me very hyped. Burning Blood was okay-ish and World Seeker pretty disappointing. I know that the Pirate-Warriors-Series isn't the best game in terms of gameplay but I like the simple idea to slaughter my way through enemies with my favorite charakters. I pretty prefer that over the 1vs.1-Style from Burning Blood.

Am really happy Pirate Warriors 4 is coming. I doubt it will follow the manga again, as they've already done it twice, but I wouldn't have an issue if they covered the new world Arcs again, but this time in close detail. Start from Sabaody to the end of Whole cake Island.

Im sure Vivi will be playable this time, her popularity has risen since the reverie. Vivi, Reiju and Carrot are most likely the new ”waifu”, maybe Rebecca will join too if they expand Dressrosa.
I have some oddballs I want playable that arent very likely at all, like Kyros with both toy and human form, and Leo with a ”the wonderful 101” -like play style.

holy shit! I'm positively surprised that it's a real thing, oh my.
It appears, by the logo, that the focus will be on the Yonko…I can't really recall if we had at the last game moves and characters that weren't shown at the anime, but I surely hope they do it now. How will Kaido be really shown if the only person of his crew that has been on air is lamey Jack?
And is that El Thor that Luffy is performing? Are we getting moves from One Piece Movies from now on? Shall I dream of Zephyr, Shiki, Tesoro and Douglas Bullet as playable characters? That would be nice and refreshing, too.
About the roster, I hope that they put some of the already functional characters as playable. I'm mainly looking at Kuro, Don Krieg, Arlong, Wapol, Daz Dias, Bon Kurei, Galdino, Kaku, Jabra, Monet and Vergo. Possibles inclusion from Dressrosa? Bartolomeo is the most likely. I could imagine Tecmo creating a moveset for Cavendish. Chinjao, Baby 5, Gladius, Pica, Diamante and Trebol are quite easy to make a moveset as well, but none of them are as popular as the previous two. Can't see anyone from Zou being in as playable besides Carrot. Looking at WCI, I assume that Katakuri, Big Mom and Capone are a given. I don't know how they will make the Germa 66 work, but I if Ed Boon could put TMNT in Injustice II, I'm positive they could make them work...even as a group character as well. From what we have from Wano, maybe Hawkins and X Drake...? Apart from Kaido, I don't really have a clue. Don't really see Queen or King as a playable character.
oh, well, I'm excited.

I reckon it'll touch Wano. Because we are in Wano now and we know Kaido will be in. I'm guessing it'll be like the last game in that we will see make believe Wano ending (much like Ghost Ace helps Luffy in the first one) assuming EVERYONE comes back I'm only expecting upgrades to the Strawhat Crew and Jinbe.
For other characters I'm gonna guess will be:

Looks like the same old fodder soliders, otherwise it looks decent.
I hope they will implement some decent transformation mechanics now with gear 4, I dont want monster chopper or general franky to still be just a one move musou, it would work with Capone and his castleform, Sanji with stealth black form, kaidou with dragon form, Cracker, and Carrot and sulong form, cavendish and hakuba form.

PW 1 had 13 characters, 2 had 27 and 3 got 37, so from the first to second and second to third we got 14 and 10 new playable characters in each installment respectively.
Im positive we will get at least 10 new characters in this one, probably more if they have been planning this sequel while waiting for new material. -
Roster won't particularly matter to me, I'll play everyone they offer for some length of time.
I just hope we get something like 2's story mode again. 2 was definitely the best of the trio and probably my favorite of these types of games. 3 was more than a little disappointing after that.

Regarding the roster, if I where to guess the additions with a 13 limit, it would be : Big Mom, Katakuri, Cracker, Reiju, Ichiji (/w Niji and Yonji), Bege, Kid, Drake, Hawkins, Carrot, Kaido, Jack, Luffy (!).
By Luffy, I mean that I expect that his PTS will be split into 2 slots because his moveset is becoming really huge. One with a focus on Gear 2/3 and the other on Gear 4 (Boundman, Snakeman) and whatever new moves is currently learning in Wano.

Each one has different moves to not be a clone of their post-time skip version.
That would bring PW3's roster up to 46 characters.

I hope they focus on whole cake, and leave wano for later, this is Big Mom's console debut right? Kaido will have like 4 years of "main villain of the games" status. Kaido can be a secret boss in this one.

Id rather they make an original story, so we can see all these characters interact with each other. Make Zou, WCI and Wano new stages, remake the olders one but keep the same assets.

Pudding and Big Mom using their powers to create homie golems of previous enemies.

Pudding would actually make a nice playable non-combative character. She could use her carpet homie to run and tackle enemies, throw Nitro into around, and attack with her special gun and have a stun attack with her memory power for some nice visuals.

They'll add Wano for sure, probably the same way they added Dressrosa in PW3.
Yeah, the arc is just starting but there's just enough to add the stage and the boss character and entice fans.Kaido will probably have a rather generic or made up move set with his club and his drunkness state and then one of his musou will be him transforming in a cutscene.

I think this is the best chance to make a good number of characters playable when past games didn't have much a reason to add them. It'll definitely be fun though.
