I miss Cole Brown so much. He played Blackbeard superbly. RIP Cole.

I know, this is a little bit off topic. But this is a discussion about Funimation/Crunchyroll home video releases. I'm not too happy about the upcoming January release of the 30th anniversary of Yu Yu Hakusho complete series boxset. I don't really want to buy the series again, just for two new ovas episodes.
Because I already got all the single dvds volumes from the original release run back in the early 2000's. I wished would've release the new ovas as an release by themselves. I hoped they end up putting up the ovas on crunchyroll soon, since the 30th anniversary boxset comes out in a couple months.
I pre-ordered the set the other day. I actually purchased the steelbooks very recently, so I'm a little aggrieved. I was also surprised to see no art books or anything with the set.

I sense a double drop incoming. Likely why we missed out this week.

@Zephray that shows you how much man power they've put behind this, and they are serious in catching up. I wouldn't be surprised to see more engineers.

It's entirely possible that certain talent haven't recorded yet, or the episodes aren't yet mixed and ready to go. Now, If they can double the current schedule for 3 months between now and December- they can absolutely simuldub by the end of the year. Again, we don't know where the actual engineers are with the mixing and what they have ready and available to go to the Microsoft Store. At some point, if they are going to Simuldub, double drops will have to happen.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Crunchyroll recruit another team of engineers to mix the backlog episodes. They have more than at least doubled the recording teams during this process. We've gone from just Mike, (When Joel left) to adding Anthony Bowling, Emily Fajardo & Kyle Phillips.

So exciting they are up to date with Japan. If they continue at the current pacing, by the end of the year, they'll be at 1060, and providing Japan doesn't take any breaks in that time, they'll be roughly 29 episodes behind. Simuldub could also mean they'll be roughly 4 weeks back, so that means 2 double drops, which as things currently stand, that's certainly possible.

@LostTimeLord I've got my VPN - works perfectly with Crunchyroll and Funimation. It is so dumb that Toei Europe won't let them stream the dub. iPlayer has all of Dragon Ball Super anyhow. One Piece is never getting a TV deal, if that's why they won't let Crunchyroll stream.

Boom! 24 episode month. Exciting! We'll be less than 60 episodes behind Japanese Broadcast.

Yes! I'll try to save them a bit better than the last set - I binged it hard, I loved the flashback.

I see no reason we don't get monthly DVD/BD sets now. The episodes have been done for months.
